Wow, Maks has no jewelry on. Unusual.
I like his hair combed back like that, but I think he looks better without facial hair, although I know its the style these days. I never understood why men with the most beautiful faces cover them up with some version of facial hair.
Good interview…I find it interesting that he said if he had grown up here in the states, he would have been an athlete instead of a dancer. He did win that Athletic challenge thingy that was on a few years ago. Wonder what sport he would have chosen?
On his facial hair…he looks like one of those guys who has to shave twice a day because of his heavy beard. That’s probably why he stays scruffy. Still purty, though!
He’d have been a swimmer, Auntie B. He was at the Russian Olympic training camps as a kid and then… I’m not sure why he stopped and went exclusively into dance. I think it was that his parents didn’t want him away from home without them at such a young age.
You are correct Evaine. He has stated that he would have had to leave home, as a kid, to train for swimming and his parents didn’t want that.
IMO, facial hair for guys is a lot like concealer and blush for women. It allows them to hide or highlight different parts of the face. I don’t have a problem with it. I think Maks wears it well.
I know Maks enjoyed skiing but he suffered a bad leg break when he was fourteen yrs. Maybe he would have returned to the slopes if he had the chance??
With his long legs and arms, Maks would’ve been ideally built to be a swimmer, I think.
That’s the problem in America….guys feel it’s more macho to go into sports than to dance. SO WRONG….if they only knew what women like. That’s why DWTS is good for America…..nd you’ll notice all the male pros are now STRAIGHT.
Joanie, I do think the guys like Maks, Val, Tony, and Tristan do help to show that you can be macho and still be a dancer.
Evaine, I would never have guessed swimmer for Maks. Because he comes from such a cold climate. I would have guessed skier or hockey player. Upon reflection however, indoor heated pools are everywhere.
DWTS has shown that male dancers are not all effeminate. Derek, Maks, Tony, Val, etc. show that a dancer can be very macho and sexy. I admit that I have a whole new appreciation!
