Tristan MacManus Interviewed About His Dancing Career, Dancing With The Stars, And More
Steph Pham and the gang of “DWTS behind The Curtain” are back with another video interview. This time they interview pro Tristan MacManus. They start by talking of a charity fundraiser he’s helping with on January 26th at Princeton Academy. He also discusses dancing and how a dancing career came to be for him. If it weren’t for a year or two off from it, he wouldn’t be dancing right now. The time off made him realize how much he loved it. More below including his thoughts on Dancing With The Stars, dancing with someone funny (I agree how someone who is funny would suit him perfectly!), keeping things fresh for himself, choreographing, and more. You’re right, he’s so cute. I hope he gets a good partner next season. Lucky people going on the cruises he was talking about with Holland America or whoever it is. And the Ballroom with a Twist shows. Have the pros always done these things off-season? I never noticed before, except for the tours they used to have after the seasons.
He said he wanted a funny partner – Any ideas? Sarah Silverman’s my favorite but I don’t know if she’d do DWTS. Ellen DeGeneres? Wanda Sykes? Amy Sedaris!
@Gail..LMAO have you EVER seen Ellen DeGeneres in a dress? Let alone those skimpy costumes, that would be a riot. I doubt she’d be up for that, hahaha. But I would actually love to see her on DWTS. She does have some musicality to her. For however long she’d last in the season, we’d all be ROFL. Hilarious!
I agree Girls! Ellen would be a hoot. She’s got the moves too. I can’t see her in a dress though (lol..well except for a funny dance), but, they could put her in some really classy suits so she’d be taken seriously for the competition too. Another fun partner for Tristan would be Kathy Griffin!
Ugh! Sorry Vogue, maybe it’s a generational thing, or just me, but I can’t stomach Kathy Griffin. Something about her has always rubbed me the wrong way. Don’t know what it is, but I would hope not to see her on a weekly basis. I’m probably gonna be outnumbered on that choice, but I’m sure there are much better choices out there for Tristan.
I love Kathy Griffin! I find her non-PCness, her earthyness, her I don’t give a damn mouth kind of refreshing.
And yes, I’m a retired woman here. I will say, however, her schtick will get old fast, I think, on a show like DWTS. If we could get the genuine Kathy behind the comic, it might work. But I do enjoy her – I loved her on New Years Eve with Anderson Cooper.
I would love Kathy Griffin too!! But I think she’s got a new show on Bravo or something? so she’s probably too busy but she’s what they need to shake up this show!
I’d love Ellen, too – maybe they could let her wear non-traditional outfits
I’m still pouting about what happened with Pamela, but she just got kicked off first on Dancing on Ice. I was on a British messageboard and several posters here think it was ‘planned’ that she went out first, and now I’m so suspicious about what happened on DWTS.
It was so unfair to Tristan, her not practicing, but I have a feeling that the non-practice was just as planned as her ouster from DoI – in a Danceoff, which she flubbed because her dress slipped won, but someone on that board said that looked planned too. The skimpiness of her bodice on those boobs, and he dipped her backwards, well duh! I don’t see how they could have stayed in that outfit!

Dang, I was so hoping Pam would do good on Dancing On Ice!! I love her! With some time and practice, she can dance too… look at she and Tristan’s finale number. She seems to have the worst luck on these dancing shows. Thanks Gail for filling us in.

But I thought she was pretty good in her Cha Cha with Tristan too, other than looking scared. I think the girl can dance (and skate), but oh well. If the vote is legit, I guess she doesn’t appeal to most of the audience as much as she appeals to me.
Had a blast talking to Tristan, we actually had a chance to chat with him abt 15 minutes before we went on air and he is way too funny. Sucks that we never get to see that part of him on the show. I told him that we (dmitrydreamteam) saw him walking down the hall in vegas while we were waiting for Dmitry and didnt realize it was him until it was too late. He said I remember and I said sure Tristan, he said really, you were with another young lady and i heard you say oh my that was Tristan, i just about swooned…lol Such a charmer
Thanks Gail, I thought that dance in the link you provided was beautiful. Why did that one judge give her only a 3 something? Sad!
I don’t understand the 3.5 – that was beautiful. Pamela was in 3rd place out of 6 on the leaderboard. The other person in the dance-off at the end scored three points below her. I guess they score pretty low, in general (the scores were 24, 21, 18.5, 17.5, 16 and 15.5) But if they combine them like we do, she must have done poorly with the votes. On DWTS, she was 2 whole points below everybody else, and with the half points, that was quite a lot. (which also makes me believe that DWTS wanted her out)
And Maria, you were great! Stephanie did a super job organizing it and Jenn was great as well. I would have been a nervous wreck! I think Tristan is so charming in these things because he’s so sweet and humble. I hope he’s back with a good partner! He deserves it after having Pamela who couldn’t practice!! That’s cute that he remembers you from that brief encounter!
I really enjoyed listening in to Tristans interview on DWTS Behind the Curtain on Sunday!! He was sooo funny, a real great guy. I hope he gets invited back as a Pro on Season16 & gets a good partner that will take him deep into the competition!!! It was interesting to hear what he does on the off season!
I want Ellen Degeneres to do the show. She’s already said she doesn’t want to because of the dresses. I think she should wear somethibg similar to Erin Andrews’ v waltz dress thing. The were like pants but they were kind of ‘disguised’ as a dress. Ellen could wear those and for the other costumes such as cha cha, maybe wear a skirt with shorts or something underneath?
