Speaking with The Hollywood Reporter at Sunday’s Grammy Awards, the OneRepublic frontman and multiple nominee let loose that his good pal DeGraw is pondering a campaign for ABC’s coveted mirror ball trophy.
“Gavin DeGraw is doing Dancing With the Stars, I heard,” Tedder spilled on the red carpet. The duo most recently collaborated on DeGraw’s “Not Over You” and “Sweeter,” and both have been known to gush about each other’s talents to the press — a true bromance.
“He’s amazing. He’s one of my favorite male singers alive,” Tedder added.
Watch the video above to hear his full quote, though it is not clear whether DeGraw has officially inked a deal with ABC to appear on the series. A representative for the network did not immediately return THR’s request for comment.

He might be familiar wit the shows older demo, but he is current. He has songs that have recently charted. He is not A list but great if the producers pulled casting a musician who is not looking for a comeback but current.
I LOVE his music! i think he would be cool paired with Anna T (I can jsut see them doing really well for some reason) or Karina (he seems like a person who would really get along well w her).
And on a sidenote, if that interview was at the grammys (which were great w the exception of nicki minaj) Ryan Tedder really didn’t dress up fro the ocassion.
That seems like Ryan’s style and you can get away with dressing down for the Grammys. I would love to see Gavin.
I wonder how much the show cares about who wins. Meaning we had two male winners. Will the want to see a female winner? Guessing it depends ultimately who the fans like but casting Kristi in season 6 after a bunch of male winners seemed pretty obvious. Kristi was the biggest slam dunk winner with no competition for her that season. Guess we will see when the cast is announced.
“Chariot” is one of my favorite songs and I like Gavin DeGraw’s style. The other day, I recognized his voice and was finding myself bobbing my head and I was like “Gavin’s BACK!!!” So for him to do DWTS as a IMO “Current” act, I think would be great for the show. I can’t wait to see how this plays out.
I’ve been saying for years they don’t care who wins, Melissa. I’m sure they prefer the big names go to the end, but winning? Nah.
True but I still think Kristi was to shut up critics that women never win, lol. I agree the show just wants big names. Who they think were hits like Cloris seems to not be the case with viewers. I think they love at combination of big names and votes like Hines Ward. steeler Nation is not messed with lol. That is why all those conspiracy rumors of the show making sure to have Derek win or set it up for him are foolish.
I feel like the producer only knew who would win from week one in only three seasons: 1) Kristi Yamaguchi (from week one to the finale she dominated) 2) Donny Osmond (last name Osmond and being the more popualr one wthis was a no brainer) and 3) Jennifer Gray ( from week one she was the one to beat) (I don’t think they expected Nicole to win because that was a really close season). Saying that every other season had a surprise winner. Honestly the producers were probably surprised that Apollo truned out to be as good as he was or that Hines was as good as he was.
@melissa: I guess you’r right just saw the red carpet photos and in contrast to some really crazy outfits (Nicki Minaj and Adam Levine’s girlfriend are prime examples) that was pretty good lol. Surprisingly, gaga didn’t come in an egg. Kinda disapointed.
Never heard of Gavin. Guess I’m showing my age.
Btw, is Ryan O’Neal a given or not for this season? I see he has started to tweet some and now has a new website to go with his Facebook page.
Nothing yet Winter. If Ryan is dancing, I think TPTB have him and this new cast so tight lipped right now on it.

@Sandy: I’m glad you put McGraw becuase I was watching Dr. Phil the other day and he said something about the show wanting him or his wife on it.
I wish Dr. Phil would do the show.
@Zach: I think it would be a hoot to see him on the show but then he would start to try to psychoanlyze the pros and contestants and judges lol. Bruno would probs be his first victim lol
