DWTS14 Semi-Finals Mark Ballas To Remind Judges Katherine Jenkins Can Really Get Down
Mark plans to get Katherine’s sassy and sexy on, not to mention, he’s also going to remind the judges that Katherine can “really get down”. Below is more in a take from USA Today. More at the link including his reactions about last week’s dances and his plans for Mother’s Day.
I’ve really been enjoying training this week and both dances suit Katherine nicely. This week, we have the quickstep and salsa, both of which are favorites of mine. We have great songs and themes for each one, and I’m looking forward to treading the boards .
I suspect people may have forgotten how sassy and sexy Katherine can be, so I’m glad we’ll have a chance to remind them with the salsa. If you look back at our jive, samba and Argentine tango, you’ll realize that “Welsh Wiggles” can really get down! I’m going to have to make the judges rememember that.

She needs this week badly. Her dances have faded into the woodwork a little as Donald and Peta have come on. Her fanbase is a lot less than she could wish, I’m sure; this week will be key for her. If she doesn’t score high, she’ll be going home.
It’s looking pretty clear at this point that we’ll have a Donald/William final.
I’m always concerned when Mark talk about “themes” on his dance. He goes so much deep on it.
With Katherine the jive was flawless and is my favourite dance of Katherine. The AT was too much scenic… and the paso, annoying, IMO… Derek did a good job on that Dracula paso, but not too much with the bollywood samba…
This season the pro that really got the “theme”, but never lost the dance was Peta.
Ok, you have a theme, you want go for it, to be different, looking for an innovation. I got it. But you can do this just for a few seconds, please?
I have to “hands down” to Maksim who took no knowledge about the rock week. He didn’t got the edge of the bizarre and I really, really apreciated that. The outfit of his paso with Melissa was very traditional.
I just like theme weeks when they bring us cool artists such as Kiss and Santana. But these artists could come on any week, couldn’t they?
=/
+1 Carlos!!! Great post!
Steve, I agree….Katherine needs to really make a strong mark this week or she is in trouble. For three weeks now, her dances have lacked versus what we saw in the first weeks.
Wonderful news in Mark’s blog about his mom, Shirley. Puts pretty much everything else in perspective, I think.
I agree Katherine is on the bubble this week, but she can’t think about that. I think the strain of trying to hold off the competition has shown in her performances lately. That’s always the risk when you end up the frontrunner. She needs to go back to just enjoying the dancing and let the chips fall where they may. In that regard, Donald and Peta are in a better position.
I think Katherine will pull it off. I’d rather her finish in fourth, but my sense of her is that inside that cool exterior she’s a fighter who rises to challenges when she has to. I’ll be surprised if she doesn’t kill the quickstep and do really well on the samba.
Oh, I’m sure Katherine will do really well – she’s got the two best dances. Question is, if Maria does just as well, who will have the votes. That said…Maria has to Jive on two broken feet. Katherine has an advantage there.
Oh no Heidi! Did Maria’s stress fractures end up breaking all the way through? And is it even possible for her to keep dancing? I love the partnership she and Derek have and want them there every week. I also really would love to see Mark and Katherine into the finals. She doesn’t leave me cold like she does some. I know that someone has to go, I also hope it’s not Donald.
Isn’t the samba suppose to be a tough dance to do properly?
Katherine all ready did the samba. She has the salsa this week. I know she will get the steps right for the two dances, she just has to loosen up a little and have more personality in her dances.
Her one foot has a worse fracture than the ones she had before Jess.
Yeah, it’s supposed to be tough, Meggie – but it’s William so it doesn’t matter.
