More Great Interviews With New All Star Cast of Dancing With The Stars (Must See Videos)
We have some more fun interviews to share that took place last week after the cast announcement. First see an interview with Drew Lachey, Melissa Rycroft, Kelly Monaco, Gilles Marini, Helio Castroneves, Bristol Palin, and Pamela Anderson at E Online (thanks to Gitte for sending). Drew says he’s in good hands for whoever he gets. Melissa is excited to see her former cast friends. Pamela is ready for anything. Gilles doesn’t plan to take his shirt off (too funny how he comments!). Kelly will be doing her homework. Helio says at the end of day, they are all going to have a great time. Everybody and their brother here knows that I’m not a Derek cheerleader, but I think if they give him Shawn Johnson that he has this season more or less in the bag. I almost can’t think of a partner better suited for him. Mentally tough, astonishingly physically capable, very popular, and old enough now to deal with the dances that threw her last time. (Rumba, Salsa, Paso, Samba.)
Heidi, do you think Shawn is Derek’s ideal match in terms of him having the best shot at the MBT this season?
I think Derek can win with a few different ladies. Definitely Shawn and Kelly, the 2 past female winners. I think he can also possibly win with Melissa, though I don’t know about her fan base. I mean what has she been doing lately??????? I think that even if he gets Bristol, he can get her to the finals, but they probably wouldn’t win.
I agree in thinking Derek would have it in the bag if he was paired with Shawn… which is a reason I hope he doesn’t get Shawn. Not that I don’t want him to have a chance at another MBT, I just don’t want it to be a foregone conclusion who wins. I think Melissa would be a great partner for him – great dance ability (I would argue she’s a better dancer than Shawn) but not as big of a fanbase as Shawn, so a Melissa/Derek pairing would have the POTENTIAL to win, but not be shoe-ins to win. I want this season to be as competitive as possible.
Anyoneh as he potential to win but I think Derek might have a tad bit of an advantage. He had such a stellar season with Maria and I think that if this is indeed his last season or swan songl ike he said, he wants to end with a bang and win the trophy on his way out. Its funny to me though becuase I always thought Mark woudl be the first one to go out of that little group (julianne, derek, mark, and karina).
@ Vin: Why do you call Karina part of “that group”? She’s a lot older, totally different generation of dancer. Is there some relationship I don’t know about?
I also would not pair Karina with Mark, Julianne, Derek. Is it because she was taught by Mark’s parents? I thought many of the pros were at some point taught by Corky and Shirley Ballas, but I could be wrong.
Also, Julianne is already gone, so neither Mark nor Derek would be the first to leave. Not to mention I think Mark might be there until they kick him out.
Steve, I don’t actually believe Derek has a shot at the MBT this season. None of the male pros do. That sucker is going to a female. Likely Cheryl, which makes me rather ill, actually.
Vogue, I agree with you. The thoughtful answers to the questions in the Access interviews definitely have me looking forward to the All-Star Season.
These celebs definitely have a different take on the show than first-timers. They all know what’s involved and have agreed to put in the hard work again. That should lead to good camaraderie within the cast as well as a competitive season.
@Steve: She is very close with them (kinda like Peta is with Val and Maks and that group).
So true Cidra, you can tell this isn’t their first rodeo. The only one so far that seems to have some major insecurities is Melissa.
The interviewer from Access Hollywood asked great questions and was very respectful to all the contestants. Great job!
@Heidi – I agree with you, A lady pro probably will take the MBT this season. My gut feeling is that everyone will have new partners and Cheryl by process of elimination will have Apolo.
Helio is just as sweet as ever. I love him.

Pardon me Ranae, where do you see hate for Cheryl? Please stick to the topic. If you can’t and you don’t have more to say, you won’t find yourself lasting here long.
It seems like everyone will have all new partners so no one will have an edge that way. Hope the judges score fairly and consistently this season and if an unpopular celeb dances really well the votes reflect the dance. I’m thinking producers will match less popular celebs with more popular pros to even things out. Giving the pro a personality or age they arenot used to would be a good challenge.
I would love to see Karina get her first NFL Player its strange that she is around the same height as Anna and Cheryl and still never got 1 and we know she can really crack the whip with one so I think that would be interesting to watch
