DWTS Tony Dovolani Hurt His Back In Rehearsals, Unknown Whether He Will Dance Monday
Not much is known for what exactly happened in rehearsals Sunday for Dancing With The Stars, but, it appears pro dancer Tony Dovolani hurt his back. It’s unknown at this time if he will be able to dance. @DancingABC at twitter will keep us posted. In the meantine, Dancing With The Stars troupe member, Henry Byalikov, is prepping to stand in for Tony Monday night!! More below in these tweets…
This is sad!! Please send your positive thoughts and prayers to Tony and all of them! We’ll update this post with more information as soon as we know more.
ETA1: Below is a new rehearsal interview with Tony and Melissa. This was filmed before Tony’s accident. They talk of Cheryl Burke and the possibility of her doing The Bachelorette. They also discuss what it’s going to take to win Dancing With The Stars and more. With that said, Henry has tweeted that there is no word yet (at the time of this update) if Tony will be ok to dance tonight. Tony also tweeted that he is currently having an MRI done.
ETA2: Tony just tweeted. Sounds like he’s going to go ahead and dance tonight despite having a severe sprain….

Oh no! Tony, my man, feel better soon Bro! Wishing him the best
i am sending all my prayers to him because he just seems so excited and happy this season. i love tony and would really like to see him dance again with melissa!
Hope it’s not serious. what a devastating end to the season this would be for him!
Wishing for a quick recovery
Poor Tony. I hope he is able to continue on and make the finals. The team of Melissa and Tony has pleasantly surprised me this season. Sending thoughts and prayers his way to mend quickly, I hope it’s is not too serious.
Oh, no! I’m sure Tony’s devastated.
Hope it’s not something major and he’s able to dance tonight. AT will be super-hard on his back, though, and I don’t want him to hurt himself even more! Poor Melissa; Henry’s great, but it will be tough doing AT lifts with a different pro since they haven’t had a chance to perfect their timing.
Sending waves of positive energy and good thoughts their way.
Any idea of how the stand in thing works? Like, do the pros have someone shadowing them the whole time, in case someone has to step in at the last minute? If not, how do they learn the dance, if the pro is incapable of even teaching it? Maybe the show figures that an injury won’t ever be serious enough to where the pro can’t at least talk their way through the routine for the person stepping in, right?
Most of the pros can step in and learn choreo very quickly. I don’t think it’s the choreo that’s the problem. It’s like Shawn said – Derek and Mark “feel” very different from each other when they dance, just how they move, etc. I think that would be the tough adjustment part on Melissa, more than Henry having an issue with the choreo.
My, my all of this drama.
I hope Tony feels better! And great interview – I think they’re in such a great place (other than the injury) and I love watching them together.
Well, the drama is warrented, don’t you think Amber? After all, Tony could be seriously hurt.
In case you haven’t heard, Tony will be dancing tonight. More in first post. xx
LOL oh please Amber, your idiocy is showing – in case you forget, both Shawn and Derek have been injured this season and Derek had to sit out an entire week. And Kelly has been more drama than dancing all season, trying to coast by on a fake showmance.
+1 Buttercup!!
Amber, I think your comments are mean. Sorry, but, you won’t be making posts like that again here.
Awww, and niether will all of your sock puppets. Sad to the extremes some will go.
Yay! You go, Vogue – our steel fist in a very fashionable velvet glove :mrgeen:
