DWTS William Levy And Cheryl Burke Give A Few Details About Their Trio Dance And More
William tells Access Hollywood he learned their new routine in an hour Wednesday just so Cheryl could go home early to celebrate her birthday yesterday. They goof around and then explain their dances for Monday including the Trio dance which Cheryl jokes calling it a “Threesome”. She doesn’t name the third pro who will be dancing, but, says it’s required that the third person dance atleast 20% of the dance. The third dancer who will be dancing with them is also a “guy”. William hopes he will look good against a professional dancer …who could either make him look good or destroy him. More below…
Seriously? Pro or not William Levy can not look bad. So excited for him and Cheryl and I can not wait to see the Paso she puts together. I’m feeling epic dance coming on!!!!! Is it Monday yet?
Tracey – This is just my opinion, but yes, another male pro could make William look really bad, by showing all of us how the dance is *supposed* to be done.. 🙁 I think that if you’ve got 2 professionals of the same sex in the trio, the celeb has a slightly better chance, since he/she will stand out more… even if you are Katherine, dancing with Markie & Sasha – at least you’ll look calm & serene by comparison… 😀
What is the point of this trio dance anyway? Does the shie really think our opinions will change on the star and our votes by having another pro show them up? There are people making multiple e-mail accounts in order to vote for someone who may not be a very good dancer. I give stars like William Levy alot of credit. He’s virtually unknown, he is trying to make it here and is constantly asked to strip. It’s stupid. He’s a good guy with alot of heart and alot of talent. AND his fans are not tweeting and facebooking urging people to open multiple email accounts just to keep him on the show.
Sally, Mark picked Tristan; he hinted in his blog….”pot of gold”.
Sheery – saw that, thanks. I was soooooo hopeful that Katherine & Markie would get Sasha – we could have called it the Classical Singer and the A.D.H.D. twins… 😉
The fact that William and Cheryl will be dancing Paso Doble, choosing a male pro dancer makes sense. I’m hoping they have chosen Henry and not Tony because if the objective of this new twist is to showcase the celebrity then the lesser known pro – less impressive (in terms of winning, etc.) would do a much better job of doing what is asked of him. So I’d say, I hope they have chosen Henry for this man’s dance. Also, it helps that he is closer in height to Cheryl _ shorter than William. Tony would complement the Maria-Derek Samba whic is more of a woman’s dance. They can easily upstage each other to showcase Maria’s peformance.
The problem with choosing a male pro if you’re William is that one of the judging criteria (according to the press release) is how well you showcase the Celebrity. I’m not sure how you do that if there is another guy there – because the focus IS the man. Now, if there were two women – one the bull and one the cape or something like that – it would make more sense. Both women going after William. I think there is a pro dance out there of Derek doing a paso style with two women. I think for Maria’s Samba there are numerous ways you could go with either a male pro OR a female pro. And I can’t even guess what Derek might do – two men fighting over the same woman in a hot latin club??
Really, no matter how you do it, it’s going to be a chore to make sure the Celebrity is showcased and not the two pros…I wonder, when did this show become about the professions for the Producers??? Because that’s how this is starting to play for me. The celebrity isn’t challenged here any more than usual – but the professionals?? It’s always been about the pros for me – kinda surprised that it seems to be that way for the Producers too.
If Cheryl is familiar with bullfighting … its traditions and practices, choreographing that Paso will be a thrilling experience. With the inclusion of a 3rd member, she can give us a glimpse of what precedes and leads to the triumph of the magnificent matador. The 3rd pro can be used as the matador’s assistant who can dance to entice the bull into the arena with the matador watching … assessing the situation before he starts the fight. I thought the choice of Henry with his dynamic style and youthful energy, he can make a powerful intro that will highlight the matador as the ‘show’. Paso is a man’s dance where he_ the matador_ is the centerpiece of the dance. William with his commanding charm and acting skill has the ‘aces’ to make this a thrilling dance. Can’t wait to see how Cheryl has choreographed this dance. She’s very innovative … creative, and individualistic in the way she conceptualizes a dance _ Rob’s freestyle and Drew’s are perfect examples.
With Foxtrot and Paso, barring ankle problems, William can show he is a real contender. Foxtrot can showcase his acting_ romantic and comedic flair and his ‘prince charming’ persona; with Paso _ he can show off the ‘macho’ in him that many find delightful. Again, if that ankle cooperates, he’ll make a commanding impression in these two dances and seeing how Cheryl handles her celebrities’ skills and talents, I think, we will see something really entertaining. What I love about Cheryl as a choreographer is her being a ‘purist'(very organic) in the way she conceptualizes her dance and presents it. The leaderboard next week will show who will win this competition.
She used to be all those things. Not so sure any more. As for William – I have yet to be impressed. I like him as a person, but as a dancer….there have been better. There are better on this season.
And no, the leaderboard this next week will not necessarily show who will win the competition. That’s a bit of hyperbole. If William wins, it won’t be on dancing.
I am a huge William Levy fan. Not just because he is absolutely beautiful. I believe he gives 100% in all aspects of his life. I guess my point is that everyone needs to remember that the “stars” are people who also work in different walks of life. Singers, athletes, television personalities and movie stars are not dancers. They have not trained for hours a day for years. They have not practiced in schools dedicated to perfect their skill. They were asked to participate. It makes me crazy when I hear people critique the stars based on a few weeks of lessons. William has improved greatly since week one. As did alot if the others. To say if William wins it won’t be for dancing is a joke. So if Maria wins, is it because her fans are opening numerous accounts to vote? Or if Melissa wins is it because people are outraged over the judges comments every week and blow up the phones to make a statement? The show has become a ridiculous popularity contest. They are all trying to improve and if William Levy wins it’s because he gave his all and entertained the masses. Which is what DWTS was about to begin with! Sorry for my rant lol.
I think if William wins, it is not necessarily about his looks (Cristian de la Fuente is handsomer but he does not have the charisma that William has). He is a very natural dancer … unfortunately his ankle is injured. Any dancer would tell you that an ankle injury can kill or limit a dancer’s ability to express and execute movements. DWTS is about contestant like him with no prior dance background. The one contestant who has a great edge in this competition is Katherine – just having danced alongside the great Darcey Bussell is a great experience (see her dancing – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IVVNQ_Hak8k ). With a Musical Theatre background, she should shine in her VW. BTW, Derek’s doing a great job of making a dancer in Maria M.
They all give their all, Tracey – so what? That makes William no better than anyone else on the show, and I include Melissa in that. If William wins it will be EXACTLY for what you’re complaining about – popularity contest and crazy voting fans. He’s not the best dancer this season. Not even close.
I agree 100% with Heidi.
I agree with Heidi too. Tracey, I love William, but, they have ALL given it their “all” this season both on the dancefloor in “every aspect of their life”…and have “entertained the masses”. They are all “beautiful” as well.
WILLIAM IS NOT A DANCER GET USE TO THAT. He has been dancing only for almost 2 months..If he wins because he improves just like Rob K.. And they are willing to improve. And I bet even you voguerista, sandy and princess heidi cannot become dancers in just a short period of time Now if you will compare him to donald… his footworks are frequently at ramdom, and his upper body is so stiff. He can’t hardly move his shoulder, hips. But he can improve that…
Civy, I like William and I’ve thought he could dance since day one. I haven’t liked the pimping and Cheryl’s attitude at times, but, I like him. If we were to compare William and Donald, I think Donald is the better dancer. His Jive with Peta and Karina really set that in stone for me. I’ve loved Donald all season.
Yup, I believe Donald’s jive set in stone his spot in the finals. No pimping, No gimmicks. 🙂
You’re right, civy – he’s not much of a dancer at all, and certainly not worth of a perfect 30.
😀 Too easy…
