Pure Dancing With The Stars 2011 Off Season Questionnaire #1

Ok Dancettes! Time for your first questionnaire after the wrap up of Season 13!! 😀 If interested, answer each question below to the best of your ability and have fun!!!

1. If the show were to make room for Carson Kressley on the show in some way, where would you like to see him placed?

2. My five top dances on Dancing With The Stars Season 13 were __________________. (This can include the Pro and Troupe dances as well)

3. After you saw Tony and Chynna’s “Mission Impossible” finale dance, did you think the viewers made the right decision in letting them go early? How about Mark and Kristin’s finale dance? Did watching them change your mind on their early elimination?

4. From all the celebrity contestants on Dancing With The Stars 14 and if there was a Congeniality Award, which one celebrity deserved it the most? (name only one)

Bonus question: How are you filling your Monday and Tuesday nights now that Season 13 is over?

My answers:

1. I’d want Carson to be a weekly fashion correspondent I think. I hope he dances in some new skits too in some way.

2. My top five dances from this last season in were; Derek and Ricki’s ‘Psycho’ dance, Val and Peta’s ‘Enchanted Melody’ dance (so beautiful!), Carson, Anna, and company’s ‘Vogue’ dance, Carson and Anna’s ‘Move Like Jagger’ dance, and Derek and Anna’s DaD. Honorable mention: Derek and Julianne’s Jive, Maks and Hope’s Quickstep

3. These finale dances didn’t change my mind any. Although Chynna, Tony, Mark, and Kristin were entertaining and it was good to see them again, they still went out at the right time in the competition I think. Chynna’s ballet moves were repetitive and they didn’t do anything different. Kristin’s legs were still a little messy.

4. Congeniality Award? CHAZ! What sealed it for me is when the entire cast would come to hug him after he was called safe each time. I don’t remember that ever happening before.

Bonus question: Monday night, we drove around and looked at Christmas lights going up in the area. Tuesday night’s TV slot has been replaced with GLEE and watching Christmas movies on the Hallmark Channel. 😀 Has this been an easy adjustment? No! lol

DWTS Karina Smirnoff And Ralph Macchio Reunited Again

According to People.com, Karina met up with her former Season 12 partner, Ralph Macchio, and his family to have dinner in New York. You can read more on their dinner at the link as well as seeing a new picture. According to Karina’s tweets, they saw the Jets play as well. The picture above is from Karina’s twitter. So cute. I love Ralph. Speaking of,..recently Ralph has said he’d never do another “Karate Kid” sequel. Instead he is writing a memoir which he will reveal stories about filming The Karate Kid, The Outsiders and My Cousin Vinny. Ralph has also been making State Farm commercials on teenage driving as well as producing a new reality show about Gypsies for the National Geographic Channel to premiere in the Spring. We’ll have to keep a close eye on this one as Ralph touched on a lot of us last season. I still think it was unfair how he was treated by the judges….something I’ll never understand. 😕

Find out in this new interview on Access Hollywood where J.R. talks all about it. He brought his Mirror Ball for the interview as well which he hasn’t been seperated from since he won it. LOL! Note the mentions on Derek, his girlfriend, and what he says on his Mom as well.

How DWTS Derek Hough Became a “Defuser Of A Situation”

In light of Derek Hough presenting at the 4th Annual Fighters Only World Mixed Martial Arts Awards Wednesday night, the Las Vegas Review Journal has a great article up on him and how he was once bullied in school. Below is a take on how he became a “defuser”….

“I would get in fights. I broke some kid’s nose. Well, he punched me first,” says Hough, who appears Wednesday at the World Mixed Martial Arts Awards at the Palms.

Hough, 26, remembers that particular fight well.

“He tapped me on the shoulder. I turned around. And he punched me,” he says.

“My nose was bleeding all over the place. All this blood filled up in my hand. I turned around and threw all this blood in this kid’s face. Then I started getting on him and I broke his nose.”

Hough was expelled, but the bully wasn’t. Hough’s parents were supportive.

“My mom was like, ‘Damn right, you fight back if somebody touches you.’ ”

His dad took a different approach and advised him to “just work it out.”

“And that’s how I am in general — I’m a defuser of a situation,” Hough says.

Doesn’t it break your heart to know how several of the dancers were bullied when they were kids just because they danced? 🙁 Be sure to read the full story here. Derek also talks of how he got into Martial Arts and more.

Will Dancing With The Stars Ask Kris Jenner To Dance? (Rumor)

Is Kris Jenner, Rob Kardashian’s mother and co-host of The Talk, headed to Dancing With The Stars? According to a Huffington Post insider, the show is hoping Kris will dance next.

“They have already had Kim and brother Rob Kardashian on the show and now they are hoping to get mamma Kris to swing her hips,” an insider told me. “Love them or hate them, the Kardashians bring a huge amount of media and buzz to anything they do and having Kris join the next show would be a smart and controversial move, which is exactly what this show loves to do.”

The link also mentions Rob Quivers has turned down the show for the fourth time.

“They have already asked Robin Quivers from the ‘Howard Stern Show’ to join next season, but she has turned them down for a fourth time, saying she doesn’t want to take that much time away from Howard,” a source close to Stern’s show told me. “So expect Kris to get her offer in the next few weeks.”

You can read the full story here.

So, what do you think? I ended up really liking Rob, but, please no more Kardashians for a while. Though Robin Quivers might be fun if she ever decides to give it a go.

Derek Hough Fans Turn Their Passion Into Animal Lifesaving Endeavor

The fans of Derek Hough have made news headlines. Last Spring, his fans made it a serious mission to donate whatever they could to “Best Friends” in honor of Derek’s birthday last May. Pledges poured in from countries all around the world including Denmark, France, Poland, Spain, Turkey and the UK. When all was said and done, their time and dedication raised nearly $5,000 in the name of homeless dogs on behalf of Derek. Below is a take from Yankees Daily with quotes from Derek and a few of his fans. To read more on how they accomplished such a feat, be sure to read the link in full as well as this one.

“For people to have gone out of their way to donate their time and money to help animals in need through Best Friends is amazing. And that they did so in honor of my birthday, that’s just truly inspiring,” says Derek.

It’s Derek’s fans’ dedication to the mission of No More Homeless Pets that helped turn this fundraiser from an idea into a reality. Whether it’s supporting him comforting pound puppies or burning up the dance floor, it’s clear that Derek’s fans are an incredibly passionate and loyal bunch who embrace any opportunity to express their appreciation and support for him.

“You inspire so many people without even saying a word,” writes Amarilys, a fan who contributed to Derek’s gift from Puerto Rico. Jenn in New Jersey says, “Derek, you inspire me nearly every day to go after my dream no matter how crazy it may seem. You lead by example!”

Tessa in Vermont says, “Seeing you on Dancing with the Stars has always inspired me to be the best that I can be. I’m sure you have many adoring fans who tell you how important you are, but if you’re ever wondering if you really made a difference to someone, you made a difference to me. Thank you for helping me to believe in myself.”

Stephie in California writes, “Thank you for the entertainment and creativity you’ve given us. It was a pleasure to take part in your birthday gift. I love being your fan because you’re so amazingly talented in everything you do.”

So so cool!!!! For more on Derek currently, visit Pure Derek Hough!

Would You Support A YouTube Sensation To Dance On Dancing With The Stars?

At John’s request in the new Dancing With The Stars Season 14 Casting Suggestion post, here is YouTube sensation, iJustine. You might remember that she and her fans massively campaigned for her to dance on Dancing With The Stars in Season 12 as you can see from the video below. I remember a lot of fans campaigning for her at twitter last season as well.

She can bust some moves too. Below is a recent video of her dancing around Pittsburgh during Thanksgiving.

The question remains….if iJustine is still interested in dancing on the show (as one commenter hopes), can a YouTube sensation like iJustine (with over 1,299,000+ fans following her) be considered a true “star”? Would you support or not support iJustine’s chances to dance?

I think I’d support her (and to dance with Derek too, lol). I hate to say it (and I didn’t always feel this way)…but, reality stars and YouTube sensations are the sign of our times and the current pop culture.

John’s Comments: I’m sure I’m a bit biased when it comes to iJustine, but she’s a bit more than a YouTube sensation. She’s pretty popular around tech circles particularly for her lifecasting and use of new media. Sure, it definitely stretches the definition of Star, but her 1.3+ million twitter followers says something. Plus, she’s not a YouTube sensation like other one hit wonders. Her weakest videos have a few hundred thousand views.

I actually don’t think that DWTS will pick up someone like iJustine for the show, because many people won’t understand that she’s a star and that could hurt the image of the show. However, she’s likely more widely known than a number of other “stars” that have been on the show.

Personally, I’m all for more Hot Blondes on DWTS, so I support her being on the show. Plus, I love the fact that she made a video of her dancing to basically capitalize on all her fans that want her on DWTS. I wonder what creative videos/social media methods she’d use to get people voting if she were on DWTS. Would be really fun to watch.
