DWTS Season 14 Stats Class – Week 7
Yay Week 7 aka Classical Week, and you know what that means? It means that later this week you’ll get my Predicted Scores Scorecard for the “Middle Third” of the season. Are you wondering what I mean by the “middle third” well… continue reading.
– First “Third”: Weeks 1 through 4
– Middle “Third”: Weeks 4 through 7
– Last “Third”: Weeks 7 through 10
And in case you’ve forgotten here is the post of how the “Age”, “Occupation”, “Professional Partner” categories breakdown.
Since this is Week 7 how does that affect the predicted scores since I have Week 7 in both the “middle third” and “last third”… simply that I will have individual average scores for the two thirds and average it out from there… I had a reason for doing this, because I did the same in Week 4, but for the life of me I forgot why… anyway… onward!
ROSHON FEGAN
Dance: Argentine Tango
Average Scores:
– Age: 23.667
– Occupation: N/A
– Professional Partner: 22.000
Predicted Score / Rank: 25 / 7th
Comments: Oh boy, in a dance where lifts are actually allowed, Roshon isn’t going to be able to take full advantage of that little nuance unless they pull some of the lower lifts like the pseudo one they did during the Rumba last week. The only Disney kids to have done the Argentine Tango were Season 11’s Kyle Massey (29) and Season 12’s Chelsea Kane (28), but they did the Argentine Tango in Week 9 which are in the “last third” of the season breakdown. Whether Roshon could get anywhere near that high is anyone’s guess, I’m hoping he can, but the numbers are telling a different story here.
MELISSA GILBERT
Dance: Argentine Tango
Average Scores:
– Age: 20.833
– Occupation: 24.333
– Professional Partner: 24.000
Predicted Score / Rank: 25 / 6th
Comments: Only Season 10’s Pamela Anderson has done the Argetine Tango and she got a 22 (actress in her 40s), what is also odd is that she has had a lot of 7-paddles up to Week 6 only to finally break the barrier in Week 7 (she’s had a couple more 8 paddle in her run up to the point, but the scores were roughly in the same area). So the trends seem to be rather similar between Melissa and Pamela in general. Maybe this would be Melissa’s week to shine like it was Pamela’s break out week? But would it be enough, since Pamela was voted off in Week 7 as well? I guess only time will tell.
JALEEL WHITE
Dance: Viennese Waltz
Average Scores:
– Age: 25.267
– Occupation: 27.000
– Professional Partner: 23.667
Predicted Score / Rank: 26 / 5th
Comments: Jaleel has had a decent comeback week, can he keep up the momentum going into Week 7? It’s a possibility. Season 8’s Gilles Marini did the Viennese Waltz on Week 7 and got a 27. So at this point in time I would say that Jaleel has a decent chance on getting a similar score if not a point off. I’m hoping he’ll pull through, but we’ll see.
WILLIAM LEVY
Dance: Viennese Waltz
Average Scores:
– Age: 25.267
– Occupation: 27.000
– Professional Partner: 24.800
Predicted Score / Rank: 26 / 4th
Comments: It is nice to finally see Cheryl getting called out for pole dancing around William, ok that’s a harsh assessment of his dancing skills, I’m sure he’s a really good dancer, but dammit I haven’t seen much of it! I’m thinking the Viennese Waltz will really show how strong of a dancer he’ll be this time around. Being an actor also in his 30s he ends up getting the same comparison as Jaleel in that the only other actor in their 30s to have done the Viennese Waltz this late in the season was Gilles Marini. Honestly, I don’t know if the predicted score is accurate for William, time will tell.
MARIA MENOUNOS
Dance: Paso Doble
Average Scores:
– Age: 24.364
– Occupation: 21.750
– Professional Partner: 25.500
Predicted Score / Rank: 26 / 3rd
Comments: Unfortunately I haven’t been keeping up with Maria’s injury report after she hit her chin, from what I have been able to see she has been doing decently well regardless of the injuries sustained thus far. Season 10’s Erin Andrews did the Paso Doble in Week 9 and got a 29. Will Maria break out from the middle of the pack? The predicted score isn’t showing it, but it doesn’t hurt to hope.
KATHERINE JENKINS
Dance: Rumba
Average Scores:
– Age: 24.389
– Occupation: 24.167
– Professional Partner: 24.750
Predicted Score / Rank: 26 / 2nd
Comments: I felt that Katherine had a little bit of trouble trying to be sexy and smoldering while doing the Argentine Tango a few weeks back despite the high score… but that’s just me. If she could turn up the heat (without burning the dance facility down) and feel comfortable being sexy she should be ok. Season 8’s Lil Kim did the Rumba in Week 7 and got a 26 while Season 11’s Brandy got a 24 in Week 4, so I see no problems with Katherine getting at least a 26… do I think she’ll do better than the predicted score? Maybe, probably… most likely.
DONALD DRIVER
Dance: Viennese Waltz
Average Scores:
– Age: 25.267
– Occupation: 27.000
– Professional Partner: N/A
Predicted Score / Rank: 26 / 1st
Comments: Donald has been on one hell of an upward trend, but is he peaking too early? Hard to say. I don’t think so considering that other NFL players before him (Season 10’s Chad Ochocinco did this dance in Week 7 and Season 12’s Hines Ward did it in Week 6) got either a 25 or 27. Getting a 26 should be a piece of cake for him as long as he stays on this trend. He’s been doing rather well in hold position for the ballroom dances, so I’m not worried, in fact I wouldn’t be surprised if he gets at least one “10” in this dance… but that could be blind hope.
Wow, very interesting! Thanks for sharing 🙂
Just a quick question, and sorry if its been asked/answered before, but how do you determine the order If they are the same scores? Is it based on the highest number before the score is rounded? Like 25.9 is lower compared to 26.1?
@Al – Good question, if you notice the scores in the three “categories” are w/ three decimal places… so on my original spreadsheet I have the original scores in accordance to the three decimal places.
But since the judges’ scores are nice neat integers I had to round the scores up or down accordingly but I kept the ranking as is.
Hope this helps!
So interesting as always! I wouldn’t be surprised if your predictions are very close this week?
Sadly, what I want the scores to be is nowhere near what I predict the scores will be. As a result, I find I am not quite as excited as I have been in the past for dance time to draw nigh.
But, I hope fabulous dancing and fair scoring for everyone. Here’s to a great night!
as a P.S. – where is Courtney with the Cheesecake? Serious Withdrawal here! Hope everything is all right, Courtney~!
@marianya:
It does, thanks! 🙂
What was the name of the song that was played when Team Paso Doble (Spelling?) Cherly’s team danced.
rudy…John usually does a post on the music. It should go up sometime in the next couple hours. I don’t know…but someone else might, if you can’t wait for John.
Who was the singer when Jaleel danced the Viennese Waltz?
this is very confusing..what do you mean by age, occupation, why are they all scored 25 or 26…would be real nice to have a key explaining what this all means.
@alan: They are all averaged scores from various factors and variables… Here is one of my earlier posts about what “age”, “occupation” and “professional partner” means…
