Andy Dick Talks Of His Sobriety, Meeting The Producers For DWTS Season 16, And More
Entertainment Tonight interviewed Andy Dick! He’s sober as ever as we reported to you earlier. He talks of how he’s had someone monitoring him for a while now and will now during his time on Dancing With The Stars as well. He talks of the meeting he had with producers too. More in detail below. Stay tuned. There could be more out with he and Sharna today. If so, we’ll add it to this post!! This couple is not only going to be a fun one, but, one with a life story and struggle to tell us about. Go Andy!!
UPDATE: And here is Miss Sharna and Andy on Access Hollywood today!! Check out what Sharna’s says about Andy’s dancing when they first met up! I also love when Andy says, “Where have I been?” Great interview!!

With so many people, myself included, having an initial yuck feeling about him and feeling sorry for whatever pro got him, they may benefit from hugely from being vastly different and better than what people expect (vs people who suffer negatively from having high expectations of them). I’ll try to keep an open mind and heart and wish him the best with his recovery. And I’m excited to see what Sharna can do.
Aww, this almost brought a tear to my eye. He feels like this opportunity was sent from God.
There is something so different and appealing about Andy now as opposed to before, now I want to see more and more of him (interviews, I mean) and learn more about him, and most of all I want to watch him dance.
When I hear his story and watch him speak, I sense some vulnerability and insecurity, I think this could a life changing experience for him. I hope he sticks around for a while.
Couldn’t agree more with you both!
Thanks Vogue for all you do!!
I know I will sending a few votes his way, this means so much to him… In a good way.
YW!!! and thank you too!!!!

I think Andy will be the cinderella story of the season. I kinda scrunched my face a little when I heard his name in the lineup, but his initial OTRC interview with Sharna was such a pleasant surprise. Isn’t that always the way with this show – just when you think you have someone pegged…….
I sincerely wish Andy truckloads of luck, not only with his sobriety, but also with his dancing. Get your groove thang on, buddy, it’s time to dance! I think more pleasant surprises are in store for us with this couple. While I don’t think the MBT is in the picture, you never can tell!
That is my fear Linde, the average viewer will judge Andy by their “scrunched face” and maybe not give him a chance. That is why I will be sending some votes his way.
This lovely site gives us readers the heads up on the couples, and we get to know each and every one of them quite a bit before they walk down that staircase. We are so lucky!
I’m definitely looking forward to seeing him dance. Like everybody else, I had this bad feeling about him and figured he would be first to go. It’s nice to know that he’s taking it seriously and I hope he stick around for a bit for some life changing experiences!
Andy reminds me some of Steve-O when he was on DWTS – the image that followed him was not necessarily what he was because of his new sobriety/recovery. I grew to love Steve and his partnership with Lacey and the same thing may happen with Andy and Sharna. I am also looking forward to seeing what kind of teacher Sharna is, as I have always enjoyed her pro routine choreography.
Thanks for your replies All! Check out the post again if interested. It’s been updated with a new interview with Access Hollywood.
Sandy, it’s us who are lucky to have all of you!
These two remind me of Nancy and Tristan from season 13. Nobody expects them to do well and weren’t initially pleased to hear Andy was asked to participate. I think Andy and Sharna are going to be good for each other and surprise the heck out of us. Right now, I’m solely supporting Dorothy and Tristan, but I’m still looking foward to seeing what Andy and Sharna bring. Administrators, as always the work you do here is great and I enjoy coming here to get all news DWTS related.
Yep, I too had the knee-jerk “yuck” reaction and am now having to re-evaluate. It’s a healthy reminder for me to give someone a chance before condemning them. People make bad decisions that lead down bad roads, but with courage and commitment, they can turn themselves around. Sounds like Andy is getting his life back together and not afraid to ask for help to make sure he stays on track with his sobreity. Good for him!
I wish him and Sharna the very best and look forward to seeing what kind of moves he’s got. Hope he can change some more opinions out there.
Thanks for the second video, Vogue! 13 rehabs! God love him! Hope this last one was the charm! Hope he does really well on this season too! I’m pulling for him!
I had never heard of Andy Dick before he was announced for the season, so my whole exposure to him has been what I’ve read in the comments on this site, as well as the interviews posted by our lovely mods. Given the little bit here, I have no desire to search out more on his previous career, but from what I’ve seen in the videos, he seems to be likeable, and trying to change the direction of his life. I’m looking forward to seeing more of this partnership.
I had heard of Andy, but this post made me go do a Google search on him…
Let’s just say Lindsay Lohan can’t hold a candle to the things that Andy has done… I sure hope he stays sober while on DWTS.
I have a soft spot for this man – the sober version. Truly hoping he knows the difference between a beat and a beet and we get to see him for a few weeks.
@Sally – At least I feel like Andy is really trying to get his act together, and doing this show could be just what the doctor ordered and I can’t really say that about Lindsay.
I hope the producers allow the general TV viewers/voters to see this vulnerable side of Andy in his opening package.
I have a feeling that too many people may just tune him out from the getgo, due to his troubled past, and that would be such a shame.
Haha. Im loving the vibe off of this two. Looks like they are all for fun and lookin all very cute together. This is all about likability and Andy and Sharna are makin it all endearingly sweet and cute. I love them already!
