Andy Dick Completely Sober, Having Fun, And Going For It On Dancing With The Stars 2013
Andy Dick is clean and sober and plans to take dancing and this competition seriously. He’s going to have a lot of fun too and just be himself. Note that this isn’t the first time Andy has been asked to do Dancing With The Stars. He had a lot of problems the first time producers asked, but, he’s ready now. More below and at the NY Daily News! I’m loving this guy. I about died laughing when he tripped while walking out on the stage at the GMA cast announcement yesterday. Too funny!
He now claims most of his obscene shenanigans were “things that were probably alcohol-induced, so in that respect [on the show] there’s no alcohol, that’s out!
“Completely sober, if you’re [asking],” he said of his current condition. “Am I going to be showing up on the dance floor with my penis in my hand? That’s not going to be happening.”
Hope not.
The star-studded cast for the sweet 16 season includes two Olympic athletes, gymnast Aly Raisman and ice skater Dorothy Hamill; a current Super Bowl champ, the Baltimore Ravens’ Jacoby Jones; two country music singers, Wynonna Judd and Kellie Pickler; a “Beverly Hills” housewife, Lisa Vanderpump; actress Zendaya Coleman; D.L. Hughley, and daytime actor Ingo Rademacher.
With such an eclectic mix of celebrities in one ballroom, the show is unlikely to run short on drama.
Dick says he was first approached by “Dancing” producers for the show’s initial season in 2004.
“They asked me the very first season and I said no, and please don’t ask me again. It’s not in my wheelhouse, the show’s not going to last,” he recalls. “Sixteen seasons later! Also, I wasn’t in a good place back then. I would never have been able to make it two minutes into the rehearsal. Still, we’ll see what happens this season.”

After watching the GMA video and the interviews you posted yesterday, he is one of the ones I’m looking forward to seeing dance. He just seems to be having a good time already. And I wasn’t really expecting that from him.
Thanks for the videos and interviews Vogue! I often wonder how you have time to find all these things.
Me too! I never thought I would say this but I am looking forward to seeing what Andy brings to the dancefloor, he seems to have the right attitude and he loves his partner, and I have to say that I am more excited about Andy and Sharna than a few of the other couples.
I’m rooting for him – not to win, of course, but to just have fun and enjoy it. He and Sharna seemed to have a great connection yesterday.
Oops! Thanks, Vogue! Love these informative articles! 🙂
All the interviews I’ve watched have really changed my opinion of him. I thought he was just going to come on here for a laugh but he’s taking it seriously and seems to really enjoy working with Sharna, so I can’t wait to see what they bring!
Thanks all and you are so welcome! xx
I enjoyed the OTRC interview he did with Sharna, and I have a good feeling that he will pleasantly surprise us (fingers crossed). He and Sharna seem to have a good vibe.
This show has a way of bringing out the best in some and the worst in others. I’m hoping for the best from Andy, and I think we’re going to get it.
Lol, I like Andy Dick because I find him to be very funny. I definitely don’t see him winning this season of DWTS, but I’m looking forward to seeing him dance.
If Andy were an Andrea, we’d never see her on this show or anywhere else. Textbook example of the leeway given male entertainers versus female. That being said, I wish him well.
Steve-O came danced after he cleaned up his act, and now Andy Dick. If SteveO could last a few weeks into the season, maybe Andy can too.
“Am I going to be showing up on the dance floor with my penis in my hand? That’s not going to be happening.”
And the fact that he feels compelled to explain that to us speaks volumes. Oh Lord, oh Lord, oh Lord… 🙁
@ Sally #11
Oh God! That was my same reaction Sally when I read that. Uh what!!!!
And my other favorite….’most of his obscene shenanigans were “things that were probably alcohol-induced, so in that respect [on the show] there’s no alcohol, that’s out!”‘
PROBABLY alcohol-induced….You mean you’re not sure Andy?
As funny as Andy was and still can be, these are the things that don’t leave my memory.
