Pure DWTS Cookbook – SEND US YOUR RECIPES!
You, our readers, never cease to amaze me with the great ideas you come up with π After someone mentioned in another thread that some of the Strictly Come Dancing fans had a sort of food & drink recipe exchange, some of you suggested a “PureDWTS Cookbook” – so thus this weekly edition was born! We’re hoping to give you guys a new DWTS-themed recipe each weekend, so we can all enjoy some tasty snacks & refreshing drinkables together during the show on Monday night.Β And we need your help – send us your DWTS-themed recipes at courtney@puredwts.com and each week, me, Heidi, & Vogue will pick one or two to share.Β The sky is really the limit with this one, kids – recipes can be appetizers, desserts, main courses, breads, even cocktails! The only rule is that it somehow has to be DWTS-related – either to one of the pros, the celebs this season, the judges, the dances themselves, etc.Β Get creative! Here are some suggestions to get your kitchen mojo working…
*Dance-themed dishes – it’s your interpretation of the dances, with food & drink as the medium.Β What might a samba casserole look like? How ’bout a foxtrot pie? Or a tango party punch? π
*Dishes from the celebs’ & pros’Β hometowns – how ’bout some traditional Greek & Boston-themed recipes for Maria? Some good ol’ “soul food” recipes for our Empress of Soul, Gladys? Even some cheese-filled dishes for Donald the Packer!
*Recipes that correspond to the theme week – maybe some popcorn balls for movie theme week? Or a sinful chocolate dessert for “guilty pleasure” week? We don’t know all the theme weeks yet, but keep an eye out as they’re released, and send us some fun ideas π
So now that we’ve got your creative juices flowing, we want your ideas for Rock Week recipes! We’d like to get them posted Sunday, so that everyone has a chance to go to the grocery store to get the necessary ingredients for Monday night π So ready…set…COOK!
Great Idea! hehehee =]
I’m gonna send something =]
The closest I can do in regards to cooking is using the microwave and ordering out or going to a restaurant so I’m probably not going to have any ideas lol.
Vin, yes you can, you can share how you open the microwave door and the packet it could be interesting.
Also what is your favourite place to eat out or order from – every little bit helps!!
Well actually, I can amke pasta and pasta sauce (or as my family calls it gravy) (it kinda came with the therriroty w my family since we are old school Italian)
[…] up, PureDWTS is thinking of putting together a recipe book. Trashers and Trashettes, does this have our name all […]
Anything involving beer, bratwurst, or cheese works for Packers – all three at the same time is ideal! π LOL
Would tacos work for william?
Cheese soufflΓ© for Donald?
Aphrodisiac salad for Maria and Derek???? (Yes, I have a recipe with this name!) Not sure these two really need any though! π
@Dwtsfreak, Marlene, & Meggie – Yes, yes, and YES! All of the above are great ideas! π Send ’em my way!
I hear Heidi is working on a drink recipe for a very special type of Kool-Aid…;-)
How about “Bangers” and Mash for Rock Week? LOL I heard that there might be some head banging going on!!
How about Fettuccine Alfredo for Bruno? (its easy make the pasta and get a can of alfredo sauce from sotco of bjs or a local grocery store)
Love the “Bangers and Mash” idea. Not only for Rock Week, but it works for our Welsh dancer as well. I’m looking for my Cuban Pork Sandwich recipe…will send it if I find it. Lots of great Greek inspired foods, too. You gals are very ingenious for thinking of this!
I bought Grey Goose. Just sayin’.
Change it to Aphrodite Salad, Meggie, after what Bruno said. π
@Courtney
I’ve already sent it to you, so go ahead and change the name! π
Oops, just realized that Heidi sent the comment about the name change!! (but it’s in Courtney’s hands now!) π
Head banging….or other banging? Or both?
LOL, Heidi, you are bad! Have you already opened that Grey Goose??? And as you know, it’s Maria and Derek who talked about the head banging, so is it them your asking about??? π
Cuban pork?? :::snicker::: Seriously, you guys have to remember that this is me and Courtney you’re dealing with here – expect serious double entendre if you’re going to be giving us Cuban Pork. I could use a…nevermind. π
….. you could use another Grey Goose??? LOL
You could have the bangers with the cuban pork! π
Yes Meggie….but leave the head out of it. Sort of. Heh. I came home from work DIRTY. π
You’re in fine form! That must have been some tough day at work! π
It was only a half day and I stopped at the liquor store on the way home for Champagne and vodka. π
Ahhh, so you made yourself a “cocktail” ??? π
A visit to the liquor store might be in my future as well. My rock-themed recipe will be Maker’s Mark, ginger ale, and ice in a rocks glass.
@RJ
Very clever! Are you a Mark fan or does the Mark just fit the show (along with the rocks!)?
Not yet, Meggie, but I’m getting there. π Oddly enough, I don’t actually need to booze to have a dirty as hell mind. It does come out more when I’ve had a few.
@Meggie Oh no I’m not. I didn’t think of that… I better make that Jack Daniels and Diet Pepsi in honor of Jack this week. Wait! Didn’t Mark do that dance with a Diet Pepsi on his head? Make that Jack and Coke…
The only recipe I can think of right now is “Judge’s Granola”…. ’cause that’s nothing more that Fruits, Nuts, and Flakes… π
LOL, RJ!
Well had Urkel not revealed himself as Jerkel this week I probably would have concocted an adult beverage and named it Cool Juice in honor of Jaleel. However I might submit a recipe for Cry Baby Cookies (which is an actual type of cookie) in his honor instead.
Judge’s Granola and Cry Baby Cookies – love them both! I’m reading “fruits” in the Granola , as “nutty as a fruitcake” because I’m politically correct! π
Oh bother…. I’m having a bad day!!!! π Yes, Meggie – that was the way it was intended!!!!!
Oh, and RJ – Maybe a nice recipe for some good “Beef Jerkel”??? π
Heidi Alert!!! Beef Jerkel! LOL
Or Turkey Jerkel…
@Sally, “Beef Jerkel”! ROFL!!!!!!!!!!!!
@Princess H, How about some rum on the rocks π to go with the Cuban pork?
Turkey Jerkel!!! I LOVE IT!!! π
I think Cheryl might enjoy some Sweet Plantain Stuffing along with a Cuban Pork Tenderloin.
LOLLLLL The replies in this post! SO FUNNY!!
Vogue, something tells me that this was NOT what Courtney expected when she asked for recipes! π
LOL!!!!!!
Vogue, I LOVE YOU!!!! π
Love you too, Sally!!! xxxx π
Just to get us back on track…
The Karina Special:
A glass of Smirnoff Ice with some cranberry juice, to taste. A light, swet-n-sour taste, but with a hidden kick if you don’t watch out.
The Anna Splash:
An amount of GoldschlΓ€ger cinnamon liquor with a dash of grenadine syrup topped by a neutral spritzer (Schweppes, club soda, Sprite…). Spicy like our favourite redhead, yet mellow enough to catch you after a hard day.
@EL
Love these drinks! Perfect for each lady!
This is my current favorite “spirit” drink… you can either toss this in a shaker with ice, then strain into a martini glass, or drink over ice. You can adjust the amounts of each to suit your taste. I don’t normally measure, just pour.
1 shot gin or vodka, your choice (I use Hendrik’s Gin)
1/2 shot Roses Grenadine
1/2 shot Roses Sweetened Lime juice (found near the Grenadine in the store usually)
2 shots (or more if necessary) Cranberry juice. If you don’t want the drink so sweet, you can use unsweetened Cranberry juice, but it is good with 100% Cranberry Juice cocktail, too.
Shaken or stirred.
OK, I just sent Courtney my recipe for Chocolate Cream Pie….. hubby LURVES it! π But he wants me to name it the “Kym Johnson Chocolate Cream Pie”, ’cause it’s really, really sweet…. he’s a goober. π
I sent the Cuban Pork recipe. It can be used on sandwiches, on warm tortillas…lots of ways.
So what are cookin’ up for Monday night??? π
So, where is the recipe or recipes of the week or weekend? Thanks!
Sorry I was away this weekend. Court, if you want the soufflΓ© recipe, I need an email. No way can I do it in 140 characters!
Never mind. I see it in the post at the top. I’m just blind. Sending in a few minutes
The title of my recipe was DANCING ROCKS COOKIES! I used the Dancers names, celebrity and pro throughout the recipe. Well, I wonder why nothing or no one’s was posted yet.
Hey guys, I apologize for the delay – but I’m gonna wait and do the recipe post tomorrow. Just a lot of last-minute news and I don’t want to step on it with any more posts today π
Hi Courtney – Any recipes to share yet? Was looking forward to seeing the creativity used for the dancing theme. Thanks!
I saw the recipe for Cuban Pork for Latin week. Thanks. Anything for rock week? Thanks!
