See More Couples Dancing In DWTS All Star Title Shoots Part 3 (Videos)
On The Red Carpet has posted more videos of the couples dancing in their Title Shoots. Yesterday in a previous posting we saw Kym & Joey, Anna & Drew, Helio & Chelsie, Gilles and Peta, Val & Kelly, Derek & Shawn at Pure Derek Hough, and Pam & Tristan. Today we get to see Apolo (sorry, no Karina), Bristol & Mark, Emmitt & Cheryl, and Tony & Melissa. Looking good. What do you think?

I dont kno why but Cheryl doesnt seem to be happy with Emmitt at all i dont know why…she always gushes about how much fun she had with him maybe he came in late and the producers ended up pairing him with Cheryl at the last minute but she doesnt look happy at allll…cant wait to see them later on in september…come on Cheryl cheer up Emmitt has a big fanbase ether that or dont make it look so obvious he helped you to be the first person to win to throthys back to back
Cheryl’s upset because she didn’t get Gilles. Kind of a no-brainer, considering how much she gushed about wanting to partner w/Gilles again prior to the cast announcement & couples annoucement.
I agree with Courtney. Plus, if she think Gilles is a “front-runner”, she’s not likin’ current reigning champ, Peta getting a really good shot at MBT #2 so soon. JMHO
Is Cheryl upset or is she copping a big head again this season…or BOTH?
I haven’t watched the videos and after ready y’all’s comments I don’t really want to! Cheryl seems to be driving a bigger and bigger wedge between herself and the fans every day. I used to love her, back in the early seasons…now, not at all. I want her off my tv screen as quick as possible this season.
I have a serious dancer-buddy in Philly who met Cheryl and Anna fairly recently when they were at some dance event at a city arts festival.
His comment: “Anna is exactly as sweet as you’d think she is. And Cheryl is exactly as much of a **** as you’d think she is.”
I don’t know what’s going on with Cheryl, but it’s disappointing.
Sounds like your friend’s opinions of both ladies are about right on-par with what my bf says, Steve – he really respects Anna and says she’s very professional and easy to work with; all he has to say about Cheryl is that she’s a “chain-smoking C U Next Tuesday” since the only thing she said to him when they were introduced was “Do you have a lighter?” and when he answered no, she got flustered and walked off.
From watching that video, I didn’t really get the impression that Cheryl was upset to have Emmitt as a partner but, if I was Cheryl … I would be beyond disappointed not to have Gllles. I was looking forward to seeing the two of them dance and was actually surprised they weren’t paired together again. Basically, I think because the height of the male celebs proved to be a difficult matchup, Peta got Gilles and was handed a ticket to the finale.
While I don’t dislike Cheryl, she has never been one of my favorite pros. That sort of changed for me when a couple of months ago, I found myself on the same flight with her and she could not have been nicer. I was sitting across the aisle from her and during the flight, a young girl approached her, asked for an autograph, and said she wanted to be a dancer. Cheryl was so sweet and talked to her for a long time. I log tons of miles and have seen a lot of so called celebrities snub fans, including kids. So, to see Cheryl react like she did went a long way toward changing my opinion of her.
I still can’t see Karina and Apolo together but you never know. Chemistry works in strange ways
No comment on Mark and Bristol but wishing he would have been paired with Sabrina.
I know everyone seems to think that getting Gilles has given Peta a ticket straight to the finale – but I’ve said it before: I’m not sold on Peta yet, and I’m wondering if diehard Gilles & Cheryl fans are going to be reluctant to vote for the “other woman” that broke them up, so to speak. Ditto for any other beloved couples that got broken up – are their fans from their original season still going to vote for them with a new partner? Any other season, I’d say that Gilles & Peta would be a shoo-in for the finale – but I think between Shawn, Apolo, Joey, Drew, & Kirstie in particular, it’s entirely possible that they could get edged out if they have just one off-week…plus I don’t think Peta is truly battle-tested yet. Her choreography with Donald was good, but I didn’t think it was great or particularly mind-blowing & creative – and I think all of the pros are going to have to pull out their most genius stuff this season to remain relevant & memorable week after week. Can Peta do it? We’ll see.
If, however, Gilles just happens to be a fantastic dancer & hard worker again this season and Peta coasts through to the finale without having to really break a sweat or come up with anything truly creative, I think I might have to put Peta on my “overrated” list – because I think all of the multiple-time champs we have on DWTS (Cheryl, Mark, Derek, Julianne, & Kym) have all choreographed some pretty cool (and MBT-worthy) stuff during the seasons they won…and anyone that wins the same # of trophies doing just so-so choreography with a gifted, hard-working partner just isn’t in the same league. Sorry, guess I’m just a Peta Pessimist
I surely don’t think Gilles & Peta will win the competition and even reach the finale. I’m a big fan of Gilles but I don’t like Peta, so if Peta don’t give him amazing choreography with real dancing (sure Donal did great lifts, but that’s all I can remember), my votes will go to Pam & Tristan, Drew & Anna and Shawn & Derek.
I really wish to be wrong, that they will have an amazing chemistry and awesome dances and that I will come to love Peta and see them winning the MBT, but I doubt it.
Courtney – I think you hit the nail on the head. I enjoyed watching Donald and admittedly wanted him to make it to the end….but I remember thinking the majority of Peta’s wow moments had more to do with her flexibility and itty bitty costumes than amazing choreography. Guess we’ll have to see. Will be interested to see how Gilles and Peta compliment each other.
I think fame has gotten to Cheryl’s head. I don’t think she’s even that great of a dancer anymore like she used to be. I remember my local radio station interviewed her and she sounded very uninterested and didn’t want to be interviewed and the hosts pretty much thought she was a B after the interview.
As for Gilles, I thought he would be a front runner, but not that I see these interviews and the chemistry between Peta and him, I am starting to have my doubts. I don’t think Peta’s choreography is particularly strong yet and I feel that Gilles is taking the competition so seriously, that might hinder him since a lot of the other couples are competitive but also are focused on having fun too. Gilles just seems to only think about the work and not the relax and have fun aspect that would make him more personable.
I would have to agree with Courtney – I really like Peta, and I liked her with Donald, but like Tristan, we haven’t seen what she’s got yet. Is she on the same levels as Derek, Julianne, Cheryl, Mark and Kym??? Can she be handed “futuristic Paso” or “Psycho” and just knock it out of the freakin’ park with someone who isn’t even that great a dancer?? Jury is out. Neither she nor Tristan have really been tested – and this is the season for it. I don’t think there is a single person on the show this season that I can point to and guarantee them a spot in the finale – and you know what? I think I can say I have a pretty good track record of picking the winner, at least after the first week of dancing. I don’t know if that will be the case this season. You have massive fanbases (shawn and Kirstie) up against people who may not have ones as large but have spent that last few months dancing to get in gear or for the Vegas show (Sabrina, Joey, Gilles), you have people paired with former partners against new partnerships (and who really knows who has the edge out of those two groups – I think it will vary)….the list goes on. There are a crazy number of variables that will determine who moves forward. The craziest of all being crack-addled judges.
And really, thinking about it makes Louis’ comments even stupider. Seriously, Louis, Mark is every bit the choreographer you and has a bigger fanbase and he couldn’t get her past some of the people who are also on this season, what on earth makes you think YOU can??
Crack-addled judges?! I love it! LOL
LOL!!!!!!
Interesting comments about Gilles because I was thinking he already seems to be suffering from the “Brandy Syndrome” … taking this dance competition way too seriously and wanting to win just a little too much.
If any of you have read some of his recent tweets, you know what I mean.
I’ll say one thing … I can’t wait to see how this season plays out.
Hmmm, now I know why some of the couples look stiff in their title shoot pics. Trying to dance with no music or look sexy with lame music and people telling you to do ridiculous stuff is going to be more of a challenge for some than others.
I thought Pamela and Tristan moved very well together and were so much more at ease than their static promo pic shows.
Shawn and Derek were adorable.
Yep, Nicole, I’m seeing “Brandy Syndrome” in Gilles too, and I think he’s as disappointed to not be dancing with Cheryl as she is to not be dancing with him.
I dont know what it is guys but Gilles just looks better with Cheryl…and Cheryl seems so akward in interviews and that clip with Emitt she looks like a daughter whos dad came back home and is keeping her inside the ouse and she cant come out…i really do think that she and gilles are dissapointed and i also do think that Emitts last minute decision to come on board did play a factor in her not geteing gilles and i think she and all the fans are really dissapointed…
I agree with Renee, it seems to me that Gilles panicked once he realized he wouldn’t be with Cheryl. Now, he’s overcompensating by saying he’ll do anything to win. And, it doesn’t help, in my opinion, that he and Peta are as dull as dishwater. I do believe his good looks will take him far, but I wouldn’t bet on the finals just yet either. Going in, my money is on Shawn, Joey and Apolo.
I think it will be funny if Emmitt outlasts Gilles on this season
That could be awesome, @Cameron. Almost as awesome as Bristol/Mark and Sabrina/Louis being a double elimination, as stated in another post.
I wonder how Emmitt and Peta are feeling at this point.
It’s obvious that Cheryl is very disappointed not to have been paired with Gilles, can’t imagine Emmitt is thrilled about her attitude.
Gilles is at least more diplomatic in his disappointment and will work hard for Peta, but i agree with other posters here, I fear for “brandy-syndrome”. Cheryl on the other hand …. I think she’s already burnt out, cannot even pretend to be excited …. so she just may phone it in. Although not sure the gyrating overtly steamy sexy bare chested angle is going to work with Emmitt.
@Linde – Cheryl seems like she’s over this season already, and it hasn’t even started yet – in her interviews with Emmitt, she just strikes me as “Are we done yet?”. I’m having a hard time getting a read on Emmitt – he seems like he’s at least kinda glad to be back, but I feel like he may not have the “hunger” that some of the other contestants this season have. Like he’s not going to be super disappointed if they don’t win again. But their promo photo just seemed painfully mismatched to me – Cheryl smoldering and Emmitt grinning genuinely. Hope that’s not a harbinger of doom for this season – because if it is, I feel bad for Emmitt
I get the feeling Peta probably had a 2nd MBT in her eyes the minute she found out she got Gilles – but from the look of him in their interviews & promo photo, he isn’t as into her this season as she is to him (in terms of the partnership – not romantically speaking, of course). Their picture looks to me like Peta going “Oh man, we are going to be such a sexy force to be reckoned with this season…right Gilles? Come on, Gilles, GET EXCITED!” while Gilles is just kinda half-assed standing there like “Yeah, super fun, whatever you say…” I do feel a bit bad for Gilles in that respect – I think he genuinely enjoyed his time with Cheryl in his original season, and still feels a sense of loyalty towards her. But after Cheryl’s behavior last season? I can’t bring myself to feel too bad for her, considering she got a free pass straight to the finale and was praised at every turn, despite some big cop-out choreography and a crap attitude. And oddly enough, I don’t feel too bad for Peta, either – still feeling a bit skeptical about her on several levels, and I still feel like she’s going to have a decent run with Gilles this season, even if they don’t end up winning.
In my opinion, Gilles needs to stop moping like a depressed teenager who isn’t allowed to be with the girl he thinks he loves because her parents don’t approve. Regardless of whether or not we think Peta’s the “real deal”, she is the reigning pro champ not some nobody.
My hope is that once rehearsals start, he’ll will warm up to Peta. She’s pleasant, hard-working, and enthusiastic. Frankly, I’d say she’s a lot more fun to be around than Cheryl is these days. If Gilles opens his eyes and uses his brain, he might realize he’s had a lucky escape.
Emmitt is the one I feel bad for. However, I don’t think he’s someone who’ll allow himself to be treated like chopped liver. He’d do it appropriately, but it wouldn’t surprise me if he had an offsite “come to Jesus” meeting with Cheryl if she doesn’t straighten up.
