DWTS Zendaya On The Cover Of Total Girl, Premieres “Contagious Love” Music Video
Get ready for some Zendaya!! First up, she’s on the cover of Total Girl. At the link, they ask her about dancing and Dancing With The Stars, but, note, how the interview took place before she was picked for Dancing With The Stars Season 16.
Also, you can watch Zendaya in a new music video called “Contagious Love” (from “Shake It Up: I 3 Dance) which premiered last night. What do you think? I love it and I think this girl has some serious moves.

hey, thanks for this.
this chick really seems to have the dance capacity to do some great things, so im really looking forward to see what Val can do with her. If i didnt suspect most of her fanbase going to bed at 630, i would say this girl had a serious chance.
she also just starred this week in this artist’s trevor jackson- like we’re grown music video. Idk how to link, but you can see her doing a bit of dancing in there as well
I love her. I really think she and Val will produce some really great dances.
I like her. Alot.
lol Zach! I knew you’d be one of the first to reply to this post.
I’m liking her so far too.
A tall dark skinned girl with a great personality?? Um yes ma’am, Vogue. I’m a fan!
She’s certainly adorable and appealing. (I base all this on watching 3 videos) She has more of a gangly, happy puppy persona more than a Hey-I’m 16 But Watch Me Be Slutty vibe that we’ve seen from other teen stars.
Though we know Val has experience teaching dance to teens, I still get the feeling that if Mark were mebbe 6-8 inches taller, he’d be a better match for Zendaya. I can picture the 2 of them dancing joyously about in up tempo dances especially, with “Hey, we’re making a video” Smiles on their faces
It’s a question of Mark’s personality and his seeing himself as being young and “edgy” and perhaps more likely to incorporate moods and attitudes she’s familiar with into their dances.
Nonetheless, I’m eager to see what “magic” Val will be able to work with her and the new things she’ll do a few weeks from now.
Zach, You have good taste. Zendaya seems like a sweet girl. Hmmm, “Zach and Zendaya”, it has a nice ring to it. ;P
@yo – “If i didnt suspect most of her fanbase going to bed at 630, i would say this girl had a serious chance.”
That was too funny, actually I think her fanbase probably can stay up until 8:00 or 8:30… Seriously though, I think she will do well in the competition. She seems sweet enough.
Her latest pic tweet makes me think she has a Ballroom..
That last picture she tweeted looks like a Quickstep (which she did say she’s rehearsing, along with a Rumba)
I hope that Rumba isn’t for week 1 though.. it wouldnt surprise me considering they gave Ingo a “Contemporary” (I don’t understand why they couldn’t do the whole Cha-Cha/Foxtrot [or V. Waltz which I like better] week 1 for all the celebs.. sigh..)
@CarlosS! – I don’t understand either. Foxtrot/V. waltz or cha cha for week one has worked for 16 seasons – why change now? What TPTB don’t seem to understand is that the reason the ratings are slipping is *not* because they don’t have enough dance styles, or because people don’t enjoy ballroom, but a whole host of other reasons (see PH’s posts on how to fix DWTS).
Whoops – 15 seasons!
If they feel need to add dance styles add the lindy hop, jitterbug or mambo to the regular routine.
I agree CarolosS! and Anon. I have a sinking feeling that we’re going to see an alphabet soup list of dances for week 1 which is not only distracting for viewers but also an uneven playing field for the couples. Pulling off contemporary is much harder than cha-cha.
I agree Cidra. The way ir used to be was so much easier. And not only that but is Kym even trained to be able to do Contemporary? Maybe she is but I know other pros aren’t (like Val last season). The only things i wanted back this season were the half scores and the fusion dances (those were a lot of fun). The trio dances i dont like too much but i wouldnt mind that back. But thats it.. all these unnecesary dances like contemporary should remain on SYTYCD.
CarlosS – I thought we heard last season that when the pros bumped into a dance they hadn’t done before (Apolo and Karina with hip-hop?), they could bring in another choreographer to help out… so I’d expect Kym to do that if she’s not trained in contemporary. I’m looking at that like an early jive – provided everyone has to do contemporary this cycle, at least Ingo & Kym can get it out of the way early, when the GH voting block can carry them past at least one of the other couples.
Sally- Yeah you are right. Thats an advantage for them. Since it is very unlikely they will go home week one, even if they dont do good on the contemporary they will be back for other better dances and they’ll have that out of the way. I guess i wouldnt have had a problem with the dance if they did it like on week 3 at least because week one just seems too soon even if they do have to incoorporate another choreographer.
also its probably my ocd wanting things in their usual order that is chacha/foxtrot and jive/quickstep.
CarlosS and Sally, What worries me *most* about contemporary (and other stuff) being in is which dance styles are going to be out? I suppose they could eliminate one of the waltzes and leave it up to the couples to decide whether to do VWaltz or slow waltz.
As others have said, this is supposed to be a ballroom dance show. If it becomes a celebrity SYTYCD show, I’ll be irritated.
My OCD is kicking in too.
Cids& CarlosS – ITA. I’m not happy about contemporary either. Ditto what Cidra said – if this becomes “Celebrity SYTYCD”, I’ll go find something else to watch.
But to the dances – Cidra is prolly right, they’ll eliminate one of the waltzes. JMO, but I could see the younger viewer (and TPTB are *always* trying to draw the younger viewers) seeing a slow waltz as boring. But that being said, they actually don’t *have* to eliminate any of the dance styles. For example, if they’ve inserted “contemporary” into the cycle, then just start the “two dances per week” regime 1 week earlier than usual, and presto – they’ve effectively put an extra dance into the competition. Not saying that’s what they’re doing, but it’s possible.
As for me I preffer watch merengue, lambada, WCS or other rhythms that aren’t well known on US such as cuban salsa, milonga, zouk-lambada, bachata…
I had another, nauseating, thought… All of this is JMO, by the way. By handing out contemporary week 1, TPTB *might* already be story-boarding.
If Ingo & Kym don’t do well, it sets up the “redemptive arc” right from the get-go. Ick.
