DWTS Las Vegas Odds And New Poll For Next Elimination Week 8 (VOTE)
Once again, Nancy Grace continues to defy the odds makers in Las Vegas. Rob Kardashian also defied the odds this past Monday night, but, can these two do it again? The two are at the bottom of the pack for this coming Monday night and by a fairly good margin as well. Ricki and J.R. stay steady in the same top positions with Hope in third. More below from SportsBoDog.
J.R. Martinez 1.20
Ricki Lake 3.75
Hope Solo 11.00
Robert Kardashian 31.00
Nancy Grace 51.00
So, what are your predictions for who will leave next week? Let’s take a Poll. I don’t want to pick Nancy, but, even with the controversy surrounding Maks and Hope, I think her time may seriously be up this time?
Rob is being artificially promoted by the judges. It’s disturbing. I’m not even a dancer and I noticed that his portion of the Team Paso was total heel leads. Please. Let’s stop pimping this no-talent just because of his last name. We are not THAT dumb.
Colleen, I like Rob’s performances lately and will take him over Hope any day of the week. I hope he makes it to the final three.
Looks like there is a real backlash against Hope and Maks in the poll here. I wonder if the same is true of the general public??
The problem, Colleen, is that JR and Ricki are the only two really good dancers left in the competition. Rob slides into third place by default. That said, I think he did really good last week and earned his score – much more so than Hope did.
They have Hope ranked far too high, IMO.
Wow, the poll has some interesting results so far.
For me, Nancy is the worst dancer, but Hope is the least entertaining. With all the controversy, it’s just sad to watch – I feel like she’s just shuffling along, waiting for the inevitable dismissal so that she can get on with her life and have some fun. While Nancy isn’t as good, at least she’s having a blast, and the partnership with Tristan is fun and entertaining to watch.
So true Sally! Hope and Maks are almost painful to watch anymore in a way I’ve never experienced on this show before.
I’m not really surprised that the poll shows Hope but I don’t think you can really go by that. Because you have the ones that don’t like Maks, so they will say Hope. Then you have Nancy & Tristan fans & they aren’t going to say Nancy, so they will probably say Hope. I just want all of them to have great performances this week, so when someone does go home, they won’t feel so bad & wonder what if….
Collen, I completely agree with you.
Heidi, yes, there’s no goodies that can reach J.R. and Kristi, but, the judges are so nice with Rob… it’s awkward. OK, he improved a lot, but he’s like a little-bit-more-likeable-Bristol, you know…
I just can’t watch the team paso and look the steps he does with Cheryl… don’t know the name of the steps but it’s, when he is with her, walking to the front of the ballroom linked by one arm. He walks with no Paso style… he’s like a robot… =/
Btw, at this point, I can say that the things that I liked the most on the 13th season of DwtS was: Carson humor, the pair JR and Karina and Derek’s back.
There’s not a lot of unforgetable dances… I think that I will remember Moves like Jagger chacha, the Psycho dance, that JR rumba… I don’t know… I really am looking for some Argentine Tangos but, it looks like we are not gonna have them… or are we? do you know, guys?
Just wanted to say thanks for this site….Vogue, Heidi, Courtney & others….I don’t post much but I do enjoy reading 🙂
I don’t think this can be accurate cause Ricki has more votes than Rob lol. I think whether people like Hope or not, if she scores much higher than Nancy (which she should) with her fanbase and Maks fans she will likely go through. I can honestly see her in the finale with JR and Rob/Ricki.
Thanks, Vogue! 😀 Have you heard anything about what’s on-tap for next week’s results show? I thought I saw something about Andrea Bocelli (I hope, I hope)???? Is that next week, or down the road a bit?
Colleen, I actually think Rob has a lot of natural talent and just needs to work on his entertainment value, and I don’t appreciate the insinuation that I am stupid for thinking so. I AM a dancer, and if heel leads are Rob’s biggest problem, kudos to him – Hope couldn’t even stay on-time for most of team paso, and spent 8 counts just sitting on the floor while Maks danced around her. I am 100% behind him getting the 3rd spot in the finale, as I think Nancy just doesn’t have the stamina and Hope has improved little (if at all) since week 1, in my eyes. The odds for her are RIDICULOUSLY inflated, and I think they’re highly underestimating Rob’s staying power.
I have to wonder if Rob’s family name has something to do with all this sudden insistence some people have that he “isn’t a good dancer” and has “no talent” – I have to wonder if some folks’ disdain for Kim’s tabloid antics are coloring their opinions of Rob’s dancing. Yes, his sisters can be obnoxious harpies and his mother is quite possibly the most overbearing stage mom I’ve ever seen – but I’m digging Rob these days. He doesn’t seem as drawn to the limelight like they are, and he doesn’t seem to want to play into the same drama they do.
Sally – I dunno about any musical acts, but DANCE CENTER WILL BE BACK!!!! 😀
Well, natasha, Maks fans get to vote too and who do you think they’ll vote for this week? 🙂 Transparent.
princess Heidi – lol…agree
This Maks fan voted for Nancy in the poll 🙂 Not too transparent, lol
Even though I don’t agree with maks’s outbursts I still put a lot of it on hope because she is still too slow. I keep asking myself how she can play soccer and still manage to be behind in the beats on the dance floor. I guess goalies don’t move fast. Watch here in the team dance. She barely makes it back to the line in time.
Colleen, I totally agree with you. I see absolutely no natural talent in Rob. He walks around very clunky and awkwardly. Obviously, JR and Ricki are the most talented dancers, and someone has to go in that 3rd spot. But it does annoy me that the judges are promoting Rob so obviously ahead of Hope and Nancy, when I don’t see much difference there. Quit inflating his scores, and let the public decide who they want to see. The main difference that I see in Rob is that he’s…ummm…changed his personality since the first couple of weeks. At the beginning, he was very disrespectful to Cheryl with a very bad attitude, and NOW, he’s suddenly become this nice, charming guy. Go figure!!
Well, THIS Maks fan voted Hope to go because I don’t think that her fanbase can hold up against Nancy and the PR juggernaut Nancy’s got going, nor can she hold up against the Kardashian name which seems to be gold.
Then I also predicted that Chaz’s fanbase would get him to the finals, so take that for what it’s worth. *LOL*
As to their talent or non-talent, well, as I’ve said before I think all three, Rob, Nancy and Hope have their strengths and their weaknesses and it all balances out in my head, so… it’s a toss-up for me.
We all see things differently, and nobody should be given the impression that they’re stupid if they don’t agree with someone else. That said, I’m on the “Rob isn’t very good train.” I mentioned in a previous post that I thought my dislike of the K ladies had influenced my opinion of Rob’s dancing. I’m being honest now, and the answer is no. He needs to be on the balls of his feet, cause he just looks flat-footed most of the time. But, he’ll probably not be eliminated because of who he is, and the friends and family are voting. I’m thinking Nancy will probably be the one to go. Hope and Maks made it through last week with all the kerfluffel, so they’ll probably make it through this week, too. The other two couples are a lock.
I think Nancy will go next, but who knows this year?!!
BTW, thanks for the polls you do. They are fun. 🙂
You guys are right that Rob is a stronger performer than Hope. I know Hope is too tall a girl to have ever been paired with Derek, but just IMAGINE where Hope would be by now in terms of the quality of her performances had she been paired with Derek as a coach (a MAN and a gentleman) as opposed to Maks (emotionally, a stunted 12-year-old and narcissistic cad.) All Maks has done this season is drag Hope around the floor with that clompy/jerky arrogant, inelegant giant stride of his. Hoping he’ll soon be replaced with someone who can choreograph something beyond his ego, and who is kind and encouraging to their partner a la Derek’s shining example.
Well, have to confess that I think that Rob and Cheryl are going to be in the finale.
My dream was Nancy and Tristan, not because of her, but because of them, as a couple, they are fun in rehearsals and Tristand did an really excelent job with her this season. He was smart on choreography and never gave up on Nancy. Hope to see him again next season.
Talking about the new pros, IMO Peta could do a good job if she stays more. I do wanna see what she can do with a good or medium partner. About Val, I’m not so sure if he could stay longer if he had Kristin or even Ricki, because his temperament… I know Elisabetta wasn’t that coordinated person, but, a different approach could have been more affective. But that’s the way the Chmerikoviski’s do (and a lot of fans like, so…)
Guys, I don’t know about you, but I’m already ready to DwtS 14. ahahahahh For me, we should have Peta, Tristan, back and Ted V., Oksana, Kiki as new pros. Give a break to Cheryl, Tony, Maksim… Wanna see this ballroom battle… this could be a place for these pros, next season…
Well, I’m talking randomly so, let me take a bow to the greatest pros they prove to be this season: Anna T., Lacey, Kym, Tristan, Cheryl (they got hard “stars” to teach and get the best they could from them). Karina for be very creative and Derek for creativity as well and plus for his team spirit. The guy got a lot of points with me. My admiration for all them grew, definely.
Collen, I think Rob is “as good” performer as Hope. She acted well on the samba, IMO.
I do think Hope would be better with any other pro, except maybe… Val. But the thing is that Maksim looked for her, asked her to be on show, etc, etc… this possibility wasn’t on the table.
Sally, you’ll want to see this new post;
https://www.puredwts.com/2011/11/03/les-twins-from-cirque-du-soleil-michael-jackson-immortal-tour-to-perform-on-dancing-with-the-stars/
PS I apologize for sounding as though I was calling anyone with a different opinion from mine about Rob “dumb.” What I failed to succeed in communicating is that I’ve felt that this season, more than any other. certain judges are trying to cram their own preferences down our throats, not based on quality of performance, but on stuff outside of ‘dance-ability.’
I don’t know if this was just an anomaly, but last night I checked out some random Season 1 performances on YouTube. Am I hallucinating, or was the caliber of contestants back in the day waaaaay higher?
Colleen, I’d say Tristan’s your man for replacing Maks, but I think he’s already Derek’s replacement. LOL He certainly has most of the qualities. Not sure that anybody’s choreo can reach Derek level, but Tristan’s got the gentlemanly, classy, positive attitude down pat. He’s not hard on the eyes either! 🙂
Colleen, the judges showing their preferences or not….both sides have positives and negatives. The whole point of having them is so that they have their say. The show is structured that way. 50% judges and 50% viewers. Just like we can vote for whoever we like (and often do to disastrous results), they can too. That’s part of the deal. And honestly, one of my biggest complaints (and I think Courtney shared it) in the past was that they were much too generous to contestants relative to *themselves* as opposed to relative to the quality of the other dancers. For example, CAI or Len would give, say, Bristol an 8 for a dance and then would turn around and give Jennifer an 8 for a clearly superior dance that wasn’t up to *her* caliber. That’s just crazy. And we complained like crazy about that. Now, they are NOT doing that as much, IMO. I thought that, barring flat footed-ness, Rob’s dance was better than JR’s. Yes, there is still some of that over scoring going around (Hope!), but they seem to be realizing that the way to avoid “shocking” eliminations is to give out scores that fit the actual dancer that they think is the worst. Frankly, I think the audience does just as bad a job as the judges do, a lot of the time. Essentially, the judges are getting a bit better at ranking the contestants than they have in the past. And that’s fair. The audience has their shot to overcome that or not.
ETA: Forgot to address the bit about dance ability. There is always a degree of subjectivity. And there is always a degree of “wow! He did great (for him)”. It’s hard to eliminate that. It’s also interesting to see the judges discussion between them and how Len and Bruno were giving CAI crap for giving…was it JR?…a 9 for his dance. Bruno then made a crack about how she gave Nancy a 9 too. I think they go with their gut based on what they see right in front of them, but they also keep an eye on the score board, someone’s history, and a whole host of other things. I don’t think you can eliminate that from their heads.
And really, are going to tell me that the audience always gets it right when it comes to ability?? 🙂
Hello Heidi,
Thank you and the rest of the PUREDWTS team for all the passion, dedication, time, talent, energy, information and everything else you all so generously give through this wonderful website. THANK YOU !!! = )
Next season I would like to see these male pros: 1. Derek – Fred Astaire would come back as Derek if he were a Hindu. 2. Mark- He always gives me a boost, love the energy and great choreography he brings to the floor. 3. Tristan-cute. 4. Teddy – cute and nice. 5. NOT Maks. Cruelty cannot be rewarded. It’s despicable the outrageous things he’s said to Hope. The Team Paso rehearsal was, for me, THE LAST STRAW. 6. Not Louis. His time is past. Time for some NEW blood, new choreography, new talent, and please, most of all, new positve energy!! I like to SMILE when I watch DWTS and this season has been way too heavy.
I look at it this way. If Rob stays, Cheryl appears more! Just hope the next season has more fun, interesting, quality dancing.
LOL Bruce. You sound like my Dad. He loves loves Cheryl!!
I would say the oprder of elimination would probs be Hope than Nancy. I think the final three is going to be Rob (Cheryl is a miracle worker), Derek and Ricki (easy one to call but I still don’t think she is able to beat JR) and JR (my fav of the season).
On a side note, this is probably the firts time in a long time thta I have seen Cheryl so invested in the competition and happy with her partner. Nice to see since she really is one of the most popular and best pros there. In my English class we were doing this activity where the teacher showed the word on a slide and we had to say the first thing that cmae to our minds. One of the words was dancing with the stars and a large number of my class mates said “save a horse ride a cowboy” (I said Kym Johnson but thought of that too).
Thanks, Colleen.
I agree, recently this season has been too heavy. It sure didn’t start out that way.
As for the male pros for next season….I”m of two minds about Derek. He certainly needs to promote that movie as it’s a small indie and needs the promo more than something like Footloose. But of course, that could also mean it won’t have the budget, which makes no sense, but there go. If he can do more movies, then I don’t want him back on the show even though I’ll miss him. Mark – I haven’t liked him much the last couple seasons but he seemed a lot better this season. I can’t figure if it was a temporary thing or what. Tristan – definite yes. Very cute and I love the accent. If I can’t have Derek, he’s my number two, unless some of his crazier fans drive me in the other direction. 🙂 Teddy gets the thumbs up from me too, since he seemed sweet with Hope. Maks – I think Maks knows he needs a break. I think he was only lured back because of Val and Hope. At least, I hope he knows he needs a break. Agree with you on Louis. But what about Tony?? He’s cool with me, particularly if Maks isn’t around to drag down his ‘tude. If Derek and Maks both sit out, I’ll be VERY curious to see who makes the cut.
What about the ladies?? I like all of them very much with the exception of Lacey. And I was actually very proud of Lacey this season and the way she worked with Chaz and all the surrounding brouhaha. She was great until she started complaining about the judging at the end, then she just sounded a bit….delusional. 🙂 Yes, Bruno was wrong to use animal names, NO Chaz was not underscored.
Heidi – This is all JMO, but I’d prefer not to see Lacey next season. I completely agree with you – Lacey handled all of the crapola people put up about Chaz with grace, I give her kudos for that. But Lacey is still Lacey… over-dancing her partners, slightly odd (for me, anyway) choreography, and more than enough ‘tude to go around… 😉 If Sally had her magic wand, and could choose the pros for S14, I’d pick:
1. Derek
2. Tristan
3. Tony
4. Dmitry
5. Damian
6. Teddy V.
7. Kym
8. Cheryl
9. Anna
10. Karina
11. Peta
12. Chelsie
@Colleen: Could not agree more w u about Louis. The only way I’d be ok w him coming back to compete is if he were paired with Kritin Chenoweth. And she probs will never do the show as a competitor sadly (I’d love to c that though 🙁 ).
@Princess Heidi: I actually think th show needs Lacey. She may be a tad bit annoying and whiney sometimes but she has this quality that the other female pros don’t have that really is relateable for younger people. I know people who nly watch for her since she is part of out generation and shows that being yourself can make a person stand out in the crowd. Saying that, Peta prob is not going to be back and we will have Chelsie back (and as much as it pains me to say it since I’m not a fan…..Chelsie is a better pro for celebrities).
If I had to guess the twelve pros next season I’d say:
1) Mark (I can’t c a seaso nwithout him….he may be annoying sometimes but he is great on the show)
2) Tony (He is one of my fav pros on the show and really helped to make the show as popular as it is since season two)
3) Derek (awesome dancer awesome teacher awesome role model awesome person)
4) Thristan (one of my fav pros as well. He is so down to earth and I can see him doing really well on the show for years to come)
5) Val (I really was impressed with him this season)
6) Teddy or Dymetry (either way they can get a tall female celeb and that person will do good…..my preference would be Teddy but Dymetry is excelent as well just is kinda lacking in the personality department)
7) Anna T (Love her)
8) Cheryl (She is amazing)
9) Chelsie H (Please bring her back so we don’t get Peta as a competing pro….she is more suited for the troupe)
10) Karina (Love her)
11) Kym (my fav pro on the show)
12) Lacey (strong personality and strong dancer that young people can reelate with)
Season 14 for me:
1. Derek (unless he gets a much better offer!)
2. Tristan
3. Jonathan (a girl can dream)
4. Mark (one more chance – better when Derek is around)
5. Val
6. Teddy or Damian
7. Anna T.
8. Kym
9. Cheryl – the one with the spark
10. Karina
11. Chelsie
12. Somebody ( female) who hasn’t been on yet
@meggie: I was going to say Jonathan as well but I don’t think we will ever see him compete o nthe show again. I think he should be back in some capacity though.
You know what’s fun (if that’s the right word)? We really don’t know how this is going to play out. I like Rob, and I thought I’d dislike him. I actually sort of like Nancy, and I thought I’d hate her. I like Hope and I thought I’d love her. I never heard of AJ and I think he’s terrific. I’ve always liked Ricki and that’s unchanged. It’s reality TV and I guess we’ve all signed on til the end.
I think the pros that DEFINITELY SHOULD be part of next season, for me, would be
Tony, because a good friend was his biggest fan, and she passed away recently, I want Tony to dance, because she always loved watching him dance (she died a few days after he and Chynna came in first…)
Karina, because she has shown the last few seasons just how great a teacher she is… And, my friend became one of her dedicated fans, watching her with Ralph…
Anna T, she’s sweet and amazing.
Tristan, because he’s shown what a great guy, and a terrific teacher, he really is.
Derek… I would love to see him, but realize that we have to let him go, since he does belong on the Big Screen….
Other than that, I probably can come up with ones I DON’T want to see, quicker than those I DO want to see.
Vin, it’s time to bring back another classy gentleman to the show. If we don’t put Jonathan’s name out there, people will forget that he could replace an “older’ pro. (I guess that’s over 30 on this show. LOL) 🙂
Not Kym, Lori?? 🙂
Heidi, I’m ok with Tony. I do think he’s past his prime. You can see what I mean if you view some of the earlier footage of him in the first few seasons.
For the ladies, my 6 would be:
1. Lacey – I love her personality. She’s fun, funny, real, a good choreographer and dancer. She’s sunshiny and light and we need that. I really would like to see someone in upper management spring for a really wise nutritionist for her for the next off season. She needs to relearn her relationship with food. She’s so beautiful with an adorable figure but the weight gain has gone too far this year. I’m pulling for her.
2. Karina is sunny and professional, a good enough choreographer, a great dancer.
3. Anna brings it in every category. Lives up to the title “pro” as does Karina.
4. Peta seems like pro material in every category.
5. I know there are a lot of solid candidates for the #5 and #6 slots, however, as dependable as they are, I am bored with them, and want management to take a chance on some other young hungry future ‘top-o-the-line pros’. = ) I’m a little tired of some of the same faces. Cheryl’s and Chelsie’s personalities just b o r e me.
I’m a little bored with the Maks, Val, Tony trifecta. It’s just a little old school and tired. I realize Val is new and has a lot of fans. I’d like to see him in a season without his brother around. He seems like a much nicer and humbler person than the elder Chmerkovskiy. And he’s cute.
Oops! Completely left out Kym accidentally. She brings it consistently, too. Does anyone in the universe have prettier legs than Kym? She’s good at everything she does although David’s weird personality, you could tell, was a bit of a test for her. Hopefully next time she will have someone she doesn’t have to babysit emotionally.
Again odds are right on target with JR and Ricki. Imo, odds are so wrong when it comes to Hope. I’m thinking, she will dance her last dance next monday. Rob will be making his way to the finals with JR and Ricki, with JR taking the MBT. This young man is the total package. along with Carson and David, these three imo, made dwts a fun and positive season.
@Meggie: True I could see him replacing Maks instead of Teddy or Dymetry but i feel like Dymetry has more fans and so does Teddy becuase they have danced more as the show becomes more and more popular. Idk if Jonathan as a pro would be a draw for a lot of people anymore since all the other pros are all over the place selling stuff, doing red carpet stuff, making movies, etc and Jonathan seems like the kind of perso nthat keeps to himself.
@Colleen: I disagree. Yes tony has gotten older BUT he is still equally as amazing. i think he has a different approach than he did in the earlier seasons. In the earlier seasons he would challenge the partner more but past couple of seasons he takes the safe route.
Speaking of Jonathan, I was pondering how Hope might have done with him as a partner.
Also, how is Ricki at almost 13%?!!!!!! Thats crazy!
@mmc: I think it would have been the same result. She is a good dancer but he would probably been equally as stressed as Maks is this season trying to make her reach her full potential. If they paired her with Derek or Tony or Dymetry or any other male pro it would have been the same situation. The only person that came close to gettinng her to see the light of her full potential nd have fun was teddy.
My Top 3 for Season 13
1. JR&Karina – He is like Hines Ward (charismatic & a good dancer) & I want to give Karina her first trophy. But they really have to work hard since Ricki&Derek is definitely the one to beat
2. Ricki&Derek – can pretty much bring out their very best!!
3. Nancy&Tristan – becoz i’m rooting for them!! 😉 i want them to see in the finals, dance the freestyle & i simply love them!! they seems doesn’t need the trophy but i want to push the couple who really is working really hard & having the time of their lives!! ciao!!
Colleen, I agree about Derek. One of the things I like about him is that he always speaks with affectionate words towards his dance partner. Even little things like that can make someone feel like the other person cares and that they are there for them. We saw this even when he stepped in with Hope. It’s sad, I think Maks has been like that before, or said affectionate stuff before in past seasons, but with Hope, he really hasn’t done anything like that at all to my knowledge. It was nice to see someone speak so affectionately to Hope to be honest. Can’t Maks just feel bad about that and learn something?
I think Maks would benefit from a season off, IMO. He is definitely one of the big draws for viewers, but I sort of thought he was humored to come back for S13 because of Val and partnering Hope. He might want to pursue other projects also and building his business.
I hope this is Derek’s last season of DWTS and would love it even more if he and Ricki made a strong showing in the final. The reason I say that I hope this is his last season is because there really are bigger things beyond DWTS for him to pursue with all his different talents, movie star good looks, and incredible work ethics. In addition, he is getting attacked left and right this season by Maks, by the fans of the other pros, by people who are just jealous of his success and he doesn’t deserve that because all he does is does his job to the best of abilities. It’s time for him to move on, IMO.
Perhaps Mark being voted off so early this season will be enough for him to reflect and focus on his music and maybe he will be okay to come back in the spring. But he might want to take a season off to focus more on his music. Maybe he can just do pro dances.
I’d like to see Tristan back. I say give Teddy a chance. I could do without Val, but he’ll probably be back if Maks isn’t.
Nancy and Tristan make me laugh so much, they are funny! In some interviews, Tristan looks like he has completely removed himself from the interview and Nancy just talks, I laugh so much at their interviews!
However, I do think that Nancy does better with more upbeat choreo, and they have the tango next week, plus the jive again. I kind of think she may go next week.
Rob does really good with intense, emotional type of dances, like with his Rumba and Tango, but the more upbeat, he doesn’t score as high. So I am not sure about his quickstep and jive. That’s a lot of fast movements, and he does move kind of stompy and stiff, but we’ll see how it goes.
Hope does better with upbeat, happy dances where she can play a character and not have to be this flirty woman, so the quickstep and jive are actually good for her. I could see her doing a really good quickstep. The jive should be better than her first one, because, well, she won’t have that terrible costume and shoes! And, she should be more in sync the second time around, but we will know next week.
I know this is a very unpopular opinion, but does anyone else think that the producers just pick who they want in the final, based on who they think will create a better final show, and who will get the most ratings?
I just can’t help thinking that. Think back to all the finals of DWTS so far, most of them have couples that fit a certain role, I just don’t believe that the final 3 are always actually voted to be there.
As much as I think it could be JR/Karina, Ricki/Derek, Rob/Cheryl, I always wonder, would that get the highest ratings? Or, what roles do each of these couples play? I just feel like they’re missing that “drama” part that’s always there, so then I think Nancy or Hope should be there. Where’s the popular good-looking couple that argues and everyone wonders if they’re a couple? Hope and Maks. Where’s the popular cute, friendly couple with no drama? Rob/Cheryl.
Am I the only one that thinks this?
Then I always wonder about the partner company connections with ABC/ESPN/and others. Hope has been talked about and shown on ESPN non-stop since this summer. They show her Dancing with the Stars videos on ESPN! They just talked about her today on that show with Michelle Beadle and Colin Cowherd. There’s articles about her and DWTS all on ESPN.
What about Chelsea Kane last season? And, does ABC have anything going with the Olympics? They always show ESPN on ABC with the NBA.
Can anybody help me understand how this works better? I can’t be the only one, at least I hope I’m not!
I can’t believe that many people want Lacey back. She’s the least trained pro that’s been on the show (her specialty is west coast swing) and it comes through in her basic usually self-serving choreography. Her attitude sucks especially this season. I really want Chelsie back, I’ve watched her since SYTYCD and she one few pros that’s had extensive training in “standard” ballroom.
Sweetheart, DWTS, Soccer is Awesome, Cranscape, WHATEVER name you’re using these days, what is it that you want to hear here? Do you want someone to tell you that yes, it’s all fixed and ABC runs the whole thing to get the best ratings for it and their sister stations and partners? Will this make you feel better about what you’re watching? Do you want reassurance that because ABC and ESPN are partners that indeed, yes, Hope is sure to be in the final 3?
It’s a dancing show. People dance. They are judged. The viewing public votes. Those are the facts. Anything else is conjecture and you’re just going to have to live with it. Either you believe the way the show works or you see conspiracy everywhere. Most people here have chosen the former. Stop trying to get them to reassure you on the latter. Please.
This isn’t rocket science or the cure for cancer. It’s a freakin’ reality TV show. Give over a little, PLEASE!!
I love how some of you gave your opinions for who you’d like to see back for Season 14. At this time (and this could change), my picks would be:
Guys:
Derek
Val
Tristan
Sasha
Teddy
Damian
Girls:
Peta
Cheryl
Anna
Oksana
Daria
Lacey or Kym
@Vogue – Love the picks! 🙂 But if Oksana gets a celeb, the band would HAVE do different arrangements each week to “Whip My Hair” for her… and her celeb would need extra insurance in case she puts he eye out while flinging those locks around!!! :twisted
Alright, I’m throwing out my picks for pros for S14.
Guys:
1) Tristan (Duh) – He’s been a great teacher, and I’d like to see him have the chance to really show off all his talents.
2) Derek – I didn’t realize how much I’d missed him until this season.
3) Damian – Please, dear Lord, bring him back
4) Val – I’d like to see him on his own, without Maks around.
5) Sasha – He’s a doll and very charismatic!
6) Tony – He’s the “older brother” and I like his personality
Gals:
1) Karina – I’ve really come to like her the last couple of seasons.
2) Cheryl – She always gets the best out of her partners.
3) Peta – Give her a better celeb, please!
4) Anna – the Russian redhead must be back!
5) Oksana – she’s too cute!
6) Sharna – She’s a bit like Lacey but seems more ballroom-oriented. I’d like to see her have a shot.
Evaine,
Sorry that may have been too intense. I just don’t like fixed things, and the more I think about it I see it more and more. I don’t know, I just don’t understand why they always say vote, vote, but I just feel like it’s already picked. Maybe it’s me.
I love how Teddy is such a popular pick to be a professional in season 14! He won over a lot of people, I hope he knows!
I love how Cheryl has been on since the beginning and she still stays a favorite!
From the moment the troupe was introduced I thought of it as for the current pros be on your A game or your ass in on the line and these are the people who’s gonna replace you.
For Season 14 here’s who I’d like to see return or get promoted
Males
1) Tristan, he is so sweet and great
2) Tony, nice guy
3) Dmitry, great looking and nice 🙂
4) Mark, even though he dances around his partner a lot he is still fun to watch
5) Teddy, I’d like to see him on
6) Maybe Val
Females
1) Karina, she is a great choreographer and I really grew to like her this season
2) Lacey, fun personality
3) Chelsie, young and fun
4) Kym, love her
5) Anna T for sure, how can you not love her?
6) Cheryl even though for some reason her personality bores me.
I kind of want to give Peta a chance because she is great so if any of these females couldn’t return for some reason I wouldn’t mind her.
LOL Sally!!!! 😉
I would like to see Anna T., Karina and Kym. Cheryl if she WANTS to be there, maybe Peta. Guys-Derek, Tony and Damien (maybe, depending on celebs, Tristan, Teddy and maybe Val, if he loses attitude parts that are like his brother. I hope Tristan and Derek would get someone close to their age just to see what kind of choreography they could do.
I agree with whoever talked about how much hate Derek is getting but disagree about his leaving. I’m sure it gets a bit uncomfortable but until he signs A BIG DEAL CONTRACT, at this point he is KNOWN for his live performances and ability to win and create great performances with diverse partners on this show by a wide span of age groups, celebrities and regular people.
IMO, he should wedge the seasons around his other work until he lands something BIG. Alternate or something. I never thought he could be any better than season 10 or 11 and he has come back, fresh, and more creative. His being on this show makes him and all the other pros stay on their toes and the live audience reaction keeps creative people working hard. He brings such fun and quality to the show and I would love to see him have a season minus Mark and Maks. Bet it would be exciting especially with some good stars.
It is a lot harder for guys to break into movies (which is where D belongs part of the time), so if he can get a couple of supporting roles with a high profile star or he gets that big one, he needs to keep showing people his great work on the biggest venue he has at the moment, DWTS.
A little off-topic but just for fun, who do any of you think will be in the DAD this season……not who you’d like but who you THINK it will be?
Yes, I think I would revise my next season list to include Oksana.
Lacey
Peta
Oksana
Karina
Anna
Kym
Derek
Mark
Tristan
Val
Teddy (how many of us did he WIN over when he was kind to Hope, laughed with her, and subsequently was able to teach her the dance REALLY FAST? Note to Maks: When you respect each woman and value whatever she CAN bring, and build her up and encourage her, you get the most out of her. When you put your girl down, you CLOSE her down.
Damian or Dmitry
@mimi – I *think* it will be Derek and Cheryl. 😉
‘I never thought he could be any better than season 10 or 11 and he has come back, fresh, and more creative.” Great comment, I agree. Those performances with Nicole S. and Jennifer G. were wonderful, as was Kristi Y. with Mark. I thought Nicole S. would use what she demonstrated on DWTS to move to a higher entertainment plane, but doesn’t seem to have done do?
That’s funny, Trenta, because I thought of it more as “Crap, some of our top line pros a making noises about leaving, we best start finding adequate replacements.” Not to mention that the pros who stay a large part of the season just don’t have time or energy to do a lot of pro dances. I think the days are long gone of them thinking that many of these pros are just simple, interchangeable employees. Of course, a few of them seem to be, but others clearly aren’t. 🙂
I CAN SEE OKSANA DANCING I WHIP MY HAIR
LOL
The problem, mimi, is that movies and other great opportunities can’t just be scheduled around DWTS – he will have to bend to the movie (or Broadway, which he said he was going to do before reshoots came up) or other schedules. In order to do those things, he’ll have to be available when THEY say, not when DWTS isn’t shooting. Also, when you sign on to big projects there is almost always contractually obligated promotion of those activities. IF Cobu, for example, comes out when I’ve heard it may come out, the promotion for that will likely overlap with the end of Season 14.
So, Derek might be able to go back and forth between DWTS and other projects for a little while (and he certainly seems the type to try – workaholic) but at some point he’s going to have to decide what it is he wants to focus on. If he wants to do a wide variety of things (and again, this is something he’s said he wants), then a set TV schedule that takes up roughly 7 months of the year isn’t going to work. It’s not feasible. Actor after Actor has had complaints about series TV and how severely it limits them from doing anything else BECAUSE you can’t fit other projects into that small window of time. You have to be available when they say it’s time to shoot. That’s why you see actors walking away from successful TV shows. They have to choose.
lol u guys. We haven’t done with S13 yet and you’re casting S14. I’m more than ready for s14 though. I’ve checked out of this season since week 3.
I think it will be either Derek or Tristan….for the female, I saw a shocking number of people voting Karina who were also voting Derek. I also saw a large number of Lacey/Derek voters.
But, I still have my doubts that Derek fans actually put in the time for him to win. And really, haven’t we already had 2 or 3 Derek DADs this season?? 🙂 I feel pretty satisfied either way. 🙂
Bruce-IMO both Brooke Burke and Nicole “owe” Derek big time for the opportunities he opened up for them. He calls these partnerships “marriages” that have definite beginnings and endings. Too bad he coudn’t get a special “pre-nup” to get a couple of the millions those two are raking in as a result of the noteriety he helped them achieve.
As far as Jenn. G., just based on stuff my mom and aunt told me and the research junkie I am….I think Derek helped her gain back her confidence and also enjoy something she did not get to enjoy at the time of DD. Because of the controversial car accident, deaths and injuries (she was a passenger in a car driven by Matthew Broderick in Ireland) that happened right b4 the premiere of Dd.
I think the idea was that she would be that seasons “draw ”
and that she would make it at least half way because of Derek and that people would go “AWWWW”. I think Derek took on a HUGE responsibility for someone so young and dealt with it with thoughtfulness and grace. Both her reputaion (beloved original Baby)and injuries must have felt like the world on his shoulders. You could see the tension got to him at times but who could blame him? When they both realized that they could work together and around her injuries and she decided to trust him enough and go for it and that people got their connection, it was all over but the shouting. She could have never done it with anyone else and I think she has said that.
The whole thing was one of the most heartwarming things I have ever seen. I know people dissed on her whineyness but she was a physical and mental wreck. She never went into dancing, only acting, because she thought she would always be compared, unfavorably, to her Dad and embarrass him. I think Derek helped convince her that people really loved seeing her dance.
Great comments, Mimi.
Yes, Heidi, I knooooow (frown). I am just TRYING to hold out some hope. I’m selfish cause I wanna see him dance and on live tv. I wouldn’t be surprised to not see him on S14 I just want the door to stay open, cause I think he thrives from live audiences which he can get on B’way, but he can’t get those numbers/exposure. Like I said, I just hope he can alternate or at least come back once or twice.
I agree too, we’ve seen him do some great dances. I was one of the ones voting for he and Karina, tho, after seeing them live a couple of times. Actually I would love to see him dance with anyone but Lacey, Chelsie or Cheryl(just because they’ve danced tog alot.) I won’t be crushed if he doesn’t get it but I will have a huge repair bill if Mark (UGH), Maks or Lacey get it, from everything I’ll be throwing at my wall!
@mimi – DWTS has opened the door for quite a few celebrities and jump started their careers. Kelly Osbourne is one name that comes to mind. I don’t think Brooke and Nicole “owe” just Derek for their opportunities. Just being on the show in front of millions of viewers is part of the process as well.
Um, maybe I was not clear Sandy…that was just part of an on-going reply referring to Dereks partners. And No I did not mean literally owe, That is why I put it in quotes. I was including them having the opportunity and his part in it was that they won….And agreed it has happened for several but we were just talking about Derek at the particular time.
But I do think the pros on this show deserve more than they make.
Interesting that Louis is not on anyone’s list in the comments for returning next season! 😯
