DWTS All Stars, Week 8 – Who’s Dancing What…and When??
Wild and crazy week ahead!! Karina’s hurt now, according to her facebook, Derek’s back, it’s a double elimination week and I’ve got random gossip that will have a whole bunch of people probably pissed off before I’m done. 
Yay!!
But first!! Who’s dancing what??
ETA1: This may surprise some of you, but apparently Sasha was Karina’s #1 choice for their 3rd trio member – she thinks he’s a great dancer & athlete and actually has Apolo watch videos of Sasha dancing in order to understand technique. She’s even letting him have input on the choreography of their jive, so she must see some sort of advantage in him. Fingers crossed! -Court-
ETA2: I think we’re a bit unsure about Gilles song – we know they’re using it, but it could be someone else’s song. We’re pretty sure it’s Gilles. Speaking of Gilles…the Douche lord strikes again. He apparently claims that “The Hispanic community is going to love my song!” because it’s sung by “The greatest salsa singer of all-time!” He also googled salsa and was explaining to Peta that “since there are no rules in salsa, the judges can’t judge me on my weird hands”. Apparently Peta just nodded her head and said “Mmmhmmm” and then proceeded to chug some bleach. That part may have been Courtney’s wishful thinking. Supposedly they also were asking him how he was faring with the trio dance, since he’d never done it before, and he kept insisting “Oh, I’ve had a threesome before.” Perv. The very worst thing about Gilles and what makes him so annoying is that he thinks he’s funny and charming and sexy, when he’s really just a douche lord. I think he has the original douche lord (Scott Disick) beat by a mile.
ETA3: Geez, Kelly’s song doesn’t play into the faux-mance AT ALL (cue end sarcasm). I wonder how much drooling all over each other they will do this week – while Val is in uniform and there’s fog (just a guess, not intel). And OMG – Gilles referenced Top Gun in one of his tweets this morning. Dude, youse getting way to easy to predict. Bad sign. He says it’s going to be a “great homage” to all the Veterans. I guess that means we were right about his quickstep song. Hint: Both of Melissa’s songs, one of Gilles songs, one of Kirstie’s and one of Emmitt’s have all been used on the show before – for a combined total of 7 other times. Gilles’ song “Danger Zone” was Kurt & Anna’s jive in season 11. A virtual pat on the back who can guess the song that Melissa is dancing to when I say….Marie Osmond also danced to it.
ETA4: Okay, it appears we mixed a couple things up. Kelly is doing Viennese Waltz, not plain waltz and Emmitt is the one with Love Letters. Courtney told me to blame her. But seriously, we often know the songs but sometimes have to guess at who has what. And what dance style they put with a given song. Yes, there are apparently FOUR V. Waltzs. We’ve heard that Gilles is boring as hell and that his trio is going, AGAIN, for the trashy. We’ve also heard that Emmitt’s trio is hilarious and fun, full of spins and tricks (and he’s managing to LEAD both ladies) – and he’ll likely upstage Gilles. Hope that’s not wishful thinking on all our parts. Laila gets the virtual high 5 for guessing Melissa’s song FIRST.
ETA5: So, apparently Kelly’s Trio is cute, but Apolo’s has better choreo and crazy tricks. Whereas Shawn and Derek’s Trio is “trick free” this week, although the choreo might still give them trouble with Len – which is a surprise to exactly NO ONE, I suppose, after hearing the song. We’re GUESSING the “surprise” Shirley alluded to on Facebook might be the actual artist performing their song. We don’t actually know this, we’re just guessing. I reiterate again *guessing* – just so we’re clear. As a teaser for later, I will tell you that Courtney is “shocked and dismayed” by the song they gave to Kirstie for her Trio. BTW, I put in a “read more” tag cuz this post is getting WAY too long, since I added the picture of my future former husband. 
ETA6: So the douche lord is going 5th. For those of you obsessed with the running order, that’s really not so good when everyone is doing two dances. Kinda middle of the pack. NOT THAT IT MATTERS ANYWAY at this point in the season. Just sayin’. Tired of saying that. People are either voting for a given couple now or they aren’t.
ETA7: I’ve seen claims that Kirstie is going third, which would automatically put Shawn first. Any links??

Hope Gilles is having an off week and is going home! Can’t stand his attitude. Love Shawn, Melissa and Apolo. Hope the gossip is sooner rather than later–inquiring minds and all.

One renegade Kelly fan threatened to “come set me straight” the other day on Twitter – because physical violence is such a healthy way to deal with strangers you don’t agree with 
In reality, I was actually quite complimentary of Kelly in the first few weeks, when she was dancing well and the showmancing hadn’t gotten out of control…but now I feel like she & Val are so stuck in showmance mode that it’s become disingenous. That, and like Gilles, Kelly seems to have resorted to taking swipes at other couples now…not cool.
The more I hear people talk, the less I think Apolo is in danger – I’m seeing a fairly widespread, genuine amount of indignation from his fans, and even some of those who aren’t really Apolo fans have made a point of saying “I think he’s been underscored”. This tells me that people are likely motivated to vote – even those voting for other couples might be inclined to toss a vote or two his way. On the flip side, I am not seeing a lot people defending Gilles – aside from the Gilles fanpages themselves, I’m not seeing too many other fans offering the same kind of support to him. I’m also not seeing a ton of Gilles trolls – maybe only 2 or 3 here at Pure. And while that may not seem significant, in previous seasons, the couples that had a decent amount of trolls also tended to be getting a decent # of votes – Donny, Bristol, Chelsea, Hope, & William all come to mind as contestants that generated a lot of trolls whenever we said something less than complimentary about them. Gilles this season? Not really…
sheery, it always boggles my mind how fans (and I include a lot of Derek fans in this) see everything as set in stone, black and white, no shades of grey. These people are like static puppets to them, without real thoughts or emotions. You hear fans say, “Well, three years ago Derek said such and such” and expect that thought that Derek expressed three years ago to NEVER change. How many people (especially those who aged from 24 to 27) have the exact same opinion on a subject after 3 or 4 years. Not many – and if you do that’s another problem. Perhaps a problem some of these fans have.
Why can’t they get that MAYBE Karina sees that someone is doing something good and wants to spread the word because it’s something she wants to do??? Why does there have to be another motive. I swear – people are crazy.
Actually Sheery, I think the new effort is being organized by Maks & good for Karina in not caring. Personally, I think it’s the fans that make a much bigger deal & read into the pros (all of them..not just Karina & Maks) actions (every tweet, look, gesture, etc..) & create more issues between pros than what actually exist in reality.

They are in so deep that in the end it will bite them in the backsides. I have a really bad feeling about the backlash that will come from it. That is why I truly believe they should have backed off a loooooooong time ago. If they had stuck with the friendship thing, maybe but now….I mean Val will not come out of this looking good at all. And Kelly is coming off as…..how do I say this without sounding like a mean girl?

You’re probably right on the money with that assessment, Cher – the fallout after this season will likely not be worth the temporary attention Kelly & Val got for their showmance. And the people that will be most upset about the whole thing, for seasons to come? The shippers. Hell, look at how many Mark-Sabrina shippers were still shipping strong after 5 years when she got picked for this season – and the Bristol-Mark shippers that were going head-to-head with them over who Mark was destined to be with
I hope Val is ready to deal with sh*t from Kelly shippers for seasons to come – because in their eyes, he will be “cheating” on her with every single partner he has from here on out.

Yes it will come back to bite them. They would have been much better taking the Derek/Maria route – let the natural chemisty abound, point out from time to time that Maria has a boyfriend, etc. EVEN THEN, there was some fall out because shippers are…well…fucking crazy, sometimes. Oh the whimpering on twitter when there were pictures of him and Katherine. More whimpering when pictures of him and the mystery brunette began surfacing everywhere. Luckily, since they didn’t try to fake it, it’s only whimpering.

So I am all for believing it is a showmance..Kelly has a bf who literally sits in the audience every week the way Keven sat in the audience for Maria. So wanted to ask others opinions…does anyone watch afterbuzz? Suri Serano each week keeps trying to imply that there is more going on with val and kelly…like she knows them and that their relationship at home isn’t as great as others believe…do you think she has a clue? I mean her and Kristen (the other announcer) do dwts afterbuzz and they are both pretty clueless but was just seeing if anyone else watched…Suri’s obsession with Shawn and gymnastics is strange as well- but that is a side note…NO Suri you won’t be on DWTS! LOL.
Sasha is having in put in the choreo, not sure how I fell about that. I have nothing against him apart from his obsession with flipping that gets with annoying, but I’m still not sold on him as a choreo, he did the taylor swift number this season and that was a hot mess. Karina is great with Jive , so I would rather if she did all the the choreo.
Kelly and Val are so ridiculously fake I’m astounded when I read comments saying Kelly and Val are hot together. Haven’t people noticed at the end of the show they stand around like mummies until the camera pans on them, and only then they start hugging and kissing in a very over the top way I might add.
Im a kelly & val fan, and i find the soap shipper crays crays more entertaining than the actual showmance. Ive heard a couple of fans say they kind of want her to get voted off because she is cheating on jason, her dead soap husband, with val, her showmance dance partner…and then there are the other extremes who are basically planning val and kelly’s wedding.

Joey: Kelly would probably like to foul around with a younger guy but I honestly don’t think Val is really interested in her that way. Val has lastest longer than any other season for him and he is thinking showmance will bring in the money when he stays longer.
At the end of the day, each week the pros bring in more money for their pockets, but where some are off is WHAT they THINK the people who watch want to see them do each week.
Thus the problem they make for themselves. When they repulse a group of people well

Oh, ok there was an Amelia. Phew, so no hallucination then. Thank god for that.
I also think TeamVally is all showmance. The strange thing is that they never refer to a boyfriend like Maria and Derek did.Or maybe I missed it. Maybe Kelly and Val are just confused with their own feelings. I mean, I get it, two people working so close for hours a day, every day is obviously very stressful. And Kelly has a day job, too. Val has never come that far in the competition and I think this season he has a good approach to it, not only with this showmance
but also with his choreographies. I think he puts much more effort in this season. That alone gets him emotionally more involved then in his previous seasons.
Derek, Mark and Karina fell in love with one of their first dancing partners, too, so that even relationships developed out of their affection. I think Derek in particular figured it out what emotional involvement on that show means. He always had great chemistry with all of his partners in a different way. That’s why he is my favorite. He is insanely creative and witty. Just gifted.

@joey (#44) – Suri is a gymnast-turned-dancer herself, which she has mentioned a few times on afterbuzz, and that’s why she’s such a big Shawn fan.
I want to know the “percussive” music that the shawn-derek-mark trio are dancing the samba to – like others have said, if Derek’s excited about it, you know it’s going to be good.
The difference being, Lana, that Derek, Mark and Karina had REAL romantic relationships with their partners. Mark dated Sabrina for more than a year, Derek actually lived with Shannon for a year (and wouldn’t admit to it for the first 6 months) and Karina had a real relationship with Mario. Kelly and Val, on the other hand, is entirely fake and put on for show. Hence the word “showmance”.
Interesting thing is, I think Derek and Shannon were joking around at first about a romance and playing it up. Then suddenly both of them stopped talking about it. Cuz it weren’t pretend no more.
Man, ya’ll have to move past Julianne. She will never dance as a pro on DWTS again. Not happening.

I’m nervous and excited for both of my favorite couples this week. Val/Kelly and Karina/Apolo. I think both couples are performing one of their weaker numbers this week. Kelly had her worst score with the waltz in season one and I thought the jive was definitely one of Apolo’s weakest dances on his season. I’m doubly nervous for him since the second pro in his trio is a male and the audience may naturally draw comparisons. Although, the Grease song, costumes and story are such fun that may override everything. Crossing my fingers for them both! Not sure I care to know the gossip. I never even knew that Karina was engaged to Maks or Mario or that other guy till I came here! It’s kinda more fun when I don’t know anything about the real people. Rather like the time I met Topher Grace from that 70′s Show. *sigh* I can never enjoy that show again.
As for the showmance, I don’t buy it. I think they’ve definitely formed a great friendship though and they do have a good chemistry. She’s a soap star though so I can see why the producers are going with that angle. Creating a will they, won’t they on this show as well. I wonder if entertainment shows are complicit with these shows. Why doesn’t ET or Access Hollywood just ask her about her boyfriend in the front row. Seems very odd to me. They must tell the news the shows want to be pimped/shown.

I am a Vally shipper, as in Vally the dancecouple. I think they´re amazing on the dancefloor. I do think they are becoming good friends, but nothing more than that. And yes, they go a bit over the top with “are we sleeping together or are we not?” but if that´s what they want to go with, that´s fine with me really. I am also a soap viewer and yes, some soapers can get a bit too intense but most of their “cray cray” comments are just jokes. If you knew them better that would be obvious.

Do we know what day Karina got injured? I just saw a video of her that was posted today on twitter of her scaling a fence at their rehearsal studio sneaking up behind Apolo! Hee! Maybe whatever the injury was, she’s doing better now? I think the pros (and sports celebrities) are very used to performing injured.
I think you might be confused about what we mean by “shipper”, Bella – we mean the people that actually believe Kelly & Val are madly in love & should get married & make babies. You sound more like a level-headed fan that just likes them as a dance couple…am I right?
And while some soap fans joke about crazy stuff, I’ve unfortunately seen quite a few that are dead serious when they send hate tweets to a soap actor or actress about something their character did. I even saw a woman slap a soap actor at a fan event a few years back for something his character did. Some of them kinda scare me, with how much they live vicariously through these characters.
Stop !!! Julianne does not want to, Ryan does not want her to, and she will not be coming back to dance with Apolo, Helio, whoever……argh !@#&*^%#!!!!!!!!!
#63 Courtney- Plus, her partner’s brother has an accent, as does her partner’s brother’s girlfriend and her partner. Oy vey !
#67 Iliana, She got injured the same day but in the evening rehearsals. Karina is a trooper, she did have neck surgery in Season 5 and came back in a few days. She is still constantly getting those painful shots to her neck as it has been shown in a recent video.
Heh. I think that if Karina were ever caught doing what I’ve heard Kelly has done, she would be hung from the rafters by the very same people cutting Kelly slack. As would many other females related to the show. Beauty of opinions, indeed.
I agree, Courtney. I’m not going to wade too deep into these waters, but with some of the community work I’ve done in my life, I’ve learned that a large group of people that are not able to work and are at home during the day to actually watch soap operas are the mentally disabled. The depressed, the disturbed, etc etc. That’s not to say that all people that watch daytime television have mental impairments, not at all, but of the population of people that are readily at hand to watch daytime tv, that group is amongst them and the day to day nature of those shows can lead to some unhealthy attachments. Thought, as a sorta fangirl of The Vampire Diaries, I can say that the “crazies” are not solely relegated to daytime TV. OMG, there are some loco people in that fan group. Consider yourself lucky!!

@Bella I think they mean when as a Vally fan you are afraid to voice your opinion to other Vally fans for fear of them going off on you and calling you a “crazy ass bitch that has no soul and deserves to die alone because you wouldn’t know true love if it bit you in the ass.”

Rosy, I *think* Courtney alluded to most of it while leaving out much of the details so that we can protect our source. I think we’re going to leave it at Kelly is a C U Next Tuesday just to be on the safe side. You can believe us or not.
Courtney and I both liked her when the season started. I think it’s safe to say that neither of us like her now. I certainly don’t. She’s acting like a fucking 5 year old. A jealous 5 year old.

And unfortunately I’ve also witnessed soapers do crazy stuff for a character or soap couple. I also know Kellys fans are hardcore at times. They fight for her til death. I’m still hoping I can have my dream final three of Apolo/Karina, Kelly/Val and Derek/Shawn, with Derek and Shawn winning bc I can’t deny they are the most talented.
I think Emmitt is in the most danger right now. I always forget he’s on the show. It’s always like, “Oh yeah! I forgot he was still there.” I also feel like his routines all seem very similar. Not sure if that is his limitations or Cheryl’s choreography.
Princess Heidi – Kelly must’ve done something really bad for you to call her that and I’ve never perceived Kelly as much of a jealous person, but anything can happen when there’s competition I guess.
If you rewatch Apolo and Karina’s Cha cha/Paso from Monday and watch the camera shot of the couples in the celebritorium during the applause, you will see other couples clapping, nodding, smiling and there is Kelly on the side, waiting until she knows the camera is panning before letting out a very melodramatic yawn. Yeah, classy.
I believe the source and the ladies here. How can people not tell or get the vibe from Kelly that she’s nasty? I re-watch the shows on Wednesdays with one of my daughters because of her schedule she can’t stay up to watch on Tuesdays and sometimes (okay most times) she wants to rewind are re-watch certain things. I have always picked up on Kelly’s “looks”, etc. I though Pam acted creepy/strange while she was on. I feel that way about Kelly. The same intuition is used to tell me that Melissa is a sweetie, that Tony tries to be happy for everyone, that Emmitt liked Bristol, and that Gilles head is extremely “swollen” to think someone shouldn’t have danced to one of his songs (guess Maks & Brandy dancing to it in S11 was okay though).
I would loooooove to hear want Miss Monaco did. Was Louie, Karina’s friend, in the room? Did Apolo hear? Did her say anything? Did any other celebs/pros hear? Sorry…stuck with a bunch of tweens having a sleepover….anything not Justin B. or One Direction related would be pure gold right about now lol.

Im not understanding what the big deal is. Am I missing something? I read back and am not seeing what Kelly did to be called such nasty names? She seems like a perfectly nice person on the shows and Ive seen her in other interviews and she seems quite humble. It’s clear Val and her are playing up the showmance but I dont see what’s wrong with that either. What am I missing?

@Bella – Yeah, I have generally found that after a show has been on for a period of time and sustained a high level of popularity, that’s when the people more inclined to obsessive behavior tend to emerge & develop unhealthy attachments to cast members and/or characters. When I started watching GH again after college, it was an eye-opener to see all the “Jasam vs. Liason” beef flying. And then there were the crazy “Klaine” fans from Glee who were sending death threats to the actor who played Sebastian, and I heard about a fan that went a little cray-cray at a Sons of Anarchy fan event not long ago and was screaming at Ron Perlman for “beating up Gemma” (it was his character, not him…poor guy!). I understand that people develop an attachment to these characters & get upset when the storyline doesn’t run in their favor, but a normal person knows how to separate reality from fiction. The crazy ones unfortunately don’t
I think someone asked earlier about “Donny trolls” and I never responded – yes, Donny had trolls…many trolls…and they were the type to bite your head off if you didn’t worship the ground he walked on. I’m assuming these were ladies who had loved Donny for many years, & didn’t take too fondly to anyone who didn’t adore him like they did. That was my first season writing for Pure, and it was an eye-opener – I think I almost quit about 5 different times. John had to talk me down off a ledge a lot that season, god love him
Actually if it is Karina related I think there may be some bad blood between the two. If you watch Karina after Kelly/Val’s tango she wasn’t clapping along with everyone else. But that is just speculation on my part thinking the two of them do not get along very well and in no way means one person should belittle another. I have a bad feeling my respect for Kelly as a woman is about to plummet greatly…………….which is sad and disappointing.

If its true, then there is no excuse but other than this, she works overtime,never complains about injuries (she broke her ribs during the fall and didn’t make a big deal about it). Courtney hasn’t told us anything specific yet so this is just a guess…

@Danica – This is coming from a fellow Kelly fan. I don’t think anyone is biased. Everyone (Well, maybe not Chelsie, because she is abnormally kind, but everyone else) on this show does has done something shitty and they call them out on it. Not saying anything wouldn’t stop these things from being true. But who do you think they worship? Is it Tom? Everyone worships Tom.
From what I’ve observed, Kelly is always pretty reserved on show nights. She’s not that effusive for anyone or anything. She’s known for having an incredibly dry sense of humor. She’s also known for being one of the hardest workers on the show. Almost every star and pro I’ve heard talk about her say they have no idea how she is capable of keeping up. On that radio show this site linked to the other week, Luis said he’s a huge fan of hers and friend of hers since season 1. That he thinks she’s great and he likes how Val has been trying to protect her. Next week on that radio show, Tony called her a sweetheart. Cheryl is clearly a good friend of hers, they show those two together on the show all the time and there are numerous vids of them together on the town over years. Tom B. seems to enjoy her humor. Maybe there is bad blood between her and Karina for whatever reason. Misguided loyalty to her partner? Having a bad week? Who knows. I’m not ready to call her the anti-christ. I plan on still enjoying BOTH dance pairings as they are my favs and were my favs on their previous seasons as well. This is probably my just desserts for laughing at all the hating going on about Gilles. Not as fun when it turns on your personal favorites.

I second that,I actually started coming here back on season 8, but nerver really posted anything because I never had the time, now that I spend most of my day in a laptop writing thesis and paperworks about internacional politics like crazy, I like o have some five minutes breaks every now and then to get my mind out of the serious stuff.

So I believe they’ve heard accurate info regarding Kelly and Gilles from their source. It also seems to be backed up by other info that is currently circulating around on some other boards about Kelly not being as nice as she appears.
Since is Veterans week, I bet someone is bringing back Mark’s marine costume from his v.waltz with Kristi, I wouldn’t mind that, because I actually really liked that one.

I liked Gilles in his original season. I liked him in Sex and the City. If you’ve read “A Discovery of Witches” I thought he’d make a great Matthew. Now, though? “And they called it puppy loveovovov”…Yes it’s true in my young years I was a Donny Osmond fan…his pictures adorned my walls and his images filled my dreams. However then I grew up and realized he is just a man. It was fun to see and remember on DWTS, but I also remembered the things he has done as an adult, some of which were too memorable and not in a great way…lol!
In terms of the Kelly and Val thing it is important to remember there are not two sides to a fact. In my other life, over the past year I have said that ad nauseum. My experience with this site is that when Heidi, Courtney etc. say it, it turns out to be true. What reason would they have for making a mountain of a molehill? I am pretty sure there are no pay-offs involved. People are not as they appear to be, what we see is their on screen persona….which is most likely very different from who they are in reality. Let me just say my aunt is in show business and the stories she tells about some of these folks keep me in stitches and sometimes are not so flattering.
Finally just when I though Gilles could not get any worse, someone suggests he may dress up like Top Gun. Dear Lord, my son is a Navy Airman, that made me throw up in my mouth a little. How will I ever look at that uniform the same again? Oh dear, oh dear.

You don’t need to read this site to know Kelly’s a miserable bitch. Just watch her behavior on the show. Every time the show pans to her, she has a sour, unpleasant look on her face. She doesn’t clap unless the pair is related to her partner. She almost never smiles. She’s an actress, she could fake a smile for the cameras if she wanted to, she just can’t be bothered. Everyone has bad days when the scores didn’t go their way and they’re bummed and aren’t as smiley as usual, but she’s miserable every show.
And I, too, noticed that after Apolo’s beautiful v. waltz that she not only wasn’t clapping but she did this really big, fake yawn to indicate her distain. I rewatched it on youtube, it’s clearly a fake yawn for effect. She’s really unpleasant and rude. I liked her at the very beginning, but I haven’t been able to stand her for awhile now.
So it doens’t suprise me at all to hear she’s a rude bitch behind the scenes as well.
If I remember correctly, either Court or PH commented on how unpleasant she was when she was sitting in the audience a couple of season ago! You know, when she had no reason to fake being a nice person for votes!
Shout out to all the celebs and other people not making a song and dance about how much they’re doing for victims of Sandy. There are plenty of people doing good things, they just don’t want to make themselves the center of attention.
I think Kelly smiles a lot, but we all like who we like because that´s just how it is. And everyone on DWTS can´t like everyone. Karina didn´t clap at all after Kelly and Vals tango, but that´s ok with me cause clearly she doesn´t like them and why make a big deal about it? And of course I don´t think it´s ok for Kelly to say bad things about Karina if that´s what she did, but I´m sure others on DWTS has said not so flattering things about the other dancers, but it just wasn´t detected by other people. It is what it is. No one gets any hatin’ from me. I just watch because of the dancing and chemistry between dancecouples.
Just wanted to say that I thought derek/shawn/mark handled the situation great last week. Shawn really handled things well. Sure she got tired of “who’s the better partner” You could tell though from body language who the dance partners were and who the fill in was. Just thought all three were a class act. didn’t create any extra drama.
Colleen – Shawn is such a talented woman and I love Derek and his choreography. They are great together, but damn she got some awesome chemistry with Mark!

She was the ice bitch from hell when she was in the audience a few seasons ago – Tom tried to talk to her on camera and then couldn’t get away from her fast enough. It was kinda like watching a man accidentally step on a hornets nest. Or on a viper.
#184 Lisa I agree with you. The good Maks and Kirstie have done and are doing has been a bit tarnished for me by their need to tweet/blog about it, pose for photographers, talk to the media. And I must say I thought it was horrible that Maks called out others on the show for not doing enough in his blog this week. Unless everyone reported to him personally, he has no idea what anyone is or isn’t doing. And if he’s talking about no one but Tony showing up to help him and Kirstie pack boxes, then I hope his disappointment extends to his brother and his girlfriend.
And on that subject kudos to Karina for retweeting his appeal for supplies and putting what’s really important first – getting help to those who need it. I’m not much of a Karina fan but I’m impressed with the way she’s handled herself with all the crap from the mafia this season.
Can we move on from Kelly because all of this negativity is really a drag…..lets talk about who has the best chance of leaving on Tuesday…because I am thinking Emmitt and Kirstie.
I don’t think Shawn’s chemistry with Mark even comes close to hers with Derek. He’s made her a much more connected, emotional dancer. It’s amazing.
As for Karina not clapping after Kelly and Val’s tango? Didn’t see it, but if true, I sure as hell don’t blame her. I wouldn’t either.

The difference is, Bella, that we’ve not heard about anyone other than Kelly (and Gilles) being assholes on this season of DWTS. And usually we hear. We’ve seen Kelly being a beyotch on camera BEFORE this season, whereas Karina has handled most everything, including the crap with Maks, with class.
One instance of a non-clap doesn’t really stack up against a history of…interesting…behavior.

I have no source at dwts, but I have met Karina and I have actually spoken to her on the phone during her season with JR (long story lol) and she has messaged me on fb. She is a sweetheart. I can’t imagine have to go to work where an ex, his bro and new GF are and then have to hear crap about Julianne & Apolo’s “chemistry from Julianne fans and have CarrieAnn say something as well. Footloose – the remake is no bad ( I was expecting something really terrible) , but of course it can’t compare to the original. Julianne was actually good, but the other guy was no where near Kevin Bacon.
But I really love the new version of “holding out for a hero”, but the truth is thatI always prefer the acoustic version.
I’ve only seen each Footloose film once and it’s a long time ago I saw the original so I couldn’t really remember how it was done in that one.

Listened to Kelly’s waltz song this morning. Quite pretty. Did Elvis sing this song too? I think it’ll play great with the Veteran’s Day episode. Cheryl and Ian also danced the Tango to holding out for a hero on Season 4, Apolo’s season. That’s why it came to mind for me with the hints earlier. Have to admit, I’m not a big fan of either Footloose movie. I didn’t even bother to see the remake so Holding Out for a Hero will always be an Epic Cheesey video with cowboys, neon whips, fire, canyons, 80′s ladies in flowing white gowns……yikes, EPIC!

I had totally wiped the recent Footloose from my brain. *LOL* For me the only one is the original. Campy though it might be. HOWEVER… Holding Out for a Hero will ALWAYS be Bo and Hope’s song from way back in the day of Days of Our Lives and he was the rebel on the motorcycle, ‘kidnapping’ Hope from her wedding to Larry the Sleaze. Oh those were the fun days!

Great comments on Lord Gilles. Another reason I love this site — we have a lot of quick-witted posters who can really turn a phrase to maximum effect!
This season’s cast is probably *not* going to be remembered as one of the happier, closer-knit groups. I guess the heightened pressure of an all-stars season and a couple bad apples has created some unfortunate tension. It’s such a shame we lost Joey and Helio in the 2nd and 3rde weeks. They would have helped lighten the mood, and the atmosphere would be a lot different.
@Dreads Kelly’s boyfriend missed one week because he was shooting a movie on the East Coast. Kelly’s TV mom sits next to him each week in the audience. Im sure they play it up a bit for the show, but it definitely works for them and they also post pics hanging out after practice so there’s a genuine element there too.
I could honestly see Gilles having a Joan Crawford meltdown yelling at the wardrobe department … “NO Wire Hangers”..

yes. Everyone does have their taste. Although I am not a huge fan of Karina I must say at least she keeps her mouth shut.
I missed all of this until just now a day later and I admit I have no idea what has been going on, and do not make a lot of comments, but just want to say the following as someone who just found this site last year.
I have been watching DWTS since S1 and have never watched GH so know nothing about Kelly M other than she is on it. My favorite that year was John O’Hurley. That season was the first and last season my husband watched the show. Yes, he has remained bitter for that long. lol I had to look up the dates to be sure, but I do remember that there was a rematch because fans said it was fixed in Kelly’s favor. The rematch took place September 20, 2005 (had to look that up) and was called a Grudge Rematch. The rematch earned $126,000 for Golfers Against Cancer charity and was voted on strictly by viewers and John won. My husband felt vindicated. lol Just wanted to give a little history of my only previous knowledge of Kelly M.
Fast forward to how many seasons later and in comes Kelly M who I have not seen or heard about since. I guess I have been hiding under a rock, but have never been part of any site like this that covered DWTS until this one so have no background knowledge that I have been reading about with the comments above mine. I did know that Max and Karina were engaged at one time. I was not sure about Derek and Shannon, never knew about Mark and Sabrina, etc.
When the season started I did like Kelly and Val. She impressed me with what she was able to accomplish after not dancing for so long. When it became very evident that there was something going on between the two of them I became put off only because I knew she had a boyfriend sitting there in the audience. To tell you the truth I began wondering if she had broken off with him or what was going on. Maybe I am wrong for feeling the way I do, but their public display of whatever it is just didn’t seem right to me. It was too overboard and I no longer enjoyed watching it. I kept thinking her poor boyfriend has to witness this.
From the start my favorites have been Apollo/Karina and Shawn/Derek. I loved Apollo during his season and have always loved Karina and for whatever reason felt she was being short changed as a pro. When Karina and JR won I was elated as they were my favorites from the start. I couldn’t even tell you what soap he was on because I was not familiar with it. It was all based on the two of them.
Shawn was another favorite of mine and I have always loved Derek and his beautiful choreograph of dances. I have seen Shawn grow so much and Derek has definitely brought out the best of her. Not only with dance, but a softer side.
I do think Apollo has been underscored during this season and it frustrates me. Len has had it in for Shawn. I was so happy when the weeks that they each got their 30 scores and don’t understand why it took so long. I also never understood why the couple who goes first has to be marked lower. I am sure you great ladies who run this site know, but I have no clue.
I am so worried that Apollo will leave this week and did feel better many comments before when one of you thought they would be okay. I know I would be okay with either Shawn or Apollo winning because for me they are the best dancers.
I would love to see Melissa and Tony make it to the finals as well because Tony is another one who has been short changed and am just happy that he looks so happy this season. Love to see that big smile on his face.
Gilles was another favorite of mine in his season, and in the beginning I thought maybe he had a chance, but I don’t have to add why I don’t feel that way any longer as I think most of us are in agreement about him.
Emmitt and Cheryl for me are just not the same Emmitt and Cheryl from before. I don’t know what it is, but Emmitt was wonderful in his season, but his dancing to me has not stuck out like it did back then.
Kirstie and Max in my opinion do bring entertainment, but it goes back to what is most important to you as a fan of this show. Dance has always been the most important element and I personally think they should be one of the two couples to leave. I know she has a huge fan base so not sure how that will go. Without reading the comments here today I was a little turned off by their packet (hope that’s the right terminology) of showing how the both of them helped out with Storm Sandy. What they did was wonderful so not meaning that in a mean way, but felt they were over playing it a bit. Who knows what anyone else did? Perhaps sent a huge check and didn’t advertise it.
I know I will be so nervous come Tuesday night as I have no idea who will be lost during the double elimination. I feel pretty secure with Shawn, but just want Apoolo to make it. Karina has always given him hard choreography and he delivers. The judges comments are always positive except for CA and the lack of chemistry comment which I won’t get into. Yes, we had that week when poor Karina fell, but I have seen so many things overlooked with some of the other dancers with an “oh well”. No way should Apollo have been the 2nd from the bottom on the leaderboard.

Cher, you’re killin’ me with your Gilles comments. I can’t compete, but a thought did occur to me. One of the catch phrases in WWII was “loose lips sink ships”. Maybe that’s what’ll happen to Gilles. With the way he’s always flapping his gums about how “AWEsome” and “EPIC” his dances are going to be, maybe he’ll talk his way right into the watery depths of elimination. One can only hope.

Sweepster, they broke up and she moved on. So IF she never dated Brad Penny and Maks was the first to move on with Peta, Maks would be wrong to show affection to/with Peta around Karina ….I’m I reading you correctly? You know…if the “shoe” were on the “other foot”.
People can bad-mouth Karina all they want, but the fact remains that Maks has repeatedly publicly dissed her and encouraged his fans to harass her on twitter and facebook, and Karina tries to mind her own business publicly. A couple of times after they broke up she mentioned in interviews general reasons why they didn’t work out, nothing more. He was constantly bashing her.
She was what, obligated to never date again, so as to not upset Maks? That’s ridiculous. Why should she have been the one to quit the show that she obviously loves performing on? If he had a problem, he should have left. Neither she nor her fans go around whining that he shouldn’t be dating another dancer in front of her. They are each entitled to date whomever they want. Both of them, not just him. And they are both entitled to have the job they enjoy without being harassed.
It’s a shame he and his fans can’t just let it go, they broke up over 3 years ago. I can’t imagine the hostile work environment she’s had to work in for the last 3 years in order to do what she loves.
Oh, please – leave Karina alone!! Maks problems are and were Maks problems ..
She wasn’t still with him when she started her new relationship, right?
She could do, whatever she wanted to do.
Karinas and Maks breakup made him look very frustrated (in my opinion)- she definitively showed more class, kept her mouth shut and went on.

Are Apolo and Karina dancing first again for the second week in a row? I know no matter how well they do, even if they get all positive comments, the judges still will not award them a perfect score (what is dwts’ history anyway in giving out a perfect score to the first dancing pair? Not including the semis or finals, coz I think sometimes by that time, judges always dish out perfect scores to all contestants left.). At this point of the competition, Apolo can no longer afford to have “only” 27s. All the remaining contestants now have such huge fanbases who will power vote for their faves no matter what, that it’s now extremely important to be on top of the leader board (ok, maybe not necessarily be the top scorer, but definitely not second from the bottom!) each week from hereon. I really hope they will have a great tango and jive trio on Monday AND the judges will score them fairly. Shawn and Derek are dancing second to the last, I am sure they will have a great routine also, and for sure they will deserve any perfect scores that they will get, but I wish the judges won’t reserve their 10 paddles to the couples on the 2nd half of the show (most especially if these couples don’t really do anything short of spectacular!).

Katie, thank you for the heads-up! I sure hope that apolo and karina will not be dancing first! I think it is always more advantageous, score-wise, to dance during the second half of the show. The judges tend to hand out the perfect scores later.
Well all the couples are dancing two dances Monday, so I don’t know if order is considered an advantage or disadvantage at this point.
Good afternoon! This is my first time posting on this site and in fact, I just found it about two weeks ago. Very informative site:) y’all seem very knowledgable so here’s my question. First, I love Shawn and Derek, loved Derek with Jennifer and Nicole, and loved Mark with Shawn, Kristie, and Katherine. I know from following over seasons that Mark and Derek are more than best friends…they are like brothers. And Shawn seems to have a great relationship with both. So, I finally get to the question. It seems like folks on several of the boards keep trying to make some big jealousy, conflict thing about Mark dancing last week or Derek helping or read angst into their comments. Am I missing something? I think Derek was hurt, he wanted Shawn to do well, and he picked the pro he knew was as good as he was and cared as much as he did for his star.
I guess the DWTS viewers are going to enjoy watching almost all the couples this week. Everyone is happy with their pick and they’re having fun together. Especially Melissa, Shawn and Kirstie.
I know what I’m gonna enjoy.
The only shocking thing that can come out of Tuesday night is if Gilles doesn’t go home but when he does get eliminated you can come to the party. There’ll be cake..balloons…those little blower thingys that whistle and pop out….

@Amy: A perfect score HAS in fact been awarded to the couple that danced first. Stacey Kiebler scored the first perfect score in Week 5 for her Samba when she went FIRST (and I’m not just going off of what Wikipedia says because I’ve seen the YouTube video…she was definitely first). The Semi-Finals were still two weeks away in her season (Season 2). It’s not happened since then, however. But it just goes to show it’s not impossible.

I just wanted to add what you probably don’t know – when Maks was on the Russian Bachelor, they showed him and his family talking about their breakup with Karina, and Maks, Val and their mom were VERY bitter, and downright hateful. They badmouthed Karina and basically said that they never forgive. So, I can only imagine what she goes through when she works alongside both of them now. She’s the sweetest person and I wish her and Apolo best of luck, hope judges are more generous this time around!

@Tony thank you for the information that someone (Stacey) had received a perfect score when going first in her season. I did not remember that and was another person wondering why or if it couldn’t be done. One time is nothing and I am still mad at the judges for only giving Apollo and Karina 27 last week for their fusion. I remember reading on here how upset Karina was for them not being clear on what was expected. I don’t blame Karina for being upset. A friend of mine (doesn’t belong to any site) said it was because they went first and I was curious if it was a rule or what because it makes no sense to me. Sorry if this has already been discussed and I just missed it.
I so want Apollo and Karina to kill it and for the judges to be fair. Not that they have demonstrated fairness to me yet.

I hate when Len says it is not this dance, etc because when others do gimmicks, he does not call them out. Also people parrot him. Samba has African roots and think this song will make for an amazing samba. Even if it is not the samba as he likes it.

Melissa – totally agree. If Shawn and Derek had danced Apolo’s v/waltz, Len would give then a 8 or less. I loved Apolo waltz, but he did less then 5 seconds in hold, last season MAria did half of the dance in hold and Len wanted more, he has no standers, She call Shawn’s out for lack of hip action but Gilles a 9.5 for just stand there and pose. when it comes to Derek (or some people like Nicole, Katherine and now Shawn) he is always extra hard, so annoying.

Can’t really say I got a feel for who is going home.. Maybe Kirstie, but she has been a lot of publicity even if some folks are blasting her for helping the storm victims. Guess celebs are not suppose to pitch in. I think Kelly will go unless the judges give them great scores. Apolo is probably losing steam, so he might be in trouble. Not sure about the fan bases for Gilles or Melissa. Emmitt probably has the whole state of Texas voting for him. The next two weeks will prove interesting.
The only annoying thing about Gilles being eliminated is the all Shocking elimination thing, I’m pretty sure that the judges and the press will make a big deal at it and all that crap, but the true is that based on his dancing (I’m not even talking about the douche thing) he should be eliminated.

Now can someone who keeps whacking away at the writers on this site tell me what they have to gain by being ugly just to be ugly to someone. First, if they are nasty for nasty’s sake…they will lose readers. Thinking the site is growing. It’s not like they are getting paid for their opinions like some websites are paid, so that is another strike. I just don’t get it. There are not two sides to a fact. Nothing I have read suggests they are doing anything except passing along information from an inside source. As I recall I put myself in the corner last week for not documenting a source when I knew something about Derek…can’t remember what that was.

Perhaps I am less tolerant of this than I used to be because the election is finally over and I was subject to such horrific name-calling and cries of being a liar over my own personal situation. I am a Kirstie fan, but not necessarily a DWTS fan of Kirstie. I admire her for trying. I think however that the crisis caused by Hurricane Sandy is something NO ONE would turn down the publicity for in order to help them. I had many friends who lost everything in the Minot flood…their homes are no more. Josh Duhamel is from Minot, ND and he did his best to raise funds and talked about it anywhere and everywhere he could. If Minot had had numerous celebs helping them by raising money I would have been eternally grateful for my friends who I have seen desperate over the last 2 years. Maks is not my favorite pro, but I am glad people out there are helping, because there are people in need. Karina wanted to help, regardless of her past with Maks, that is great. When people break up there are hard feelings, and I think Karina has handled it with more grace. I sure didn’t see Maks or Val telling people, if you are sending supplies because of Karina, don’t. Again, such a silly issue…isn’t it more important people got help.
Well I reread this after Heidi’s comment about not telling people what to do and perhaps I crossed the line when I said you don’t have to read this site. Say what you may about the celebs and pros but leave the writers of this site out of it. Yes I know you all can take care of it yourself…but I am a caretaker…it’s that bleeding heart of mine.

Still thinking that Kelly with Val story line has brought a lot of interest in this couple and they are pulling a lot of voters because of it. Mind u I live outside the US and I heard people buying their stories and want them to win and get them married. Some of voters are even voting outside the US for them on Facebook.
I did like them the first two weeks, but the romance put me off, I think they didn’t need to play that card. Just let the dance speaks for itself.
Any way I didn’t like Gilles in his season and I was thrilled when Shawn won. I was supporting Melissa and Shawn in that season.

Reading some comments make me realize that Karina has as the British called Marmite effect. You love her or hate her. And she has the Julianne fans against her, that didn’t help Chelsie with Helio. I know Helio didn’t have a big fan base, but he is a charming bloke. She also has the sick Max fans effect.God knows what people are going to vote for.
Just by the song title, Melissa is going to get a 30 for her quickstep. She’ll probably get a 30 for her trio, too, since they’re propping her.

Do you guys know Vally’s songs? I googled it and checked many websites but seems like nobody knows yet there were a few speculations but Im not sure about them. Can’t wait to see Kelly and val in a uniform I guess Kelly/Val/uniform trio will top my leaderboard among the trios. Sometimes I wish I’d live in a country where I could see soldiers more often. I don’t know but there’s something magical about uniforms.
In my opinion, Apolo has been grossly underscored this season as well.
As far as whom is pulling in the most votes… I wish we knew! Could really be any of them, for all we know it’s Kirstie, and the way they are OVERscoring her, Watch out, she could sneak into the finals. Undeservedly, of course.

Is Kirstie REALLY getting crap for publicly asking people to help the east coast?? I’ve seen ONE person say that they thought she was going about it the wrong way – and he spoke from personal experience. He also was repeating what I had heard too – it’s better to send money than stuff. Period. And the Red Cross DID try to talk Romney out of his (fake) food/clothing drive. All true. So I don’t count that as “crap” – just legitimate questions. Someone responded that they had it all set up so it wouldn’t be a problem – all cool.
The only other thing I’ve seen is people giving Maks shit because he (as usual) took it too far and called out his fellow cast mates who he deemed as “not doing enough” – but he doesn’t speak for Kirstie. I would imagine that Kirstie is very well aware that “‘The charity that hastens to proclaim its good deeds, ceases to be charity, and is only pride and ostentation.” Or perhaps “I have come to the conclusion that charity is only charity when you give goods, services or money without personal gain, benefit or recognition of any kind. True charity is anonymous.” Kirstie is a very smart woman. In order to do “enough” she broadcast it so her fans could help – but I have a vision of her smacking Maks upside the head for his saying that in print. It makes both of them look bad. For one thing, he’s not the accountant of who does what, he has no way of knowing what others are doing unless they report to him (and why should they if they’re not members of “the family”?) and some people truly are NOT boastful. They do things quietly. For his comments he deserves a ration of shit – what other people do is none of his business. He’s not the caretaker of the entire east coast. But I think that Kirstie is organizing a movement and I see that as an entirely different thing. Some times if you want to make things happen on a large scale, you have to broadcast it – you have to SHOW others how it is done. But what you don’t do is sit back like an asshole and proclaim others aren’t doing enough.

Why would the dances be shortened, Carlos?? Cut out one couple, two pro dances and the extraneous stuff that went with the second pro dance and there should be plenty of time.
So Melissa tweeted someone saying she is dancing last 7 and 14. I don;t mind since she never went last. I like Melissa as a person, but if she gets overscore again I’m going to start get annoyed.

so that means the best that Apolo can get is 5th/10th since they would have to wedge at least one of the waltzes in front of Melissa’s quickstep.
I’m happy for Melissa. She, like Apolo, has gotten crap placement in the dancing order most of the season. I know that order isn’t as important this far into the season but I think most viewers would believe a “save the best for last” strategy by the shows producers and that does send a subliminal message, I think.
Why must everyone jump to conclusions about EVERYTHING, particularly when it comes to Maks? Quite possibly something went down or was said to him about so & so not contributing to Sandy? Maybe he expected his “friends” to do more because it affected him personally? Love him or hate him, one thing you CAN NOT take away from him is the fact that he has a huge heart and does try to help those in need.
As for he and Karina., I think we the public read way too much into all these tweets and comments. I don’t believe there is a lot of bad blood between them like everyone tries to make it out to be. I’m not saying they are best buds or anything, I just think they BOTH have come to terms with the past and have left it at that @ the past. Correct me if I’m wrong, but wasn’t the rumor that she cheated on him? I know if that were me, I would have a lot of resentment (as well as my family) but time does heal all wounds and I think it’s water under the bridge now.
Ok, enough about that and on to more important things……I sincerely hope Peta leaves enough bleach in that bottle to throw in my eyes! Our poor sweet innocent Chelsea thrown into THAT hot mess of a pair!

Since you have 4 waltzes, 2 Quicksteps and one Tango this week, if you ran the Tango right before the last Quickstep, they’d have 3 waltzes in a row at some point in the show. Am I thinking through this correctly?
I’m thinking the order could be #1 Waltz, #2 Gilles, #3 Waltz, #4 Waltz, #5 Tango, #6 Waltz, #7 Quickstep.

Emmitt’s trio is what sounds EPIC, Sandy. As for a winner never having gone last?? No idea. Someone will have to go to Wiki for that one. I would doubt it, simply because they natural tendency for the producers would be to put the person who’s getting a lot of love at the end at least a couple times. But this season being all stars, they all theoretically have fanbases and from a “good TV” perspective going first, at the top of the hour or last would be considered “good spots”. You want people who tune in at the opening to STAY tuned in. Lots of people surf at the top of the hour to see what’s on, so you want something good there as well. And then the end is self explanatory.

I think Shawn’s trio music is awesome. I have a friend who is a trained dancer(samba is her thing)who after listening, I thought we were going to have to give cpr to her. If there are no tricks and it is pure dance, I am thinking an epic dance. Of course Len will probably think having the band there(if that happens) is “frippery” and using props and probably not a true samba. I am prepared for him to pull a 8 to 8.5 and then I know I am going to want to reach in the tv and choke him(he is sooo on my nerves) I am so looking forward to this trio.

I’m still plenty worried for Apolo. Lower odds than Gilles? I’d be offended. Unfortunately, people are swayed by the judges who have done everything but announce that they’re shafting Apolo. I just hope that lift pictured here isn’t part of their jive. Why give Carrie Ann legitimate ammunition? If the judges are going to Ralph Apolo, let it rest of their shoulders. I wouldn’t give them an inch.
I would actually rather see Emmitt at the top with Shawn than either Gilles, Kelly, or Kirstie who don’t deserve to be there. Basically Kelly and Val have slept their way to the top, Gilles has been ridiculously overscored, and I’m not even sure what to say about Kirstie at this point.

i think Apolo has a lot of fans voting for him, so the judges underscoring him might be good thing because that will only make the fans vote for him more. the fans know when they see a good dance and when the judges are uderscoring someone unfairly. Either way, i think he is safe. To be honest, the only 2 i’m not worried about are Shawn and Apolo. in my opinion those two will be in the finals.
Emmitt? now, about him i have no clue whats goin on. i see he has the fans behind him, is it enough to take him to the finals? we should wait and see. i haven’t seen an improvement from him, and his dances are kinda boring. i used to love Emmitt in his season. i think if Emmitt makes it past tuesday, i think he will be in the finals (w/ shawn and apolo). however, i personally want him to go this tuesday.
i am a kelly fan, won’t lie (i know she is not most liked person here *lol*) and i know she has a boyfriend, and that her relationship with Val is showmance. i do think they have chemistry but they playing it up a bit, and lets not forget everything we see is because of this thing called: editing. out of all the stars i think she improved the most (along with Apolo). you saying Kelly’s trio dance is cute (coming from someone that is not her fan), means i’m gonna like that dance. i love Tony/Melissa and i think want them in the finals. Gilles needs to go. i was rooting for him at the beginning but now he thinks so highly of himself (this dance will shock you. it’s going to be epic. “it’s called karma”, along other things he says and does that just piss me off). I won’t be shocked if he makes it to the finals. the judges give him high scores when he doesn’t deserve it. i think he might not have a huge fanbase online, but he is still in the competition so he does have the votes.

What’s interesting is that Shawn, in my eyes, and many’s eyes, is a lock for the finals, meaning only 2 spots are available.
Now if by some reason 2 boys fill those spots, we still have 3 guys left in the competition, which means that at least one of them will have to be eliminated this week or next, if not 2 of them.
“Editing” is a very convenient excuse for a lot of people. But it is usually misused. The producers don’t make these celebs do stupid thing (over and over and over).

Tony, I think Melissa has been a tad over scored to keep her on JMHO. Kirstie was in bottom 2 once and who knows…when Sabrina went home, Apolo was NOT the bottom 2, so it could have been Kirstie, Melissa, or Gilles. SO far I think they only people with tons of votes every week is Shawn, Kelly, and Emmitt.
Maybe they have the best trio dance and they want that dance to end the show, so her individual dance would have to go last.
I think Gilles and Emmitt have been the ones most overscored, and Apolo the most underscored, but that is just my opinion. I’ve always felt that the one they’ve been trying to prop is Gilles, but I’m crossing my fingers that that’ll finally come to an end soon.

Whatever the reason is that she’s going last, I’m just glad she is because she’s danced in the first hour more of the season than not and has danced first twice. She did get a dance at the top of the second hour but has never danced later than that up until this week.

At this point I am probably most confused about Kirstie. Will she go this week or will she end up in the finals? I think Kirstie doesn’t care if she goes this week. She has other things on the back burner she wants on the front ones , like promoting her book and doing signings and she tweeted something about a new TV show?? If Kirstie goes to the finals we all know it is because of her incredible fan base. A couple things happened this last week and maybe they will cancel each other out or maybe not. Her book came out and I have read very good reviews from fans and I have read horrible things about her too over this book. Many people are mad about certain truths she spoke of and even the ladies of, you know, “that show” had a good day of trashing her. She may have lost a few fans. She also sent a semi load of needed items to SI to help Sandy victims. She may have gained a few fans. It may be tit for tat. And I don’t think Kirstie Alley cares at this point if she stays or goes.
Gilles makes me sick to even look at him now. Apolo I want in the final with Shawn. I like Emmit a lot but I know his dancing isn’t that great.My dream week, this week, would be for Gilles and Kelly to go home. I am sick to death of Kelly and Val. But, I also really think Kirstie may go. I am like lots of others with Melissa. I love her when she is dancing and like others she doesn’t stick with me. It is Shawn and Apolo that stick with me when the show is finished. I don’t know why that is because I do think she is a beautiful dancer so I have to blame Tony for it.
I can’t wait for this weeks show to start. I also love Tom more than ever this season. He keeps saying things that really make me laugh. The last was something he put on twitter and I have laughed for two days over it.

I’m not terribly concerned about Apolo in this week’s double elimination, barring some disaster in one if his dances. I still think he, Shawn and Emmitt have the largest fanbases that can carry them at this point in the contest. The following week with the next double elimination down to the top 3, that one I’m more concerned about if they’re still getting lowballed.
Of course, a disaster in one of his routines this week isn’t completely out of the question. It sounds like Karina is giving him hard tricks that could go terribly wrong. She’s let CAI’s unfounded criticism that she isn’t giving Apolo hard enough choreography affect her too much, I think. They aren’t getting credit for their hard choreography (their quickstep in week TWO was one of the hardest quicksteps I’ve ever seen on the show), so they might as well do easier choreo they know they can do cleanly. I think that’s the route Emmit’s been going this year, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see him in the finale.

If I remember correctly, “Angel” was also Melissa’s VW song in Season 8.
Nancy M, a drawback for Apolo and Karina doing easier choreography at this point, is that they WILL be docked since the judges know he can do difficult choreography. It’s a catch 22….. The judges (especially Len) seem to score some of the contestants on a MUCH tougher scale, maybe to try to get them angry enough to produce even higher quality dancing, so the scores seem low…. Then, if they start using easier choreography, they still get underscored, because the judges know they can do more difficult choreography.
Too true, Lori. Apolo definitely is in a catch 22 with the judges. But the audience might be more inclined to vote for a good routine done perfectly than a great, much harder routine with a bobble.

I think Shawn will be first because she hasn’t started any show if I’m right.
I don’t think Apolo and Karina’s music is as good as some of the other couples’. They’re not horrible, but both “Holding Out for a Hero” and “Greased Lightening” are a bit stale, and that worries me.
Also if Karina gets too “theatrical” with the “Greased Lightening” number or *gasp* uses a prop or two, Len will jump all over them. Of course, that might not be such a bad thing.
There are some potentially show-stopping performances brewing, and I can’t wait to see them. However, Apolo and Karina don’t seem to be in that group. So they better find a way to be memorable on Monday. Right now they’re at risk being this week’s forgotten couple.
As we stated yesterday, several of the songs have been used on the show before.
Talk about repeating songs, “bring me to life” for a paso again, third time, and “Hallelujah for a v.waltz again. But again they are great songs that match the dances well.
:::sigh::: Shawn has been second which is statistically a worse position that going first. I wish you guys would just get over the fact that some have gone early and others haven’t. At this point it just doesn’t matter.
Not a fan of Kirstie’s trio song, but LOVE her ballroom song. I have a feeling I won’t like the dance though cause I’ll be comparing it to the number they did on sytycd with that song.
If anyone has gotten screwed by song choice, it’s Kirstie – apparently she is getting completely winded & exhausted every time they go through their paso routine. It’s wayyyy too fast for her – I thought for sure they’d give “Bring Me to Life” to Melissa & give Kirstie “Rumor Has It”. Apparently not.
I think it’s interesting to see who got what danced for their trio – we’ve got Apolo vs. Kelly with the jive, Emmitt vs. Gilles for the salsa, Melissa vs. Kirstie with the paso doble, and then Shawn’s the only one doing samba. I daresay Shawn is probably a shoo-in for the finale, but as for the rest, you think they might be trying to separate the men from the boys by putting couples head-to-head in certain dances? I see Melissa easily besting Kirstie in the paso, Emmitt likely beating Gilles (as long as the judges aren’t scoring too much with their genitals), & Apolo probably beating Kelly, barring any huge disaster.
PH, I so agree with you. At this point, you might be worse off going last if you have dances before you that bring the house down and set the bar high. I think at this point, it is going to be on how well they execute and what mood the judges are in.
sorry, heidi #361… i was just asking. cause it’s 14 choreographies on 2 hours. on the 1st episode this season we had 13 dances just 1 minute long. Far from the usual 1:20-1:30. For me it would be not a surprise (on ballroom specifically).
I wish I could cut the “fat” from the show… (as I want stop recycling songs, etc.) hope TPTB do this this monday. =]

I respectfully disagree about the importance of the running order. You guys can’t really deny the fact that more people watch( and vote) the second hour which is a prime time ( proven by a numerous statistic data). And of course,judges are more generous with scores by the end of the show.This also is undeniable fact, I think.
Actually, Shawn’s not the only one that hasn’t opened the show you guys. Emmitt hasn’t either. I’d put money on Emmitt going first over Shawn. But if this trio is as amazing as Courtney has been saying it will be, then I would guess Emmitt will be later on.
Didn’t Kirstie get a slower than normal song for her Quickstep/Samba fusion? So she got a break then, and now isn’t getting one. But it isn’t like she’s getting a song that’s so inappropriate for Paso and has never been Paso’d to before. Others have been able to do it. I’ve enjoyed Kirstie this season but there is a time at which, look if you can’t keep up then maybe it’s her time to go. Correct me if I’m wrong but I think you guys said you were hearing that for finale week the finalists may have 4 dances to do. If Kirstie is having trouble handling two, how would she handle four?
I have to respectfully disagree with you Alicia. I think in a normal season in the first few weeks, running order does make a difference. I think all bets are off in this season. Celebs came in with established fan bases and frankly I didn’t care when Shawn and Derek were going to dance, I was going to see them. By the end of the season I think the fan base solidifies and people who watch are just plain watching regardless of where the celebs dance. And frankly, many people are voting before they even see their celebs and/or pro’s dance…or is that only me…come on now I know some of you are guilty too…lol!

I won’t go into all the reasons because I’m trying to avoid long comments (which I know a lot of readers find tiresome). I’ll just say that there seems to be buzz that several other couples have “epic” routines (not Lord Gilles), and no buzz about either of Apolo and Karina’s dances. That combined with recycled songs (and yes I know perfectly well that DWTS recycles regularly) leads me to a certain level of concern that if they dance well but not drop-dead amazing, they could slip off the radar for the vast majority of casual viewers who waits until the end of the show and then casts their 7 telephone votes for the couple who did the dance they liked best and remembered the most.
I agree with you Lynne. I am one of the guilty ones who vote for Shawn before seeing them dance. I think at this point if I knew I had a really great dance I would want to be out there sooner rather than later so that is what the judges are measuring against. Just my thoughts.

I think Apolo’s Jive song gives it a very good chance of being memorable. That’s a GREAT song, that can create a great storyline for the dance. Kelly’s Jive song is the one I think is harder to make memorable. I was really glad that Apolo didn’t get that one.
Sure, Lynne, I vote for my favorites before they dance all the time; and probably a lot of us who haunt this site do the same. Vote early, vote often. That’s our motto.
However, I just don’t feel we’re a very representative sample of the millions who watch the show (whom I describe in my previous post).
I’ll be-wow that’s the song Brooke & Derek danced their Waltz to in S7! It was a beautiful performance. Loved the ending when he twirled her toward her daughter & Brooke gave her a kiss… Love that song!!

If Emmit is 6 and 13, I have a felling that Shawn will open the show, I thought her trio was probably going later on the show, but wasn’t Donald the first trio last season, it was still the best trio of the night.

Yeah Donald danced first during trio week. Did not hurt him. He was memorable. If Emmitt’ is epic, Melissa might be hurt going after him.

Finally, Melissa will be dancing last! I thought they’d never put her on the last spot. I think Tony’s choreo is awesome. Team T-Croft’s dances are always memorable for me. I don’t forget them at the end of the night. Actually, I usually forget Apolo. I think Karina needs to step up the choreography. And I don’t think Melissa is overscored. I actually think she was underscored in first weeks. Gilles, Shawn, Kirstie and some of the eliminated couples(like Helio, Drew) were overscored imo. But not Melissa. Anyway, I think Shawn’s dancing 1st, then Apolo, then Kirstie, Kelly and Gilles respectively. Of course its just a guess(except for Kelly).
I think it’s gonna be a great night, we’ll see amazing routines from most of the contestants. I’m so glad that two of my favorites(Emmitt & Melissa) dancing back to back, I hope the judges won’t underscore them. And Jen, I don’t think it’s a problem that Melissa’s dancing after Emmitt. I’m sure she’s getting enough Texas love to keep her safe this week
. And I’m sure Henry and Tony choreographed a great routine for her and she’ll be amazing. Well, of course I may be wrong, so keep voting, just in case…
I don’t like “Greased Lightening” (I don’t like Grease period), BUT I think it’s a song that could be a great jive song. You have ready-made characters and storyline that the audience can easily follow. It all depends on the execution, of course, but I don’t understand peopl’s concern about the song in itself.
And I agree with the person who said that “Skin” was worrisome, and ended up being a great v. waltz. I was not optimistic about that dance based on the song, which in its entirety is terribly maudlin. But the performance and editing of the song really worked.
And god knows “Call Me Maybe” was a TERRIBLE song for a group number, but they made it work, one of the most difficult choreographic feats of the season, in my opinion. It all ultimately depends on the choreography and execution.
I am like many who would ideally like the finale to be between Shawn, Apolo and Melissa. I think Shawn is a shoe-in, Apolo has a good shot but isn’t a shoo-in, and unfortunately I don’t think Melissa has a chance of making it to the finale. I just don’t think she has the fanbase many others have, and Sabrina’s elimination shows that’s more important than judges scores and dance ability. I’d love to be proven wrong, though, and see all three in the finals. If not Melissa, I could live with Shawn, Apolo and Emmitt. He’s the least offensive out of the others.
Quite possibly the most annoying thing for me about Apolo getting low-balled and being put “in jeopardy” twice is that it seems to be making his fans excessively paranoid & fatalistic. Some of you are making my head spin with all the obsessing – “Ugh, Apolo’s song isn’t memorable, he’s in trouble!!!” or “Oh no, he’s not dancing last, he’s gonna get voted off!!!” or “I’m not hearing enough buzz about him, he must not be getting votes!!!” I think some of you are falling victim to your own pessimism, because I don’t think Heidi & I have given you any reason to be that scared – we said Apolo’s routine has better choreography & tricks (and a better song) than Kelly’s, we said he got a memorable tango song, and we keep telling you guys week after week that RUNNING ORDER ISN’T ALL THAT RELEVANT AT THIS POINT. Why some of you are still so worried is baffling to me – sometimes I think I could say that Deep Throat thinks Apolo has the greatest routine of all time and some of you would still go “Oh no! Then people will assume he’s safe and won’t vote!!! He’s gonna get eliminated WAHHHHH!!!” If you’re that worried, being a Debbie Downer and moaning about how he’s at a disadvantage is not going to help – you’re better off channeling the energy into creating more verified accounts to vote with. But I will say this: the fact that so many of you seem so worried tells me that a significant # of people do care about Apolo – and are motivated to vote. That alone should make you breathe a bit easier. It could be worse – at least Apolo isn’t a douchebag who has absolutely NOBODY leaping to his defense when we start complaining about his bad behavior.
I would definitely be more worried about Melissa than Apolo, between fan bases, overscoring and pimp spot, I think she is in more dangerous than Apolo, I’m not too worried about this week, I can’t say the same about next week.

We’ll never know whether the pacho would have earned higher scores later in the sequence. We do know that there was no constructive criticism. Apolo and Karina were given glowing critique, and then randomy hit with the nines. They’ve done it before to them too and I think that irrational behavior on the part of the judges is at least in part what is driving us fans batty.

LOL to Sally and Evaine!! To be honest my life is so crazy i havn’t even be thinking bout DWTS and therefore havn’t been positng alot but i’m excited for this week. Trio dances were suprisingly fun even though I prefer the instant dances. Courntey and Heidi always crack me up just being…themselves.
I can’t really see a Paso to an Adele song. I loved Melissa’s Paso in season 8 to Poker Face, seriously loved it and she looked hot too. 
But hopefully i’ll be suprised.

I realize the judges and their nonsensical scoring can drive everyone batty – but unfortunately, that’s nothing new, and that’s not something we can control. What we CAN control is the votes – so instead of just bemoaning the fact that Apolo’s not getting the scores he deserves, that time can be better spent creating more accounts to vote with. Time to be proactive instead of reactive. If after all the effort, Apolo still gets sent home? Then we all can sit around & whine together. I’ll even create a post that can be dedicated solely to whining about Apolo getting voted off. But he’s not gone yet – so there’s no sense in prematurely mourning him, or letting our fears become a self-fulfilling prophecy.
And that advice really applies to the fans of any couple – if you’re worried about them getting voted off, VOTE HARDER. Whining may temporarily relieve your frustrations, but trust me: keeping them around another week despite the best efforts of the 3 Stooges to oust them is FAR more satisfying

Off Topic ***I met Jenna & Barbara Bush today in a neighborhood close to mine as I was dropping off cleaning supplies to a drop off station. What lovely girls they are. They were helping hand out food & supplies to hurricane victims and even people wearing Obama/Biden shirts told them that even though they didn’t agree with their dad’s policies, they thought he was a kind, caring man who had to make tough decisions during his term. I love how people demand neutrality on a BLOG…by definition, a work of opinion. And really, by neutrality, they just mean “don’t talk bad about my favorite, because I’m not mature enough to process it without getting my panties in a twist and lashing out irrationally and generally just making an ass of myself.”
The ONLY thing that concerns me about Apolo and Gilles is that while this site definitely has a large Apolo following and nearly everyone hates Gilles, it reminds me of the William Levy situation last season when no one here liked him and he still ended up on the finals. Sure, he was overscored somewhat, but he still was getting enough votes to surpass better dancers or more likable personalities or more popular pros. WE may not buy into the crap that is Gilles, but is everyone else sick of it too? Also, Jaleel lasted waaaaay longer than he should have, given how icky he was from the start. Anyway, I just hope that my small concern is just that – small – and nothing of consequence and it has no impact on Apolo or any of the other celebs, all who I would rather see than Gilles at this point, unless Peta and he start putting together routines that at least make up for his smarmy character.
@Fig – The one consolation I can give you (and it might not be much, and this will probably sound strange) is this: despite us being exceptionally hard on Gilles (and I feel rightfully so) here this season, there have been VERY few people leaping to his defense. Even last season, when we were up in arms about William getting overscored & Cheryl going the sleazy route, trolls came out of the woodwork to defend them – and I don’t even think we were that hard on him. Ditto for Bristol in season 11, Donny in season 9, Chelsea in season 12, and Hope in season 13. We complained about all of them, and we got hit with an onslaught of trolls “defending their honor” because of it. But this season, with Gilles? Maybe 3 trolls doing the usual “you guys are such bitches! Gilles is amazing” spiel. That’s downright paltry, compared to all the trolls from previous seasons, and considering how many people here were excited about Gilles before the season began. That tells me that a) Gilles has turned a lot of people off with his behavior, b) not many people feel motivated to defend him, and c) he may not be getting the votes we think he is. I guess in my mind, if someone is crazy enough to still vote for Gilles after his downright douchetastic behavior this season, they’re probably crazy enough to troll the interwebs and make fools of themselves by defending him. As for the average viewer that doesn’t really get on the web – I still think his behavior is likely putting a lot of people off. Most of the ladies in my office have written him off as “slimey”, and are rooting for Melissa or Apolo to win. Mama Spence never really liked him to begin with – she’s pretty good at sizing people up in a short amount of time, and as she put it after watching his rehearsal package in week 1 “Something about him reads as phony.” Keep in mind, too, that he’s been relatively shielded from elimination by some cushy judges scores thus far…and now with Sabrina (the weakest voting link) already gone, and the judges not as enthralled with him as they once were, he could be in legitimate danger for the first time this season. Take it with a grain of salt, because its just me hypothesizing, but I don’t know that all the kooks at ABC boards claiming they’re voting hundreds of times for Gilles are representative of the whole…
…on a side note, I think these weeks with no elims are also throwing viewers into thinking people are miraculously lasting a lot longer than they really are in the great scheme of things. We’re in week 8 and we still have more than half of the couples that we started with left…so while sticking around to week 8 would be a huge deal in a regular season, it’s not so much this season, just because we’ve had two weeks with no elim, and we also started with more couples than we usually do. Had we had an elimination in week 5 and week 7, I think it’s entirely possible that Gilles would have been gone already. Food for thought.

Dang, my timing is just no good, so I hear the thrashing but never get to read the bashing. I did see a minor one today, and told the person I pitied her…lol! See this is why I like Derek, his seasons are typically drama free with the exception of “never a ten from len, until len find his zen” which is always about this time of the season. But, he doesn’t bash other pros, he always seems to have a smile, and rolls with the punches and HE IS DAMN GOOD AT WHAT HE DOES! This all makes for such a relaxing time watching him. And this season, what can you say about Shawn….she is just darling.
I agree Lynne. they are darling together and drama free. I am excited if they go first. With Derek not dancing last, I think this waltz will bring the house down and the song is so awesome. I’m looking forward to their trio. That song is awesome for a samba and can not wait to see what he has come up with.

Here’s the difference I see between Gilles and William Levy. Despite being driven nuts by how Cheryl sexed him up and the judges overscored him TREMENDOUSLY, I never dislike William the man. He seems like a pretty down to earth, pleasant guy with his head screwed on right. There is a huge distinction that always got missed by William fans who came here – I don’t think we ever hated William, just how Cheryl used him and the judges pimped him when he wasn’t even that great a dancer.
With Gilles – I can’t STAND him, the man, the person, that I’m seeing on TV every week. You may have heard me say this before…but he actually makes me want to vomit.
I also think that the judges have started to get real about him too – he’s not been close to the top of the leader board in what? Two weeks or more?? There’s been a bit of a drop off in the drooling. But he’s not that great a dancer either, the way Peta is working with him. Plus, she’s allowed him to take over. And from what I’ve heard, he’s not terribly popular behind the scenes either.
I just see enough of a difference between the two men (not to mention this is an all star season and William didn’t have as much competition) to HOPE that Gilles is gone sooner than later.

Does she really lack backbone or is it more a case of an inexperienced pro with a really overbearing celeb? I can’t get a solid read on Peta because we’ve only really seen her with Gilles and Donald Driver (who was one of those “dream celeb partners”, in my opinion).

Len usually says he does not think this felt like whichever dance is often because of the song. See Shawn’s foxtrot. That song already does not make ou think foxtrot but Derek and Shawn made it work. Maybe not n the traditional way, but t was a foxtrot. But to Len, he cannot get past the music IMO. I can see maybe he might be overwhelmed by the samba music but IMO that song connects to the African roots for samba. Hopefully Len can think a bit outside of the box, lol.

After reading the comments, I only have a couple of thoughts.
1) As a huge Karina fan, I’m glad I wasn’t around for most of that conversation.
2) I disagree that Melissa has been propped this season. She may not be as dynamic as some people, I agree with that. In my opinion, though, she’s had good, entertaining dances, one of the best attitudes about the season, and she’s just an enjoyable person. I’ve only seen one instance where I thought she was overscored, but I think most everyone has been overscored at least once this season, so I don’t think it’s special to Melissa.
I hope that she can stick around past this double elim. I’ll be voting extra hard for her.

The different between William and Gilles…..William you would want around because he’s kind, somewhat humble and easy on the eyes. Gilles you want around in case you accidentally swallow poison or a hazardous chemical.
The thing about Gilles as likeable as he used to be is now how douchengenous he is now. Don’t get me wrong. I used to like Gilles. I think at one point we all did. There was just a moment his true colors shined out really bright and it got old real fast.
The same could be said for any of the dancers with any said person. For instance, love Val. Was really into him and Kelly. And then it started feeling like we were getting forced fed how much they like each other. That in turn, turned me off.
Its all in how you want to be portrayed and Gilles obviously doesn’t care what his fans think because he’s not getting protrayed very gentlemnaly right now.

I have the same question. I can’t get a read on Peta’s personality and was wondering if any of the mods had personal opinions on what you may know of her that we don’t from just watching her on tv. I’ve been trying to give her a chance, being she’s fairly new, but I just don’t know what to make of her. I haven’t heard anything about Peta. And I don’t know anyone who knows her either. Courtney may. My personal opinion, based on nothing more than what you see, is that her choreo is going to shit and that she’s taking the Cheryl route which is relying entirely on sex appeal.
Princess Heidi he said it in their OTRC interview. I believe they were talking about how Loius used to be Val’s teacher and how Kelly has known him back from season one. Val, being Val because he has been hanging around Gilles a bit too much and having the sense of humor that he does spoke up and said he suggested a gay man because that would be the only way he would let another man dance with his Kelly Monaco. Then Kelly spoke up and said he’s kidding, he’s kidding. Then Val looked at the camera and shook his head.
See why I’m torn? At least it wasn’t as bad as the AH interview when she compared him to a high school boy asking a gilr to go steady. And if Kelly knew Val was goin to “propose.”

I believe I read an article or blog by Jane Seymour when she was on that the judges do watch the dress rehearsals and that is how they get their comments. She stated that during a dress rehearsal she lifted her foot and then Carrie Ann called her out on it during the show in which she believed she did not actually lift her foot. So I was under the impression that the judges watch dress rehearsals but I could be wrong.

The judges DO NOT see the dress rehearsal. Period. Buttercup has said this at least twice and we’ve never heard a reliable source say otherwise.
Absolutely not! The judges do NOT see the dress rehearsal. The crew and the other dancers and Brooke and Tom are there but there are FAKE judges standing in for the real judges. They use the same fake judges every week but they are just stand-ins. The only time the judges have seen the dress rehearsals is when they had to use the dress rehearsal tape to play live on the show because the couple couldn’t dance during the actual show.
And yes, Val and Kelly have been sticking to that stupid line all week – that they picked Louis because he’s gay so he won’t make Val jealous. Gag, their entire relationship and place on the show is now a huge joke in my eyes.
That’s just sad!!!
I guess liking or not liking Val and Kelly’s shtick is a case of different strokes for different folks, but they turned me off in Week 2, actually sooner than Lord Douchengenuou did. The latest comments here about Louis are a new low, even for them.

Yo, I think what people are talking about is that even in interviews one minute they are saying no then in the next Val says something like that. The snowball keeps getting pushed by the rehearsal footage and such. That and when people start making ship vids of them it just gets kind of….too much.
Val even put on his twitter as reply to one of his friends when he sent out a picture of him and Kelly if he was on that. If you don’t want people to get the wrong impression, don’t put it out there.
Love Val, was a real fan of Kelly but it has been a mixture of fellow Kelly fans and how they are pushing the showmance that is turning people off.
One way to keep a snowball from building is to stop it not push it along.
Of course they want the impression to be ambiguous, its a showmance, that’s the whole point.

I agree it’s all Kelly and Val are asked about but that is because they put it out there to begin with. Do they occasionally (although not for the first few weeks), when pressed, say they’re just friends, yes. But then Kelly starts in on their package last week with the, “What Val and I have is unexplainable and people kind of don’t know what it is and WE kind of don’t know what it is.” Gag. Who does she think she’s fooling. They can try and have their cake and eat it too but by Kelly trying to play to the fringe weirdos who don’t have a clue, they are also playing the mass of sane people as idiots. In the end they’re the ones eating it and looking stupid which is such a shame because they could have been themselves and probably gotten as far without annoying a lot of viewers, IMO.
I wish Val would have thought it through more because after Kelly is long gone, he has to come back and have viewers take him seriously but will they believe him?

It’s just that by sticking to it, they’re making themselves look stupid. Just from my pov. And I think that sucks for Val because he’s just starting a career and people will form opinions of him based on his words and actions (not just the showmance). But I think it annoys people so much because if they know the audience thinks it’s fake then why keep perpetuating it into the ground. Like I said before, i think soap opera Kelly is used to her shipper fans and it appeals to them. I could care less about her, she’s been around forever, unbeknownst to me but Val is just beginning.
Like I said before, I actually like that Shawn is going first, because I won’t have to wait much for see her dance, I just hope the judges won;t be afraid to get the 10 out for the first dance of the night. and the Trio, someone mention that Donald was the first trio last season, still the best one. I think this season it doesn’t matter who dances what and when. May it be first, last. Last week though I think the couples who danced towards the openong of the show had an advantage in the marathon bevause they had time to rest but that just me. For tomorrow and the rest of the season I don’t think there is really a we have the advatage spot.

A “big deal”?? It only really seems to be a big deal to Kelly and Val fans – they get upset when some of us don’t like that partnership anymore. That some of us are getting grossed out by it. one way to look at going first is they can set the bar high as well….if they do an amazing VW or an amazing trio….everything will be compared to it. We are getting down to 3 weeks before the finals- the judges shouldn’t be scared to throw a 10 out if they like a dance. We all know Len isn’t going to love it…now we need to see if he will at least give them a 9+ or not.

I certainly don’t think Kelly is manipulating Val, I know that’s how it came off though from how I wrote my comment. Val is a grown man who is playing along and that’s fine. I just didn’t get the impression from past interviews of him that he wants viewers to think he’s an ass and that the viewers are stupid because I don’t think the majority are buying the act but I don’t know him so whatever. I did see that interview with Val’s comments on Louis, whom was his teacher and he’s grown up with and as soon as he said it I cringed. Yes it was a dumb, off color thing to say and I think he knew it because he immediately tried to dial it back and say how great Louis is etc. which I know he believes. I am also new here this season. I love this site and come everyday whenever I have a few minutes to catch up. The Moderators do a great job and its so very informative but I have one question. I am reading things like if people aren’t going to read all the comments then they shouldn’t ask questions. I assume this means that if they had read all the comments the questions they asked would have been answered. The reality is, this post has 560 comments (some of them VERY long and containing many paragraphs) and surely you don’t expect people can read all of them before posting a question on the chance it has already been answered? It would be a full time job to read, in it’s entirety, every comment here. So what is the rule about asking questions and stating concerns that may have indeed already been answered multiple times?

So many things wrong with this one, I don’t think I will address any of them, other than to say that there are NO couples who lasted as couples, that came out of this show. None of the showmances that were pushed lasted, and most wasn’t real to begin with! And shippers can be terrible creatures.
I almost feel sorry for Kelly and Val, because as one “friend” on here today has shown, they’re in for what happened to Apolo and Julianne after their season and to Sabrina and Mark after their season…. Both of whom still have people insisting what they saw on the TV screen was real, and true. It’s very difficult seeing people tear others apart because the private life they’ve chosen isn’t what the shipper”fans” think is what they MUST HAVE.

Val and Kelly? It’s nice that they have a great chemistry, but in my opinion, sometimes it’s too much. The whole time touching and hugging each other. But that’s just how I see it, I can understand if people have a different opinion. I think a lot of people like this ‘love’ story. Are they just good friends or is there more? Just as last year with Derek and Maria. It’s funny that there are still some people (I saw some on twitter) who really think they are ment for each other. And when people are talking positive about Derek with Shawn, they have to compare their relationship with Maria and Derek: Maria is better, he likes her more, they have a better chemistry, he’s tweeting about her and not about Shawn. I really don’t understand why they are so busy with that

If this is all an act, which other than a very true friendship and chemistry, I believe it is, I sincerely doubt her boyfriend is that worried about it. She’s a soap actress and literally makes out with hot guys for a living. She has for years and years, and I’m sure these same fans that think it is real between her and Val think it was real with her co-stars. I 100% believe that the producers of the show love this angle. Look at how much attention it brings. What other drama does this show have this year, a year with low ratings, other than really good dancing? Sadly, really good dancing isn’t enough. They probably also love all the stuff Kristie said this week about her affairs with patrick swayze and john travolta. Why did they even BRING bristol? They want people talking about the show, however they can get it.
It doesn’t seem that Luis is that concerned about Val’s comments. He’s said nothing but incredibly good thing about him, and Kelly too for that matter, all year long and he seems like he’s really excited for the dance tonight as well. I am too!!

It doesn’t matter what’s going on with this showmance, because next season there’s going to be another couple getting bashed for another showmance. Same discuss will happen again.
It matters to me, Princess Heidi, thank you. And I’ve seen him in interviews where he was more effusive with his praise of the two of them than he’d need to be if he did not truly like them both. I would point to the AfterBuzz interview he and Sabrina did a few weeks back as one piece of evidence. He talked about how big a fan of Kelly he is and how long he’s been a friend of hers and that he really loves her and went on to talk about how impressed he is with Val’s protective nature towards her. In my opinion, that type of language goes beyond mere professionalism. His words and facial expressions when discussing Gilles perhaps would be an example of being professional.
But that’s just my opinion. I’ll change the subject to something we probably both agree on. Derek and Shawn deserving to win. Do we know what song they are dancing to for their V. Waltz?

Just because the object of an offensive comment isn’t offended (and we don’t know that he wasn’t – he could very well have been and got over it), the comment isn’t rendered inoffensive – it still shows a degree of bigotry and ignorance, in my book. My friends have offended me from time to time – I don’t stop being their friend, but offensive comments don’t lose what made them offensive in the first place. It doesn’t work that way.

Does anyone know what is on tap for next week dance wise? I guess I am in the minority but I like the standard and Latin dances better than trios, theme weeks, etc.
I see why certain people gravitate towards people like Kelly. I know I’m not supposed to go there, but it all becomes a little too much sometimes.
If that comment made about Louis is true, smh. I do not care if Kelly or Val are friends, close etc., it is offensive IMO. It is like people who say racist things and then say, it is ok. My BFF is of this ethnic group/ race etc. somehow makes it okay. It does not.
As for showmances, not sure if it works since most couples who had showmances never won. I just find it too much. It is one thing when fans may ship a pairing like Julianne and Apolo since they had great chemistry. But it is like starting with the contemporary week, they dialed it up to like eleven. It is not fun to watch. Kelly is not drama free like Melissa or fun to watch like Apolo or Emmitt for me. Or most improved since her season, Shawn. Oh god, Chelsie last tweet make me feel so bad for her, poor thing. I think this will be the first and last time that Chelsie shows her stomach, I don’t think she is very happy about it.
I know running order doesn’t matter, but I worry about the couples (especially the ones that I like) going first. They seem to be lowballed with the scores and they seem to be forgotten about by the end of the night. So, hope things go well for Shawn and Derek.
Me, I’ll watch them first, flip to The Voice, and then flip back when it’s time for the trio dance. Not watching Melissa get propped and get the first perfect 60 of the season.
#628 No one likes to see their faves go first and potentially get lowballed on scores but everyone needs to take their turn going first and Shawn hasn’t yet. I really don’t think she’s in any kind of danger of being eliminated tomorrow so she may as well get it over with this week. Melissa who you feel is being propped has had to go first twice already this season.
Oh my goodness…I am no longer a troll virgin…I saw the posts…they were hateful and they all came from the same IP address…oh that is rich!!I am amazed at the lengths people go to, although human behavior should not surprise me at all. Perhaps at the end of this posting….we should have a wake for the crazies that came, that ranted, and now have joined others in that deep dark placed called PDWTS banned cave of darkness…lol! I don’t think Gilles getting as many votes as William. William was very popular, he had fans in a lot of countries. If he danced a little better perhaps he’d finish 2nd.
Ugh! I just remembered season 14, the judges’ scoring were weirder than ever. It was the first time I was totally convinced that the judges are producers muppets.
And I don’t believe that the judges don’t watch dress rehearsals. Maybe they don’t go to dress rehearsals but I think they watch the tapes before the live show.
Princess Heidi, I think Shawn is overscored. For example, I don’t think her mambo deserved 10, her rumba didn’t deserved 10, her cha cha didn’t deserved 10. And her quickstep didn’t deserved 9.5. They say if you break hold we’ll deduct a point. But they actually find the dance amazing because of the out of hold tricks and lifts. So, deducting a point doesn’t mean a thing. At the end, you’re actually giving it a much better score because of the rule breaking. If they’d just score the quickstep its 8.5 max. Her fusion deserved 10s though, I admit that. Don’t see anything “unreal” with my comments…
I don’t think it’s that easy like “if they’re getting the votes, they’re popular, so producers want them around”.. Sure, sure, that’s why they did the winner takes all cha cha in season 12, right? I’m sure they would love to see Ralph or Hope in the finale. Nah, I’m not buying it.
Honestly, I didn’t expect you to agree with me. I still think Shawn is over scored most of the time. We’ll agree to disagree I guess.
So, the ballroom was shortened… as I thought.
Okay, I just have to vent a little – during Kelly’s dance, I thought that her movements were rather jerky – with pauses instead of continuous movement – and I thought that it would be so annoying if the judges praised her fluidity. And what do you know – *that’s* what Carrie Ann praises. I agreed with Len – too jerky.
And if Len chooses to give Gilles his (Len’s) first ten of the night…grrrrrrr
Can’t believe Len gave him a ten. I want to strangle that man. Only gave Shawn 9.5. I want to strangle him. Just venting
Sigh. How did I know that Len was going to dock Shawn and Derek for not enough “in hold”?
On the plus side, I ventured over to the ABC website and browsed through the live forums. Courtney was right when she said Pure readers are not the only ones who are extremely annoyed with Gilles this season.
#635 I know!! When Karina and Apolo had as much or less in hold, and got a ten (not that I’m complaining about their ten – I thought they deserved it; I’m just complaining about Len’s lack of consistency).
Ijust have to vent betw. voting…sooo maddening they are cutting these ballroom routines short..You can tell couples feel rushed and Shawns, so beautiful but I have gotten a zillion calls from ppl saying they didn’t even see hers. The messup with the commercials in the beginning nd all. Just so bad on a double elim week mixed with these assinine judges !!
Finally Apolo is scored fairly.

Shawn & Derek & Mark’s samba trio? Loved it. I knew Len wouldn’t like it, but that criticism was, as Tom said, “a bit harsher than I expected.”
Did you all see Corky Ballas’s tweet…he had a few things to say to Len…lol…I loved it. I haven’t said much about Len in the past…except he seems to grade Derek harder than anyone…but after tonight…Len must go…he is old, obnoxious, and can’t seem to change with the times. His comments were out of line and frankly as the Taylor Swift song says is just plain mean.
@Lynne – Speaking of Len…. WTF, He gives Gilles a 10, when both Bruno and Carrie said he lost timing… And what’s with his mouth when he dances, why isn’t he called out on that.

I agree with you Sandy…I swear Len is just plain jealous of Derek…I have thought it for several seasons and now it is proven.
So, I’m not a big fan of Corky Ballas, but I have to say that I really appreciated his tweet – thanks for mentioning it Lynne!
Len’s remark to Shawn was totally uncalled for. Only good thing is that if you look at the other boards, people are voting for her because of it. Hopefully she will make it into the next round. Knew Melissa would get 60. I could strangle len.
I can’t wait to see this week’s Power Rankings.. and what Courtney has to say about the judging and the dances. I just can’t figure these judges out. This season screams a hidden agenda, if you ask me.

Tonight was just non sense, Len gave Gilles two 10′s, WTF.
I loved Apolo waltz (one of my favorites this season), I counted less then 4 seconds in hold in normal 1:30 dance, Len gave a 10, and Apolo deserved, but Shawn danced actually more in hold in a 0:55 minutes routine, and Len dare to say that it didn’t have enough in hold. ARE YOU KIDDING (Apolo deserved his 10, but so does Shawn, Len needs to find some standers).
Len is so rude to Shawn. The word “If you go home don’t blame me” is totally unnecessary.
I’m wondering if TPTB really want a non-champion in the finals, and it’s getting obvious that Kirstie won’t make it, and that Gilles is self-destructing (votes wise), so they’ve started trying to get Melissa to the top. Pure speculation. And I think Melissa deserved her scores tonight, so I’m not knocking her. It’s just the scores tonight were so predictable. Irritated with Len’s overscoring of Gilles, and underscoring of Shawn. Happy that Apolo *finally* is getting some appreciation.
Kelly was ridiculously overscored on that hard V. Waltz – ridiculous. Gilles lost time a lot, and Melissa did as well. But the over scoring of Melissa actually worries me a good bit, plus Len said very nice things to her – similar to what he said to Sabrina before she was eliminated.
Yeah, Corky’s tweet sounded like a thinly veiled threat.
I don’t much like Corky, but I appreciated his tweet. Apparently, Shirley said that Len was REALLY out of line.
I gotta give Carrie Ann her props tonight. Thank god she had her head screwed on correctly tonight.
Shawn is call out for lack of samba content, But how Gilles and Emmit standing while the two girls danced around them is ok? Kelly was so out of time in her jive, and Melissa had no attack on her paso (love her , but como on, 30 for that), and all this people got 10 and 9.5. Does Shawn’s execution doesn’t counts for anything, because Kirstie can just walk around like a crazy woman and still gets a better score than Shawn.
And Apolo who actually deserved his scores still is second from the bottom.
This is crazy, makes no sense.
Sara #602, no, they never dated, and I know that Sabrina and Mark did… That’s one thing that I don’t understand about their shippers….. First, not sure I understand shipper mentality, and I don’t want to. But no, Apolo and Julianne never dated, but there were STILL quite a few shippers, this many years later, who thought that they were “soul mates.” I have seen some tweets from some who were furious with Julianne because she wasn’t dancing with Apolo.
I guess it’s just that there are some couples who will forever be stuck in shippers h-e-double-hockey-sticks………..

On a normal season everything seems to be called out, the lifts, the flicks, the kicks, and the awkward faces, and we all remember Ralph’s “creepy hands”… This scoring is outrageous.
Somebody pointed out Apolo’s placement. These scores are tight, not sure how much of a difference a point or two will make.
Someone said that when Henry held Melissa’s leg up and turned her it was a lift…didn’t watch her dance…I was voting…but that’s the “buzz” lol.
I remember Len giving Mark a “5″ for he & Chelsea Kane’s season 12 jive. he wasn’t happy with Mark & Chlesea’s Paso either. Perhaps he’s more annoyed at Mark…bad influence lol.
