A set of official title shoot pictures have been released of the couples for Dancing With The Stars Season 16 at People.com. They’ve also posted little blurbs by each picture with a quote from one of them. For instance, Wynonna Judd has commented this about Tony Dovolani;
“He has no pressure on him now, but wait until he comes to the farm and does chores and comes out on stage in front of thousands of people and has to dance while I sing. – Wynonna Judd

They are all fun, but, I’m loving these the most: Lisa and Gleb, Val and Zendaya, Karina and Jacoby (I love the way he’s holding her), Derek and Kellie (awesome move), Sharna (love that smile) and Andy, Wynonna and Tony, and Tristan and Dorothy. I’m also loving the fireworks in the background instead of the “white” background we’ve seen in the past.

Really liking Kellie & Derek, Andy & Sharna, Jacoby & Karina, and Victor & Lindsay’s pics. Also nice were Dorothy & Tristan, Lisa & Gleb, Val & Zendaya, and Ingo & Kym. DL & Cheryl look *really* awkward, and Wynonna & Tony and Aly & Mark just look a bit stiff.

Lisa & Gleb ; Lisa is stuningly gorgeous. Gleb is very handsome himself except his legs are spread apart too much… kinda awkward hahaha
Sharna looks absolutely gorgeous. The picture is just overall fun!
Aly & Mark ; I like it. Nothing too special. They look cute.
Victor & Lindsay : Really showcase their cute little pairing. Playful and adorable. I like!
Kellie & Derek : Holy wow! She looks gorgeous! Her line extensions are just majestic. One of the best pics I admit.
Zendaya & Val : They look great! Are we sure Zendaya isn’t really 19? Haha. She looks stunning and Val and her make a great pair.
DL & Cheryl : My least favorite. I guess they went for him being a comedian and made it funny but it is a bit awkward. Cheryl looks super pretty though.
Jacoby & Karina : Um. A very fun and interesting take on it. I like. Its pretty cool. My only problem is he just looks like he isn’t feeling it.. but thats just me.
Dorothy & Tristan : I love these two! Really like this picture. Dorothy looks so good!! Can’t wait to see them moving!
Ingo & Kym : Another one that I’m not liking so much but Kym looks gorgeous. Ingo just looks uncomfortable and looks like he is about to fall, haha!
Wynonna & Tony : Very simple. They look cute. Nothing too special either.
Andy & Sharna : Another favorite of mine! I’m starting to like Andy!

Of all the photos, my favourite is Derek and Kelie’s. It is so dynamic and fresh, and truly focuses the attention on her, which is normal as she is the celebrity.
Ok, now that I’m done pouting…
…first, I’m glad that Lisa got to rock her signature color, and might I add that she & Gleb look FANTASTIC together
Love Karina & Jacoby’s shot, too – very fun & different, almost “pinup-y”, which I dig. Her shoes are fab! Dorothy is a revelation – that woman’s body is SICK! No way she’s 56. I refuse to believe it 
Kym looks great, but Ingo looks a bit awkward – the platter hand has me a little worried. I actually really like Wynonna in that dress – she has a sort of Stevie Nicks, gypsy vibe in it. Very pretty. Kelly & Derek look cute, too…but I don’t think those two could manage to be un-photogenic 
Now for the not so good: DL & Cheryl look like they took their pictures separately & just got photoshopped together, because it seems like there is a big disconnect there. Aly & Mark look a bit mismatched, as Mark has the punky, rebellious vibe going on and Aly looks super-conservative. Zendaya & Val look cute, but the dress they put her in just keeps reminding me how YOUNG she is. Victor & Lindsay don’t look bad, either, but Lindsay’s dress seems a bit out of place…it looks more like a costume while all the other ladies seem to be in cocktail dresses! Victor is a cutie, though – looks like a smilier, more enthusiastic Rob Kardashian. I find Sharna & Andy’s pic a bit odd for the simple reason that she looks like she’s having a blast…while Andy looks super serious! Hope he remembers to have fun & let go this season.
Trying to figure out something interesting I can do with these pix since WWIB is out of the question. Hmmmm…
@Court: I know last season wasn’t your cup of tea, to say the least, but if you really want to do WWIB, you could do a retrospective of sorts around it. Otherwise, I am, as ever, eager to hear your comments on the current pictures.
I think the pictures look great with the new background and dresses…although I have to agree that Lindsey’s dress does stand out for being so different from the others. A couple pics are boring & awkward to me (Aly & Mark and Ingo & Kym). My absolute favorites have to be Jacoby & Karina for the adorable hold and Kellie & Derek for the fantastic lines!
So, after watching the videos Vogue posted on the page – really, really liking both Andy & Sharna and Victor & Lindsay. They’re connecting with each other well, and seem to have a nice blend of humor, groundedness, and willingness to give it their best, without being overly competitive. DL & Cheryl’s interview is like their picture – awkward and disconnected. I wouldn’t mind if they’re the first gone.
I wanted Andy to be the first one gone before, but now I’m hoping he stays for a few weeks. And I think he will! I can see DL going home first already…
I think everyone looks great. But my favorites are Andy and Sharna, Dorothy and Tristan, and Kellie and Derek.
This season can’t get here fast enough for me.
Victor is so charming and likeable!! I hope he’ll win lots of people over and go far.

What, did they get locked out of the dress closet?
I like Victor and Lindsay in both the title shoot picture and the video. They have great rapport and he oozes charisma IMO. I also like Cheryl’s partner in the video and Lisa’s and Ally’s pix. I didn’t care for Derek’s only because he basically repeated the pose he did with Maria a couple of seasons ago. Creative, yet not really. Kellie is cute, but if that’s the tone they set throughout the season, I’m going to tire of it pretty quickly. My least favorite was probably Jacoby’s title shot with Karina because they look so mismatched in the picture, but I’m assuming they’ll look more natural on the dance floor.
I LOVE Jacoby and Karina!!! The hold and the way she is “chillin” in his arms shows me the great chemistry! I also Luv Kym and Ingo, her dress is fab and Wynonna and Tony! I like most here, love the new backdrop this year
I think the pictures look a lot better with the fireworks background instead of the regular white background they’ve used in the past. My favorite ones are Kellie and Derek’s, Karina and Jacoby’s, and Dorothy and Tristan’s. I was looking forward to seeing Aly and Mark’s picture, but I was kind of let down because of the boring pose.
In terms of favorably displaying the spirit of their partnerships,the pics that stood out to me are:
1. Victor and Lindsay, for reasons others upthread have said.
2. Dorothy and Tristan – The way they address each other in that pose, the look of almost impish delight between them makes these two look very comfortably connected. I got that feeling from their videos, too. Wonderful shot.
3. Zendaya and Val – I liked what Val had to say about treating Zen as a a partner and teammate, and the pic backs him up. This is the same guy that smoldered with Kelly in S15 title shoot, yet here the 2 of them look as if they have an easy, fun, age-appropriate relationship even though Zen is so young. I’m not getting an ick factor here.
I was majorly bummed to learn from Val’s tweet that they were working on contemporary. I was wanting to see this couple do all the ballroom and Latin dances, including rumba (didn’t Mark say once he did rumba when he was 6?) and show us some great dances. Dances that didn’t rely on showboating or raunch, but succeeded because Zendaya and Val performed the various elements of the dance with decent precision and flair and because of the fun they had doing it. For some reason, that photo made me think they could do those dances.
what if, when they announce the 12th pair….it#s Maks paired with someone? that would be a hoot. I think. Maybe not.
I like the pics much more than I have previously. They look more natural and I’m not a big fan of excessive posing. Actually my favorite photos are always those that look like the subjects are unaware of the photographer, like with Sharna’s smile.
The videos are also cute.
Victor&Lindsay have good rapport. I find it a bit creepy, I must admit, how he refers to himself as Vic.
Andy and Sharna warm my heart. I hope he stays on track.
DL&Cheryl- not much chemistry there.
Aly&Mark- I was getting worried that she may actually be a robot but in this video you can get a glimpse of a genuine smile. I guess she just has a very guarded way of communicating.
@kate As interesting as that’d be, I’m pretty sure it’ll be Peta with someone as there’s already a 6:5 ratio for women.

Lisa & Gleb and Zendaya & Val’s interviews now at the link. Not sure what to think about Lisa – in every interview she’s primarily talked about how good looking Gleb is, and it’s starting to get a little old. Gleb seems sweet. Zendaya & Val seem to have a nice connection.
I’m a little ticked with TPTB that several of the couples have contemporary for the first week – why can’t we stick to ballroom?? If they want to do contemporary, there’s the freestyle.
Lisa and Gleb: Nice Shot.My only minor issue with it is that it looks a little like a prom pic lol. 8/10
Aly and Mark: I like it. 8/10
Victor and Lindsay: This is my favorite. 10/10
Kellie and Derek: My second fav. LOVE the pose. 9.5/10
Zendaya and Val: my third fav. Love the pose and they seem to have grea chemistry. 9/10
D.L. and Cheryl: It’s a nice pic of her and I get they were goig the comedy angle but they could have pushed it farther. 7.5/10

In regards to the contemporary, I keep hoping that someone’s going to tweet “HA! Just kidding! We’re actually going to do Cha-Cha!” or something like that. But it’s looking like that won’t happen. It makes me not excited for this season… And almost a little sad.
I enjoyed most of the interviews that were up
vic & lindsay – seem like a very light-hearted and fun team. it just scares me that he’s shooting to win the ‘globe’…has he never watched this show before??
DL & Cheryl – they seemed okay. it was just obvious, more than others, that they had just met and didnt really know eachother that well
Lisa & Gleb – gleb is very sweet & laid back which helps because i can tell lisa is going to be cheeky mess
Derek & Kellie – They are funny and energetic. my only worry is that the few interviews ive seen, they are always at like a 10. Im hoping they learn to fluctuate, bc that has the potential to get irritating.
Mark & Aly – i like this pair, but aly aly aly. I only enjoyed the last 10 seconds when she broke character and was like ‘really?!’ when mark said 26 dances. she needs to start exercising those personality muscles fast
Andy & Sharna – they seem to get on really well, and i like the mix of funny but serious andy. i just hope the paranoia doesnt start to creep in bc he seems susceptible to that
Zendaya & Val- they were surprisingly very chill and seemed to really get along rather naturally
I just hope “Contemporary” is the only new dance they add. I definitely don’t want to see “Bollywood”, “Jazz” or “Broadway”.. that would really infuriate me.
And in case anyone is wondering, so far Zendaya & Val (whom i think are doing a quickstep the second week), Dorothy & Tristan and Ingo & Kym have Contemporary. I believe the Cha-Cha-Cha’s right now are for Wynonna, Kellie, D.L and Jacoby. And the Foxtrots are for Lisa, Andy and (I’m making an educated guess here) Victor and Aly.
Sean (if and when he is announced) is probably doing Contemporary.
Mark and Aly are getting on my nerves…i saw it on a string somewhere else calling mark out because he checks out if he doesn’t have a partner that he thinks is good or likes. Well clearly he likes his chances with aly because they are non stop on the twitter, instagram, etc- anyone else notice? If mark tells Aly one more time how she kills it, that they learned their whole dance already, etc. Mark actually wrote to someone on the DWTS instagram’s page reprimanding them saying that Aly and Shawn are nothing alike and they are going to be totally different. He can get on my nerves….sorry needed to vent:)

So when Mark is quiet on twitter, he gets criticism for being “checked out,” but then when he tweets a lot, he’s annoying? Damned if he does, damned if he doesn’t…so he might as well do whatever.

Well mark is now being combative with someone who commented on Aly’s Instagram pic now- he brought up that he has been in 5 finals and won twice- um like really?!
Adding to what Heidi said – Mark seems to only operate at extremes with Twitter: he’s either bombarding us every hour on the hour with tweets about how great his practices are going w/Aly, or he’s not even tweeting about the show at all, like he did last season – you would have never guessed that he was even on DWTS, judging from his tweets, let alone that he was paired w/Bristol. Most of the other pros have figured out how to maintain a balance – not over sharing, but still expressing excitement. It’s not “poor Mark, he’s damned if he does and he’s damned if he doesn’t”, it’s “find a happy medium, Mark”.
So the interviews with the last 4 couples – Wynonna & Tony, Dorothy & Tristan, Ingo & Kym and Jacoby & Karina are at the link above. Tony didn’t say a word in their interview – it felt just a little off. Dorothy & Tristan were really nice together, and they seem to have a great rapport. Ingo & Kym also seem to have a nice partnership. Jacoby & Karina – I’m still not sure about them. I like Karina, and she’s thrilled to be dancing with Jacoby, but I’m having a hard time feeling them as a couple. We’ll see what happens as they spend more time together.

Ok. Now, idk if he is trying to be comical or what.. but his answers assure me of his cockyness. And his cockyness is over the roof at this point. It’s kinda of annoying. It’s not even confidence anymore.. is pure cockyness.

@CC – After your comment, I went and read them all…and yes, Jacoby comes off as a little too cocky. I wasn’t impressed. I wanted him to be good, because I like Karina, but I’m not sure I’ll be able to root (or vote) for them if this is an accurate sampling. Maybe a few weeks of rehearsal will humble him a little, and he’ll improve (personality-wise).
I found reading the Q&A to be really interesting – you can see who’s nervous and unsure of their ability (Ingo and Dorothy come to mind as the best examples), who’s excited (pretty much everyone except DL), who wants to do well, etc. There were some rather thoughtful responses from some of them too – not just throw away answers.

Just got to view the pics. First thought is that TPTB are springing for only one pair of dance shoes for most of the ladies so they’re sharing. Most are wearing the same gold strappys. Odd. Also, Mark looks bored. And Karina’s losing a shoe. Dorothy has lovely lines. Overall it looks like whoever’s doing the costumes is taking the easy road out. Saving a buck here and there, maybe? Where’s Randall when we need him? Since I know who only a few of the contestants are, it will be a fun season to watch!

Yes.. DL’s interview is sooo lame it is almost absurd that they let him answer like that. He is convincing me more and more that he is going to go home first. I also liked Ingo’s interview and how his wife is making him do the show. I found it funny but I hope that doesn’t mean that he isn’t gonna be all boring cause he does not wanna be there in free will.

@CC – based on the interviews with Ingo (the AH one at the link, the radio one in another post, and the OTRC right after the announcement), I think he does want to be there (much more than DL does!), and I think he’s going to give it his best. He just sounds really nervous about if that best is any good. Based on his 5 questions, it seems that people have told him in the past that he’s an awful dancer and shouldn’t even try, so I think he’s reflecting some of that.
@Anon – In his five questions Jacoby says he’s an excellent dancer (we shall see about that), and he is not afraid of any of the dances. Who’s the pro in this partnership?
I sense some big problems will arise between Karina and Jacoby. I doubt if he will handle the criticism from Karina, I bet money their packages are going to be rough. Not good!
I will not mention this again but this is Jacoby’s first question and answer word for word:

I was so excited to see the pics but I’m kind of disappointed mainly because of the clothing. I loved their ballroom outfits before and while the dresses the ladies are wearing are gorgeous and sparkly I miss the ballroom, the costumes are definitely one of the reasons I love the show.
That said there’s a lot of good pics. Loving how gorgeous Kim, karina, Cheryl and kellie look
I find Jacoby’s attitude refreshing. We’ve heard the “stepping out of the comfort zone” line a million times before and it’s really starting to get old. Of course celebrities are going to be new to the world of ballroom dancing, that’s the whole point of the show. But they have hopefully experienced dancing in the broader sense before. Jacoby may really be an excellent dancer in that sense. I guess we’ll see if he has the moves to go along with his words. Until I see what he’s got I won’t jump to conclusions.
And I expect Karina to handle him beautifully. I think a guy like Jacoby is just what she needed to be able to go at someone with full force and see him handle it. I hope he can.
Please, somebody tell me that Doroty isn’t really 56. Can’t believe it! She looks absolutely stunning.
Sasa I completely agree! Jacoby strikes me as a guy who is just ready to embrace this experience head on! It thinks it’s okay that he feels he’s an excellent dancer and that he doesn’t fear any of the dances — good for him! He did mention possible handicaps, so let’s give him some credit there, lol.
I also don’t know how far it is to compare him to Hines, Emmitt, and Donald — he’s 28 and in the prime of his career. They were in their mid to late thirties and either on the verge of retirement (Hines/Donald) or already retired (Emmitt). I bet had they competed at his age, you’d see the same type of bravado. When I listen to his interviews I don’t hear arrogance — he’s just a guy who’s kinda been there done that, and this is just another challenge he’s ready to tackle. (Oh goodness…no pun intended..lol)
Lets give him a chance and not be so quick to read to deep into things. And besides…Victor and DL aren’t saying they want to go home first. Both are saying they want to win as well! I’m excited for this season!

Something I noticed while looking at these pictures- there is no true “eyecandy” for the males, outside of the professional dancers. Now, PLEASE don’t think I mean that there’s no attractive women. For her age, Lisa is gorgeous and Dorothy seems to be in great shape. Zendara is a beautiful young lady (but emphasis on the young), and Kellie and Aly are pretty and adorable. But there’s hardbody or model-type like a Melissa Rycroft, Maria Menunous, Audrina, Brooke, Petra, or any of the numerous models that I believe have been on every season. Interesting shift in casting, or possibly just how it worked out this season.
@sasa – Refreshing? Really, I never would call his type of attitude as refreshing. To each his own, I guess.
I don’t think Jacoby will be able to take any criticism or critiques from the judges or Karina for that matter, his ego will probably spell the end for this couple.
Oh well, enough about him, I need to focus on my favorites this season, sorry Karina.
In the OTRC interview Jacoby said that Karina is boss so I don’t think she will have any problem getting him to do what she wants. This is a man that takes critcism from tough coaches. So he knows how to take critcism and follow directions.
I sure hope Jacoby can walk his talk – or dance his stance ;o)
I have no doubt that he will listen to Karina – he understands the concept of coach. Not so sure how he’ll do with our judges – let’s hope his dancing is indeed what America has been waiting for. CAI will rave no matter what, but how will he react to being compared to a shopping cart or a dog turd?
I’m glad to see Karina so happy, though. I hope that bliss continues after their first rehearsals.
I agree with what some of you are saying. Yes, in some way is good for Jacoby to think that he is an excellent dancer. It’s good for him to think that he will do well.
The problem is, if he turns out to be the exact oppostive of what he is claiming to be (an “excellent dancer”), it is going to hurt him bad. People will be left wondering where this excellent dancer is and this can hurt the two as a couple.
I guess what i’m saying is that yes, he should have self confidence and it’s good for him to believe he will do well. However, he shouldn’t label himself as excellent or anything before he actually hits the dancefloor and we get to see him dance. He should just keep his confidence and his slight cockyness to himself because some people can see that as a turn off and it could affect him and bite him in the butt in the long run. Let’s not forget that Ravens nation aren’t the only ones who are gonna watch him dance. And personally I dont think they are enough to take him to the mirror ball. Obviously, this fanbase is gonna love him whether he can dance or not. But he should also appeal to those who dont even know anything about football (me included) and having too big of an ego doesnt really scream “vote for me”.
But hey, i’ll give him a shot and wait to see the packages before the dances and all that to make a bigger judgment.
@CC: In that regards, which would be more annoying then? Someone screaming “VOTE 4 ME ON #DWTS!!!” every other second or someone who is letting us know they are “confident” (and I use the term loosely after reading what’s been said) of their ability?

@Tony – Well I did not mean literally screaming. Was more of a figure of speech. What i meant is that on this show, winning the viewers and the audience is pretty important. You cant rely on just the people who already love you, you have to win even more people and let them know why they should vote for you. And there could be people who find this “confidence” as “cockyness” and like i said, that could be a turn off which wont make people vote. Every single vote counts so all im saying is that he should appeal to people in a more humble way and finding a balance between confident and cocky .. because right now the scale is tipping over on the cocky side a little.
Maybe he isn’t willing to change something that has served him well in the past and is a part of who he is as a person, just because it would make winning easier. Perhaps he wants to win AND be open about his competitiveness/confidence/cockiness (however you prefer to call it). That sounds like an ultimate challenge.
IMO anyone that is in a position of having a big fan base and that plays the DWTS game smartly by exhibiting just the right amounts of attitude (like Donald did) can win. Okay, you also have to be able to dance a little bit. Donald knew exactly what the right things to say are, he delivered them and reaped the benefit. I do have respect for that.
But I haven’t learned anything about his personality that would differentiate him in my mind from another hard working, god loving, ever positive and focused football player. Those are the things that come “built in” in the role, that don’t say anything about the nitty gritty of the person that took the role on.
I wholly understand it is just my personal viewpoint and that others think it is realistic to think that you truly are what you seem to be striving for but my opinion is that there is more to every person and that it’s not all as pretty. I’m a cynic like that.
