DWTS Season 14, Week 2 – Dancing by the Numbers
Ai Ai Ai!!! If you are an overly sensitive fan of any of the couples, this post isn’t for you. What a crap ass night of scoring – the dancing was just fine and many couples excelled…but the judges made a secret trip to Columbia before the season started. And dropped a good bit of coin.
And really, you can’t get Derek and Maria’s phone number right?? Jesus – then you fix it (or try to) during Martina and Tony’s skybox chat..and, if I’m not mistaken, never show their number?? I try REALLY REALLY hard not to buy into conspiracy theories – the simplest explanation always being the best and all that (the simplest explanation is that some of the people working on this show are MUPPETS) – but when you so obviously overscore Sherri and (to a lesser extent) Roshon and then just totally screw over Melissa and Jack what do you expect me to do?? I can’t even describe my thoughts on William and Cheryl without using language that John doesn’t approve of. 🙂 I’ll just say…so William sticks his ass out and looks uncertain most of the time and he gets one of the higher scores of the night?? At least good old Len doesn’t have a vagina. I’m counting on him to keep it real where William is concerned. Now, if he would throw away the memo from the ABC brass that says “Score the family HIGH”, I would be so proud of him. Seriously, Martina would need well more than 22K votes more than William – they are VERY invested in protecting this guy.
Anyway, I could go on all day. Remember, the scores from last week and this week are added together for the couples total. The total number of points awarded is then divided into the couples total for their percentage of the judges scores. That counts for half of the couples total score. The other half is treated the same way – the total number of votes divided into the votes for a given couple. When you add the two percentages together, the couple with the lowest combined total goes home.
Let’s look at the couples and their percentages of the total:
The Judges Scores and Percentages
Place | Celebrity | Score | Percentage |
1. | Katherine | 52 | 9.65 |
2. | William | 49 | 9.09 |
2. | Roshon | 49 | 9.09 |
4. | Jaleel | 48 | 8.91 |
5. | Maria | 46 | 8.53 |
5. | Sherri | 46 | 8.53 |
7. | Donald | 45 | 8.35 |
8. | Jack | 44 | 8.16 |
9. | Gladys | 42 | 7.79 |
10. | Gavin | 41 | 7.61 |
11. | Melissa | 40 | 7.42 |
12. | Martina | 37 | 6.86 |
:::sigh::: It’s a great season and even the worst dancers are doing better than the best dancers in many other seasons…so why do the judges insist on playing crazy games?? Katherine did a great job, but in what universe does William get only one point less than her?? They weren’t even close. I don’t think William was even close to Maria. Roshon got the same score tonight as William – he is also not worthy of a point less than Katherine, but he was better than William by a good bit..and he’s such a little cutie. I didn’t think I would like him, but I really do! But he and Sherri’s status with ABC was really showing tonight. Melissa still has issues…but no way was she that much worse than Sherri who missed an entire pass. Who was appropriately scored, IMO?? Well, Gavin, Jaleel, Jack, Donald, Maria and Katherine – but when compared to how other couples were overscored (or in some cases underscored), I’m not so sure any more.
Who’s in danger?? Well, Martina, obviously. What does she need in order to be safe?? She needs ONE of the following things to happen:
– Martina needs to get 5,565 more votes per million votes cast than Melissa; OR
– She needs to get 7,425 more votes per million votes cast than Gavin, OR;
– She needs to get 9,280 more votes per million votes cast than Gladys, OR;
– She needs to get 13k more votes per million votes cast than Jack, OR;
– She needs to get 14,900 more votes per million votes cast than Donald.
– She needs to get 16,700 more votes per million votes cast than either Sherri or Maria
And it goes up from there. Martina MIGHT be able to beat Gavin, but I don’t think she beats anyone else other than maybe Jack. That number of votes between her and Melissa is really pretty darn small. Let’s say that Martina gets the votes to pass Melissa (even though I wager pissed off Maks fans alone can span that gap), what does Melissa need to survive another week?? She needs ONE of the following:
– She needs 1,860 more votes per million votes cast than Gavin, OR;
– She needs 3,715 more votes per million votes cast than Gladys, OR;
– She needs 7,425 more votes per million votes cast than Jack, OR;
– She needs 9,280 more votes per million votes cast than Donald, OR;
– She needs 11,135 more votes per million votes cast than either Sherri or Maria
Personally, I think Melissa can pass both Gavin and Jack, but I’m skeptical about her getting by anyone else. So the question for Melissa fans is – can Martina generate more votes than her and can both of them get the required votes that would send Gavin home? This is a bit of a tough call. What sends Gavin packing? If all of the following things happen, Gavin goes home:
– Martina gets 7,425 more votes per million votes cast than he does, AND;
– Melissa gets 1,860 more votes per million votes cast than he does, AND;
– Gavin DOESN’T get 1,855 more votes per million votes cast than Gladys, AND;
– Gavin Doesn’t get 5,565 more votes per million votes cast than Jack, AND;
– Gavin doesn’t get 7,425 more votes per million votes cast than Donald, and so on from there.
Martina is the key here; I don’t see her getting 7,425 more votes per million votes cast than Gavin, nor do I see her getting the 5,565 needed to stay over Melissa. Those aren’t huge numbers at all, but I don’t think I see it happening. IF she were to, on an off chance, manage to beat Gavin, I certainly see Melissa getting the 1,860 more votes per million votes cast needed in order to stay over Gavin. For these reasons, I think it’s down to Martina and Gavin; with Martina going home.
Nobody seems terribly worried about Gladys; and I confess I’m not either. If she makes me look bad, I’ll be pissed, cuz I love her. 🙂 Are you worried about Jack? Think he’s going to be a “shocking” elimination? That’s a valid fear, until you look at the math. This season seems pretty crazy, but I don’t think this will happen. For Jack to go home, ALL of the following things would have to happen:
– Martina gets 13K more votes per million votes cast than he does, AND;
– Melissa gets 7,425 more votes per million votes cast than he does, AND;
– Gavin gets 5,565 more votes per million votes cast than he does, AND;
– Gladys gets 3,710 more votes per million votes cast than he does, AND;
– Jack DOESN’T get 1,955 more votes per million votes cast than Donald, and;
– Everyone above Jack gets more votes than he does.
Now, I can certainly see Melissa’s and Gladys’ fanbases carrying them past Jack, and I think the people above Jack are getting more votes than him, but I don’t see Gavin or Martina getting those kind of votes. I could be wrong. I have been in the past.
Basically, based on the numbers, I see the top 6 dancers being safe since the voting margin between them and Martina (at least) is so high. I think Donald is likely safe based on sheer force of personality. It’s the bottom five where things get murky. At the end of the day, I think Gladys and Melissa have big enough fanbases to be called safe. Jack is a big question mark, but I’m going to say he’s safe for this week. That leaves us with Gavin and Martina…and I think Gavin is with us for another week. Maybe. 🙂
These are my favorite posts of the week! I love seeing the numbers, it clears things up.
I agree it’s down to Martina and Gavin with Melissa and Jack as possibilities.
I wonder if Martina and Melissa are competing for similar voters, the middle aged female vote. And with Gladys getting probably most of that vote, there’s even less to compete for. Both are in a dangerous position being at the bottom and needing to pass Gavin.
Also of note, I tried to get through on Gladys and William’s lines last night. Busy signals for a good 10-15 minutes after the show.
I got through with no problem on Roshon, Sherri, and Gavin’s lines.
I tried calling for Maria during the show and kept getting the “You have already used all your votes” message…which means that the circuits are overloaded generally. It’s a glitch. I kept trying and got that message every other call.
Great post and I’m so glad to see others aren’t on the William bandwagon. I’m hoping Martina got the votes to hang on one more week, but really tough to call.
Ah, been waiting for this! I can see Martina’s fan base being bigger than Gavin’s, but in this case, I think Martina does go home. I’ll stick with Melissa as a wild card, but I do think she and Maks have enough of a voting base to keep them there for a couple of weeks anyway. Sad though, I’d love for Martina to have one more shot at it.
Another great post Heidi. Thanks for the hard work hun because it really places things in perspective. At least for me it does.
I am really hoping it is Gavin who exits tonight. I will be seriously upset if it turns out to be Martina, Jack or Melissa.
Those three are putting everything they have into each and every routine and are genuinely enjoying themselves.
I think Gavin is transparent in the fact he is only doing this gig because of Karina. Did he not turn down the invite and then she called him and convinced him to do it? Yes he has managed to pull off what is required of him thus far, but judging by Karina’s reaction during their pkg, I think she is having “buyers remorse” so to speak.
I would much rather have him go than the three (even though their execution was flawed) simply due to their dedication and respect they show to their Pros and the process.
Gave all of my votes to Jack this week, just on the off-shot that he isn’t getting as many as I’m hoping he is.
Based on performance alone, I think Martina should go home. Based on likability? I’d send Gavin home. I think whichever one doesn’t go home this week will likely go next week, unless there’s some miraculous improvement.
Great post Heidi! Thanks for taking the time to do it! I agree with you that I think Martina and Gavin are going to be in the bottom two but I think it’s going to be Gavin going home. I think Martina will stay, but not by much, and it’ll be because I think her fanbase combined with whatever fanbase Tony has will get her by. I think Gavin is coming across as not really invested in this and I think that might come back to haunt him whether it be this week or one in the future. I’m not sure how big Martina’s fanbase is but she is being pimped out. I was watching ESPN the weekend before the show started and their ticker kept flashing that Donald and Martina were competing this season. The WTA and Tennis Channel have been pimping Martina. Pam Shriver has been tweeting. Granted I don’t know if those things will ultimately help but I think she might be able to barely pass Gavin but I don’t think she’ll pass really anyone else.
I gave a couple of my votes to Jaleel and the rest to Jack for the same reason. I also think Melissa or Jack will end up in fake jeopardy.
I couldn’t decide who to vote for so i kinda split my votes between Derek and Maria, Roshon and Chelsie, and (because i felt really bad for him) Jack. Judges were to harsh on him especially carrie ann.
Thank you for this post. Great read and good points. Honestly, I think one of the worst parts about signing on to do this show is realizing that you could get booted at the start because everything is fubar with the judges and their comments/scoring. Once everything settles down they realize (without saying it) that they, perhaps, torpedoed someone or someones by mistake.
excellent post and especially needed given the wackier scoring and higher performance levels this season – good preparation for tonight
Heidi there are some weeks I agree with you and some weeks I don’t. This week I TOTALLY AGREE! Not only did they screw up Derek and Maria’s number by posting William’s number in its place, but then they posted “Marla” instead of “Maria” on the leaderboard. Bad Bad Bad ABC! Derek and Maria were underscored the first week as well. Sherry almost tripped over herself twice during her routine and none of the judges noticed? William’s routine was ok but not nearly as good as any of the 7 couples who danced before him. How does he get that score? Just because people cheer for the hunk in the studio, doesn’t mean he did a good dance. Its judging like this that kept people like Bristol and others around while better dancers went home that has damaged the DWTS franchise. Their ratings are suffering because of it. If they don’t start judging everyone on the same scale each week the show will shrink to insignificance and be cancelled. This has started off as such a good season with so many good competitors, even Tom and Brooke seem to have gelled, now if the judges would only judge fairly the show could have it’s best season ever!
Excellent original article 🙂 agree with everything !!!!
Thanks so much Heidi! I look so forward to these and I knew this was going to be a goodie!!! 😉 I hope it’s Gavin that’s leaving. Wow, and I didn’t realize until this post for how low Melissa was. Yikes, but, like you, I think she’ll be safe. Anyway, so interesting!!
Adding: and I have to wonder about the conspiracy theories too sometimes. How could they mess up on Derek and Maria’s number like that? Then there are the judges and their odd scoring.
Thank you , Heidi, for all the hard work breaking down the numbers. Or , maybe it’s not hard for you. I have difficulty just absorbing it all. But it does help me see how the wack-job judges scores fit in with the voting. William, with 9’s????? It’s only the second week , and in my opinion, nobody deserves 9’s yet. Over-scoring, under-scoring, tonight is gonna to make my head hurt. Glad I have some wine left for medicinal purposes. 🙂
The hardest part about it, Auntie, is the wrapping your head around all the different scenarios (if this happens, then this happens…). I try to make it as simple as possible cuz even my brain hurts after and hour or so of working on these things. 🙂
Great work, numbers can be so interesting, thanks Heidi. I just can’t understand the judges scoring this year, so far. Hope they do improve and treat everyone equally – probably to much to ask for. I also think it may be Martina tonight – sad for that.
My wife and I hope that Gavin goes – he just doesn’t seem to be trying, plus isn’t he on tour?
Reminds me of when Macy(?) a couple of seasons ago had to have her pro go to Europe, I think it was London.
And by the way, Heidi, thanks for all the work on the numbers. Even if you have a spreadsheet program it is a lot of work for data entry. But does it ever help to see the scenarios, and sometimes realize what a surprise an elimination really is!
Heidi, thank you for getting a headache for our benefit 😛
I honestly think that anyone paired with Derek, Maks and now Tristan can survive the first couple of eliminations just on their pro’s fanbase – all 3 have some serious power-voters going for them. So that really means Martina is toast, and if he doesn’t get it together soon, Gavin ain’t far behind.
While I do agree that Derek, Maks, and to a lesser extent (for now) Tristan have sizable fanbases, you can’t win this show with out the general public. So, yes, they might stick for a while based on that, but Gladys and Melissa are going to have to do better, and Maria is going to have to keep the standard high.
Thank you very much. I’ve been very worried for Jack and Anna. They still are not “safe”, but at least the danger feels less imminent. I’m also hoping Anna has a bit of a fan base, too. I’d like for Martina to get another week, but not at the expense of Jack or Melissa. So, I suppose that leaves Gavin and Martina as my choices to leave first, too.
I wish the final votes were made available to us. Didn’t they do that in the earlier seasons?
Notice how, when TPTBTAHTBM(the powers that be that also happen to be muppets) used William’s voting number instead of Maria’s in the skybox. I’m really starting to believe in conspiracy now, rediculous, you’d think after 13 seasons they’d know how that works. I think it’s definetly between GVin and Martina, I gotta go with Gavin being eliminated. My brain says Martina, but my gut says Gavin, and I’ve learned that when it comes to predicting eliminations, not to trust my brain. If there is a shock elimiantion, I’d say Jack, but I doubt that wil happen.
Thank you, Heidi – I always love these numbers posts. As someone above said, it really puts things in perspective. My reactions on the live night are usually tied to emotions (especially after the 2nd glass of wine LOL). A lot of emotions given the whacko judging this season. Dropping acid along with that good bit of coin. Listen, Sherri is a joy to watch, truly. I didn’t think I would like her, but I adore this pair. I’m always smiling when they’re dancing. She flubs an entire segment of her choreo and receives a higher score than Jack? than Melissa? And only 1 point lower than Donald? Nepotism much? They go on and on about it all being about the frame in the ballroom rounds, yet William’s posture was awful, his bum sticks out, and he’s tied for 2nd for the night, on par with Maria? He must be negotiating a contract with ABC, right?
Look, I like them all. I don’t want any one to go home tonight. This is the best group we’ve ever had, so let them all do their thing and let the chips fall where they will, without the judges trying to skew things according to some agenda. Every time they try this tricky dicky stuff, they skew themselves.
if it’s on the dancing, Martina will be the first to go
it it were up to me, I’d send Gavin home, put him out of his misery. Saving Martina will only put off the inevitable for a very short time, but I’d just love to give her one more shot at this.
Heidi, what would I do without you? Thanks for another excellent post! This one always puts things into a better perspective for me & I always look forward to it. Thanks again : )
Am I the only one having a problem deciphering Gavins “persona”? Im not sure if he’s nervous or just doesn’t care. Im positive he’s the one going tonight. I thought with him being a singer he’d be a better dancer, like most of the singers are that have appeared on the show have been.
@Jay- I agree with you on the judges. I gave credit to Len for stepping up w/ Donald. It did make me pause though when Len said “we have a split second to make a decision” – I probably paraphrased that so sorry in advance. The reason I paused was that I also remember an earlier comment about them actually doing scoring during dress rehearsals. So, it makes me wonder how much attention they genuinely give during the live show.
@Andrea: Good catch on “Marla”. I missed that one.
IMO about the conspiracy: I was willing to initially overlook the mistake of posting the wrong number. It is live TV and that mistake has been made before. HOWEVER, when that is combined with mis-spelling, posting the number of a couple who had yet to dance and having it all happen with a couple that could be a real contender for the finals Me Smells Something Funny and not in a good way.
On a completely different note: I think we need to start a Pure DWTS Dictionary! Enteries to be included:
Asshattery
Love Hand
Back Ground Poop – (luv’d this @Sandy! :mrgreen:)
Great posting, Heidi! You are amazing!I hope Gavin gets the boot this week and Martina gets to try again another week, simply because she has a lot of heart. If she isn’t eliminated this week, she’ll probably go next week. I agree about the judges’ scores. I can’t believe they were watching the same dances we were: a lot of their scores had no basis in reality.
The judges do not see the dress rehearsals, they use stand-in judges. And the Maria number mistake was fixed at least for the west coast feed.
OOPS! Amendment:
Background Poop – Courtesy of Sally (#113) in WK 2 Power Ranking thread.
Need to also add:
PEEPS
TPTB
This makes a dictionary, cookbook and music lists (by John), videos + newsletter.
Do ya think we should just go ahead and build a library? LOL
#Ms. Taz – I had the same thought regarding a Pure DWTS dictionary/thesaurus. Maybe combine it with the cookbook & beverages guide? 😀
They show pictures and video all the time of dress rehearsals, Taz, and the judges aren’t there. The only time a dress get scored is when the person in question gets hurt and can’t dance. Then they score it from video – and sometimes it’s not even the dress but the camera blocking.
@MCZetting: I like the way you think! The beverage guide is also a must!
@Heidi and Pure Team: Can the budget accomodate all this? 😉
Courtney is in charge of cookbooks, I’m in charge of booze. And all is as it should be. 🙂
@Heidi + @Buttercup:
OK thank you for the clarification. I knew the judges did score at rehearsals. I just didn’t realize it was only when someone is injured. Filing that one away for future reference! 😉
Love your numbers post but it sure makes my head spin – LOL
I really hope Martina gets to stay another week – she is trying so hard out there. Gavin doesn’t seem to be trying as hard.
Guess we’ll find out soon enough!!!
@Heidi: LOL! Love it – glad everything is under control!
Ms Taz – the judges never score AT rehearsals, they’ll watch a video of the rehearsal during the live show if needed to score it.
During dress rehearsal they run through the entire show with FAKE judges giving FAKE scores and FAKE comments. It’s pretty funny actually, they’ve used the same fake judges for many seasons.
Another word for your dictionary…boobalicious… I think that is what you call Kim in the “who wore it better” posts. Or did I get that wrong? Whatever that phrase is you use, I like it!
It’s “She of the awesome Boobage” = Kym Johnson. 🙂
Oh yes, that is right. Thank you…that is hilarious!
Was that Lacey as a brunette again?
Did William really say that we haven’t seen him topless yet? Barf, and double Barf …. I am so sick of him, and he looks like he is not aging that well in the face and hair. How old is he?
@Sandy:
I didn’t recognize Lacey at all.
William is 31M
And it better be a HUGE JOKE that my boy Roshon is in the bottom or Taz is going to throw a spaz!!!!!!!!
I thought that was her standing next to Kyle. I could be wrong though. 🙂
No you’re not wrong! That was Lacey! I didn’t recognize her cause I’m so used to seeing her as a blonde!
Can just say also how nice of an addition Emma and Henry are to the troupe? That is the first time I have seen them and it was such a treat! Peta and Tristan did a beautiful job as well!
OK the She Devil has arrived!
1). To TPTB: Placing Roshon in faux bottom – NOT FUNNY
2) Martina Exiting: After hearing Gavin’s reply to Tom, are you seriously trying to tell me that guy is in this thing for real? C’mon people we’re not idiots. That woman gave 110% and there is no way she should have left tonight. It is not JUST dancing IMO that makes a champion or worthy of a pass to head into the next week.
Lacey is four colored hair again. Ugh.
Taz, seriously, the only reason Roshon was in the FAKE bottom two was because he’s probably not getting the votes that the ABC/Disney TPTB want him to get. They want you to spend half the night voting for him next week to get his numbers up there. So freakin’ transparent.
@Heidi: I know you’re right-I just hope it won’t affect the chemistry between he and Chelsie. I don’t either of them to start second guessing themselves. I honestly think these two can go farther than what I even initially thought. You know what I mean?
Heidi’s numbers were spot on…:( I really didn’t want Martina to go. She seemed to want to be in this thing. Gavin not so much.
@Sandy…I’m sick of William , too. He really isn’t that good looking, in my opinion. The boys of the dance put him to shame in the looks department. Tristan, The Brothers Chmerkovskiy, Derek, Tony, and Mark are so much prettier. 🙂
It won’t. Besides, he could do with a bit of humility. But Chelsie should know how the show works by now.
Every single male pro is better looking than William. I was looking at the guy tonight wondering what it was I was missing – cuz I don’t get it. Maks, who I personally don’t find attractive, is much better looking than William.
@Heidi: Thanks for the reassurance. I agree with Auntie as well….kudos on the numbers – you nailed it! 😉
Speaking of good lookins, and I don’t want to start a showmance or anything, it is purely observation:
Has anyone else noticed Val and Chelsie? In the skybox last night he had his arm around her. Tonight in the group Pro number, she was his partner and again had their arms around each other at the end.
@Ms. Taz
I noticed that too with Val and Chelsie; I wish they danced together every results night. I think I saw Maks give Peta a kiss on the side of hear head at the end of the pro-number and she gave him a back hug/snuggle too. I’m thinking dancers and just more snuggly:) If there were any truth to our speculations, those would be some gorgeous pairs.
@Harriett: Yes, you’re correct Maks did do that. I also agree that a lot of them are touchy feely. They’ve known each other (all of the Pros) for a long time, so I don’t find it out of place with a kiss here or there. Both couples would make great pairings though if true.
@Harriet & Ms. Taz: I agree, I think dancers in general are just more touchy feely. I think I’ve heard a few of the pros say that they are like that or don’t believe the personal space thing (to paraphrase) in various interviews. It kind of makes sense when you think about it. Also out of those 4 mentioned I don’t think they’re all single.
That was a really nice pro number. It’s nice to see them all do a dance together. I also really like the troupe. I can’t wait to see what they come up with for the rest of the season. I do wish that they’d keep the same dancers in it for more than one season (like all of them not just a few).
@Allie + @Harriett:
You’re right – The last I knew Peta was living w/Damien Whitewood in LA and as of November last year Chelsie was dating Adam. According to Chelsie’s wikipedia page though she is currently not dating anyone. As for Maks and Val, they did an interview just before this season started and they both said at the time they were single also. But who knows?
[…] Called Martina going home with a possibility of […]
Val’s fans say he has a GF…who knows for real? Chelsie attended Maks’s birthday party in NYC, so they are buddies. Other than that and that they are both Repubs….I don’t think they are sharing any other personal”interests” wink 🙂
This is off topic but I hope you don’t mind that I post it: 🙂
Over the weekend my grandson brought home “Spongebob Dancing with the Stars” book to read, with the competition being held at the Krusty Krab with Tom Sturgeon as the host, judges were Len Dory, Bruno Trout, and Pearl Krabs.
Since reading this book and seeing the host and judges as sea creatures. Tom actually fit the character quite well, I don’t know if I will ever be able to take the judges seriously again. All I see now at the judges table are gills, fins, and fishlips… 🙂
This is why I come here…You guys know all sorts of stuff I would never know…here I was thinking I spent wayyyy too much time on this computer, but now ,I think I don’t spend enough.
I have noticed Chelsie popping up in pictures of Val’s b-day cupcakes, at Maks’ bday party, and now that you guys call my attention to it, they were partners in the cast dance opening last night. They would make a cute couple. 🙂
I loved the group dance,too. It’s nice to see all the pros dancing full out, showing us what they can do when they’re with their peers.
@Sandy:
Aww that is so cute! Lol. Did the Pros get portrayals?
This is the first time I have heard of a DWTS spoof in book form.
I’ve seen it with cartoons + on other tv shows, but this is a first!
@Auntie:
We’ll keep ya on the straight + narrow with the 411! 😉
I really enjoyed the Pro and troupe dances last night too.
They are able to show you more complicated choreo and technique that for obvious reasons the celebs can’t do.
My fav though had to be Peta and Tristan’s dance – that was just beautiful.
Ms. Taz, I was also disappointed to see Roshon “in jeopardy”. But I’ve been watching this show for a long time–as soon as they did it I knew it was probably b/c he wasn’t pulling the votes they think he should, and they’re trying to rile his fanbase. It works–I’ll probably be voting for him next week unless he bombs or does something super obnoxious. But he was already in my top three anyway.
Interesting thoughts about Chelsie and Val. That’s a couple I could get behind I think, and I never “ship”, I actually normally find it quite ridiculous to “ship”. But they would be cute together, and I remember an interview with Val where he said he’s so opposite of Maks, re: the kind of women they like. He said Maks likes the feisty, athletic ones, and he usually goes for the “quiet girls in the corner” or something like that. IMO, Chelsie would fit that description quite nicely.
Now, Maks and Peta? I don’t think that’s true. As far as I know Peta and Damien have been very serious for a very long time, before either or them were connected to DWTS. They’re probably just close friends. They do seem to dance together a lot in the pro dances, but then again, they are the right height for each other and they do make a stunning visual.
I mostly liked how they had the pros matched up last night. Maks/Peta, Val/Chelsie, Derek/Karina, Mark/Anna were great pairs. I would have switched the last two, and put Kym with Tristan and Cheryl with Tony. I like when they dance together. Sadly, I’ll probably never get to watch my favorite pro pairing again–Tony and Julianne. I loved watching them dance together.
@Ms. Taz – Glad you liked it. The dancers were the characters in the book. Squidward, (can’t remember what he did), Patrick, doing more like freestyle dancing, Sandy, (not me, doing the Texas Two-Step, and Larry the Lobster doing the Cha-Cha. And Patrick won the trophy! It was really a cute book. How fitting especially now that the show is airing.
@Violet:
Mornin Hun! Yeah, @Heidi told me the reason why TPTB put Roshon in that position and I knew she was right. I was more concerned about the two of them second guessing themselves from here on out.
I don’t like to ship either, that was why I said I didn’t want to start anything. I was just curious if I was the only one who had noticed it. You are right w/Peta btw. I think that was just a case of two good friends acknowledging a great job on the dance.
We see all the Pros do it and often times the Pros will kiss the forehead of their celeb for the same reason. I find it really sweet actually. It is a physical reflection of the bond/relationship they are building between themselves over the course of the process.
@Sandy:
What? You don’t do the Texas Two Step? Well we can fix that!
We need a Pro over here – STAT! 😛
Then again……. 😯
@Mz Taz…..I’m countin’ on y’all to keep me in the loop. 🙂
@Sandy…..I’m seeing a Sponge Bob theme night! And the judges have to wear costumes. 🙂
LOL, The show will never be the same for me…
@Auntie – The visual is hilarious. Not sure who will wear the squarepants…
@Ms. Taz – Sounds like a great idea, Send me one “Tristan” STAT!!
@Ms. Taz – I’m still waiting! 🙂
@Sandy: ……red tape issues! The gorgeous, hot, lucky charm is enroute! 😉
OOHhhhhhhhh @Sandy!
So Tristan’s peeps got in touch w/my peeps. Tristan sends his sincere apologies, but due to his current commitment w/Gladys he unfortunately will not be able to give you the lessons.
However, he and his team have provided you w/an instructor, who I am told is currently flying first class to your hm town.
Guillermo is extremely excited and grateful for the opportunity!
He has even been waxed from head to toe for the occasion!
Tristan has sent along a box of Lucky Charms cereal for you to munch on and his best wishes. He says you should be able to master the dance by the “turd” lesson!
See, I told ya it was a piece of cake! 😛
@Princess Heidi (#53) I don’t get why everyone thinks William is so hot either. The Latin Brad Pitt? Maybe if Brad Pitt had thinning hair, buck teeth, and a teeny tiny peanut head… He seems like a great guy, but geez I’m tired of everyone saying how hot he is.
I haven’t watched all seasons of DWTS (trying to on GSN, but they’re making it hard), but I think that was some of the most whack judging on Monday I’ve seen. I know very little about proper dance technique but I could tell William’s butt was sticking out and his posture wasn’t so good. Totally didn’t deserve two 9s. And my cousin in elementary school could even tell that Sherri messed up her routine, but I guess you just have to flail around, shake your booty and smile real big to get decent scores this year. I thought the Urban definition of “flail” was funny: “To dance with crazy arm motions which is entertaining for both the viewer and performer!” I think they should also add “entertaining for DWTS judges” to that definition.
@Ms. Taz – You are too funny!! Guillermo it is then, I hate to waste a good waxing… 🙂
@Ashley J – I don’t get it either. There is not one thing appealing about William. The sooner he is off the show the better.
Hopefully, as many people that are drooling all over him, there are twice as many that are not.
The pro dance was great! Its exciting watching them perform with each other full out. As usual my eyes are drawn to the best performer in the bunch and its always the same person: Derek. He is in a class all by himself, IMO. Its like everyone else’s dancing is just a backdrop for his even in a group number. His talent just shines so brightly. On a different topic: I’m so glad others are mentioning their “dis-infatuation” with William. I think he’s neither handsome nor a good dancer. He’s boring. Too bad Martina got the boot; I found it sad to witness the dancing demise of the Diva of Wimbledon.
@Sandy. The “SpongebobDWTS” book reminds me A LOT of a parody I saw on what I think was Disney called “Dancing with the Internet Stars”. It was really stupid but the Bruno guy was really spot on. He spoke in a way I couldn’t understand and rated the season with cupcakes, rainbows, and sprinkles and other good stuff instead of giving a 10. But the Len guy was really spot in with his 2, it would’ve been tge worst season ever.
