ABC Releases DWTS Press Release For Next Week’s Entertainment, Dances, and More!

ABC MediaNet has released an official press statement for the entertainment for next week’s Dancing With The Stars. “Motown Legends” Smokey Robinson, The Temptations, and Martha Reeves will all be performing Monday night as well as Australia’s hot pop group, “Human Nature”. Heads up “Boyz II Men” fans! They will be performing on the Results show Tuesday Night. Below are more details including info on the couples dances and the following week’s “Classical” theme. Note how Dancing With The Stars pros Dmitry, Val, Louis, and Anna will all be returning to dance again. It’s going to be a fun week! Lots on tap! ADDING Important Note: Also (as @ElmariL was just reminding me at twitter), don’t forget and be forewarned there is a possible “Surprise” Double Elimination as our Miss Heidi reported in a previous post.

“Episode 1406 & 1406A” – This week’s episode of “Dancing with the Stars” presents a Motown special with live performances from Motown legends Smokey Robinson, The Temptations and Martha Reeves throughout the evening. The legends kick off the show, performing an unforgettable live Motown medley accompanied by the Troupe. For the first time ever, each artist will perform with the talented “DWTS” band and musical director Harold Wheeler before each of the remaining eight couples begin their competitive dance. During a special performance with dancers Anna Trebunskaya and Val Chmerkovskiy, Smokey Robinson will perform his No.1 hit song, “Tears of a Clown.” Also joining in on the excitement is vocal group Human Nature, performing some of Motown’s most popular hits throughout the evening. And to finish the show we will feature a special Motown Dance Marathon, where the couples will be showing off their classic dance moves from the Motown era, MONDAY, APRIL 23 (8:00-10:01 p.m., ET) on ABC.

During Tuesday’s show, Best-selling R&B group of all-time Boyz II Men returns to the ballroom with an incredible performance of their latest single, “One More Dance,” off their landmark 20th anniversary album,” Twenty.” Their performance will be accompanied by Dmitry Chaplin and Anna Trebunskaya. The show will open with an amazing number from the Troupe, Val Chmerkovskiy, Peta Murgatroyd, Louis Van Amstel and Snejana Petrova, featuring a medley of Motown hit songs. This week’s “AT&T’s Spotlight Performance” spotlights the beautiful story of Michaela DePrince. And this week’s “Macy’s Stars of Dance” performance is the long awaited television debut of the hottest new contemporary dance company in America, Shaping Sound. The dance performance is choreographed by and features Travis Wall, Nick Lazzarini and Teddy Forance. The performance is a special preview of the following week’s Classical theme with an arrangement recorded by Aston, a classical group from Sydney, Australia, that create symphonic masterpieces out of pop music. The Dance Duel continues, and this week the bottom two couples will dance the Jive to the same song at the same time as the judges decide who the next eliminated couple will be, TUESDAY, APRIL 24 (9:00-10:01 p.m., ET) on ABC.

DWTS Behind the Scenes on 20/20

This is pretty hilarious – can’t wait to see the whole thing on Monday night. I looked and didn’t see where Vogue had posted this – think it just came out an hour ago if the tags are right. 🙂

I'm a nerd and proud of it. Two degrees in geology also means I love BEER. :-) I'm also a Derek lover - proud of that too. So don't scream at those of us on this site and call us a bunch of "biased Derek-lovers" - it's just ME. :-) It may sound like I hate DWTS at times, but really, I'm just a snarky nitpicker from way back. And I'm cynical and jaded too. But I do love DWTS. :-)

NEW MIDWAY POLL: Vote For Your Top Four Favorite Couples Currently On Dancing With The Stars

Directions: All you have to do is vote FOUR times in the Poll below for your current FOUR favorites. To have even more fun with this, be sure to let us know who you picked in the comments section. 😉 Special Note: Remember as you read and watch the results of the Poll that they aren’t always a correct reflection of how fans feel since a few fans like to try and manipulate the results 🙄 as our Miss Heidi has warned us of in the past, but, we’ve done our best technically to stop that from happening. Anyway, have fun and VOTE VOTE VOTE!!

DWTS Donald Driver Dishes On The Differences Between Training For Football And Dancing & More

The LA Times interviewed Donald Driver Tuesday. He talks of the spins he does with Peta and what the differences in training for dancing versus football. Great interview! Be sure to read more at the link.

Q: Those were some amazing spins you did with Peta. What’s the secret for not getting dizzy after spinning so fast and furious?
Have kids! They’re always playing and asking me to spin them around. I’m used to all those spins at this point.

Q: Which training is more intense, training for football or training for dancing?
When you’re dancing, you have to think about and remember where every single part of your body should be at every moment. You have to move everything in unison. And, on top of all that, you have to worry about your facial expressions! I’m not going to say dancing is harder than football, but learning a dance is definitely harder than learning a [pass] route!

Q: Do you think all this dance training will help you become more nimble or quicker on the football field?
I’m not sure if it will make me quicker, but it’s definitely keeping me in great shape!

Donald wrote a blog as well. Below is more from JS Online. He’s so thankful as always and looking forward to he and Peta’s Fox Trot. He has some special words for Gavin as well.

Thank you to everyone who voted this week; Peta and I will look to keep the momentum going with the foxtrot.

As always, elimination night was pretty tense. I thought Gavin DeGraw and Jaleel White both did an awesome job with their dances, given they each had only an hour or so to practice. But in the end, someone had to go home, and we’ll miss Gavin’s sense of humor on the set.

It’s hard to believe we’re already at the halfway point of the competition. To me, it kind of feels like we just finished up the second quarter and it’s time to start the third. I’m hoping that the fans and everyone will keep me here until the end of the game.

DWTS14 Maks Chmerkovskiy Doesn’t Feel Support In The Ballroom, Teasers On Next Dance

Well, I was going to wait to see if Access Hollywood posted a video for this interview that broke out last night, but, since I’m not sure they will, we better post the text for this interview now about Maks not liking the “Dance Duel”. He comments about the lack of support in the ballroom (can’t say as I blame him for saying that! He and Melissa have had the hardest dances from the get go! They’ve also been underscored a few times while others have been overscored.) as well. He also gives out some info on he and Melissa’s next dance. Exciting if you haven’t read it yet!

“It’s kind of like the gladiator thing – ‘To the death; and we all became friends. We’re not supposed to fight each other. This is wrong!’”

“Everything about it,” Melissa chimed in, shaking her head.

“And the floor opens up into a virtual death match,” Maks said. “It’s like, ‘Come on!’ It’s just not good.”

Melissa and Maks have managed to hang in the competition week after week, despite their scores, which haven’t moved them out of the lower part of the pack, and Maks is thankful to the fans who are keeping them in the game.

“This is the first season where I feel like, ‘Damn! We have a lot of support out there,’ because I don’t feel the support in the ballroom,” he said.

Next week’s show is inspired by Motown and the pair cannot wait to hit the ballroom and Viennese waltz to “Ooh Baby,” which legend Smokey Robinson will perform as they show off their moves.

“Having Smokey Robinson perform while we dance to it… I really don’t care if we get a 5, I got to dance to Smokey Robinson live singing,” Maks said.

“For me, dancing, with Smokey Robinson singing that song, is beyond a dream,” Melissa noted. “I’m going to try not to cry through the whole thing.”

You can read the full story at Access Hollywood!

UPDATE: Maks’ blog is up at TV Guide. He writes of his frustrations with the Dance Duel and the scores. He also discusses their next dance and the “marathon” (yes, it’s true! There will be a marathon dance!). More below. Be sure to read more at the link.

I thought Melissa did a great job this week. She’s improving little by little and I’m very proud of her. I wish I could answer your questions and explain why we got a lower score after the judges told her it was her best dance yet, but I don’t know what’s going on in their heads. I don’t think Melissa’s the best dancer on the show, but she’s working very hard and it shows. I want her to know that she’s doing an excellent job and I want her to be proud of herself. I’m giving her something that, five years from now, she’ll go, “Check it out! I did that!” That’s what I want for her.

We have the Viennese waltz this week and the marathon. The Viennese waltz is our main focus, and Melissa’s doing well. I think everybody is so tired that we’re just gonna see how the marathon goes. We had a little marathon run-through after the results show. If everybody’s game, we might do something special. I’m focusing on keeping Melissa happy.

The biggest tell was my dad calling me. He never calls. He’s busy as ever. He wakes up at 5:30, out the door at 6, comes home in the wee hours. But he called me and said, “I saw your performance and I don’t get the scores. She was great.” My dad is very straightforward, there’s no sugarcoating. He never compliments someone unless it’s deserved. He’s a very black-and-white type of person. It’s not about, “Oh my God! Have you seen this?” He was like, “Your dance was great. She did great and others weren’t.” I’m fine with getting 7s as long as we’re all judged on the same scale. I would be saying this even if we got the highest scores — everyone should be judged consistently. I’m not obsessing over scores because it’s not like you can change them. But you also have to move forward and do your job, which is what we’re doing. I’m having fun. Melissa’s having fun, and that’s what matters.

UPDATE #2: And below are Maks and Melissa on Access Hollywood today….
