Maria Menounos Takes us Through A Day Of Getting Ready For DWTS!
Would you like Maria to take you through one of her days getting ready for Dancing With The Stars? It’s not as pretty as one might think.

Heidi ETA: Apparently, Derek is questionable for tonight. Per Extra:
During rehearsals over the weekend, Hough suffered a back injury and is currently seeking treatment. In the past when a professional dancer on the ABC hit series was injured or sick, an alternate pro would step in.
When Mario asked if Derek would be able to perform on Monday night, Maria said, “I don’t know. I’m getting updates as of now that he’s in a lot of pain and is going to wear a back brace. He couldn’t shift it at all… I’m going to pray for the best.”
Maria tweeted a picture Monday of a bandaged Derek with the caption, “So nervous about tonight. Derek is in rough shape…getting him fixed up as I tweet.”
Putting in a “read more” break, since Derek shows a bit more skin than is typical for him. 
Scary. I hope he’s going to be ok!!!
My heart is breaking for them right now. They have come so far with all her injuries. Back pain sucks! I hope Derek doesn’t try to tough it out and ends up hurting himself worse. The odds have been against them all season with her injuries. They have persevered and gave us fantastic performances. I hate to see this now! I have been praying for him all day. God Bless Team Menough and keep them in His care!
As fans, we really need to pull through for these guys! They have endured so much and with great strength pushed through. They need all our help and votes tonight!
Who do you guys think would sub for Derek if necessary? Henry, maybe?

What Maria goes through is what I wish the dwts producers would show. She has such a tough schedule but does it without complaints.
I hope Derek is ok. They have made it this far. Hope everything is ok.
What he MAY have had done if nothing if ripped or torn or displaced are some pressure point injections(really long hair thin needles filled with anesthesia)to alieviate some of the pain where inflamed also possible to get an epidural(yes the same) but that risks some numbness/or loss of control of movement if done today.
Either way, serious, but if treatments were over the weekend they may have had time to settle in and allow him to perform okay. Sure am hoping he is okay. Just heartbreaking all the way around….
If Derek won’t be able to dance, and Maks(or another pro) will replace him, the choreography still will be Derek’s or not? I mean, do the new pro changes the choreography in those situations or they stick with the original?
Sometimes I wonder if this competition is truly worth it. Back injury can be a lifetime full of pain and surgeries. I love these two but maybe it is time to hang up their dance shoes this week. Sorry ladies….

When Derek had food poisoning, Jonathan stepped in just in case. This was season 6 and Jonathan saw their camera blocking and rehearsal to pick up the choreo. He went through dress rehearsal with her. So yes, if Derek cannot dance and say Maks or Henry stepped in, they would be doing Derek’s choreo.
Derek got hurt yesterday – no time for new choreo. I doubt he will sit out in any case. He’s hurt his back or neck several times (not a great recurring injury to have) and hasn’t sat out.
Hope that Tristan takes over if Derek is too hurt to dance.
I’m reasonably certain that it will be “Dancing with the Barely Walking Wounded” tonight, so don’t get your hopes up about Tristan.
My hopes and prayers are with Derek. He is a warrior, like NIcole stated after he hurt his neck. I suspect he will dance if at all possible, but even if he can’t, he has treated us to a wonderful season of memorable performances, and for that I am very appreciative. I plan to vote myself into a frenzy tonight for Team Menough!!
I don’t think Derek will pass on the chance to dance with her tonight UNLESS EXTREMELY in pain to where it would “hurt” her.
I hope Derek dances tonight! My only fear is if he did would he injure himself more. with both injured that would be really bad for a possible freestyle.
@Voguerista: I remeber Maks stepped in for derek with johanna’s dance (the whatever lola wants dance….tango?). Are the odds good that that could happen again or would henry get it automatically becuase he is there already becuase of the troupe?
Vin, I remember that dance too….in fact, it was one of my faves on this show. And I loved Joanna and Maks dancing together as much as she and Derek at the time. He did an outstanding job as he would tonight if he had to fill in. Like Heidi though, I bet Derek will be ok or he wouldn’t be patching and taping up like he is? And I have no idea who would be his fill in for sure?
Derek will dance…the only time he let someone else take his place was when he was with very high fieber…the back recurring back injury….is so dangerous..but i know that won’t make him stay away…first because these are the Semis..second because this is AT ..third…because this is Maria…she danced injured all season long…and he knows…if he is not there to allow the chemistry to happen…they are as good as gone…as for me…although i know he will dance…i rather have him healthy and in one piece than is the final…but i know he won’t step away…so…neither will we!!!
Derek tweeted and it sounds like he’s dancing….it also sounds like it could be rough.
