DWTS Season 14 – The Judges Discuss the Final Four

Interviews with the judges in USA Today – they discuss each of the finalists strengths and weaknesses in a good bit of detail. Click the link to read it all. I’ve only read Maria’s thus far, but I would say I agree in large part. Their discussion about William is pretty revealing – they are enamoured, for sure. Excerpt below.

William Levy with Cheryl Burke

Biggest strength. Carrie Ann says, “He has incredible charisma. He’s a very sexy, handsome man. What’s really special about his performance is the emotional quality he brings. He has beautiful movement in a very masculine way.”

Len says, “When that guy comes out, the place erupts. I think his biggest strength is he’s very, very popular. And to a degree, as you get down to the semifinals and finals, it does become a bit of a popularity contest.”

Needs to work on. Len says, “His Latin is incredible. He’s got great rhythm. The thing he’s got to work on is his ballroom dancing. … He’s got to become a little cleaner in his ballroom dancing.”

Bruno says, “His only kind of low point was his jive. It’s very, very fast, and he kind of messed it up. His footwork went to pieces a bit, and he kind of didn’t recover. If he gets another dance like the jive, if you make a mistake, don’t let the rest of the dance collapse. You have to move on.”

Dancing With The Stars Season 14 Cast Attend Wango Tango Bash (Photos)

Last night, 102.7 KIIS FM held an event called the “Wango Tango” at The Home Depot Center in Carson, California. Several stars from Dancing With The Stars made a showing. Pictured below in all of their fun selves are Karina Smirnoff, Derek Hough and Season 14 partner Maria Menounos, Chelsie Hightower and her Season 14 partner Roshon Fegan. Mark Ballas tweeted that he attended the event as well. According to the Daily Mail, they were treated to performances by Nicki Minaj, The Wanted, Pitbull, Adam Levine of Maroon 5, and Carly Rae Jepsen to name a few. You can see more pictures and coverage of them at this event at Zimbio Pictures and Pure Derek Hough. Note too how Maria is sporting some really nasty bruises. 😯

DWTS Season 14, Week 9 – Who’s Dancing What…and when?

Everyone say “thank you baby Jesus” for no silly Cha Cha relay or instant dances or any other miscellaneous crap in tomorrow nights show – at least, not so far. 🙂 Don’t get me wrong – I like the instant dances, I just feel like they’ve had enough crap to deal with this season with learning three dances every week MUCH earlier than usual. I imagine they’ll stick a couple pro dances in there to kill some time. But maybe not – the show is only 90 minutes tomorrow night, to make room for (gag) The Bachelorette. The Bachelorette is where I hone my snark skilz. 🙂

This week is really it, folks – who’s got the votes? Will the pimping continue, or are they going to be satisfied now that they’ve got all their chosen one, Willy, in the Semi-finals?? Will we get realistic scoring, or are they desperate to have William in the finals at the expense of someone else? If Donald continues to get shafted on scores, I think we’ll have our answer. The order the dancers are in below is my guess at how the actual order will be. I expect them to handicap Maria and, to a lesser extent, Katherine.

As for the actual dancing?? Advantage Katherine, I think, and William. Samba could be trouble for Donald and we all know that Maria will be doing the Jive on busted feet – no laughing matter. Actually, neither of Donald’s dances favor him, just on the face of it, but I expect him and Peta to pull it out. I don’t think that William’s dances particularly favor him, but it’s unlikely to matter – a couple hip twitches and he’s got a 30. If Maria manages the Jive and doesn’t get totally hosed, and the rest of the dancers are all in the same ball park, then we will really find out who’s getting the votes…or more likely, who isn’t. But somehow, I don’t think they’re all going to land in the same ballpark – someone either going to have trouble with a dance, or the judges will manufacture trouble where there is none. We’ll see!

ETA: Don’t get excited about William going first – it doesn’t matter at this point in the season. Cheryl says Samba is first – no idea if they are doing all the latin first or if they’re mixing it up. Katherine we’re not 100% on just yet.

Toughest Rehearsals Ever Leading Into DWTS Semi-Finals For Donald Driver And Peta Murgatroyd

Donald Driver has penned a new blog at JS Online. He says this week has been all about he and Peta “doing the very best that they can” for their Waltz and Samba. He also gives some teasers for what’s to take place in a piece for Monday. Take a read below to see…

Our practices this week probably have been the toughest ones of the year . . . but you all know I love a good challenge.

Through the ups and downs of this week’s practices, we’ve always kept our eyes on our goal. We know all of our hard work will pay off and lead to a great result on Monday.

In addition to all of the rehearsals, this week ABC has been doing interviews with a few of my friends, family members and teammates for a piece that’s going to air during Monday’s show.

I can’t tell you which one of my teammates they interviewed, but I know you won’t want to miss it!

Sounds cool. One more day and counting the minutes. 🙂
