Random DWTS Trivia: Thor Does the Samba???!!
It’s a slooooowwww news day in DWTS land, so how bout a little random tidbit of DWTS trivia to keep us all entertained…and possibly titillated? 😉
I think we all know that doing DWTS in the States can revive a slumping career, or kick-star a new one…but the same apparently holds true for international versions of DWTS. Case in point? Looky who was shakin’ his hips on the Australian version a little over 5 years ago…

Yes, chirren, that is none other than Chris Hemsworth – probably best known Stateside as Thor. Samba-ing his very toned tush to “Jump in the Line (Shake Senora)” by Harry Belafonte. I think my ovaries just exploded.
Who would have thought that 5 years later, he’d be making hearts palpitate on the silver screen…as the Norse god of Thunder?
Happy Hump Day, ladies. 🙂
yum!!! love a blond man moving his hips like that!!! yeah…not Derek this time around…Derek has bionic hips…but dang… our Thor can moves those hips…
SSssss, this guy is HOT! Wow, I didn’t know he danced on DWTS Australia. Thanks C and Yes, Happy Hump Day indeed! 😀
Wow!!! Thanks C!!! Have no idea he was on DWTS Australia!!! He looks really young there… 😀 But he sure can move!!!
Hey guys, does anyone know when the dances in contention for being nominated for best choreography are going to be announced? I saw the ballots on the emmy site for a lot of the catagories but they didn’t have that listed.
@vin – Heidi would know better than I would, but I don’t think the nominees get announced until late July. As for the ballots, I’m assuming what you saw were the ballots for the entertainment Emmys (best movie, best actress, etc.) – outstanding choreography is one of the creative arts Emmys, and I believe they are voted on by a specific panel.
from wat i can see is the nominations are announced July 19th for the emmy categories I’m assuming the creative arts emmys will be the same day
heres the link to the key dates http://www.emmys.tv/awards/64th-primetime-emmy-awards
Wow! Have to hand it to you girls you find the most interesting things to post. I think he can really dance and look where he is now. I read alot but would have never found this. Thanks to all of you who work so hard at this forum you are all appreciated very much!
Chris Hemsworth didn’t get his career started or “jumpstarted” on DWTS Australia. By then, he was a well-known Australian soap opera star. He did 185 episodes of “Home and Away”, for which he was nominated (and won) and award.
Regardless of whether he was already a star or not in Australia, he was not a household name in the States at that point, Alexandra.
Wow, he was working it-LOL
I have to show this to my sister. She is cra cra about this guy..
Thanks for the post..
Great find! Surprised news outlets did not jump at this!
Perspective with all these dwts/scd is important IMO. Many in the UK view Kat as A list but she was an unknown in the US.
Naomi Campbell is far from a has been in modeling. She still works which is amazing since most of the supermodels of the 90s are not doing runway anyway. But she appeared for one dance on the dwts Italian version.
July 18th, I believe, is when the Emmy nominations are announced. All of season 13 and probably weeks 1 through 8 on season 14 are eligible. I haven’t looked at the DVD submission dates lately. That’s the date that determines eligibility for DWTS, since the show is live. Looking back, DWTS gave a lot of the pros a good shot with pro dances…but will it be enough to get past SYTYCD?? Doubtful, since the vast majority of voters can’t do ballroom and lean toward contemporary. Not to mention that Nigel Lithgow is a really good campaigner.
Maybe Chris and Billy Ray Cyrus can compare moves the next time they get together since they are going to be connected. Chris’ brother is engaged to Miley.LOL
