Extra Goes Inside Ingo Rademacher And Kym Johnson’s DWTS Rehearsals (Video)

Extra stopped by the rehearsal studio to chat with Ingo and Kym!! They mainly talk about General Hospital, but, you can see Ingo interacting with Kym a little. At the end, they ask about Dancing With The Stars. He mentions Kelly Monaco and how she gave him advise. She told him Dancing With The Stars is really hard, but, that he’d love it. More below. Hmmm, I think I’m going to like this pairing. šŸ˜€

DWTS And Shake it Up’s Zendaya Has A New Found Respect For Ballroom Dancing (Video)

Access Hollywood went to the set of “Shake It Up” to interview Zendaya! It’s been a lot of extra hard work fitting dancing and rehearsals into her schedule for Dancing With The Stars, but, she’s found a new found respect for Ballroom dancing. She hurts all over with an exception to her nose. She’s cute. I think she’s going to be a force this season. What do you think?

BTW, be sure to check out Val’s first blog at Today. Note how he plans to do things differently this season. He and Zendaya also have the Contemporary dance as their first dance…

But this show is “Dancing With the Stars” — in particular the foundation of the show is ballroom dancing. Even though it goes in a few different directions, I think the core of the show still remains the same, that is, the authenticity and the charm of what ballroom dancing is. Historical and modern-day ballroom dancing is about a man and a woman dancing beautifully together. That leads me to the next challenge: Iā€™m a 26-year-old man, and Zendaya is a 16-year-old young lady. Itā€™s a vast contrast between my experience on the show last season!

I will most definitely do things differently. Zendaya and I have contemporary as our first dance. And itā€™s so funny because her mom came in after our meeting the next day and she said, ā€œHey, you know, I looked you up on YouTube and wanted to get a better idea of what a contemporary dance was all about, so I looked up the contemporary from last season. And yeah, itā€™s uh … very interesting!ā€ And I was like, ā€œYeah, you know, last time I did contemporary, half the nation got pregnant!ā€ So Iā€™m probably going to tone it down with Zendaya and take a different route! Less about passion and more about inspiration!

Dorothy Hamill Chats About Her First Rehearsals For Dancing With The Stars, Costumes, Ice Skating, And More

The Chicago Sun Times has a great new interview up with Dorothy Hamill where she talks all about her new ice skating shows, but, she also discusses Dancing With The Stars and what her first rehearsals have been like. She also tells us what kind of coach Tristan MacManus is making and how skating and dancing are different….

Q.You are partnered with Tristan McManus. What kind of a coach is he? Tough love or laid-back?

DH: Tristan is patient, patient, patient! Heā€™s a saint. Iā€™ve never seen frustration on his face though weā€™ve only been training for three days. I know heā€™s gotta be frustrated, because I am.

Q.How similar are skating and ballroom dancing? Or are they worlds apart?

DH: The dancing is sorta similar to skating but dancing really isnā€™t about movement; itā€™s all about the rhythm. People think skating would translate very easily to dancing but it really doesnā€™t. Dancing is a lot of fun and not as dangerous as being on the ice. But Iā€™m starting to feel like the hippo in ā€œFantasiaā€ [Laughs] and thatā€™s embarrassing and humiliating. I have the most incredible partner in Tristan, but Iā€™m starting to think he has the worst partner in me. Weā€™ll see.

Q. Did you study dance when you trained as a skater?

DH: I didnā€™t study dance. I had some ballet lessons because I needed it for posture and for my arms, mostly. My skating coach said I really needed it, from the belly button up, as opposed to the footwork. In skating, the shoes donā€™t move. In ballroom, your feet move in all sorts of ways. So itā€™s very different. The dancing is a different kind of physically demanding work.

Q. What has early training for ā€œDWTSā€ been like? Is it all about the basic steps or do you jump right in and learn a dance right out of the gate?

DH: Well, after four steps Iā€™m pretty much lost right now! But Tristan has been teaching me basic steps. And we just got our music for our first dance. Itā€™s a contemporary dance. We started the choreography yesterday. Weā€™ll be getting the music for our second dance soon. As for rehearsals, weā€™re only allowed right now to work four hours with a half hour break, for the first two weeks of competition. After that I guess weā€™re on our own in terms of how much time we choose to rehearse.

This is a fun take about the costumes and the dances she’s dreading the most….

Q. Whatā€™s your take on the ā€œDancing with the Starsā€ costumes, which can be very revealing and have often been compared to the sparkly costumes of professional skating?

DH: The costumes are very different, though I havenā€™t had a wardrobe fitting yet. They are very revealing, thatā€™s true. Iā€™m just hoping mine wonā€™t be too revealing. Iā€™m the oldest person on the show this season. That was a revelation! I just have to make sure they cover up as much as possible. But I am looking very forward to the spray tan on my legs! That will be fun. My legs are ice skatersā€™ legs. No tan in sight.

Q.Which dances are you dreading and which are you looking forward to the most?

DH: Iā€™m intimidated by the Jive and the Quickstep, I think. The quickness and the rhythm of the steps of those dances as far as Iā€™ve seen are very intimidating. In skating we get to glide. Interestingly, Kristi said the Fox Trot was the most difficult for her.

I’d be intimidated by those dances the most I think too. Great interview! Be sure you read it in full here.

UPDATE: And here is Tristan and Dorothy on ET in a rehearsal interview. So cute and I’m loving their moves. What do you think?!!
