DWTS Season 14, Week 4 – Who’s Dancing What…and when?
For the life of me, I can’t figure out how these dances get handed out. I guess it must have to do with the stupid “Rock Week” Theme. They assign songs and the dance style is determined by the song?? In any case, it leads to a big ole WTF in terms of dance styles on a given night.
I’ve taken a stab at guessing at the order – which is extremely difficult when you’ve got a Jive and a V. Waltz in with all the Tangos and Pasos. Again, the running order is going to be more a function of not having all five Tangos in a row. The question is – are the going to back load or front load the two odd dances. That is, save them toward the end or put them in the beginning…or one of each??
ETA: I was only off by one place for William and Cheryl…unfortunately in the wrong direction.
ETA 2: I feel the need to say, one more time – the running order is not automatically the kiss of death OR the mark of a great dancer. Particularly on theme weeks when there are a lot of similar dances. The posts Courtney has done in the past regarding the worst spot to dance are STATISTICS: they are not guarantees nor are they predictions. That’s one of the dangers of statistics – people have a tendency to misuse them. That said…William (aka God’s Gift to women everywhere :::snort:::) is being followed by….ROSHON. Bwahahahaha…okay, sorry. Just had to point that out to the William fans who have been making outrageous claims about him in the comments. Remember children, it’s just a dancing show…not the cure for cancer. 
ETA 3: Karina says they’re dancing last…Maria told someone via DM that she “thinks” they’re going last. Since Maria didn’t sound sure, I’m giving it to Karina and guessing maybe Maria is 9th. Hard to say. VERY interesting if Gavin is indeed going last. Very interesting indeed.
ETA 4: Some song spoilers for you If I had to guess, I’d say Melissa might have “Seven Nation Army” by the White Stripes. Good, strong paso beat. -Court-
ETA 5: Hey, my second guess at Sherri and original guess for Melissa appears to be right on track. I am starting to believe that Maria is 9th. It’s possible that Jaleel and Gladys could be reversed.

I think that tonight could be a test of what Donald and William are really made of, since both got styles that don’t seem like they would do well on, at least intuitively. I think it will be a test for Cheryl as well, to see how much actual Jive content she puts in the dance or if she finds a way to exploit the sexy (again). Roshon drew the V. Waltz card and he could find himself tested as well. As for everyone else…Gladys and Melissa will likely be challenged by the Tango since it requires a much sharper technique. Sherri needs to show passion in a different way than just having her mouth open in a grimace like she did for her rumba, since that was…odd looking. Gavin has a chance to dig himself out of the bottom two…although I don’t think there is anyone left to save him from the boot this time. Maria, Jaleel and Katherine?? I think they will be okay, especially Jaleel and Katherine…after all, Katherine has done a variation on Paso once before.
i have to start by saying i HATE this damn Rock week…i don’t know why they keep bringing it up…oh well..second..i hope that Maria and Derek are getting closer to that pimp spot…as i am getting tired of they going first or second.. 3. i am sure Donald will be ok..i can see him pulling off a good Paso. 4. i am fairly sure that IF Cheryl doesn’t find a way to exploit Will’s sexuality, CAI and Bruno will see through his short/pants and he will still get good scores..i am pretty sure William will have problems with the Jive as he is pretty messy in his dance…but then again…why worry when they already announced that it will be the judges decision who stays and who goes for the next 4 weeks …so William will be always safe with CAI and Bruno’s vajajay vote…so…just pray your favorite doesn’t have to face off William in the bottom two…Katherine will do great as her cold appearance is great for the Paso..Sherri won’t be so good..but then again…it didn’t matter until now..so why would that change…anyway…looking forward to the night of the Paso’s and Tango’s as they are Derek’s favorites dances…now..if it only have been with a normal ballroom music…
I agree William will struggle with the Jive, also he was quite flatfooted in the Salsa & the Jive needs even lighter on your toes movement so cannot see this being a good dance for him.
I think Katherine being all light & blond may struggle too with the dark fierce dance the Paso has to portray.
I hope Jaleel goes, Gavin is growing on me & so sweet!

The V. Waltz and Jive mixed with Tangos and Paso is interesting and confuses me. I thought the producers would have given William one of the passionate dances. I will not make predictions on who will soar and who will sink because I am always way-way off and sooo wrong. I’m can’t wait to see Menough Tango and Rochee V. Waltz.

@Elara, I’m no fan of Rock Week either (I want pasos and tangos to traditional music too), but I generally hate Personal Story Week and that turned out to be alright. Gives me hope that this group can pull off Rock Week too. Unfortunately, I think Len agrees with us and is going to be really grumpy
If Cheryl tries for a sexy Jive, I’m going to scream. I bet William would like to do something fun and lighthearted. Maybe he has quicker feet than we think; I’d like him to at least have a chance to show us.
Gavin and the Tango seem like polar opposites. That worries me. Hopefully his sweet personality is growing on the general viewer the way it is on a lot of us and he gets enough of the public behind him to hang in for another week.
Jaleel has underperformed since week 2, and I’d be glad to see that continue. Sad to say, he hasn’t turned out to be the person I thought he would be. It’s very disappointing. I’d be happy to see him go. He’s kind of become the rotten apple in an otherwise engaging barrel of celebs.
It’s make-or-break week for Melissa. She better ditch the prairie and really bring some fire and passion to her paso if she wants to stick around. Please don’t have her dancing right after Sherri, again. That’s really beginning to get on my last nerve.
Roshon could surprise us with his VWaltz if they get a good song. I’m rooting for him to do well with this odd dance/music combo.
Can’t wait to see Maria and Derek Tango. Hoping Maria will tap into her melodramatic Greek core and knock our socks off.
I am a bit confused, Are the dance-offs starting this week or next week? If we have already established this somewhere I do apoligize….
I’ve watched the results show twice, Sandy, and I’m still not sure of the answer to that one.
I think this will be the last week for a regular elimination. Starting week five until seven will be the dance duel. I was confused too and think that is right.
I wonder if they will give Katherine the pimp spot. She is good and has kinda did a paso already. She has never had the pimp spot and a good week to give her that spot. I would like to see her and William go in the first half though.
This will be an interesting week to see how fan votes are going. Especially if the scores are close again. I did not like rock week in season 11. Maybe the booked Kiss first so they brought back rock week.
I would love to see Roshon and Maria go in the second hour since they went early often. I am cautiously optimistic about Maria’s tango. Her injuries concern me but Derek’s has choreographed terrific tangos

@Alicia, I think that probably the only Pros currently on the show that can adequately be given an odd piece of music, and pull out choreography that makes one think that it’s genius, is Karina and Derek. Go to YouTube and check out what Karina did with Boom Boom Pow with Mike Sorrentino. No, he didn’t dance well at all, but her choreography was genius. And I think she’s second to Derek, because he’s done wonders season after season…. These two pros, I think, are the two who more than any of the others, that can take challenging music selections by the producers, and create magic.
So, I’m not worried about Bohemian Rhapsody for Karina and Gavin, nor whatever Rock Tango that Derek creates for Maria….
I’m sure both with find the choreography that makes magic…
Two out of three for four weeks seems often to me, lol. Yes it is early but have never gone early even four weeks in. But yes, I know in time they will all to early eventually. M

If I had to choose the order it would be easy:
1rst) Gavin and Karina – Tango (Song: Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen) – Just becuase I really want to know what the band does to the song.
2nd) Jaleel and Kym – Tango – just to get him out of the way
3rd) William and Cheryl – Jive – Just to see how he would do if they put him super early in the show.
4th) Katherine and Mark – Paso Doble – Not gonna like I wanna see this one badly
5th) Maria and Derek – Tango – She was the only person I didn’t palce yet lol
6th) Donald and Peta – Paso Doble – Have a good feeling about this one. I think he is going to see at least one ten
7th) Sherri and Val – Tango – she always is having fun but this might be some tango if she can channel her energy
8th) Roshon and Chelsie – V. Waltz (i got a good feeling about this one)
9th) Melissa and Maks – Paso Doble (another one i gota good feeling about)
10th) Gladys and Tristan – Tango – Gladys + tango should equal high score just based on perfromance but I think she is going to do really well just based off of week one and her footplacement in that dance and tango is all about emotion and foot placement so she should do awesome
As for Donald, if he can channel that NFL football player aggression into the Paso, I think he’ll surprise everyone… I have to admit, I agree that William might have a problem with the Jive – all that fast footwork, and a teeny little head, furiously shuffling next to a very large, and colorful, loofah…. makes for a fun visual!

I have a really strong feeling that Maria will rock the tango tomorrow! If she keeps her posture like it was in the quickstep, her connection with Derek, and bring out the wrestler side of her and rock it out. I’m pretty sure she will nail it!
William has great foot placement in any of the guys.He is pretty light on his feet. Only reason he was a little flat in the salsa was because they did a Cuban salsa style of dancing! Guys do heel lead in Cuban salsa and often flat footed. Cuban salsa don’t focus on foot technique, but body rhythm.
Maria and Derek will do great with a rock Tango – just remember last year’s Psycho Tango! Len said it was the most memorable dance of all the seasons of DWTS! Derek can create a great dance to any type of music. Also, there was the Futuristic Paso with Joanna Krupa. No worries for Team Menough!
Since Cheryl has been using Peeps blue in her outfits the last two weeks do you think she’ll keep the trend going and have William use Carson’s jive outfit for his jive? That way he can also dress like a Peep and keep the sexy going all at the same time.
Should be an interesting week. Like some others expressed I would love for Jaleel to get the boot. He will benefit greatly by this BS rule change because the judges will keep him over a Gladys, Gavin, Sherri, Melissa, and maybe even some others like Roshon. I suspect he has been hurt by his behavior and the press he received that he would have gone in the next 1-3 weeks. Now he can be saved if he makes it past this week for the next 3 weeks.
It really comes down to the dances every week to see who is going. Gavin helped himself tremendously last week and bough himself another week. He is on the clock again and really needs to bring it. I also think Melissa, Gladys, and Sherri are in competition with each other as most vulnerable female. How they dance in comparison with the other will determine if their boot order.
Like rock week! really enjoyed season 11, cause Brandy took the 10 points and was leader for 2nd week in a roll. Hoping Jaleel, Glady, Sherri and Gavin have some outstanding dances so they will be around for a while. katerine and Mark since they are my least favorite couple imo, maybe they will get a surprise boot!
Whenever William is on, there’s a spike in the ratings, that’s why he goes close to the end, so don’t be hatin’ on him. His ability to grab ratings is one of the reasons why the show happens. He still has to get the votes. but certainly it’s going to be a test for him.
It’s a test for anyone who is a beginner to dancing. That’s how I can tell who is a real beginner and who’s a poseur. Anyone who is used to twizzles and ball change steps in a fast sequence can pick it up faster….meaning anyone who has had Broadway training, and time steps to jive music will have an easier time of learning this dance, especially those who tap dance, like Mya who was incredible at it.
One thing Cheryl does, is fairly decent Jives. She was able to take Rob Kardashian into something of a contender with his Jive.
No question William has been frustrated learning this dance and put in long hours, but it hopefully he’ll get there by show time.
RJ, William in Carson’s jive costume would be scary. I’m sure, as much as Cheryl would love to put him in short shorts, and as much as she loves that color, it won’t happen. And they would have to take off the A and the C, unless they just took off the A and put on a W, which would be even scarier. And I can’t really think of a rock song that goes with cheerleading. And Carson is really the only person that could pull it off.
You must really wanna be on our “hold for moderation” list, Marilyn, because telling people “don’t be hatin’!” is not only immature, but exactly the kind of thing that makes one unpopular around here – if you can’t resist telling everyone what to do when you’re commenting, then don’t comment. And I’m sorry, should we suddenly be thanking William for keeping the show afloat with his very presence? PUH-LEASE…thinking that one person (without much of a fan base in the US prior to doing the show) is the reason that “the show goes on” is narrow-minded and illogical. Hehe…and this supposed “ratings spike” when William’s dancing? Do you have some magic line graphs from your own personal Nielsen system to prove it?
Courtney, I said he’s one of the reasons why the show is on, he’s of course not the only reason, but yes, if someone is consistently going late on the show that is a strong indicator that they are getting the ratings to match. Kate Gosselin always went late, when she left there was a drop off in the ratings. On the other end of the spectrum, JR Martinez danced late 8 times during last year’s competition. I guess it’s up to the fans to consider William a curiosity like Kate, or a significant contender like JR.

Also the band better not ruin this iconic song, but I fear they will, songs by Freddie Mercury need to be handled very carefully, virtually no one but Freddie should sing them!
:::rolls eyes::: You have no idea, Marilyn if there has been any such spike in the ratings for William, that is conjecture. There is a difference between buzz and actual ratings. In fact, he’s not going that late in the show this week AND I haven’t seen all that much buzz about him recently either.
As for your contention that there is no different between Derek and Maria and Cheryl and William – look again. Derek and Maria are actually focusing on the dance. The move they did on the floor was appropriate to the dance and was a ONE TIME thing. Neither Derek nor Maria is emphasizing any showmance – that is all in your head. Now, Cheryl can NOT say the same thing. She’s been talking non-stop about bringing the sexy – even in the jive. She’s been making it about that and less about the dancing.
Maria was embarrassed to be dancing a very sexy dance in front of her parents, but nice story boarding there Marilyn. William, on the other hand, appears to be embarrassed by what Cheryl says and does every single week. It’s been commented on by numerous people here and everywhere.
If you don’t like that others aren’t blindly worshiping William the way you are, then you best leave this site, because you’re convincing no one.
Then you need to word your posts more carefully, Marilyn. “Whenever William is on, there’s a spike in ratings” is a claim you should only be making if you’ve got an ironclad source to quote…and you don’t. Your own assertions & speculations don’t count. Ditto for Kate Gosselin supposedly boosting ratings – no proof of that one either. And I still say William “being one of the reasons the show is still on” is complete bull – I don’t for one minute believe that a relative unknown here in the States is even a minor factor in keeping this show on the air, and in fact, the very favoritism he is being showed could actually contribute to the show’s downfall. The viewing audience’s tolerance for manipulation is likely not getting any better with each passing season.
In fact, you’re starting to turn some of them off William completely.

Yup, Some of these die-hard preaching fans do more harm than good for their chosen one. And actually their chosen one just might be embarrassed by their behavior. Just my opinion though.
At some point the judges will start judging the quality of the dancing for William and stop protecting him (I hope) and then the shit will really hit the fan. I expect to be banning people left and right.

It’s so funny, we keep talking about how these dances may be difficult for the dancers – the way the judges are ‘scoring’ they will only really judge and critique Jaleel, Melissa, Maria, Gavin and Gladys on the steps they dance. Katherine and Roshon will just be told they were fabulous and the rest will be given extra points for ‘entertainment’ and be 3-5 points ahead of where they should be.
Still not lovin’ the idea of the dance off. I think if they want to do it they should have it be like redemption island on Survivor – the eliminated contestants dance off to stay alive and come back for the semi finals…

The “judges favor Derek” talk again……………Maria was doing a lot of poses only in week 1, in my opinion. She has improved tremendously. Rumba is a slow dance and I think by default it has poses.

Katherine is the best dancer on the show. As the William fans and others keep forgetting, running order isn’t everything. I wouldn’t get too worked up about it.
Don’t respond to disgruntled William fans, wiwin – they have wild imaginations when they get upset cuz we aren’t kissing Williams ass. Maybe if HE starts actually doing a decent ballroom dance, we will.

Re: Katherine’s TV Guide interview; a small correction, UK’s Strictly stopped doing the dance off a couple of years ago. I think they had it Season’s 1 to 7, but not 8 and 9 (to give the viewers more say apparently…)
She was tweeting last night in a way that sounded nervous and unsure, Meggie…that’s all I know.
I THINK they do know how well they’re doing over the week – I think that’s part of the field producers job – but I also think they start to form the order during camera blocking. It has changed during dress rehearsal before, which is probably why Maria is not tweeting it publicly that they’re going last. It can still change.
Thanks, Heidi! Hope her nerves work in her favour this week, so she brings something a little extra special (besides Derek!) to overcome them.

Since Judges will decide who stays and who goes, I would think running order is not important anymore.
It is important, however, for rating. Maybe we’ll see a running order shake up?!
I believe Paso will be Katherine’s weakest dance. We’ll see.

I think running order will still have some degree of importance for now, as the public are still voting to keep their favourites out of the real bottom 2.
Exactly, Elsee – even though the judges may be picking who goes home, they’re still going to be picking from the 2 couples that we the viewers put in the bottom 2. So if Katherine & Mark get lost in the shuffle dancing 2nd (and I doubt they will, this is just an example) and don’t get the votes, they still could run the chance of getting sent home.
I think we need to strike a balance here regarding running order: it’s not the be-all-end-all and it’s not totally irrelevant. I feel like I’m repeating myself for the millionth time, but here we go again: a bad running order position is not likely to hurt a couple that is popular and getting the votes they need. It could, however, be detrimental to a couple that is not getting the votes they need – it’s not likely to give them much of a boost, while dancing later could help them pick up a few extra votes. But going later in the show does not guarantee a couple safety from elimination, either. And as the season wears on and viewers figure out who their favorites are, running order is going to become less important. If anything, I think this whole bottom 2 dance duel could have more far-reaching & indirect effects on who goes home from here on out – what about the couple who wins the dance off and sticks around another week? Will being in the bottom 2 give them a boost the following week? Based on what we’ve seen from Gavin so far, I would guess yes.
Katherine and mark are going 2nd. Have a feeling this is because of mark’s crazy choreography. Herd he said in the afterbuzz interview he will be putting a mma cage on the dancing floor and a muse song. It gonna be crazy. I can all ready say Len ain’t gonna like it. They are dropping down from the top spot on the leader board.
I’m not surprised Derek and Maria are dancing last. With all the buzz that Derek’s “Psycho” tango received last season, the producers know that a lot of DWTS fans will be anticipating this dance the most tonight.
I am, however, surprised that Katherine and Mark are dancing second. In my opinion, Mark consistently choreographs the most powerful and theatrical paso dobles (see, e.g., Kristi, Shawn, and Sabrina). Was Katherine possibly not up to the task?
I am glad that Roshon and Chelsie are finally going to get to dance in the second hour. From their interviews this week, they sound really upbeat about the dance. However, Roshon did comment in one interview that the dance was “slow.” I wonder if having to slow down his dance movements will cause Roshon some problems. He definitely does not have problems with moving quickly, as evidenced by his first three dances
# IrisandLilies we all know Katherine is the best dancer in the show this season..she will have absolutely no problems with the Paso.. as for them going 2..well…it’s their turn too… i hope that Maria pulls off a good Tango tonight…we really need to keep them out of that bottom two…

Oh, Lawdy…. Gavin going last. Please don’t get me wrong, I hope he knocks it out of the park – like a few others, Gavin is growing on me. I think he & Karina are developing a really good chemistry. But he *has* been in the bottom 2 both weeks, and Bohemian Rhapsody is a song the band could totally murder…. :-/ Looks like one of those “it could be great, it could be a train-wreck” closers…

This is going to be one interesting night of television. 
I actually think his song could be the reason he’s going last – “Bohemian Rhapsody” is kind of a show-stopper. Or maybe Maria was set to go last before camera blocking was finished, but something changed at the last minute to bump her and put Gavin last…who knows. Or maybe it’s the other way around and Karina is confused. I’m with Heidi, though – if Karina’s tweeting it publicly and stating it as fact, I’m gonna believe her over Maria tweeting someone privately and saying she “thinks” they’re going last. But keep an eye on Twitter, everyone – things can change during the course of the day.

I am thinking Donald may open the second half of the show. For me, the first half of the show is weak, and then closing the show with Gavin, who in my opinion is borderline boring is risky.

I’m so glad that Roshon is dancing in the second half! He is second best next to Katherine, and he and Chelsie are so fun to watch for me. Maria and Derek too, hopefully Maria will be able to get rid of all the nerves!
Plenty of people go 2nd and do very well. When Sabrina did her Paso in Week 4, they went 2nd and scored a 30. I haven’t lost hope that Katherine will be good, but it’s discouraging to not see you’re favorite go later in the show
Having said that, it’s week 4 and they’ve yet to give the pimp spot to a female celeb. Jaleel, William, and Donald so far.

I don’t understand where people got this idea that the running order influences your score – the ONLY time we’ve noticed that or commented on that is on the FIRST night of dancing. After that it’s just guesswork. That wasn’t what Courtney’s post was about at all, as far as I remember.
Indeed, that’s not what my post was about – I don’t believe I even mentioned scores anywhere in my post. Running order is more likely to influence VOTES than scores. Several of the eliminations that occured in the “spots of doom” were from couples that got decent-to-high scores, but just couldn’t scrape together the votes to stick around. I guess I should spell it out: I DON’T THINK KATHERINE & MARK ARE IN GRAVE DANGER JUST BECAUSE THEY’RE DANCING 2ND. So everyone can just calm down for now, and stop fretting about scores and running order and whatnot. Really, the only thing I think is significant about this week’s running order so far is that Gavin is going last – he’s either got a show-stopping tango or he’s suddenly getting a ton of votes. I’m leaning towards the first option, as people who get “tons of votes” usually don’t end up in the bottom 2…two weeks in a row.
I’m not so much worried about Katherine’s scores dancing 2nd. I mean I’m always worried she’ll have an off dance and dancers in Katherine’s case (best dancer/most points from judges) get judged more harshly for having an off dance and I don’t want her having an off dance AND getting a crapping spot in the lineup.
Most of my frustration comes because she has danced 6, 6, and 2 the last 3 weeks and others like William have danced 12, 10, 7 in the last 3 weeks. TPTB did the same stuff with JR last season and I don’t remember them putting JR first in the lineup ever.

@Matt Agree about William, disagree about Katherine. Dancing 10, 6 & 6 aren’t bad at all. Going at the top of the second hour is still better than dancing in the first half, as far as viewers/ratings are concerned. It might even be better she go early tonight so she can get over a possible off night (previous dance experience be damned!). Regardless, I highly doubt Katherine is in any danger of going home at this point of the competition.
On the other hand, I’m nervous about Maria. If Gavin is going last as Karina tweeted than the only available spot in the 2nd hour is 9th. That means the show could end with back to back tangos or Maria will get stuck in the first hour AGAIN. Uh-oh! Coupled with some of her tweets last night I’m not feeling too confident about her tango. Really, really hope I’m wrong.
Considering that Derek was carrying Maria in the most recent pictures of them, you’re probably right to be concerned. But for her well being and confidence in the dance, NOT because her Tango will be compared to Gavin’s. Not really worried about that at all – they an both be good. But yes, she was sounding a bit insecure last night. Derek will either whip her into shape or not. Not much you can do about it.
I think those photos of Derek carrying Maria were from April 1st or 4th, at least that’s the date I saw on the heading.
I think they’ll be fine. She probably has an ambitious routine and is worried about delivering it to the level she thinks she should or is expected. Anyhoo, I think their going to rock that Tango! Go Team Menough..

Heh. Katherine tweeted a vid of Derek and William doing sitting pushups in the make up trailer. Derek has a mohawk with black tips. She then deleted the tweet. Hmmm…maybe she’s worried that her comments will fuel the Derek/Katherine rumors in the UK??
An interesting note is that there have only been 2 seasons out of 13 where the person who ended out winning didn’t have the pimp spot until after week 4. Jennifer Grey first had it week 5 and Drew Lachey didn’t have it till Week 6. All the other champions had the pimp spot at least once within the first 4 weeks of the season.
So unless this season becomes the 3rd in that group, this year’s champion will be either Jaleel, William, Donald, or Gavin a.k.a the 3rd male celeb in a row to win.
I think, Matt, that while that’s interesting, it’s not likely to be predictive in a season that has many well known people and/or good dancers. Rarely, if ever, have we seen a season like this one.

Also, about Maria’s ribs: If she wrestled one night, and then danced the next, I think she’ll be fine. Ricki and Jennifer both had injuries and you couldn’t even tell. I think Maria will be fine. =)

Curious to see what rock ballad or contemporary rock will be used with the V. Waltz? Kinda hoping for a more modern song like Lifehouse’s You and Me which was used for a V. Waltz on SYTYCD.
My predictions for tonight:
Sherri (Tango) – Can see her getting the style but not the substance of the dance.
Katherine (Paso) – She’s already shown some nice Flamenco stylings in the ringer clipbit and another side of herself in the Jive and I’m expecting her to do so again tonight.
Melissa (Paso) – Thinking this may be one of her better dances given 1) the hot BF bump and 2) the Paso seems to have a character she can more-so immerse herself in.
Donald (Paso) – Can see him delivering a Paso similar to Hines.’
William (Jive) – As a general rule, Jives and tall, bulky guys do not mix. While I can see him doing an okay job, doubt it’ll be one of his best dances.
Roshon (V Waltz) – Hiphop artist + Viennese Waltz + Rock song + Judge Len = Gonna be a fun week! I can see this either really flying or flopping, no middle ground.
Gavin (Tango) – The dance and the person just seem so contraindicated. But maybe last week’s encouragement wet his feet and appetite for competition. We’ll see.
Jaleel (Tango) – Not following the hoopla surrounding him, but it would seem the drama of this dance I apropos. This guy is hellbent to prove himself and suspect it will materialize through powerful performance.
Maria (Tango) – She’s got the acting, Ballroom and competitive prowess to make this a standout….but she’ll need to achieve tighter hold than in Quickstep to make it so.
Gladys (Tango) – Sorry to say, nothing I’ve seen of her posture/frame, footwork or speed leaves me hopeful about this one. She’ll get the character of this one though.
Saw on youtube a very-very-very small snippet of Roshon and Chelsie V.waltz. The video was a behind the scenes look of the studio and so on. It’s for some magazine I have not heard of before.
Kiss is going first, if I’m reading the tea leaves correctly. And I bet that it won’t be “live” – I bet they taped before the live show. But I don’t know that for sure.

This whole “age means nothing” schtick is getting old (no pun intended) – and whether you chose to acknowledge it or not, it will eventually come down to Gladys vs. the youngin’s…and that’s when physical limitations will come into play. NO ONE can move at 67 the same way they moved at 20 (except maybe Jack Lalane). I like Gladys – but I’m not afraid to critique her. Don’t like it? GO ELSEWHERE.

But, I did see the comment about guessing that KISS was recorded, and did see Chelsie’s tweet photo…. It was definitely recorded, they used the rear stage, which they don’t put up normally for performance shows, to allow for more seating. I saw the judges table at bottom right of photo.
Yeah I knew I hated rock week & still do, so far the show is not that good at all, the rock songs to these dances just does not mix well.

Wow. What is up with Maria’s bones? If I were her I’d be worried about a lack of calcium or something that’s causing this fragility to the bones. I know dancing is rough but she’s broken WAY too many bones. I’m worried for her that she’s really damaging herself by continuing. What pressure she must be feeling. Now Melissa’s hurt as well. Maks did fall on his a** and Cheryl ALMOST fell her on her a**. Is the floor slick this year?
Donald was terrific and Roshon was great fun to look at. I thought Jaleel was fun to watch too (but his was also my favorite song) Smooth. I liked Kym’s choreo. Nice accents. Derek’s choreo was wonderful as always.
