Dancing With The Stars Mark Ballas Talks with ABC6 In Providence, Rhode Island! (Video)
Last night, Mark Ballas did a free musical performance at the Mohegan Sun in Uncasville, CT. Before doing so, he was interviewed by ABC6 in Providence, Rhode island. Mark talks of his musical style and his inspiration for music since he was 9 years old. He wants to be an all around performer like Gene Kelly who can dance and sing. The interviewer tries to get Mark to reveal some secrets for the next season of Dancing With The Stars. Mark wouldn’t reveal much except to say that none of the dancers know if they are coming back yet and they will in a few weeks. More below….
Speaking of Mark, the tweets between he and Good Morning America’s Lara Stone continue. He wants her to dance and be his partner so badly as well as Jennifer Aniston.
Adding: Below is some fun coverage of Mark from the Mohegan Sun You Tube Channel. Wow, I am liking this song! They may post more so watch the link.;
Music is his passion. I think he could use a season off to focus on it but the show is also the best way for him to sell his music. While I respect his ambitions, we all know the Gene Kelly is Derek Hough. Even casual fans refer to Derek as the one reminds them so much of Gene. Not saying equal and fan or not, I have to admire he natural talent of Derek as a performer. Maybe that is why some hate on him. Jealousy, etc. As all his past partners have said, it is sick how talented he is and so humble of about his many talents.,
Mark’s passion is not just music. He is balancing his career between music and dance. Mark only compared himself to Gene Kelly in the fact he wants to sing, dance and act-not just focus on one or the other. If you look at his off season activities, he did an equal amount of dancing and singing. He also has projects soon to be released that involve dance and acting. Mark’s career is quite balanced and I think he has realistic goals for the future.
I agree with Michele . Mark is an all round entertainer.He has a huge passion for music, but that is only what he wants to do. he wants to sing, dance, and act. He wasn’t calling himself Gene Kelley. Mark meant he wants to do it all.
For what it’s worth, I think the Gene Kelley reference is actually pretty apt for Mark – Gene was always known as a very assertive individual with a eye-catching, unique, & very athletic style of dance…he was also a Renaissance man, mastering music, dancing, & acting. I’ve always thought Derek’s style was more similar to that of Fred Astaire – very smooth, at-ease, and partner-focused. I think I’ve told Heidi this story before, but I don’t think I’ve shared it here…a few years back, after Cyd Charisse’s passing, her husband was giving an interview on his memories of his dearly departed wife. One interesting thing he said that stuck with me was that when Cyd got home from shooting a movie, he could always tell who she had been dancing with that day based on the bruises on her body – if there were several, odds were she had been dancing with the very athletic & hard-hitting Gene Kelley; if there were none, she had probably been dancing with the smoother, more easygoing Fred Astaire. I think Mark is definitely more of a “Gene” – very motivated & not afraid to take risks, & determined to set himself apart from the pack with his unique style.
I was at the event in Mohegan Sun! It was great! 🙂
