I'm a fashion and music nut....and I have always loved dancing too of any kind. Dancing With The Stars seems to have this way of bringing all of those things together. Derek Hough (one of my favorite dancers) said at a recent Get Healthy event that ‘dancing’ is an outward expression of what is going on inside you. As someone mentioned in another thread, what happens when they’re down to 2 couples? Do the votes and scores for couple #3 get tossed out of the mix? I would think they’d have to, wouldn’t they? If Heidi’s doing a By The Numbers post, maybe she’ll mention it and I can stop hurting my brain trying to figure it out. *LOL*

Let’s see if I can explain this without sounding totally confusing
I would assume that the points for the 3rd person will remain in the mix, because omitting them altogether would unfairly skew the points distribution in favor of the person in the lead – remember, the greater the number of total points awarded, the smaller the margins between points. So let’s say after the favorite dance tomorrow night (and this is just an example for the sake of illustration), JR has 82 points, Ricki has 88 points, and Rob has 81 points. That means their respectve percentages are 32.67%, 35.06%, and 32.27%. Assuming Rob doesn’t get the votes to jump JR, he is eliminated. If they toss Rob’s points, that changes JR’s percentage to 48.24%, and Ricki’s to 51.76%, and rather than needing 24K votes per million votes cast to surpass Ricki, JR now needs over 35K. Biiiiig difference, and not really fair, since voting is already over. He may have had the votes to beat her going into Tuesday night, but if they suddenly toss Rob’s points out the window, the MBT could suddenly be Ricki’s…just because the terms of the scoring got changed. So yeah, I don’t think they’ll be omitting Rob’s points

Hopefully it made sense. I would say when in doubt, just go back to this basic principle: the fewer the total points, the more votes one needs to close gap.
Rob said his favorite dance was the Adams Family Tango… Mine too! Corny as it sounds, It was memorable and fun. I guess he had two favorite dances.

I’m sure everything will remain in the mix, evaine – I can’t see them complicating the formula that much. To do that, they would also have to subtract all of rob’s scores from the total points awarded. Certainly easy enough to do – but why bother to go through that whole effort?
It is good to see their final rehearsals. Glad JR’s foot is looking better – shouldn’t think you need to worry about judges’ scores JR fans (especially Courtney – don’t think I’ve ever seen you so stressed before a final!!) From the footage he seems to be on course for a 60 on the first night I would wager. His hips look fantastic. Hope Ricki is able to forget the whole stress of winning – and go out there and shake her stuff. I would like this final to live up to it’s promise. She seemed to be holding back a little in this footage – but then it is just a practice.
