SPOILERS!!! DWTS Season 14, Week 8 – Who Got the Boot??

Another week, another set of weirdness.  Dance Center and Chris Brown….sorta funny and sorta singing. 🙂  Who got eliminated??

Sixth Place: Roshon and Chelsie

Fifth Place: Melissa and Maks

Actually quite bummed that Melissa is gone, particularly after that cigarette comment in the confessional. 🙂  Also have a new found appreciation for Val after his cussing after hearing Len’s score for Bollywood. 🙂 I’m pretty easy.

How did we do??

Heidi: I said that it would be Roshon and Katherine. My second choice was Roshon and Melissa and my third choice was Melissa and Maria.

Courtney: Court said Roshon was leaving for sure with either Melissa or Maria as the other person; Katherine was a long shot.

Vogue: Said Melissa and Roshon rather unequivocally 🙂

And the winner is: Vogue, for not waffling one bit. Courtney and I can’t say the same. 🙂  Although, there are no real winners here.

More Fun Dancing With The Stars Interviews After Week 8’s Dance (Videos)

Tony Dovolani went backstage to get the couples reactions on their dances last night after Dancing With The Stars for Extra. This is cute, but, Tony’s suit has to go. 😯 LOL!

Also, don’t miss seeing the After Buzz TV interviews. Donald and Peta tease about something, but, wont tell what it is (Encore, maybe?)? Maria and Derek tell of how their Waltz came together. Maks and Melissa enjoyed the three way. Lots more below. Afterbuzz TV may post more interviews, so keep checking back at the link.

DWTS Season 14, Week 8 – Dancing by the Numbers

Pardon me while I rant for a while.  I wrote this first section right after the show and to say I was pissed of might be an understatement. 🙂

Gee, I would really love that I so completely NAILED what the judges were going to do last night, if it didn’t suck so terribly BAD.  Seriously, Maria gets hosed by Len (twice), Roshon has a comeback arc, Wee Willy gets high scores of the night…the only thing I missed on was Katherine.  I cry foul. I hate being right. Only other thing I was wrong about was that it seemed it wasn’t a group effort but that Len was the designated ass last night.

In no universe was Willy’s first dance that much better than Maria’s – Len smokes crack. Then the second dance? Sure, Derek took a risk but I thought that dance was so cute and so creative…but I would understand an 8 from Len (since he lacks vision), but a 7?? Get real.  Me thinks Maria was getting the votes last week and Willy wasn’t.  Derek knows what he’s doing….he’s done it before. But a 7 and an 8?? You know what else? I wouldn’t even have minded the 7…if they had scored Willy realistically and that 8 for Maria’s V. Waltz had been a 9 like it should have been. That 30 for William was out of the park ridiculous.

And a word to those of you who claim that Len judges Derek’s choreo and it’s not fair – well, what did he do last night, eh?? Any hypocrites willing to go on record??  Just one of many things that annoy me. I personally think that the choreo is part of the package and that it goes to showcasing the celeb – but I see this complaint far too many times from people who won’t say a word about last night when Len made it EXTREMELY clear that he was judging the choreo – that’s all he talked about.  It does work both ways – if you hate judging on the choreo, you kinda have to hate it when it goes against Derek as well as when it works for him. Otherwise…

Then again, Cheryl clearly isn’t being judged on her choreo…at all.

Now let’s discuss Donald, shall we?? I dare you to play his two dances at the same time as William’s and tell me that William was the more deserving dancer. In what Universe?? Not only is Donald more enjoyable, but he’s actually the better mover!! Especially look at William’s trio dance – look at his pancake hands and how he has a tendency to stick his ass out. Then compare their showmanship – Donald wins hands down. Someone explain to me how Donald comes out two points behind in this deal?? He’s a far more exciting dancer and shouldn’t that be part of the deal?? Donald should have had the perfect score last night.

Really, Katherine is sweet but pretty boring when it comes to dancing…but she’s also ten times the dancer William is – please remove your genitalia from the scoring criteria. Thanks. If Katherine goes home tomorrow so that William can stay in order to build your Spanish viewers in preparation of the Univision deal, it’s on your heads.

Attention judges and TPTBWTHUCA – when *I* want to turn the channel and start praying for Derek to not come back to your show?? YOU got problems.  You’re really putting me off this show, and I would consider myself die hard (Derek or no Derek), considering how much time I spend on this damn blog.

Okay, now that that’s off my chest…

The Judges Scores and Percentages

New Maria Menounos Interview – Is DWTS Season 14 Derek Hough’s Last??

Great new interview with Maria – very long and chatty and not sure how accurate it is, but still interesting. From the Vegas Deluxe (click the link to read the whole thing):

TV darling Maria Menounos admits that she’s so badly injured from her run on ABC’s “Dancing With the Stars” that by all rights, she shouldn’t still be on the show, and while in Las Vegas over the weekend, she had to use an electric scooter to get around.

“My partner has started calling me Grandma,” she laughed. “The doctors told me I shouldn’t continue dancing. They ordered me to stop. But I refused, even though I am in so much pain,” Maria confessed before rehearsals off-Strip for tonight’s double dance of the samba and Viennese waltz ahead of Tuesday’s double elimination.

Maria was with her pro partner Derek Hough celebrating the launch of Bud Light Lime’s margarita-flavored alcoholic beverage “Lime-a-Rita’ poolside at Mandalay Bay appropriately at a Cinco de Mayo party Saturday. Our thanks to Bryan Steffy for our exclusive, sizzling-hot photo gallery.

But what I find MOST interesting is this bit at the end from Derek:

Incidentally, Derek is juggling new offers and doesn’t know if he’ll be back for Season 15. “I haven’t been asked yet anyway,” he said. “So we have to wait to see what works out with what else I could be doing this fall.”

After last night, I hope those new offers pan out for him. Very much.

Ricki Lake, Tony Dovolani, Louis Van Amstel, and Tristan MacManus Review DWTS14 Week 8

Ricki Lake, Tony Dovolani, Louis Van Amstel, and Tristan MacManus all had some thoughts and reviews on Dancing With The Stars last night. Tony had such a blast with William who he says has such a “big heart”. Ricki and Tony thought Maria and Derek got short changed from the judges in both dances. They thought they short changed Donald and Peta as well. They loved Donald and Peta’s Jive and thought it was the best Trio dance. Tony hopes they get the encore (so do I! The two best dances for me last night were Karina, Donald, & Peta’s Jive and Derek & Maria’s Waltz). Neither could pick who is going home tonight. You can view the video with Ricki and Tony on GMA HERE.

Louis Van Amstel pretty much pegged the dances again (in my opinion) at ABC except for Derek and Maria. He doesn’t understand why they received 10’s for their first dance (wha??), but he didn’t understand the 8 either. Below is more. Be sure to read his full review at the link. I agree how tonight is a hard call for who will be eliminated and it’s going to be an emotional one.

Donald Driver and Peta Murgatroyd’s Tango. What’s difficult about the Tango is staying in close hold most of the time while still making it interesting. Donald did an awesome job, yet again. Great attack, and nice legato movements as well. Great posture. Nice creative ways to play with the hold, yet staying in hold. Totally agree with judges. Carrie Ann, I’m not sure what Donald could have done to create more drama. A Tango the face should stay calm, it’s the movement that should be dramatic, that’s what we call staccato. Good scores! If this was the last performance of the night it could have been 10 in my book.

Maria Menounos and Derek Hough’s Viennese Waltz. Beautiful job on the choreography, keeping it soft and tender. They have very nice chemistry, which was unexpected after seeing the video package. Maria shows that she will do anything necessary to make the top four, which in itself is admirable. Maria is a fighter and that’s inspirational, but from a dancing point of view, I miss the flexibility from her body. If Maria makes it to next week I’d like Derek to challenge her by giving her choreography that’s partly solo, so she can show America what she’s really made of. I actually disagree with Len. I thought it was too much in hold (not close hold, on that point I agree with Len). I want to see more side by side and true elements like spins to show individuality. I don’t get the 10′s. I don’t get the 8 either. For 10s Maria needed to be better technically and have more power behind her movement. Her performance was a 9 in my book.

Melissa Gilbert and Maks Chmerkovskiy’s Foxtrot. Melissa is holding her own in the package, not even attacking back, so good for her! OK, there was one little glitch in the beginning, but overall it was solid and powerful. As a matter of fact it was sometimes too powerful, sacrificing the soft and tender moments which are characteristic of the Foxtrot. Like last week, from the point of view of a choreographer, it was more challenging, which I always believe at this point in the game should be rewarded. I do think the atmosphere in rehearsals affected the performance. We needed to see more warmth between them. Following two weeks of being underscored, I feel this week the judges were overly nice. It was good though, not great. I’m glad Maks realizes he went too far. That’s a big deal. I think the score are appropriate, but I don’t get the judges giving all that praise and then awarding three eights!

Lastly, Tristan has written some highlights at Entertainment Weekly. He walks us through rehearsals and the pants mishap with Katherine. Did you know he also was cut last night? I loved what he wrote about losing one’s temper in rehearsals in this take….

Tons of rehearsal studio drama this week. How easy is it to lose your temper during training? The thing is with the cameras, the cameras are there from the minute you walk into the studio ’til the minute you leave. People lose their rag sometimes. But the thing is, it’s entirely up to the producers what they want to use in the packages and how they want to tell the particular story of what goes on that week. I think that’s really clear with Melissa each week. She’s trying to point out all the time, “well this isn’t what Maks is like all the time.” Some people do get angry sometimes and start to scream and they probably go a bit overboard sometimes. But maybe in the package they might show something going wrong and the teacher starts screaming and saying this and that and that. But that particular scream — that might not have even been what they were screaming about, know what I mean? Reactions become reactions to dance steps that had nothing to do with the original scream in the first place.

But at the same time, like I said, as far as people are in rehearsals, you want to have respect all the time. No one needs to be shoutin’, that’s all, whether they’re 19 or they’re 50 or whatever they are, for whatever reason. No need to shout at people. You don’t need to demean people, and most people remember that. We don’t know the whole story, and I certainly don’t. I shouldn’t be saying what people should be doing because I don’t know what goes on in that room. I just see the packages just like everyone else.

You can lose your temper because you want someone to do well, you can lose your temper because someone isn’t doing well, and you can lose your temper — as stupid as it sounds — because sometimes people just don’t want to do well. In the sense that well, you’re screaming at me all day, I don’t care what happens. But I try not to scream at people. It is what it is.

So, here’s to the results show. I am so nervous. I don’t want any of them to go? 🙁

Dancing With The Stars Season 14 Interviews After Week 8’s Dance (Videos)

What a night! I especially loved the Trio dance and I hope Dancing With The Stars will do it again in the future. Yes or No? I thought the Trio dance helped Donald the most. He received his first 10 and what’s more, with a Jive. 😯 I thought the Trio dance also helped Melissa. Val brought out the best of her and Maks and gone was her “deer in the headlights” look. Let’s see what the couples told George Pennacchio of On The Red Carpet on the night….

Derek and Maria are fine with the judges scores (I wished I was. 😯 ). They had fun and Derek was proud of doing something new. Maria was so glad for the 10’s and 9’s they received. The competition is so close and everyone is so good. Anything can happen to any of them. They hope the fans will carry them through.

Roshon and Chelsie worked hard and they hope people loved what they did. They had nothing to lose this week, so they just went for it. He is so thankful for his fan and “Grandma support”.

George tells Donald that his leap was the best move of the night. Donald says he did what Peta told him to do. They are happy, but, they don’t feel victorious since everyone was good. No one is safe. George loved the different energy last night. Peta and Donald said it was crazy from the beginning to the end. They hope they make it to the semi-finals and they have more to prove if they make it.

George praises Katherine for handling the pants mishap with grace. Neither she or Mark are comfortable with their scores last night. They are nervous about being eliminated, but, they had fun.
