DWTS 15 – All Star Cast Announcement (Live Blog)
Another season, another cast…oh wait. Another season, with an old cast, of sorts. 
I am actually excited – didn’t think it was going to happen. I imagine the screaming will start shortly, however.
Anyway, tune in here at 10:30 pacific (1:30 eastern time) we’ll be updating as fast as we can and, of course, snarking as hard as we can. We will get snark out of Vogue if it’s the last thing we do.

ETA 2: After a moment to catch my breath…I’m digging this cast, with the huge exception of Bristol. And many people are going to have new partners, so they better ALL have new partners. If they stack it in Cheryl or Mark’s favor by giving them Gilles and Shawn, respectively?? I’ll be kinda pissed. Give Cheryl Drew since he’s been away for a while and put Mark back with Bristol. That said…can Shawn or Gilles win against the likes of Helio or Apolo?? I doubt it. Even without Julianne, those are two very likable dudes.

Not too happy about Kirstie and Bristol… It’s also weird to see that many winners actually coming back…I don’t know how I feel about this cast just yet ! Some are exciting, some others not so much..
Can’t wait to see the pro pairings though, especially since there are so many of Cheryl’s old partners…

This is…strange, IMO. So many winners! I can’t believe Shawn is back. While I am excited to see Drew and Kelly dance because I haven’t before, I just can’t get behind a former winner winning again, no matter who their partner is. And my luck Cheryl will get Gilles, and I’ll have to root for her. I am going to definitely be behind Melissa for the ladies. I hope she doesn’t get Tony again. With this cast, she might have a long road ahead of her. She needs Derek or Tristan.
Did they announce how long we vote on either Carson, Kyle or Sabrina? That is going to be a competition in itself, I think Carson and Kyle are super popular, and I think the Sabrina fans are pretty intensely set on her being on.
Okay, when do we get to find out the pairings??
Bristol and Kirstie runs on DWTS were 2 of the most talked about ever. They deserve to be on an all star season just as much as Pamela Anderson who was almost voted off the first week of her season.
Besides, in a cast this good, no way Kirstie or Bristol will be seeing the halfway point.
I LOVE this cast. Just the right mix of good dancers, big names, and controversial figures. And my 4 favorite guys ever- Apolo, Gilles, Drew, and Helio!!

OMG, I’m loving them all but Bristol!!!! Why Bristol? Why? Oh well, she’ll make excellent Cheescake.
not the worst cast…by far not the best…but…i like most of them…no old partner of Derek’s…hm…Kelly did say she would love to dance with him…but i guess we will see..considering that there are so many stars that danced with one pro…Cheryl for example..and so many stars that danced with a pro that is not on the show any more..seems only logical that they won’t keep the old partnerships…i HOPE! but…when was EVER abc logical?? so…expecting the worst…would Kirstie dance with someone else besides Maks? if giving the choice…who would Cheryl pick between her winner and her runner up…tough one..considering that she is only after that 4th MBT .. when will the pairings be announced? do we know?
I am disappointed. I didn’t want to see ANY previous winners.
I just hope that Gilles won’t end up with Peta, I really don’t like her.

The only two I don’t like are Kirstie and Bristol.

Woah I was certainly caught off gaurd!! But what an amazing cast though!! WOW! I love them all except for Kelly Monaco and its going to be so hard to decide who to vote on but I think im gonna go with Sabrina based on the sheer fact that Kyle has NOTHING else to prove even though he would be a blast. Where its tricky for me is between Carson and Sabrina but just based on what a sucky outcome season 5 had for her I really wanna see her go all the way.
I am quite pleased. I figured we would get a lot of characters instead of good dancers….but we got mostly really good dancers. Yeah I am not thrilled that so many are winners, even though I like them, but I would rather have good dancers/former winners than 10 Bristols!
They have to do all new pairings, it just wouldn’t be fair otherwise. It will be so weird to see them all with different partners! And shocked non of Derek’s are back, but I am glad too, I couldn’t picture any of his former celebs without him!
Overall pretty happy. These are names that appeared on a lot of all star wish lists before. Will be interesting to see Helio and Apolo without Julianne. I felt she was a big part of their popularity. Derek will get a new partner no matter what which will be fun. I am guessing Tristan fans will be happy. If he is on, no crying he gets old ladies. I can see him with Pamela. I also think Melissa will be wasted on Tony. His choreo even with ringers is a bit dull.
This is Sasha’s best chance to be on the show since he is a tumbler and would fit well with Shawn height and tumbling wise, lol.
I look forward to seeing the new pairings. Bristol is the only bad one on the list but she has nothing else to do which makes her sadly available for all stars. Wish they put in Mya instead. Since Mark loved his pairing with Bristol, put them together.
Cheryl will be on Extra talking about the cast and heard Derek will be on Access Hollywood on Monday.
KIRSTIE ALLEY YAY YAY YAY Could not be happier!!!!!
Surprised that none of Derek’s partners are back. I was for sure Maria might come back. If Derek gets Shawn I’d be happy! but if he got Bristol or Kristie I will be so mad!
Anybody else think they’re promoting Sasha to partner Shawn? Even Mark towered over her – I can’t seriously see her dancing with Louis or Derek, next shortest.
I’m actually glad they brought in so many winners – if you’re gonna include then, at least include a bunch to even out the odds. Except for Apolo. I just really can’t stand Apolo.

Well, I think it’d be a hoot to see Kyle on with Bristol, seeing as he’s suing her.
But… that being said, I honestly can see Derek with Kelly in my mind’s eye. Physically well matched. But I’d love to see him work with Bristol.

My guess is that a lot of the top girls like Jennifer Grey, Nicole S, Mel B, Mya, Erin, and Stacey K said no so I think they probably got the best girls they could. With all the former winners back I am surprised Kristi was not asked back. Perhaps she said no as well.
I can actually some decent dancing coming out of this season. I’m glad they didn’t bring back people from the last two seasons and even though Joey, Kyle, Sabrina, & Carson all did the Vegas show it’s still not competition style dancing they did. I’m really excited by this cast and kinda shocked they brought back the entire top 3 of season 8. Go Team Season 8!
I’m disappionted that Carson didn’t get askked back. Darn it. I think he’s so very entertaining. would love to just sit on the paito with him someday and just chat. Or better yet….go shopping!
These are who TPTB considered All Stars??? With some exceptions, these are the ones who have nothing else to do right now, so let’s dance.
Can definitely do without Bristol! Her name and star don’t even belong in the same sentence.
Can also do without Pam and Kirstie.
The guys are OK, but I don’t know how Emmitt will keep up with the others.
I have a slight problem with the “stars” from the Vegas show. They should have been considered semi-pros and not eligible. They have too much experience now.
Have to say – it’s disappointing, but not unexpected. TPTB sure know how to “please” the fans!
And with the possibility that it is Derek’s last season, it will probably be the last season I really care about the show. I can then delete all my e-mail accounts for voting.
Heidi, I agree with your ETA about if Cheryl and Mark get Gilles and Shawn. Especially because they were both JUST in the finals in season 13. And Cheryl was there in season 12, too. It will seriously tick me off.

Wow … on the surface, it appears the women will be a lot weaker than the men. Shawn and maybe Melissa are definitely the strongest women and it’s a toss up among the men. Helio and Apolo are very popular – as is Emmitt – but against Gilles on the dance floor … I say Gilles. Pairings should be interesting. Wonder what happened to Mel B?
I have to say I am happy with the cast except for the obvious. WHY is Bristol Palin back? I cannot believe that there weren’t others that wanted to come back and were passed over for her. Why wasn’t Kyle Massey on the list to dance and her on the list to vote on. So wrong. My only hope is that she’s voted off right away. I cannot imagine having to deal with her all the way through again.
I’d actually like to see what Derek could do with Bristol too, except for the fact that it would be a short season for Derek. Gotta get as much as I can of him if it’s his last season.
Cheryl is going to be on Ryan Seacrest’s radio show on Monday. And interestingly enough, both Apolo and Shawn are in London working with NBC for the Olympics, as is Ryan…. Might be possible to have both of them in to talk about DWTS All Stars…..
Of course these are All-Stars! 6 past winners and 3 runners-up. It might not be MY favorite stars, but…
Okay cast, except for PAILIN. Just do not understand that one. And over SABRINA…why was PAILIN not in the “voting-for” section at least.
AND REALLY SURPRISING…nobody coming back to dance with DEREK like Joanna Krupa or Brooke Burke herself. That may be the most surprising one of all. My guess is that he gets KELLY M. b/c I doubt Alex/Edyta come back after their salary dispute of the past couple of seasons.
But I would love to see EDYTA back.
If I had been partnered with Derek, and wasn’t guaranteed dancing with him again, I wouldn’t do it again, either. Why go from the best to not the best? I hope he gets Shawn. He’s never had an athlete, and since it’s his last season I would love to see what he could do with her. It won’t be Kirstie because she’s too tall. I feel bad for whoever gets Bristol. They may put her with a new pro, hopefully not Tristan. Would love to see Gilles with Anna.
This could be very interesting. I look forward to seeing how some of the stars interact with new pros. A lot of the appeal of some of them were their partnerships. New partnerships could change the entire dynamic.
When I saw the list my first thought was a guy will win this year. Personality wise the men have this and then dance skills. Not happy about Bristol. If they bring in any troupe members they should have to deal with Bristol. Maybe Louis wants back so bad he will take Bristol.
Okay, overall I actually have to say I am VERY pleased with the cast, much more than I expected. There is only one dud, and it’s a huge dud. Pretty sure I don’t even have to say.
Pamela- I’m going to LOVE seeing Pamela back. I don’t think she’ll last that long really, but it’ll be nice seeing her back nonetheless.
Kelly-Well I can’t say I have any objections. She seems really excited and like she wants to do it. So why not? I say good luck to her!
Melissa- Loved Melissa. She’s going to get bashed by a lot of jealous women though, she’s in trouble against the guys.
Shawn- I’m actually most excited for Shawn out of the ladies
I can actually see myself voting for her most likely.
Kirstie- I adore Kirstie too, good luck to her! She alwyas brought spunk and fun, so why not?
Joey- I remember really liking Joey so sure!
Helio- One of my favorite guy celebrities! A great sport, good dancer, and so much joy! Whoo!
Drew- Again, like Kelly I’m not against him doing the show at all, just don’t have much to say. Good luck to him!
Emmitt- I really liked Emmitt, but he’s not a favorite of mine. Hope he does well though!
Apolo- I really liked Apolo too, but like Emmitt can’t say I loved him.
Gilles- Ecstatic about this one

Bristol-…..Four words: WHAT. THE. FLIPPING. FUDGE? Not surprised at all, but really upset.
Sabrina, Carson, or Kyle- Hard time for me on who I want most. If it was on personality alone I would say Carson in a heartbeat. But let’s face it, he wouldn’t stand a chance. I liked Kyle, but he is a little overrated IMO and he occasionally annoyed me. Sabrina is the best dancer out of the three, but I don’t find as much joy watching her as much as Kyle and Carson. I don’t know, hard choice for me.
I have a feeling that Kelly asked for Derek and that’s how they got her back on the show, considering her attitude last time she was there.
Are Bristol and Melissa still stars? The ladies are almost a complete disappointment. The only one I’m really excited to see is Kelly, but that’s probably because I’ve never been able to see season 1. So, there’s some intrigue to see how she does.
The men definitely take this one. A lot of really interesting, likable characters.
Ugh, Bristol. Personally I didn’t care for Kirstie but she has a good fan base is not that bad a dancer and brings a lot of personality to the show so I don’t mind her too much.
I’m voting for Sabrina. She and Kyle are the best dancers of the three and I think she got a raw deal the first time around.
That said I really didn’t want any winners but since that’s how it worked out I thnk this is an overall good cast execpt for Pamela (and of course Birstol) but she was on a South American version one so maybe she improved.
Hm nobody from seasons 6, 7, 9 and 13 could do it? Who would have you chosen from those seasons. Season 14 I can understand people wanting their life back.
I also saw John missing from the list. I felt he was such a sore loser to Kellh on season one so happy he is not on the all star season.
Tough deciding who is the front runner. On the women side, feel Shawn has a huge following. Kirstie is popular with the show’s demo. The show is overestaimating IMO Bristol’s appeal. The Palins fan base is not what it was in 2010 and I agree she was helped by a lot of judges propping her score wise.
I agree Evaine, get Kyle on the show for some fun. But chances are, since he is suing her, someone, somehow will tell him he shouldn’t do the show because of the lawsuit.
Well, Cindy, he’s already up for voting on to get that last spot, so I think that advice might come a bit late.

I’m very, very upset at the cast list.
First of all, half of the official cast is winners and that makes me mad. 4 of the 6 men are previous winners.
They stacked the men so much. Gilles, Joey, Drew, Apolo, Helio, and Emmitt all have either huge fan bases and/or dance skill.
Then we have Bristol, Kirstie, Kelly, and Pam who are all good dancers at best and 2 great females in Shawn and Melissa.
Even is Sabrina gets in, (and you better believe i’m voting every day for her), one of the men will still win.
Such a disappointment. They got so lazy on the females. They should’ve made Sabrina official and put Bristol in the vote.
Sabrina doesn’t stand a chance in this group, even if she gets voted in.
I don’t want to see Bristol paired with Tristan. After two years, he deserves to be given someone better than what he’s had. No offense at all to Nancy Grace or Gladys Knight, but I want to see him with someone that gives him the opportunity to show more of what he can do and go farther in the competition. And that wouldn’t be Bristol.

John, Melissa has a new memoir out which I am sure will want to promote. Yeah I do not see her or Bristol as stars either. Not then or now.
I never thought of it but Derek and Shawn would be great to see because he has never had an athlete. But it is stacked with men.
Though would not surprise me if Kelly asked for Derek. She was their first winner and think she will have a better attitude.
Now while not Sabrina paired with Derek, they fact she was not atomically included to all stars might make her fans head explode abit. I am curious how the pairings will go. Will they wait for the fan vote?
great cast. it sucks that only one of the 3 gets on though. I love all 3 of those and want them all on =(
I would have prefered not having any past season winners.. So that everyone has the same chances (because the winners are “the best dancers” from their respective season)
All in all, I must say they’ve done a great job. Better than I had expected. This cast brings something for just about everyone in spectatorland. The only cast member that I could definitely do without is Bristol Palin -it’s a political year so her fan base is already primed for voting, so let’s see if that fan base can keep her in for as long as they did before now that we’ve got an all-star cast. But there’s something for everyone here, and that’s what the producers aim for. It’ll also be interesting to see how Kirstie dances/moves now that she’s svelte (even though she’s still 61 or 62 and will obviously still have certain physical limitations due to age). Again, she’ll be the oldest cast member.
I’m voting for Sabrina, this is her time for revenge and redemption!
Ugh Jesus, Mary and Joseph…..not frickin Palin again!! This is utterly disappointing. I’ll need Kressley or Massey to be able to deal with this successfully! Lol
Honestly, while I can understand people not wanting past winners, I’m actually not that bothered by it. I do think the guys are pretty stacked up, but I actually love a good chunk of the cast, and I at least like everyone except Bristol.
I would prefer either Carson or Sabrina to Kyle myself. Carson because of the goofiness and Sabrina for bring more balance to the girls side.

Great male cast. Not sure how I feel about the women cast at all.
With all of the past male winners coming back, you’d think they would have just made it a champion season-guess it would have been awful tough to compete with the female champions like Nicole, Jennifer or Kristi-LOL dance wise anyway.
Overall I like the guys and Pamela! Interesting to see how they will be partnered.

Would have preferred *no* previous winners, but since they decided to go that route, I’m glad they got so many.

No, No, and No! *stomps foot* Thoroughly nauseated at the thought of having that prig back. I’m switching channels when she’s on — and If they *dare* pair her with Tristan, I’m going to throw a tantrum like nobody’s seen before.

i have a funny feeling Kelly will be with Derek…same as usual…hot, younger, girl…she is tiny- both in height in frame…that is what they look for with Derek. I think they will give Bristol to a newer pro- one who still has to earn the dues…they know this is derek’s last season…i think he will get Kelly or Shawn…but again it looks like it will be a mirror ball for the girl pros/guy celebrities to win!
A lot of the past female celebs have had the uptick in their careers that, I guess, was a primary motivating factor for doing DWTS in the first place. So perhaps it was more difficult to get some of the better past female celebs due to their busy schedules or just not needing to do the show again. A lot of the all-star men are athletes who are now retired or their sport will be on a break, so they have greater flexibility to do the show and they can always use the free publicity.
I think Kyle is the only one of the three that has a snowballs chance in hell of making it with this group of dancers. These guys are gonna be tough, especially Helio and Apolo and Gilles. Most of women will just be filler for the show and probably will drop fairly quick. Sorry Pamela!
The men have this one. Bummed Evan Lysacek isn’t on but Im excited to see him kill it in the Winter Olympics! I’m either going to vote for Kyle or Carson, I don’t know which, maybe I’ll split votes. Probaly not a good idea, but I want both of them on.
I think people keep forgetting that Kirstie has not stopped dancing since her time on the show ended, she could end up being better than she’s being given credit for.
I love Carson, but they need to hire him to be part of the cast, not a dancer. He still wouldn’t last long, especially with this group of celebs.

Not sure how they will handle announcing the pro for the fans choice, since the show could need a guy pro or a girl pro. They might just say nothing until the star is announced on Aug 27.

I only started watching on season 11, so I’m excited to see everyone except Kirstie, Bristol, Kyle and Carson… my vote goes to Sabrina, wouldn’t mind either Kyle or Carson though.
As a brazilian, I think I’ll be biased and root for Helio! I just hope they won’t pair him with Cheryl.
My guess is whoever gets Derek – Kelly, Bristol or Melissa is whoever TPTB want to keep around longer. IMO, Derek has a stronger fan base than any of those three.
Maria was great after working with Derek, but in her first two weeks it was definitely Derek’s fans that kept her in until she was able to prove herself.
How will they announce pro pairing if voting for the 13th celeb (sounds like a movie title) closes after the announcement? Wondering if just one male and female pro will be left out on Aug. 13th until the votes are counted?
Very interesting cast! I do hope they shake up the partnerships, although with some of them, I can see them not changing them. If Tony just found out he was on, I can only see them pairing him up with Melissa. If not, they’ll switch it up and give him Kirstie. (height wise he’s really the only one if Kirstie doesn’t get Maks)

Based on the campaign videos: my vote would be for carson, the other 2 videos sucked
The women leave me cold and I don’t know how any of them could beat the guy lineup. Hope all switch partners.

I too would have preferred NO winners in the line up, but OK, no biggie.
It looks like they tried to get someone from every season, too bad they didn’t succeed. There are several from seasons 6 (Warren & Lance), 7 (Kelly O & Aaron) and 9 (David Arquette & Chynna) that I would have preferred over some on this list.
I do agree that those celebs dancing in Las Vegas really should not be qualified as their almost professionals by now. However, I think that’s only Sabrina and Kyle, right? So maybe Carson will get voted in and it’s a moot point?
It will be interesting to see how the pairings go – only 2 weeks to wait. I have a feeling – like most everyone here – that it will be Kelly Monaco and Derek, although I wish they would pair Derek with Shawn or Bristol. I only hope and wish that TPTB will give EVERYone a new partner, that’ s only fair, right? (except for maybe Carson, I can’t see him with anyone but Anna, which is kinda unfair to her).
But hey, the show has never ever been about fair. Regardless, I will be tuning in every Monday/Tuesday nights, just like I always do LOL
The biggest question with this cast is whether the judges will ‘prop’ some of the stars (ala Kristie and Bristol), as that is how they got as far as they did the first time around. The talent level is REALLY high and all those from the first few seasons where the first few weeks were all about 15-20 in total points will be loving the 9-9-9′s of the new judges.
Mildly disappointed in the three to vote for – thought they’d have a better selection of dancers there…or at least a story to promote (disney stars, athletes, etc).
Yeah, Kristin, I’m sure that both Jennifer and Ricki appreciate you calling them hot and Young. Unfortunately, in reality they kinda spoil your theory.
Mel, this has nothing to do with fan favorites. It has to do with the best cast they could actually assemble. I predicted a while ago that none of Derek’s partners would be back just because they all seem to be doing well, career wise.
Totally agree with Steph, and I think that’s also why none of Derek’s partners are on.
I’m crossing my fingers and toes that he gets Shawn! It’s his last season so I want it to be strong for him and also he’s NEVER had an athlete before! They’ve always been my dream team and this would be the perfect way to end his run. They would be amazing together.
I also feel like most of the other girls will be quickly. The guys side is stacked.
Yup, I’m disappointed that Bristol’s back, not because I hated her on her season but because there were way better choices out there, other than her! I don’t think any previous pro will get their past partners, it would give the pairing a possible “unfair advantage” over those not paired with their previous partners. I’ve got a sneaking feeling they’ll pair Bristol with Derek, since he’s got a great fan base (and there’s rumor’s it’s possibly his last season), which I think will bode well for her hanging around far longer than she should, as in the past. Mind you, I’m SOOO hoping I’m wrong, I’d feel TPTB were really manipulating the situation (I’d rather see him paired with Shawn or Sabrina, if she get’s voted in)! I have to say, I think Kym & Gilles would make a very HOT pairing, they’d look beauuuutiful together! Initially, I was rather let down with the cast but I guess we’ll just have to see how it all comes to pass.
I think it more likely that Bristol is a famewhore, John, and DWTS needed a lightning rod. She’s all that without the political angle.
William refused to do it again and i bet he is another partner of Cheryl they would love to bring back. Cheryl has a great legacy on dwts and cannot deny seeing these people they brought back is a testament of Cheryl’s greatness and ability to make these guys relatable. Mark has few as well, but not as likeables as Cheryl’s previous pairings.I saw a photo of Cheryl on extra backstage and she looked distraught after hearing the cast.Those 3 boys bout to come back are whom she most personally loved and respected partners and some of theviewers most lovedcelebrities ever graced on the show. It will be very depressing for her to see these guys with other pros.
Shawn was too short for Mark so she’d be REALLY too short for Derek. With our current roster, though, Shawn pretty much has to have Derek, Mark or Val. Unless they bring Louis back, then he would be the shortest. But I don’t see that happening.
Helio and Apolo without Julianne won’t have the same impact that Cheryl has to face.
I was actually just talking about the same thing with Donna, Heidi. While Derek would indeed be too tall for Shawn, she at least is only a tad shorter than Kim was, and look how beautifully that went.
Plus, like you said, I can’t see Shawn with Val at all, that pairing would make little to no sense. And if they’re switching up the partners (which they should do) then that means no Mark. That leaves Derek. There is the possibility of Sasha coming in or Louis coming back, but I see her being with Derek as fairly likely if they don’t already pair him with Kelly.
Interesting that all of the male celebs are season 8 or earlier, but all of the female celebs except Kelly are season 8 or later. And no one from seasons 6, 7, or 9.
I too think that many of Derek’s partners didn’t have time to do it again, didn’t want to do it again (like if they won), or didn’t want to do it again without him!
I don’t think they will give him Bristol. That would be awful of them on his last season. I think he’ll get Kelly or Shawn.

@Heidi – Louis and Bristol…. LOL Actually that is a perfect pairing. I think Shawn will have Val, Kelly is 5’3′ so I am not sure which pro she will have, but I don’t think she will stick around very long even with Derek. This male cast is a powerhouse!!

Out of the 3 vote ins, I agree Sabrina SHOULD be on the list and if they HAD to include Bristol, make her a “vote in” but I’m sure TPTB wanted Bristol in for sure to “get ratings”.
Pamela Anderson is back?!!?? YEE-HAW!!! I loved her in Season 10, and hope she does better. I worry for Kirstie’s stay because compared to the others on this list, she was very inconsistent with her dancing (as much as I LOVED her) and isn’t Melissa Rycroft a contributor for GMA now? Glad she’s back too.

I like all the pairings everyone is predicting especially Apolo and Chelsie! Curious if any of the troupe will be promoted to pros. I could see Sasha with Shawn and Sharna with Gilles or Joey. If the producers want to add some controversy to Bristol being on show then pair her with Louie.
Yeah, Matt, I don’t think they will wait to see who wins the vote and will pair Mark with Shawn. I think Bristol will go to someone else – probably Tristan, since Kelly was blabbing about Derek. So, which male is going to have to wait to see if he’s actually on?
I just don’t see Shawn or Bristol with Derek, for the same reasons they weren’t with him the first time – they’re too young and he has a tendency to be too intense. Pairing him with Kelly could result in fireworks – the good kind.
Derek has a reasonably solid pattern in women who are older than him – often married mommies. But he’s never had an athlete or someone younger than him. He’s never had someone younger than 30 or 31, as I recall. There is a reason for that.
It’s entirely possible that so many good men may cancel each other out.

I agree that it looks like the men will rule this season. It will be interesting to see people with new partners – some will probably be surprisingly good and some not so good.
The only silver lining I can summon on the Bristol issue is that I hope this time around she is scored accurately. Since this is All-Stars, I will assume that they will score hard from the get go. So there might be some satisfying justice in that.
I really hope she does not get partnered with Tristan – I almost hope she gets someone like Maks who will tell her what’s what.
Overall, I am excited about this season!

Heidi, it too just crossed my mind that many of the men may cancel each other out, because I imagine their share some similar fan bases.
Of the men, I think Helio will be out first, I don’t think the fan base is their anymore and he was a rather overscored dancer.
But of the vote in, I honestly think that without bias, Sabrina’s fans are more likely to powervote the entire month than Carson or Kyle’s fans.

@Heidi – Very interesting about Mark and Shawn. I wouldn’t have thought that they would pair any of the winning partners together again. I would think their only option is to split every original pair up. It just would seem so wrong on all levels.
If three of Mark’s former partners are on the show, they may not have a choice. When you consider heights of the various male and female pros, they’re going to be somewhat limited.

Has it been explained anywhere why Carson, Kyle, and Sabrina were the 3 particular celebrities designated to the vote-off? I don’t see a clear commonality beween these three former contestants…
Also, isn’t it a bit of an insult to them that the rest of the members of the all-star cast were added automatically, whereas they have to “compete” for the final spot? Especially when all 3 of them were pretty eager to return in the first place.

Honestly the only men I could see winning would be Gilles, Apolo, and Joey. The other 3 men even thought they won (Helio, Drew, Emmitt) just were good dancers that lucked out in their seasons.
Shawn and Melissa will be the female standouts, and Sabrina too if she’s voted in. Kirstie may have even improved since her season seeing as she’s slimmed down and not stopped dancing.
Tristan doesn’t deserve Bristol. Give her back to Mark. It would be nice to see Tristan make it farther in the season and that won’t happen with her. He’s paid his dues, he should be given a better chance.
Is Drew the shortest of the men? If so, he may be the one partnered with Chelsie. Totally could see Peta with Gilles.

Wow, I’m very pleasantly surprised at the line-up, except for BP (yuck). I’m really looking forward to seeing how Apolo and Helio do without Julianne. Shawn will be fun to watch,especially if she makes it to the free-style and throws in some gymnastics moves but I read she has a bad knee now so she may have to be careful. I’m happy that Derek is returning, even though its his final season, and I hope he gets a partner he can take to at least the finals, so we can enjoy his performances for several weeks. If he gets BP….oh, I can’t even go there, it would be too awful. Thanks to the Pure folks for such a wonderful site!

About the pros that have been listed…………. It is mentioned there, that the pros listed are still all the pros that danced last season. So, they haven’t changed the list of pros yet.
Therefore, I think we need to consider that any pro is up for consideration. And, we need to remember Maks, who said that there are new and old pros…….
And seeing the line up makes me think we need a “Remember this” post, with one dance from each person on the All Stars… With a separate one for the 3 we’re voting for…. (and I know I can’t even think about starting this until Monday, earliest)
#22—No past winners??? All-stars is supposed to be the best of the best (for example–think of sports when players are selected to a team). With that said, Lopez was asked and turned it down, a JR fan said she asked him at an event and he said he wasn’t asked (rumor going around they didn’t want anyone from the past 2 seasons–it would seem “unfair”–who knows?) Aaron Carter wanted to do it, and Ralph wasn’t asked and said he wouldn’t do it anyway—they were KS’s only decent partners. IMHO, Evan was Anna’s only decent one and he’s in training.

Drew is listed as 5’6 from what I found. Cheryl, his first partner is 5″4. Chelsie is 5’2 and Lacey is 5’3. I’d prefer Chelsie with Apolo (5″8) though.
See I don’t see Apolo and Chelsie at all. Chelsie is sweet and all, but in my opinion her choreography is somewhat lackluster and at the end of the night I barely remember her and whomever is her partner. She doesn’t seem tough enough. Apolo needs someone like Karina who will push him to his limit, I think she is the best female pro on the show. Hands down!

Chelsie is sweet as a person, but as a teacher she can be tough without being mean/rude like some other pros can be at times. I agree that her choreography is not her strong point. IMO, she is one of the better technical teachers in the group. I need to watch some of Drew past dances so I can picture them together. I think Drew and Chelsie would mesh well personality wise.
If tptb want Bristol to stick around longer than week one then they will probably put her with Tristan…which I will completely hate…however Tristan’s fans will keep him, not her around for as long as possible. That would really suck but I wouldn’t put it past the “little men and women behind the scenes” to be conniving like that. I hope and pray that she goes fast…sorry Tris

The ONLY way this works out for him to dance with Sabrina is if everyone is lying – that the voting will be abruptly ended the day the partners are announced AND all three people being voted for will be dancing. That’s the only way.

I wondered how Shawn’s injury is going to come into play in the all stars…. Not sure she can do the jumps like she did back when she won. Even then, she basically won because Cheryl blew it in the freestyle. That was the closest percentage wise when Shawn won.
I look for Apolo to step it up and win. He seems like a really competitive person.
@Winter #169 – I’m not even remotely an expert in gymnastics or dancing, but seems to me that an injury that would cause Shawn to retire from Olympic-level gymnastics wouldn’t necessarily be so debilitating that she couldn’t “bring it” on DWTS. That little fire-plug is one tough cookie! I’d love to see her with Derek. With his genius choreo and her work ethic and coachability, I bet they’d be dynamite.
