US Weekly Reports DWTS Maksim Chmerkovskiy And Peta Murgatroyd Have Split
Oh man, I am sad on this (if true). US Weekly is reporting that after 10 months of dating, Maksim Chmerkovskiy and Peta Murgatroyd have split.
Insiders say Chmerkovskiy ended the romance two weeks before Valentine’s Day — and one week before New York Fashion Week, where he was spotted hanging out with other girls. The reason? “He wasn’t feeling her anymore,” a source says of the notoriously hot-tempered dancer, who was previously engaged to fellow pro Karina Smirnoff. (He was also linked to his Season 10 partner, sportscaster Erin Andrews.)
Murgatroyd, for her part, “didn’t want it to end,” another insider tells Us. “It will be very heated between them when the [new] season starts in a few weeks.”
Us Weekly broke the news of the couple’s relationship in May 2012. At the time, a source told Us that the two were “really happy together.”
With them not pictured together lately, I just figured both were on opposites sides of the country right now doing different projects. Whatever the case, I wish them the best!!! I especially feel sorry for Peta!
It’s been obvious for awhile they aren’t together anymore. It was also obvious from the start of the relationship her feelings for him were much stronger than his were for her.
We’ve seen the man’s temper on TV… I think she can do better personally. You can be hot and have a lousy personality…which Maks does. To get involved with your coworker like that, not the smartest thing especially if he wasnt sure.
I think Peta comes off as a really nice person and she deserves a nice guy, which maks for the most part isnt.
Oh Boy, Honestly, I kind of had a glimmer of hope for these two. Well, let’s hope that this breakup is handled with diginity and respect for one other. You hear that Maks!
My sentiments exactly Sandy! Like with Damian and being the class act she is, I don’t think Peta will say a word. The best thing to do is neither one say anything about it and not let it get ugly and play out in the press like what happened with Karina and Maks.
The stupidest thing is…after how he acted with Karina and how that affected them on the show, would YOU get involved with him?? Talk about a career risk.

I’m suspicious of the comment “it will be very heated…” Like all this was planned from the start, or something. And I don’t like them printing that it was his decision and she still wants him. I don’t believe it either.
Before she left Australia over the Christmas holidays, Peta tweeted something like, “Making this decision is killing me!” I think he may have asked her to marry him and she said no. What other “decision” would be so dire?
I found it. Peta Tweet on December 27: “I’m literally dying making this decision …”

If he had done that, Gail, he would already be crucifying her in the press. He doesn’t take rejection well.

Well I am curious to see if Maks has learned anything at all since his breakup with Karina. This could be his defining moment, either we will witness the exact same A-Hole Maks, or a new and improved, learned his lesson, standup mature kind of guy Maks.
I agree with PH though, who would ever “go there” with Maks. I guess some people see him as HOT, but I see him as “ew Gross”.
Not a big surprise. However, I hope Maks is mature enough this time around to not make it everyone else’s problem if they’re both cast on Season 16.
Always thought Peta was nuts to get involved with him after what happened between him and Karina. Yeah, she wasn’t around when that all went down; but surely someone clued her in when the two of them startede getting serious.
Fishing off the company pier is never a good idea. Maks and Peta both should have known better.
I wonder how intense will the tension be on the set of season 16, after all he’s got 2 women that aren’t too pleased ( maybe??) to see him. And the way the “family” behaved towards Karina wasn’t that cool… a drama
for sure. This is one way to get people to watch. Hope the “stars” are good this time.
I hope this doesn’t affect Peta and Val’s friendship because I loved watching them dance. I would love Peta to get back with Damian but that probably won’t happen they were so perfect for each other!
Grant, I love when Peta and Val dance together too. I loved her and Damian as a couple as well. Hey, you never know? I’m a firm believer in all things are possible if two people are meant for one another.
No one knows the truth of what happened except the two of them so we should not be quick to rush to judge either of them. Why feel the need to assign blame or make someone the bad guy? If it’s true, it’s sad for both of them, period. And it saddens me that people seem to be just waiting and looking forward to some drama. I hope you are disappointed and the season is drama free.
Susan, there is an old saying…”those who ignore history are doomed to repeat it.” By the same token – we aren’t just waiting and looking for drama. There is HISTORY here; see Maks and Karina. So which is more worse, really?? Ignoring past history or remembering history and wondering if it will be repeated? The real shame is that Peta didn’t learn from history.
Of course I don’t know how accurate the article is but it wouldn’t surprise me if Maks did the dumping as Peta always seemed much more into Maks than he into her. If that’s the case, I don’t expect drama from Maks this season simply because he wasn’t the one being dumped. Karina is the one that rejected him and Maks was still taking digs at her this past season. I give Peta a pass for choosing to date her co-worker as she was only around 25 or so at the time but Maks…….he’s done this a time (Karina) or two (Cheryl) and is a few years older.
Given Maks’ immaturity for his age and slow rate of a learning curve, I’ve got Val pegged as married with at least one child before Maks gets close.
This is hardly surprising. Anyone (except Peta apparently) could have predicted this would eventually happen. The fact Maks was still so blatantly obsessed with Karina and taking digs at every little thing she did this past season and summer showed he isn’t over her, and you can’t really give your heart to your current girlfriend if you’re still obsessing over a past girlfriend.
I don’t believe there will be any drama, though (unless Peta is very different from what she’s seemed to be so far), only because Maks did the dumping. If he was the one dumped there would be fireworks galore because his ego can’t handle being rejected.
I don’t give Peta a pass because of her age only because Maks’ ugly history was right in front of her face. It’s not like there’s any way she was unaware of his ugly behavior towards Karina after their break-up. I feel sorry for her, but at the same time I’m kind of disgusted at her for being so stupid.
#19 Susan, I agree your post for the most part. These are two people who decided to end a relationship…hopefully, they can work together without any animosity in the coming season of DWTS. When it was first announced that they were dating, I was hoping they would keep it private, just between them, and not be so public with it. That didn’t happen, and now they both have to deal with working together with that past relationship between them. I also hope there’s no drama, and we can just enjoy watching good dancing this season.
