DWTS Peta Murgatroyd, Derek Hough, And More Attend Safe Haven Premiere And After Party
Last night, Dancing With The Stars Peta Murgatroyd and Derek Hough graced the Red Carpet at the Safe Haven Premiere in Los Angeles, California. Not sure about Peta, but, Derek also attended the “Safe Haven” after party at The Terrace At Hollywood & Highland in Hollywood, California as well. Peta is stunning in a pink chiffon dress while Derek is so handsome as always in a black and white suit. Also, Access Hollywood interviewed Derek Hough on the Red Carpet. He talks of his new projects which he can’t reveal any information about yet, but, he’s excited. Derek also reveals he’s not sure he’s returning for the Spring season of Dancing With The Stars, but, he might return for the Fall season (For selfish reasons, I hope so. I want to see him dance as much as possible and I just can’t imagine the show without him.). You’ll be to catch that interview and others at Pure Derek Hough. Miss Heidi has the goods! What is it with Derek and this show? He says he loves it…but dude, it’s time to leave it. The way I heard the interview was that he won’t be on Season 16 (and this was confirmed by one of the After Buzz ladies who was at the premiere and spoke to him) but might be back Season 17. Just say no, Derek.
Of course, a couple Derek fans pointed out that this was how Julianne talked before leaving and never coming back, so…it’s possible he’s just hedging his bets. Since he said (re: his other projects) that he won’t say what he’s doing in case it ends up not working and he ends up with egg on his face, he could deal with DWTS that way too.
I think that Derek is, by now, savvy enough about the world of show business, and that he may simply want to leave DWTS with the door open in case things don’t quite pan out as planned. Though I’d rather he moved on to better projects, he has to pay his living expenses at some point, like every one of us, and I’d rather he did something like DWTS (which puts him on television in prime time), even if it’s not the ideal proposition, if he hasn’t got anything lined up at that particular time. I wish him well, but the world of Hollywood is uncertain enough that he needs to keep all his options open.
Better be safe than sorry, as it were, and keep a plan B firmly in place in case plan A doesn’t work.

And Derek, oh Derek, please, please, never return. Spread your wings and fly….. Onto bigger and better things.
I don’t think there’s anything to worry about, I have a feeling he’ll pull a julianne and NEVER return. But in all seriousness he needs to either be on the big screen or broadway, not this shit show… He’s so much more talented than he thinks he is …
Problem is, EL, is if you have the option of DWTS you might take it at one point which could close the door on another opportunity. You have to have an open schedule in order to schedule other things.
I think he is absolutely just hedging his bets like Julianne did, but who’s to say she wouldn’t have returned if Seacrest hadn’t come along. Derek probably won’t have that kind of safety cushion. I’m betting he’ll return unless he gets a break on Broadway where he would absolutely shine.

Well, he said yesterday that he sold a pilot to a network, so he definitely has a lot going on that we don’t know about. Of course, selling a pilot to a network doesn’t mean it will get picked up. But I have to say…is there anything this man can’t do?? He’s also working on a live show with Julianne. Julianne said this morning that he can teach himself to play any instrument – just pick it up and play it. She said he plays them all, acts, sings, dances…and now is producing television.
Interestingly…he also took vocal coaching on Sunday to “learn a song” with Idol’s vocal coach, Michael Orland. This boy has a lot of irons in the fire and just plain keeps his mouth shut. If it weren’t for people around him we would never know anything until it appears on TV. Why does one “learn a song”?? Broadway audition? Movie audition? What? He makes me nuts.
ETA: Orland said he’s a fantastic singer and needs to do an album.

I’m so hoping he does Broadway and an album. Broadway=good excuse to go back to New York and of course to see Derek in person.
I can’t think of another person who is so “close mouthed” about what they are up to but that does seem to be his thing.
