Dancing With The Stars Season 13 Champ J.R. Martinez Welcomes Baby Girl Into The World
Congratulations to Dancing With The Stars Season 13 Champ and Iraqi war veteran, J.R. Martinez. He and girlfriend Diana Gonzalez-Jones welcomed daughter Lauryn Anabelle Martinez into the world lastnight in Los Angeles. Below is a take from People.com with J.R.’s reaction. So cute!!
“She’s already got a nickname — Belle,” Martinez, 28, tells PEOPLE of his newborn baby girl, who weighed in at 7 lbs., 13 oz. and is 21 inches long.
“She has a couple of cute little freckles on her cheeks, a full head of hair and the cutest little lips,” he continues.
“It’s just amazing to see her, finally. She’s beautiful.”
The Iraq war veteran and Gonzalez-Jones met when he landed a role on All My Children in 2008, and announced in December that they were expecting their first child.
“God has a tremendous sense of humor that he wants to continue to surround me with women,” Martinez said with a laugh, revealing that a baby girl was on the way.

Congrats to JR and Diana!!
Congratulations JR and Diana. God’s little gift from heaven has finally arrived. Blessings to them all.
Congratulations to JR and Diana, and all the best to baby Belle for a long, happy and healthy life.
Awwww what happy news! I bet that little one is an absolute DOLL
Congrats JR & Diana!
And can I just say, props to them for picking a normal baby name!!!! Not named after produce/an animal/a plant/a city/a comic book character/a color/etc. Or given a supposedly “unisex” name that sounds pretty damn masculine…*cough*JessicaSimpson*cough*. I’m all for creativity & whatnot, but baby names require a certain degree of caution…
I agree about the baby name
Lucky little girl….what a great mommy & daddy to have!
Such nice happy news. Her name is beautiful. Congratulations to JR and Diana!
AWWWW!!! MANY Congratulations going out to JR and Diana on the birth of their Beautiful Baby Belle!!!
Another normal name for a celeb baby
I hope him and jessica simpson start a nice trend of normal baby names becuase both thier kids have really cute names.
@vin – I think Maxwell Drew is a cute name…for a boy. For a girl?
Not so much…
@Courtney: They are probably just going to call her Maxi everyday anyways. I’ve heard worse names lol Blu Ivy comes to mind lol.
Maxi for short isn’t bad. Always reminds me of Laura’s and Luke’s girl on General Hospital! ( yes, I’m dating myself!)
@Meggie – Now watch, cause I’m about to date myself
Maxie was actually Frisco & Felicia’s daughter…Lulu was Luke & Laura’s. I remember when both Lulu & Maxie were both born on GH…and now they’ve been SORASed so they’re older than me. It ain’t right, dammit!
I miss Robin Scorpio, the only soap opera character in history that actually aged in real time.
@vin – Ok, Maxie is more feminine, but think of the potential teasing – I can hear 12-year-old boys calling her “Maxi pad!” already!
I didn’t think of that. Hopefully that doesn’t happen
@Courtney – “Maxi pad”… Now that is just terrible. I feel bad for Maxwell (Maxi) already. Kids are so cruel.
Welcome to the world, Baby Belle!!! Congratulations to you and your parents.
Aww congrats J.R. <3
My favorite DWTS champ, love this guy!
@Courtney Robin wasn’t the only soap character hah, Starr Manning too. She was only SORAsed by
Oops didn’t mean to click enter
But yeah aged by a year or two. Kristen Alderson grew up on the show pretty much and is now on GH since OLTL was cancelled.
Right, Frisco and Felicia’s daughter! I liked Robin too. She was such a smart little kid! I was really sad when Amber Tamblyn left GH. She played Emily, I think. I thought she was a great little actress. So much for the reminiscing – I feel old! Glad to find some GH lovers here though!
first the calm part of me wants to congratulate JR and Diana for their little miracle and for giving her a name that won’t embarrass her when she grows up. i am sure she is gonna be an amazing person…just like daddy and mommy.
the bitchy part of me….that at this particular moment is 90% wants to say Jessica your name choice for your daughter should make you ashame…so…with the name Maxwell Drew a go with 2 possibilities – either you really wanted a boy…or you had a big crush on your ex-husbad’s brother and it materialized in the name for your baby girl…do children have the options to change their name or suit the parents? they should!!!
*sorry…that was SUE their parents…
I’m not defending the name here; just adding some information! Apparently, Maxwell is Jess’ hubby’s middle name and Drew is Jessica’s mother’s maiden name. Didn’t say I liked it, but that’s how they came up with it – keeping it in the family, so to speak!
Maxwell Drew??!! *sigh* Why do parents do that to their children??
SORASed? help, I’m pretty new to these internet acronyms (although having grown up in a military family, acronyms should be a cinch for me!)
@Meggie – yes, keep it in the family by all means (not being sarcastic here, I really do like when parents choose family names, even unusual ones. I’m from the South, it’s a requirement in certain circles LOL) but for a girl baby might have been better to go with Drew Maxwell. I guess parents think everyone is going to love their little bundles of joy as much as they do, and will find everything as endearing, including the name, as the family does.
@Linde: Yup, I like Drew Maxwell better too. Maybe it’s the daddy who needed his name first.
My cousin was reading a book in class once, and there was a guy named Max who was teased and called Maxi Pad. She started cracking up and all of the 12 year old boys had no idea why that was funny. Of course, they hadn’t taken health yet.
Congrats to JR and Diana! Welcoming what should be another amazing person into this world!
