DWTS14 Maria Menounos Feels The Motions Of Learning How To Dance And Juggling A Crazy Schedule

What a great new TV Guide interview with Maria Menounos on how she’s currently juggling rehearsals for Dancing With The Stars and her heavy work schedule!! She only gives herself a “3” when asked on how good of a dancer she is from “0 to 10″. Although, when she is in the mood to dance, she definitely has some rhythm when it comes to “hip-hop or whatever.” She doesn’t want so say she is horrendous at dancing either since she’s learning now from the best dancer in the world. More below on how she’s learning the Cha Cha and if the steps are coming easy. Be sure to read the full interview at TV Guide. Lots more at Pure Derek Hough on these two and even more to come I am sure. :)

How’s the cha-cha going?
Menounos: It’s going well. What plays into all of this is fatigue ,and you don’t really think about that. Like the other day, I felt like I had a really good rehearsal. I was sharp and on point. And the next day, I was so tired because I had worked until midnight the night before and I was a little tired by the middle of rehearsal and I was getting frustrated with myself. Now I have to figure out how to do all of this. .. [I'm] being really smart about how I use my time … and try to reserve energy and eat healthy foods. I have to think about how to play the game almost.

So are the steps coming easily to you and it’s the stamina that’s hard?
Menounos: It’s everything. It’s a real massive undertaking. I have 18,000 full-time jobs along with this, so it’s balancing my schedule. It’s trying to clear as much of my schedule until the end of May that I can possibly can. Then the mental end is really learning how not get too frustrated with yourself and how to balance the emotion. The eating thing is about to get really important as I’m getting deeper into rehearsals. Then, I have to make sure I rest as much as possible, nap when I can. We’re doing six-hour rehearsals.

Thanks to Sally for making sure we get this news up!!!xxx

ADDING: And here they are on Extra rehearsing as well…

I'm a fashion and music fan....and I have always loved dancing too of any kind. Dancing With The Stars seems to have this way of bringing all of those things together. DWTS Cheryl Burke Tells William Levy: ‘This is not a dancing club or salsa or whatever. This is ballroom.’

Wow! Cheryl and William are steaming hotness in my opinion. Local 10 in Miami interviewed them this morning. Here’s a take and be sure to read more at the link. Ssssss….

“She is telling me the whole time, ‘This is not a dancing club or salsa or whatever. This is ballroom,'” Levy said. “It’s completely different.”

Ballroom dancing is new for the actor, and for the past five days, he has been crunching in as many ballroom moves as he can during rehearsals.

“For the premiere, we have one dance, which is cha-cha, and no one gets eliminated the first week,” Burke said. “That’s what makes the show so interesting is the time crunch and the stress and to see if you guys are going to have chemistry or not, so it keeps it fun.”

The real fun begins next week when the couple cha-chas their way to Hollywood for the big show.

“This is cool. This is something new in my life, in my career, so as long as you do something for fun and you have fun doing it,” Levy said.

And here is the video of the interview in rehearsal;

Access Hollywood has some great new interviews up with Jack Wagner!! He talks of his rehearsals with “task master” and Dancing With The Stars partner Anna Trebunskaya. He also talks of the daughter he’s never met, General Hospital, Melrose Place, his hit song in the 80’s, and lots more below….

The Top 10 Worst First Week Cha-Cha’s in DWTS History

Ahhhh, yes – the cha-cha.  The only first week dance that has remained the same in all 14 seasons of the show – they’ve often vacillated between the waltz, foxtrot, and Viennese waltz as the first week ballroom dance from season to season, but they’ve always had the cha-cha as a week 1 Latin dance.  That’s 75 regular week 1 cha-cha’s (I’m not counting the cha-cha relay from season 9 – the scoring is too funky) for me to run the stats on, to give us an idea of what we might expect in the coming week :-) So before I run down the list of the biggest “Oh god, that was baaaaaad!” week 1 cha-cha moments, here are a few interesting cha-cha stats:

*The lowest cha-cha score in DWTS history is 12 – and it’s a 3-way tie between Master P & Ashly, Tucker & Elena, and Jeff & Edyta.  Two of the couples were eliminated the first week of their respective seasons – and all 3 female pros are no longer on the show :-) (ok, that last one was probably not a direct cause of a bad cha-cha, but just an interesting coincidence ;-))

*Five former DWTS champions did cha-cha as their week 1 dance (Drew, Emmitt, Apolo, Brooke, & Hines).

*The pro who’s done the most week 1 cha-cha’s is Cheryl – she’s started 9 of her 12 seasons on the show with a cha-cha.

*A female celeb didn’t dance the cha-cha as a week 1 dance until season 5 – up until that point, the ladies had always done a ballroom dance the first week, and the men had always done cha-cha.

Now…without further ado…I give you the worst week 1 cha-cha’s in DWTS history :-) Season 14 celebs, pay attention! This is for your own good…do not try to emulate these routines!

10.) Clyde & Elena, season 4

I never got the feeling that Clyde was actually making a genuine effort during his season, really.  I think his handlers probably signed him up for the show just to get him some exposure, and it was never something Clyde really wanted to do – he just seemed to do the bare minimum each week and probably hoped to get voted off quickly. His whole “outrage” over Len pointing out that some couples weren’t practicing enough just really made me think that Clyde the Glide doth protest too much – he wasn’t putting in the hours and he knew it.  On top of the apathy, there was a huge height difference between he & Elena, and at 6’7″, he was generally just kinda ungainly…add that altogether and you’ve got a cha-cha that’s just kind of an awkward non-event.

9.) Billy Ray & Karina, season 4

I’m not sure who I feel worse for here – Billy Ray or Karina.  Billy Ray really was kind of “a left-footed hillbilly from Kentucky” (his own words), and this cha-cha was a pretty hot mess.  I like to call this “drunk uncle at a wedding” dancing – some random grooving & flailing & forgotten footwork from Billy Ray while Karina did some cha-cha around him.   But I will say this – unlike Clyde, who had probably phoned it in before the season even started, I do think Billy Ray was giving it his all the entire season.  This poor guy REALLY wanted to do well for Karina, and he did put in the effort – but some people are just not natural dancers, and Billy Ray is unfortunately in that camp. More DWTS14 Interviews With Melissa, Val, Sherri, Peta, Donald, Kym, And Jaleel!! (Videos)

Melissa Gilbert was a guest on 95.5 KLOS radio today in Los Angeles. She is so excited about dancing next week. She has the day off today, but, said she and Maks have been rehearsing 5 hours a day, 6 days a week. The one thing on her body that is feeling numb at the moment is her “feet”. Other than that, her tush is “heading back up” versus how it looked before rehearsals started. She raved about Maks saying he is a “Jalapeno on a Stick” and “extraordinary”. He’s designed their first costume and it will be “backless”. Their first dance will be a “Latin” dance …and “really hot” and “unexpected.” There is ‘no prairie’ in it. Melissa is also loving all of her cast mates and raved about Gladys Knight saying how loving, positive, and generous she is. Stay tuned to the live streaming link. Melissa plans on giving 95.5 KLOS an interview every Monday morning on her Dancing With The Stars journey!!

More from Access Hollywood!! These interviews are from when the couples were taking pics and filming footage for the promos and title shoot.

In the first video below, Kym Johnson and Jaleel White talk about how they didn’t know who each other were at first. They had to “google” one another. Jaleel was relieved when he found out Kym was a past champion on Dancing With The Stars. Donald and Peta were interviewed as well. Donald says he’s ready to wear tight pants and do anything to win Dancing With The Stars. He promised his Green Bay Packer team mates that he won’t be the one to be voted off first. Lots more from them below…

Jaleel talks about a new blog and having the Fox Trot next week in this new interview with Access Hollywood as well….

Below is Sherri and Val!! Sherri says she’s doing the show for her son and working mothers to show them you can do anything you want to do. Val has told her that she needs to use her “abs”, but, she only has a big belly. She goes on saying she didn’t sign on to do gym class…and says she’s not a stripper either. 8O LOL! They are going to be funny. More below….

Tracy Morgan and Tina Fey give dancing advice to Sherri. Check it out here.

DWTS The Closest Thing To Dancing For Gavin DeGraw Was Parking Cars At A Nightclub

One more week until showtime of Dancing With The Stars!! It seems like an eternity, I know. However, the lead up can be just as fun. Below is a little interview with Gavin DeGraw from WZZM13 in Grand Rapids, Michigan to get the day started.

ADDING: Karina has a new blog up at People.com. Below is take where she talks abut Gavin, Detriot, and the rest of the cast…

Right now, my Dancing with the Stars partner Gavin DeGraw and I in are Detroit, and it’s freezing. I’m like, “Oh, my gosh, it’s so cold. Thirty degrees is not warm.” Gavin is touring right now and we need to find time to rehearse, so I came out here with him. He’s doing his best not to overload himself with too much work. So far, it’s been amazing. And I’m actually going to one of his shows for the first time.

Gavin’s a great partner but he’s never danced before. He was never in dance classes or anything like that when he was a kid but he’s been working really hard. Plus, he’s got swagger and charisma, which always helps in the ballroom. I’ve had a blast rehearsing with him so far. He’s funny and he’s self-deprecating in many ways. The new season, which premieres March 19, has been amazing so far.

The rest of the cast is great and very diverse. There are people who have some dancing experience and some who do not. I think this season is going to be very competitive. I think people will be very pleasantly surprised when the show airs.
