DWTS Season 15 – Maksim Thinks He and Kirstie are the “Best Entertainers”
Whatcha smokin’ sunshine?? 🙂 Eh, you’re fun, but the best?? That would be Gilles… :::cough, cough::: Just kidding. 😀 But you’re still not the best in MY book. 🙂 I’ve seen you and Kirstie’s shtick before. Some excerpts from Maks’ latest blog:
I really enjoyed the whole dance selection segment, but the problem was, none of us could hear what Tom and Brooke were saying on stage! It’s so loud in there, so when they explained how it was going to work, none of us heard it. Afterward, I went up to one of the producers and asked how the order was selected and they explained it was the cumulative score and the lowest couple picked for the highest couple and then vice versa. It’s obvious they wanted the lower couples to sabotage the higher couples by giving them silly dances, but nobody really did. Nobody tried to put someone down. Plus, I don’t think 10 seconds is enough time to strategize like that. Louis actually came up to me after the show and said, “Hey, are you really upset we gave you the Charleston? We think it’d be good for you.” And I said, “No, not at all. It was just in the moment. I don’t think I would’ve been happy with either right then.” But overall, I thought the idea itself was funny and it was different from what we normally do.
I’m so happy for Val that he’s made it past the third week for the first time. I love him and Kelly’s partnership. I love that they have emerged as a surprise contender, if you can even say that in an all-star season. I love their chemistry. I’ve known Kelly for a long time and she’s a good friend. She’s got an amazing story, from her youth to how she got to where she is now. I’m glad that audiences are recognizing them as a couple that’s up there. We have no idea what the vote totals are, but I really hope there’s a strong fan base behind them. I do wish that they would reveal the votes at least. I do believe that everything’s fair, and if it’s not manipulated, what do you have to hide? In a season like this, votes are more important than ever.
Poor, poor, naive Maks. 🙂 Dude, there are several reasons why you don’t reveal the vote totals. One, if they are low in total number, it’s just embarrassing. Two, it ruins the DRAMA of it all. If you knew who was getting what votes every week, just think how easy it would be to predict the elimination order or the winner? Yeah, I’m pretty much kicking ass this season anyway 😉 but there would be no challenge. Anyway…you DID TOO look like an ugly woman. 🙂
I don’t, however, think I looked like an ugly woman. I think I’d make for a handsome woman! The whole concept was a lot of fun and obviously we were going for the androgynous rocker look because that’s what the era was like. I think that when you play a rock star, you go all out. When it comes to acting, if I were to play a role, there’d be a lot more research of the character’s mindset, etc. It’s very important to understand why the person was going through what they went through. Rock ‘n’ roll was a whole lifestyle. It was drug-induced. When we’re getting ready for the dance, Kirstie was like, “You have to act like you’re tripping on acid.” I’ve never done a drug in my life. I don’t have the slightest idea of what a person tripping on acid looks like. I’m not judging rock stars or their decisions because what they did was genius, but it’s very hard for me to understand what that was like.
The Insider has the bit on Maks and his cryogenics thing – didn’t Maria turn him on to this last season??
Kirstie do is very entertaining. =] Maksim takes himself too seriously to be at least fun to watch… =/
I really can’t get their reaction to charleston. I wanted to see them doing a Lindy Hop, and Emmitt a contemporary…. wait… (@_@)
The dude wants to be actor? I’m thinking there would be plenty of situations as an actor that he’s never lived out.
Same old BS from good old Maks.
Yes, Maks has a relationship to the language and an idiosyncratic directness that often transform into TV soundbites and media headlines that make him look silly. Nonetheless I like reading his blogs, which generally cover a variety of DWTS topics, not always focused squarely on himself. (unlike, say, Mark Ballas, a guy who’s risen in my estimation this season, but whose blogs still come across as ME! ME! ME! And Louis’ never fail to grate)
In this Maks installment I liked hearing more about the dance selection process/the confusion of it/how no one could hear. Interesting comments on Kirstie and what helps her relax and put in good practices.
Tho I know better from PDWTS, I’d sure like to get a gander at those vote totals, too, or at the very least, trot some accountants out on stage for verification and to provide an explanation of a monitored process to keep the voting fair.
Maks generally acknowledges the departing dancers with grace and good will, usually has a compliment for one or more dancing competitors, and how could I not approve of his promoting Breast Cancer Awareness?
So good job, Maks. And thanks for posting it, PH.
I prefer this season’s happy Maks to the Mad Maks of a couple of seasons ago and last season’s Stepford Maks. He knows he and Kirstie aren’t going to win this season but they intend to have some fun before they get eliminated. At least he’s having fun with his partner. More so than I bet a certain pro is having with his Alaskan “celeb.”
And yes, the cryogenics is Maria’s thing….I figured since she is competition they didn’t dare let him mention her name on air.
I am a big Maks fan and I love Kirstie. I am so happy watching these two dance together they make me laugh and they do entertain me alot! Let’s not forget in season 12 which was the highest rated season Kirstie and Maks came in 2nd place behind Heinz Ward. They beat out cute as a button very good dancer Chelsea Kane and Mark, even with their 15 point advantage in the cha cha dance off!
:::sigh::: If season 12 was the highest rated season it’s highly unlikely that it had anything to do with Kirstie – if it had, she would have won. Those ratings are no more due to Kirstie than the lower ratings this season are due to Bristol.
I think Kirstie and Maks came into this season thinking for sure that they would be the most entertaining, and probably a lot of people had that expectation as well. But for me, they are far from that. I find Kirstie silly, and I’d rather watch anybody else (other than Bristol). But I can see where they would want to keep trying to work that “most entertaining” angle.
Personally, I think Kirstie and Maks are the only ones left that aren’t taking themselves seriously at all. I enjoy them, a lot. They’re actually keeping this whole silliness of an All-Star season light and in perspective for me.
Loved Maks’ blog too. It’s positive, fun and got a few informative tidbits in it as well. I really enjoy the tone of his blogs this season. Peaceful and happy Maks makes me happy. 🙂
And yes, Maria (y’all remember Derek’s partner from last season?) she turned Maks on to the cryogenic therapy, but I assume since it was on a rival infotainment show, Maks was told not to mention it. The interviewer made certain not to ask him how he found out about it.
