I don’t really have a fourth. Mark makes me crazy. Have never really been into Derek. Maks and Cheryl need a vacation from the show. Like Kym but dislike Jaleel.

Donald is the first footballer that I liked from day one. That is a rarity in my book. I normally can’t stand football guys for reasons that I won’t unnecessarily rant off on
But he embraced the show from the get go and he knows how this game works and looks like he is having the time of his life. Plus without him I would have never seen Peta dance like that with the hip movements, facial expressions and that HAIR flowing. God I love that woman!
Maria has been on my wish list and I finally got my wish when Menough was paired. She is BEAUTIFUL and my favorite dance so far is the quickstep. I smile when she comes on.
To sum up Katherine, I like her because she seems genuine and sweet. But call me evil I don’t want her to win because I want Derek’s record all to himself darn it! Long live the King!!!

My fave is Roshon and Chelsie and no one is a close 2nd. I ended up voting for William (he helped Roshon and is a very likeable guy, I don’t go gaga over him or find him that sexy), Katherine (like her dancing and she’s likeable but nothing more or less), and Donald (really like him and his cute family but his dancing doesn’t draw me in as Roshon does). I like watching Derek and Maria in rehearsal more than I do their actuall performance dances.
My favs are 1) Donald and Peta 2) Maria and Derek 3) Roshon and Chelsie and 4) Katherine and Mark. Good to see them being some of the highest percentages so far. I think that Melissa and Maks and Gladys and T are likeable as well though so they might get more votes soon.

I voted for Katherine, Donald, Gladys and Jaleel. I don’t think Gladys and Jaleel gonna be in semi-finals(top 4) but I really want to see Katherine in Donald in the final(top 3). Other than Gladys and Jaleel, I want Roshon or William in top 3.

IMO this has been a great season of dance and am sure it will continue.
I don’t always agree with the judges scores but it’s the way the show has always gone.

Nathan, this is the first time I’ve loved a football player too!!! I just love his muscles and arm extensions. He and Peta are like Beauty and the Beast. *sigh*
I’m loving Mark for the first time too. Katherine is bringing out the best of him. I love how beautifully she dances…like an angel.
Then there is Derek and Maria. I love their wit. As always, I love Derek’s creativity and flair for theatrics, etc.
I’ve enjoyed William’s dancing too. I just get annoyed with all the pimping and I hope it stops. He’s a person and about so much more. He wants to make it as a serious actor. He can’t do that or be taken seriously in dancing if Cheryl and TPTB don’t stop.
Here are my favourite couples – note, not necessarily whom I consider the best, but the ones that I personally look forward to each week:
-Gladys & Tristan: Hot Irish ballroom dancer teaches adorable singing legend – what’s not to love??
-Donald & Peta: What can I say, I’m a sports fan too, and a sucker for a footballer who actually admits to being a big fan of the show…
-Melissa & Maks: I’ve actually really enjoyed this couple. And she tweets in French.
-Katherine & Mark: They just are lovely together – and I love anyone who brings out the Brit accent in Mark
I voted Katherine, Gladys and Roshon. Didn’t know who to choose for the forth. It would probably be Jaleel if it weren’t for his creepiness.
William, Donald and Maria are all good for different reasons but I can’t warm up to them. Maybe a common thing with the three of them is that, for me, they should have more fun with it, relax into dancing more. William is probably the closest with his “Cuban sexiness” but there should be a bit more to it then that. Which isn’t what Cheryl thinks and, as far as the general public goes, she may be right.
I choose Katherine even though she also sometimes doesn’t seem truly relaxed. But I’ve learned to attribute it to her personality. I think she struggles understanding the emotion of some dances (Paso for example) but she still tries and goes for it so I give her credit for that.

Donald and Peta. I don’t normally root for the football players, but Donald has endeared me, and the fact that he’s been a fan of the show since season 1 helped. And, I love how eager he is, and how adorable his kids are….
Maria and Derek. They are perfectly matched, and both have a crazy sense of humor andmake me laugh during their packages…. And even when not danced the best, I love their performances!
Gladys and Tristan. He is adorable with Gladys, and there is a lot of respect between them…. And she has the most beautiful, and youthful smile ever!!!
Melissa and Maks. They are well paired. And I love the Maks that we get this season…

I had definite favorites in previous seasons, but this season was something else. JR was a perfect winner last year… He had good dancing ability (not the best, Ricki edge him out), great story, awesome freestyle (Ricki’s was ok), and a pro who never won before! It’s Roshon and Chelsie for me and no one else, too. I voted for Katherine and Mark, Maria and Derek and Donald and Peta, but I could easily replace one of those three couples with William and Cheryl. I like William, but Cheryl is probably my least favorite pro (she alternates with Max as to who is at the bottom of my professional rankings). And I thought that was sweet of William to help Roshon out and not take offense at his William impersonation.

I voted for Katherine and Mark, Donald and Peta, Roshon and Chelsie and Gladys and Tristan. I think Katherine, Donald and Roshon are the best dancers, even though Roshon irritates me. I had the pleasure of meeting Katherine, Roshon, and Gladys this week because I was at the show both Monday and Tuesday. Katherine was a real sweetheart and is just is beautiful in real life. I know Gladys probably won’t make the final four, but I adore that woman! I went up to just tell her I was a fan and congratulations for making it through and she gave me the biggest hug! Such a lovely lady and I hope we don’t lose her soon.

1) Maria and Derek: because I can’t get enough of watching my fave pro Derek dance and team Menough is having so much fun together. They just make me happy.
2) Katherine and Mark: because I think she is the best dancer this season and I totally love Markie’s re-claimed sweet personality, enhanced with his Brit accent. Love these two together.
3)Donald and Peta: Cute couple, good entertainment and inventive choreography by the beautiful and talented Peta.
4) Roshon and Chelsie: Fun, fun, fun, these two.
My votes, in order of preference, are:
1. Katherine/Mark — Katherine is, by a significant margin, the best and most versatile celebrity dancer this season. She is also remarkably humble (or else she puts on an incredible act … not just on DWTS, but in every interview/appearance that I have ever seen). IMO, thus far, she has had the best performance every week (although I would accept characterizing Week 1 as a joint top with Jaleel). Even her Paso Doble was the best dance of Week 3. It was unfairly criticized (and Donald’s was slightly over-praised) to “bring her back to the competition.” Yet, unlike others (e.g., Donald or Maks), she has not complained at all and has consistently treated the judges’ comments that night as if they were fully legitimate. I have always enjoyed Mark (on and off DWTS), but he does not present himself well when he has a poor partner. Paired this season with a thoroughbred, his best qualities are on clear display.
2. Donald/Peta — Of the football players who have performed on DWTS, Donald is the hardest working and best rounded dancer. He does not come close to the performance skills of Katherine or Roshon. However, his physical abilities and work effort are consistently displayed. I wish that Peta would feature his (rather than her own) dancing more, especially in this week’s Argentine Tango (where he was essentially her forklift, with little true dancing). However, her focus on “tricks” sells well with DWTS audiences, and I will admit to enjoying them also (especially when as well done as theirs have been).
3. Maria/Derek — I think that Maria is the second-least talented partner that Derek has ever had (behind only Shannon Elizabeth). Derek’s choreography, teaching and leading remain the best on DWTS (although Maria’s flexibility and balance limitations have greatly limited even his choreography). Indeed, IMO, Maria’s progress this season has been Derek’s most impressive accomplishment (rivaling even his work with Jennie Garth, who was racked by insecurities). I love that Maria clearly trusts him to make her look good and that she has put great effort into the aspects of her performances which she can perfect (e.g., her hand placements/shapes and her expressions).
4. Roshon/Chelsie — I don’t expect Roshon to outlast William (because of a fanbase deficit), but he is the better dancer … which matters more to me. With the possible exception of Gladys, Roshon has the best sense of rhythm among this season’s “stars.” He is clearly trained as a b-boy. Most b-boys who have performed on SYTYCD haven’t come close to mastering Ballroom and Latin routines. While Roshon allows too much hip hop/b-boy styling to creep into his Latin, they still look like proper dances. I was especially impressed, however, by the quality of his Viennese Waltz (even though he ended in the Bottom 2 that week). Chelsie had clearly drilled into his consciousness the importance of frame and footwork technique.
P.S.: William has better dance potential than Maria. However, I hate the “hotness” over-pimping that exclusively defines how he is being presented (by everyone except himself). If they would just stop and focus on his dancing, I might start to enjoy his performances. However, I just don’t see Cheryl or TPTB doing that. In addition, I don’t think that William is working as hard as some others this season. Thus, he did not make my Top 4 cut.

Damn, breck…that was seriously deep. I gotta say, I really respect a well thought out analysis.
I think the only thing I might (emphasis on “might” due to lack of data) disagree with is the criticism of Peta and her focusing on her own dancing. Yes, she does do that, but I’ll cut her a lot more slack than I will some of the pros who have been on several seasons because it’s possible she’s still trying to find a balance. She was voted off in week 1 last season.

@Breck, wow, great post, very well reasoned. I’m with you on wanting to see more dancing from Donald in the ATango. He’s got the most natural ability of all the footballers they’ve had on the show. However, I agree with PH on cutting Peta some slack this season. It must be tough, especially for the female pros, to find the right balance between showcasing your celeb and doing enough dancing yourself to make the performance a hit with the viewers.
I voted for Gladys/Tristan, Maria/Derek, Katherine/Mark, and Donald/Peta just because those are the teams I’m enjoying the most.

Like Isaias I have only voted for Donald and Peta. If he was the next to be knocked off I would vote for Gladys and Tristin, then Cheryl and William. I handicap the couples.
My fave:
William/Cheryl : I thunk he is absolutely beautiful and he seems to really want to do well. I had no idea who he was and started to look into him, ok I am a shallow ridiculous woman who needed to know where such beauty comes from but anyway….. Turns out he’s a pretty good actor. I watched a few of his novelas ( with english subs) and he’s really a good actor. I guess the “pimping” thing is a poor way to introduce him to Americans but in all honesty it’s the reason I checked him out and he is really humble and sweet and not just amazingly beautiful. Give him a shot!!!
And although I like Derek and Maria. I get annoyed it’s like high school sometimes with the two of them with the kissing and giggling and silliness. Mark is so talented and such a good dancer but he seems to have an attitude this season like this is all beneath him. I like PETA and I’ve liked Donald since day one. He’s a great guy and is definitely embracing dancing.
PH and Cidra: I have no problem giving Peta some slack about her choreography (especially at this stage of the season). However, she eventually needs to step up further the technical demands that she places on Donald … and he needs to stop thinking that his current performance level already merits 10′s from the judges. To pick just two examples:
1. Donald’s hips are really turned in (which results in pigeon toe or sickling problems with his feet). This seems to be a consistent problem for a lot of athletes. Apolo Ohno really had to work on this problem in Season 4, but he eventually got a lot better after being harshly criticized by the judges. So far (IIRC), the judges have been silent about this issue in their comments on Donald.
2. Donald’s hand shapes are not good yet. There is a wonderful illustration of this problem in one of the pictures posted by OnTheRedCarpet.com for Donald/Peta’s Week 4 Paso. In one of the pictures (41 of 80) [ http://www.ontheredcarpet.com/photos/Dancing-With-The-Stars-season-14--week-4/8614421?photo=41 ], Donald and Peta are in parallel positions (with Donald behind her). Everything about their positions is wonderfully synchronized except their hands … with Donald’s being completely wrong (his right hand is not rotated properly and his left hand is not flexed at the wrist). That is one of the “small” areas where Katherine’s dancing is far superior at this stage.
As evident from my listing Donald/Peta as my second favorites, I think that they are both doing exceptionally well. I just think that there is far more that they might accomplish. To harken back to Apolo again, during his Samba week (for which he scored a perfect “30″), Samantha commented on the fact that Julianne had been screaming at him during dress rehearsal (when everyone else on the show thought that the routine was already amazing). Athletes understand and respond to coaching (and, for most of them, even screaming) … Donald has much more to give if Peta asks for it in the right way.

Donald/Peta – Right now has the best shot at winning. I absolutely adore his relationship with Peta the goddess.
Roshon/Chelsie – I guess I’m like Bruno, can’t believe how on time he is with the beat. And I like Donald, I love his relationship with Chelsie.
Katherine/Mark – Best ballroom dancer this season. I’m inclined to think she is a bigger experience ringer than Roshon since her experience is more ballroom than Roshon.
Maria/Derek – although like some said, I enjoy their pre-dance package more than their dance. Hilarious. I think they just replaced Sherri as the funny one.

I have been amazed at Peta’s choreography, whether Peta has been dancing around Donald or not, she is showcasing her partner, in a good way. Their dances are memorable, THEY as a pair are memorable, they have everything it takes to win that MBT.

1-Katherine &Mark. First of all, Im very familiar with Katherine here in the UK and when I heard that she was going to do the show, I couldnt understand why (no offense) but she is a A celeb over there and in Europe so the show seems a little bit beneath her(once again, no offense

I like their performances and tbh I dont really care about what happens off the dancefloor;its supposed to be a dance show not a rumor mill so I like these 2:)

1. Maria & Derek – Their fun and enjoyable to watch. Her and Derek chemistry is off the hook. Great partnership. Derek teaches Maria well! I can actually see these two in the finals. Overcoming injuries and dancing like a pro out there it’s amazing! I really hope they win this year! How can ppl not like Team Menough-Said!?!?!?!
2. Katherine & Mark – Amazing since the start-Which really shocked me – I can see these two in the finals! But not winning mainly because she not that popular in the USA than in the UK. If she did Strictly Come Dancing in the UK she’ll def win! But I still love them!!!
3. Donald & Peta – Probably my favorite NFL player on the show EVER! He’s funny and wants to do well. Him and Peta have a great partnership. I’ll tell you what I wouldn’t care if this team comes in the first and Maria come second! GO Donald and Maria!!!
4. I guess I have to choose a fourth but I guess Roshon & Chelsie. Not my all time favorite couple to watch. But I WILL NOT put William & Cheryl in my top four! Overscoring Latin Diva!!! I cannot wait til William is ELIMINATED!! But anyways back to Roshon & Chelsie. He’s young, fresh, and make alittle spark into the dances that really capture attention to others! But need to turn down on the “cocky-ness” gets annoying after awhile!

I wouldn’t care if Donald wins but Katherine has too much dance experience which is kinda unfair to many contestants on the show but she’s a joy to watch!

1. Katherine and Mark- She is just so endearing. And a wonderful dancer. She came in a total unknown and you can see she still thinks she will be voted off because of it but she has won people over with her talent and personality.
2. William and Cheryl- Sorry I don’t hold him accountable for Cheryl, Carrie Ann and Bruno’s obnoxiousness. I like him a lot. He wants to do well and he is a good dancer. I think he has great rhythm and like how he is conducitng himself. So sue me!
3. Roshon and Chelsie- Yes he is a ringer, but I like ringers, I like to watch good dancing. I think he and Katherine a probably the best dancers in this. He has moves! Hope he hangs in there even if he maybe failing to connect with viewers.
4. Gladys and Tristan- I just love watching them put forth their best effort knowing they are overmatched. She is a true star and a delight to watch.

Katherine for example is dancing the Samba her main dance + chacha for the dance Marathon and the Jive if she finds herself in the bottom 2 .

Oddly, picking 3 was easy. I love Gladys, Donald, and Roshon; but had a hard time picking a 4th. The judges have completely turned me off to William & Katherine with their blatent favoritism. Maria seems nice but is too breakable. Jaleel & Melissa are just sort of blah

On a happy note, I am delighted to see Roshon break into the top 4. I think he’s earned it by merit of dancing skills and I am loving what he is doing with Chelsie. She seems much more comfortable with her role and the media this year. As a talented young lady with a tough early life, I can’t help but to wish her very well.

@Beka, maybe Douala is a football fan whose favorite team are the arch rivals of the Packers. As we’ve seen before, football fan loyalties and rivalries migrate from the field to the ballroom very easily. I agree with you that Chelsie does seem more comfortable this season. She is talented and I love the way she is maturing and settling into all the aspects of her role as a pro.
It’s interesting to note that the most popular couple in the poll is Katherine Jenkins & Mark Ballas, and Katherine wasn’t even known in the US before this season started. She’s made a big impact with her dancing and personality. Having said all that, my own personal pick is Donald Driver & Peta. Driver’s been an actual fan & loyal viewer of DWTS since Season One.

Huh dwtsfan? Derek and Maria are in 3rd place which is not a bad thing. At times they’ve been close to 1st and 2nd in this poll? I think they are very popular couple. I don’t think there have been any controversies surrounding them either?
One more thing while on this couple and something to think about; if they would have danced on Monday night like they did for the encore on Tuesday night, I think they would have received 2 or 3 tens. It’s not wise to ever underestimate Derek either imo.

While I would ordinarily scold Elara to get back on topic and not talk about other posters…I have to say I am seeing more of what she’s talking about than I like. And not just about Derek and Maria, but also about Maks (shocker, I know), relentless defending of Jaleel (or hating on him), the list goes on – really, if you’ve said the same things about the same person 3 times in the comments on one post? It’s time to move on. If you’ve said the same thing TO the same person across multiple posts? It’s time to move on. I’ve been practicing that myself this season – I strongly suggest that the rest of you give it a try. Frankly, some of you look like you’re just trying to get a rise out of either Derek fans or Maks fans…or even Mark fans. Hell, I haven’t even griped about Willy and Cheryl in a week or so!! Give it a try. Frankly, I’m starting to get REALLY bored reading the same things over and over again.

because not only do I love dancing but I love to talk about the technicalities of it(proper form, steps,….even there is not a lot of talk about those things here). This is really the first time that I sit down to follow this season(I kind of lost interest since the Gilles/Lil Kim era lol).

But I saw a lot of comments like “what should we write? what is the limitation?”. So, I think perhaps the best way to keep comments respectful is preparing a sticky “rules” topic. I don’t think we need a rules post – the rule is simple. You don’t talk about other posters. I’m not going to make a rule that limits how often a person can post – that’s too difficult, and the topic does change frequently. Really, how hard is it to be SELF AWARE and recognize that “hey, I’ve said the same thing on this post four times, maybe they just don’t freakin’ agree with me” and walk away?
Maybe I’m expecting too much, but I figure that most people here are reasonably intelligent and when someone points out that they’re starting to sound like a bunch of trolls that maybe they would back off a bit and think before they write.

@Meggie – I don’t pretend to know specifics, but I do remember Chelsie in early interviews for SYTYCD, season 4 – I think she was 18 at the time. They interviewed her along with her family of 5 brothers and mother in their tiny 2 bedroom apt. They were a family that had come from some wealth, but the father lost it all without warning, and then either took off or – I don’t even want to say, because I’m not sure – agh – worse? Can’t remember, and I cant find that original interview. Just remember that at a very early age, Chelsie who had been training in ballroom, started competing to make money for the family. I wish I could find the interview. I certainly don’t want to misreperesent. Can anyone else fill in the gaps? anyway, I’ve always admired her spirit and wanted her to do well with the show.
I like Chelsie, but….I’ve always been under the impression that it is VERY expensive to compete in ballroom. It almost seems counter intuitive to say she came from a family with money trouble so she competed to make money. I think you spend more than you make. I could be wrong.

@Princess Heidi – yeah I remember that with the interview, that there were brothers working and paying for her lessons and costumes, ect. and her need to give back to the family… like I say, I don’t know the details and don’t pretend an intimacy. But there was a support from the family with a talent that they wanted her to grow, and an expressed desire by her to earn her way – giving back with that support.
In any case, I really appreciate the relationship she seems to have with Roshon. He’s the first partner she’s had where they seem to really get there together. It makes me like him more.

My favorite four couples are:
1. Maria & Derek
2.Donald & Peta
3.Katherine & Mark
4.Roshon & Chelsie
This is a very tough season. I pretty much enjoy all of the couples. I am, however, most impressed with Maria because she is totally out of her element. Like a fish out of water-LOL. Her posture is beautiful and her determination endearing. Derek has helped her to become a beautiful performer. Her Rumba in week 3 was breathtaking. Derek outdid himself on that routine! The scenery, the choreography & the music-breathtaking. It was the best performance of the night for me. IMO-Derek & Maria are perfectly matched. I really enjoy them as a couple and think their adorable together. They are a joy to watch. She’s enjoying every moment of this experience and has the heart of a Lion~Go Team Menough. I hope they make it to the finals.
I think Roshon and Chelsie are adorable as well and appreciate the respect he has for his partner. Hope he goes far in this competition.

I voted for:
1) Katherine & Mark – I have always enjoyed Mark’s choreography but this season he just wows me. Katherine has been amazing and she looks stunning – loving the costumes!
2) Donald & Peta – the first week I wasn’t sure about Donald. He was all over the place with too much energy. After that he has settled down and I have enjoyed watching him. It is nice to see Peta with a good partner this season so she can show us all what she can do.
3) Melissa & Max – I have been a fan of Melissa for a long time. Each week I am hoping to see her step up to the next level. Do I think she will make it to the final – no, but I am waiting to see her get that breakthrough dance.
This has been an interesting season – I have enjoyed all of the couples – some more than others.
@Sandy I miss Jack too. I really thought he had a great partnership with Anna. I loved his sense of humor, how appreciative he seemed, and how hard he was trying. Those things go a long way in my book along with being a decent dancer. His tweets lately have just made me like him even more.
I voted for:
Roshon/Chelsie: I didn’t know what to think of Roshon at first. I thought he was a little overconfident at first, but I think part of it is just youthful exuberance. A lot of exuberance, which may be why he’s so skinny. He’s grown on me because he seems to have a positive attitude and is working hard at the ballroom dances. I didn’t really think he would be able to make the transition, but I’ve been really impressed with his dances. I’d really love to see what he could do in the freestyle. Plus I like Chelsie as well and woukd like to see her get a shot at the finals.
Maria/Derek: Maria is not a better dancer than Katherine, but I think she’s improved more and has loosened up quite a bit from that first dance. I loved the rumba in her personal story week and her personal story. Plus I really admire her toughness and love her sense of humor. I think her laugh is the greatest; I can’t help but laugh when she does.
Donald/Peta: I’m still so torn about this for the simple fact that I never thought I’d be voting for a Packer… I love his enthusiasm and think it’s awesome that he readily admits that he loves watching DWTS. I’m not wild about the tongue, but who doesn’t like that smile? He’s a pretty good dancer, but there’s something that just doesn’t seem right occasionally. It may be some of the things Breck pointed out. I find myself comparing Donald to Hines. I may be wrong, but I feel like Hines was more fluid in his movements. I think Hknes had the Samba bounce down pretty good for a football player so I’ll be interested to see what Donald does with the Samba.
I didn’t vote for a 4th. I just couldn’t bring myself to vote for Katherine. Even though she’s a good dancer and seems to have a good effect on Mark, I just would’ve appreciated her being a little more forthcoming about her dance experience. I couldn’t vote for William because of the blatant favoritism. I will say this… As much as I’ve made jokes, more so about Cheryl, William seems to be a decent guy. I always appeciate a celeb who humbly remembers where they came from and is genuinely thankful they are for what they have…
@dwtsfan thanks for the video. I’ve seen the audition before but not the package before the dance. I think in general pros are always at their best when they are paired with a capable (in Roshon’s case, more than capable) partner. I love Anna when she was paired with Evan. I think she did her best choreo that season. I also remember in season 12 Chelsie said Romeo was her most talented dancing partner at that time, and while I love Romeo, he is not half as good as Roshon. So I can see why she seems to enjoy herself more this season.
RJ: You have suggested that Katherine has more dance experience than she has acknowledged. I have seen this claim made often, but with no evidence to support it. I can’t definitively prove that your claim is wrong … proving a negative is nearly impossible. However, I think that it is incumbent on anyone making this kind of claim to articulate the basis for it.
Katherine has acknowledged having taken tap lessons as a child. I have never seen/heard any claim that she has further studio training. She has also acknowledged performing with ballerina Darcey Bussell in the show “Viva La Diva.” She has described that experience as “I taught her to sing a little, and she taught me to dance a little.” I have only been able to find short clips from that show on the internet. The full show is available on DVD, but I have only found it in Region 2 (European) format … which my DVR can’t use. The short youtube clips show her doing only a very limited amount of tap dancing … no Latin, no Ballroom, no partner dancing of any kind.
Katherine has further said that, in her day job, she normally simply stands in front of an orchestra. Almost all of the youtube clips of her singing show exactly that … she barely moves at all … not even swaying much side-to-side. There are a couple of clips where there are dancers who perform around her. With one exception, however, in all of the clips which I have seen, she either stands completely still or, at most, walks around a little and/or is lifted and carried by the dancers.
The one exception is a live performance at the O2 of the song “Angel,” where she performs accompanied by a Cirque du Soleil style aerialist. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s3ovFOCGKDE&ob=av2e For most of that song, she is either laying on a bed or just walking around without dancing. At about the 4:15 mark, however, she goes airborne for about 45 seconds in the arms of the aerialist and performs a few lift-style maneuvers with him. Finding this clip before DWTS-14 begin gave me some hope that she might have some dance talent (because it showed ability to point her toes, trust in her partner, flexibility and core strength … all big pluses for ballroom dancing).
Unless you are aware of some other dance experience (which I would love to learn about), I don’t think anything described above is, in any way, inconsistent with Katherine’s own descriptions of her prior dance experience. I also don’t think that it makes her even remotely a “ringer.” It certainly does not compare to Roshon’s prior dance experience or, to pick just one example from a past season, Nicole’s experience.
@Breck I’m not sure that it’s incumbent upon me… However, Katie Couric asked Katherine in an interview if she had any done any dancing before. It was a question that seemed to call for a simple yes or no answer, but Katherine didn’t answer yes or no. Instead she stated that when she sings she doesn’t have to move around or shake her naughty bits. In my opinion she dodged the question, which is why I feel she hadn’t been forthcoming.
@RJ and Breck – I believe we have had this discussion before on this site. There are some videos out there of Katherine with some very impressive dancing (and not just tap btw). To my knowledge she has never admitted it publicly, but to me, her training looks extensive. She is a ringer, You bet ya!
So there is some evidence out there, its only if anyone chooses to look for it or not.

breck, let me start by saying that I don’t really care about Katherine’s experience – the only thing that bothered me about it was that Mark wasn’t getting close to the level of shit for having another ringer that Derek gets even without a ringer. Lots of HUGE double standards. Anyway, I’ve seen video of her doing tap and I’ve seen video of her doing a dance very reminiscent of a Paso Doble – that is dance experience. Even though she hasn’t had training in ballroom, these things make her a ringer. Just like Sabrina, Mya, Joey, Nicole, Mel B and others were ringers. None of them had training in ballroom, some of them had no training in dance…but if you’ve spent time prior to DWTS doing any kind of dance or learning choreography, you have an edge. Now, as I’ve discussed ad nausem, there are levels of ringers and I would make her a lower level one, plus it’s balanced out by being relatively unknown. But I would definitely make her a ringer.

Team Rochee is my favorite. I am thorough enjoying their partnership, especially how hard he works for her and get a huge kick out of the very scripted showmancing.
Donald and Peta are my next favorites. I like Donald’s personality and that smile, as well as his skills. I have also enjoyed seeing what Peta is made of professionally.
Next is Maria and Derek. What a fantantic partnership and they have so much fun together.
