DWTS 14 Week 3 Power Rankings

Well thanks to the majority of tonight’s performances, I now have red, puffy eyes and a runny nose – and no, the show did not give me a rhinovirus 🙂 Even though I tell myself I’m not going to, I still get verklempt each season when personal story week rolls around, and end up a big, blubbering blob of hormones that is willing to overlook some pretty glaring technique errors and overall mediocrity & lack of content 😛

Tonight, however, I refuse to overlook to continual over/underscoring and favoritism by the judges, and what I felt to be a rather contrived display of emotion on one individual’s part.  Shall we get to it? 🙂

1.) Katherine & Mark – I always find myself without a whole lot of notes on these two.  What more can I say, other than that she’s beautiful, a great dancer, and an overall likeable person? 🙂 Thought Katherine danced a lovely waltz, and it’s becoming clear to me that the ballroom dances are really going to be her forte, and perhaps the rumba as well – any dance where she can really show off that posture and those gorgeous arms.  Was there a lot of actual waltz steps in this one? Well, no, but on the whole, I don’t think anyone had a TON of real content and syllabus steps in their routines tonight…so I guess I really can’t fault anyone too much for that.  With the points spread being relatively close tonight, I can’t say for sure that ANYONE is truly safe…but I think Katherine is probably safe this week.  I think she is growing her fanbase, and seems to have kept Mark relatively calm this season.  I enjoy watching these two dance 🙂

2.) Donald & Peta – I don’t think they had the best routine of the night (or even the best rumba), but man – Donald is endearing himself to pretty much EVERYONE, myself included 🙂 I don’t think I’ve heard a single unkind word about the guy from any of the regulars here, and the fact that he has managed to go from dancing 3rd, to dancing 10th, to getting the pimp spot in 3 weeks tells me that he is proving to be a force to be reckoned with – he’s probably pulling in quite a few votes.  And I do see him improving each week – I love that he devotes himself 100% to his performance each week, and is a joy to watch, but the guy is legitimately improving as well…his arms, legs, hips, and posture have all gotten noticeably better with each week.  And I think if last season was any indicator, we shouldn’t underestimate the ones that slowly & steadily improve each week, as they’re the ones that could sneak into the finale out of nowhere…I think I’ve finally decided that he is indeed our dark horse this season 🙂 Watch out, Katherine, William, Jaleel, & Maria!

3.) William & Cheryl – Grrrr….I can’t believe we’re in week 3 and the over-the-top tongue bathing is still going! This was an ok-to-moderate salsa – I wouldn’t say it was stellar and I wouldn’t say it was bad, either.  But a 28??? C’mon, one point less than the top scorer, who did one of the best waltzes I’ve seen on the show to date???! I don’t get it…I just don’t get it.  William doesn’t miss steps, and he stays on time; but I also feel like he never truly gets into the dance, and always dances so apprehensively, like he’s afraid he might hurt himself.  Cheryl needs to take time out from her busy schedule of designing atrocious costumes from herself and actually bring him out of his shell a bit more, and work on his range of motion.  Luckily for them (and not so luckily for us), I don’t think they’re going anywhere anytime soon, with all the judges blindly worshipping his every step.  Ai ai ai. Producers Had To Ban Jaleel White From The Dancing With The Stars Rehearsal Studios

US Magazine (a pretty reputable source), is reporting Jaleel White had a bad rehearsal on Friday with Kym which lead to a heated confrontation with Mark Ballas. Show producers had to step in and banished him from the rehearsal studio. You can read more below and at the link.

The Family Matters alum, 35, “flipped out,” the insider says, after he accidentally stepped on Johnson’s foot. When Johnson, 35, exclaimed “ouch” over his blunder, the insider says, White “got in her face,” and chastised her for “acting like a baby . . . He was shouting at her, calling her an ‘idiot.'”

As Johnson momentarily left the studio in tears, fellow celeb competitor Donald Driver overheard the commotion and “tried to calm him down,” the insider says. Unmoved, White “started going off on the producers and shouting about how they put him with a ‘stupid’ partner.”

Pro dancer Mark Ballas then tried to confront White himself. As their argument escalated, White spewed: “‘You remind me of that annoying sitcom neighbor who gets into everyone’s business!'”

“The producers stepped in and broke it up before it got physical, but they were really going at it — right up in each other’s faces!” the source explains.

Producers then banished White from the studio for the rest of the day. “Now he says he refuses to go back to the rehearsal studio again, that he wants his own rehearsal space elsewhere,” the source continues. “It was a huge fiasco that went down. A total mess.”

A second show insider adds that Johnson “has never had a conflict with one of her dance partners before.”

Wow, if true, this does not look good for him and I hope he doesn’t make it any further. I feel especially sorry for Kym. As you might have read recently, Jaleel has also been having some troubles with his ex girlfriend as well who accused him of being abusive.

Heidi: Well. Hmmm. US Magazine isn’t as reliable as you might think, but they are better than, say, The National Enquirer and a few other rags out there.  The thing that gives me pause is that they could possibly be sued over this story if it’s completely fabricated. So, I dunno.  I guess I would read it and believe it with some salty products involved…a few grains, if you get my drift.  Seems like a scan of the paparazzi video might be in order, to see if he is pissed off on Friday.   IF….huge IF….this is even remotely true, I’m not sure that banishing him from the rehearsal studio is the best bet. I would want more than just a field producer and camera person around if he goes off again. Kudos to Mark and Donald for stepping in – I’m not at all surprised by that.  But where was very large security man that you always see in the pap videos??  Part of me is very skeptical, the other part of me remembers who bothered I’ve been by how intense he seems.

Gavin DeGraw’s Swagger Moves Inside Week 3 Rehearsals for Dancing With The Stars

Karina Smirnoff tells MTV that she thinks Gavin DeGraw has a natural “swagger” that will come through in his Rumba tonight. See if you don’t agree with the moves we’re shown in this Dancing With The Stars rehearsal below?

Get More: Music News

Hmmm…maybe!! Tonight needs to happen and soon?!! 😯

ADDING: You can read a new blog by Karina and see a new video (this is a rare treat of her talking in her car). Be sure to watch it) at People.com as well. Below is a take from her blog…

This week is very important, it’s our turn to share a personal story. We are doing the rumba – the dance of love – so we are working on being very romantic and sexy, but we also want to show the sentimental value of the personal story that Gavin is going to bring to this week’s show.

The only thing that concerns me is that the rumba is a sexy dance and Gavin is not extremely comfortable being too sexy with me. It will be fun to see if he can pull it off, and I’m excited. I feel like we are further with the rumba than we were with the previous dances at this point in the week. I think that is because we are rehearsing in L.A. now.

Up until last week, we were constantly traveling for Gavin’s tour. We would be driving in a car for seven hours before dance rehearsal and then he would do his show. We were as mentally exhausted as we were physically exhausted. Now he has no excuses; he has to have his butt ready for me to kick it every time he gets to the studio!

The View Goes Into DWTS Week 3 Rehearsals Of Sherri Shepherd And Val Chmerkovskiy

Today The View showed footage on their show of Sherri and Val in rehearsal for Dancing With The Stars week three. Sherri reviewed their first two dances. While giving an example of the Jive, she kicked herself (LOL!). Take a look at their Rumba moves planned for tonight too. Nice and she’s a hoot again too….

I can’t wait for tonight again, can you?

DWTS Season 14 Week 3 Predicted Scores

This is when things get kind of dicey when it comes to predicted scores. Keeping in mind that I am only taking scores from the first four weeks of any given season as a basis of calculations for predicted scoring, you start to find holes in the data. For example: Chelsie Hightower has been had a partner that she has had to work on the Samba with in the first four weeks of any season (whether it’s because they never last that long or luck of the draw).

GAVIN DEGRAW
Dance: Rumba
Average Scores:
– Age: 21.773
– Occupation: 23.000
– Professional Partner: 21.000
Predicted Score / Rank: 22 / 7th
Comments: On paper, this is the dance that could help Gavin break out from the lower pack. The other celebs who were singers and in their 30s did really well with the Rumba (Season 9’s Mya w/ Dmitry Chaplin got a 27 and Season 11’s Brandy w/ Maksim Chmerkovskiy got a 24) so Gavin has quite the shoes (or in the case the heels) to fill. To me, a 22 doesn’t seem all that low.

DONALD DRIVER
Dance: Rumba
Average Scores:
– Age: 21.773
– Occupation: 19.500
– Professional Partner: N/A
Predicted Score / Rank: 21 / 9th
Comments: Unfortunately, since Peta hasn’t been on the show long enough, there isn’t much data to work from. In the meantime what I’m curious about is how other NFL players in their 30s have coped with the Rumba in the past. Apparently, not that well: Season 10’s Chad Ochocinco w/ Cheryl Burke got a 22 while Season 11’s Kurt Warner w/ Anna Trebunskaya got a 17. So how is Donald going to fare with the Rumba? I think a 21 is rather middle of the road, it might be off by a point or two though.

My life can be summed up in the following two quotes: 1) "I am married to engineering and am its faithful wife by day, but at night my wanderlust takes hold and the arts becomes my jealous paramour." and... 2) "Engineering is my safety net. Writing is my passion. Acting is my escape when the other two become too much." So where does dancing fit in? Pretty much anywhere at this point... =)

DWTS14 Wisconsin Phone Company Has Advise For Fans Of Peta Murgatoyd And Donald Driver (New Photo)

Isn’t that a fantastic shot of Peta and Donald? ESPN posted it today along with a fun article for how fans are flooding up the Wisconsin phone lines every Monday night for them. So much so, the Wisconsin phone company told Packer Nation and fans to the duo they need to vote at the beginning of the show and not wait until the end. More below and at the link including Donald’s thoughts on last week’s elimination and a little on their dance tonight. I just love these two!!

“I was shocked, but in a competition like this you have to expect the unexpected. Anyone can be sent home on any given week. That may sound stressful, but it’s really not,” Driver said. “All you can do is work hard and compete. The rest will take care of itself.”

“The new dances are coming along great,” Driver said. “Our scores from the judges improved from week one to week two, and we want to keep that trend going.”

So far, “Packers Nation” has been flooding the phone lines, especially in Driver’s home state of Wisconsin, In fact, Driver’s team received a call from a Wisconsin phone company telling fans to vote throughout the show instead of waiting for the end because they’ve jammed the lines.

Also, below is a tweet today from Donald for who his dance is dedicated to tonight….
