Conrad Green Talks About The Dance Duel, Voting, An All-Star Season Of Dancing With The Stars, & More
Conrad Green, the producer for Dancing With The Stars, tells the New York Post conversations are indeed underway about an all-star season of Dancing With The Stars and as early as next season. He talks about the Dance Duel this season and how voting works too. Lots more below….
The dance duel STILL is uncomfortable to watch, I don’t care how he spins it.
And what Conrad neglects to mention is that people who AREN’T really popular but are good dancers are protected by the judges scores. So he kinda mis-states the viewers vote importance.
Thank goodness the last dance duel is this week. I don’t think anyone has mentioned that they like this method. Even if this had been in place when Bristol Palin was clumping around , it was rumored that she had such a fan vote that she would never have been in the bottom two. So that kind of knocks the theory that the dance duel was implemented to save good dancers.
Wow…. Mr. Green says at one point (about the Dance Duel) “we didn’t think it was appropriate at the end…” Let’s just say I agree with only the first 3 words of that statement… 😉
If it’s true that TPTB know about, or (hopefully read) this site – I call BULL-CRAP on that, Mr. Green! This has been hard to watch, as in your youngest contestant “battling” your oldest contestant doing a freaking JIVE. It feels manipulated. I’m enjoying it less and less. No, I’m NOT in that coveted 18-39 demo. I’m an older gal, with disposable income (which in the current economy, is rarer and rarer). And I HATE what you’ve done to a show that I’ve loved for 7 years. Shame on you.
Well, here I go again, spamming the thread… 🙁 Up front, to the mods, I’m really sorry. But I just had a thought.
If Mr. Green is concerned about DWTS staying fresh, and getting people invested enough to vote, when why not incentivize them? For instance, start something where voters are selected at random, and given little things – like a signed copy of one of the initial photo shots for their favorite couple. I don’t know about the rest of you, but I’d love to have a copy of the DWTS Season 14 poster, signed by the cast. Or maybe a DWTS coffee cup (Hubby loves his coffee in morning). Heck, most of that stuff wouldn’t cost much more than the price of postage.
Or go hog wild, and offer tickets to the Finale for voters, selected at random. It wouldn’t cost a dime, if it was one of those “winner assumes all responsibility for airfare and accommodations” types of contests. But I would imagine that if TPTB offered some type of “expenses paid” trip to the Finale, for just one or two voters, that would motivate folks to pick up the phone and call the 1-800 numbers, and text, and log in and vote online. If TPTB turned more viewers into voters, what would be the need for additional manipulation?
Good idea Sally!!!
It seems I did see a local contest about a trip to the show…but honestly, I wasn’t paying attention. I was fast forwarding to get to the rest of Once Upon a Time. 🙂
