DWTS All Stars Week 2: One Hour Special, Performers, And Other Details Announced
According to Zap2It, there will be a one hour special before the results show on Tuesday where “the judges will select and introduce past routines from the All-Stars’ previous seasons” and then the All Stars “will recount and comment on selected routines”. As previously reported, Katherine Jenkins will be performing and her special guest is ….Plácido Domingo. Note how Cher Lloyd will be performing as well. Lacey and Benji Schwimmer, the troupe, and more will be dancing in a teaser for Week 3’s “Iconic Dance Night”.
“Episode 1502 & 1502A” – Monday’s performance show showcases the remaining 12 All-Star couples dancing either the Jive or the Quickstep, live, MONDAY, OCTOBER 1 (8:00-10:01 p.m., ET) on the ABC Television Network.
In a one-hour special, “Dancing with the Stars: All-Stars — Defining Dances,” airing TUESDAY, OCTOBER 2 (8:00-9:00 p.m., ET), the judges will select and introduce past routines from the All-Stars’ previous seasons, ultimately defining the winning attributes that each All-Star demonstrated in these performances. The All-Stars will recount and comment on their mindsets during these selected routines. Following the special, the “Dancing with the Stars: All-Stars: The Results Show” on TUESDAY, OCTOBER 2 (9:00-10:00 p.m., ET) will feature Katherine Jenkins, last season’s finalist and classical singer, who returns to the ballroom as a special musical guest. She will be taking the stage with Plácido Domingo, performing “Come What May,” featured on Domingo’s new album, “Songs,” out October 16th. Their stunning duet will be accompanied by pro dancers Valentin Chmerkovskiy and Anna Trebunskaya. Also taking to the “Dancing with the Stars” stage is 19 year-old pop powerhouse Cher Lloyd, performing her hit single, “Want You Back.” Her latest album, “Sticks + Stones,” releases October 2nd.
Tuesday night’s exciting lineup continues with the season’s first “Macy’s Stars of Dance” performance, a futuristic standoff featuring some of the world’s most talented dancers battling for dance floor supremacy. The performance is choreographed by Shannon Mather, spotlighting Blake McGrath, Ian Eastwood and Tyne Stecklein leading their groups in an epic performance. We will also tease week 3’s “Iconic Dance Night” with a medley of iconic routines from seasons past, performed by The Troupe as well as talented dancers Anya Garnis, Jaymz Tuaileva, Lacey and Benji Schwimmer. And before night’s end, the second couple of the season will be eliminated.

Lacey’s tweets made it seem like she had a duet with Benji. Uh, there goes my excitement.
So does this mean with the Iconic Dance theme for Week 3, the couples will be re-doing an iconic dance from the past seasons? I HATE that idea. I want to see new routines to new songs, Not re-doing old dances that are never as good as the original. This is not a good way for them to increase the sagging ratings. It will only make the show seem even more like reruns than it already does. Give us something new and fresh!! I’m over this ‘Celebrate the Past’ idea that Conrad has for this season already.
OMG, hope they don’t repeat one of their dances. PLZ!!!!1!11!

Taking a few seconds to wish everyone a splendid season, and to give you kudos for the new website design.
But I just wanted to say, “OMG, OMG, OMG!” on Katherine singing with Plácido Domingo. If they wanted me to be glued to my seat tuesday night, they couldn’t have chosen a better bait. He’s one of the best out there, and still going strong. What an honour for Katherine, and what a treat for the DWTS audience! Can’t hardly wait…
So will this “iconic dance night” be like the one they did several seasons ago, where they had the original stars in as a guest celebrity judge as a new couple redid their dance?? And Cheryl turned Rick Fox into the Jolly Green Giant???
Not a good idea…. But we will wait and see…
I think it would be a good idea for the “Iconic Dance Night.” If the stars do the exact same routine from their previous season, then it would show how much better the quality of their dancing would be. These are the dances I would like to see:
Helio’s Quickstep
Joey’s 2nd Foxtrot
Drew’s Pasodoble or Tango
Gilles Salsa
Apolo’s Samba
Emmitt’s 2nd Samba
Kirstie’s Argentine Tango
Sabrina’s Pasodoble
Shawn’s Quickstep or Samba
Kelly’s Samba
Bristol’s Tango or Pasodoble
Melissa’s Quickstep
Could very well be someone else’s iconic dances….like Derek and Joanna’s futuristic paso, for instance.
Meh, I’m not sold on Iconic Dance night. If they get the celebs to repeat something they’ve done that’s iconic, what – Drew will have to do “Save a Horse, Ride a Cowboy” again? And Joey & Kym wind up redoing their jive? Oh, and what did Bristol do that’s iconic? The monkey suit jive? More like craptastic to me…. I think this is the ultimate case of not being able to recapture the magic. Best to leave those iconic dances right where they are – on You Tube.
Oh Heidi, I’d die and go to heaven if Derek and Joanna did their Paso Doble dance again…..my all time fave!!
No, Derek and Joanna wouldn’t do it, someone else would have to recreate it. BTW, I’m not speaking with any inside knowledge….just talking.
Possibly just a clip show similar to the Top Ten Dances they did before to fill up the first hour
I agree about leaving iconic dances on You Tube, especially that banana man quickstep!!! Why can’t it just be new dances with new music and new costumes.
That 200th episode was a shame… =/ You know what I think about recycling songs… whatever..
Vogue, I have to say I prefer the 50′s Paso. Think it’s my favourite routine ever on DwtS, including pro dances.
I love the 50′s paso too, Carlos!!
I loved that 50′s paso too. But I don’t want to see anyone else redo it or redo any of the celeb dances. If they do icon, please make it a tribute to iconic dances of iconic dancers, tributes so to speak.
Hope you’re right Jim. I’d rather see clips of the iconic dances than have them re-danced by others. I’m all for recycling but Hollywood’s obsession with it in film and TV is obnoxious.
On the other hand, I’d rather have the couples do Iconic Dance Night than Personal (Sob) Story Night.
Well, Cidra, you’re in luck! I remember Conrad Green saying as how we’d already seen these celebs personal stories we wouldn’t be seeing them again. I think… I don’t remember… I think he may have said they were doing this iconic night to replace personal story night. But I do remember him definitely saying no personal stories.
Woo-hoo…happy dance! Thanks, Evaine.
I think the 50′s Paso is like the intersection of what you need to have an iconic dance – near perfect execution, combined with amazing creativity and choreography. That’s pretty rare. Sure, Derek has created other great dances – Futuristic Paso, Psycho Tango, to name two – but those didn’t have the execution that the 50′s Paso did. Which actually might make them amazing in their own right – that dancers without the huge ability of a Nicole pulled them off very nicely.
Yer talkin’ me right out of wanting to see iconic dance week.
But what I wouldn’t give to see Nicole dance the Psycho Tango or Futuristic Paso with Derek…
If they insist on having the All-Stars re-envision an iconic dance, I hope it’ll be dances like the Moves Like Jagger Cha Cha or the Papparazzi Tango. I would like to see some of those dances re-tooled with more capable partners, rather than trying to live up to an ideal.
And many thanks Evaine for the news that we’ll be spared personal (sob) story week. Woo Hoo indeed
