PureDWTS Questions For Dance Pro Louis Van Amstel Needed!!
Hey Guys!!! Dance Junkies TV will be interviewing pro Louis Van Amstel tomorrow night (Tuesday). Stuart Brazell has written us asking you to submit your questions in comments and she will try to get as many questions answered as they can. It’s going to be a fun interview too as he is suppose to preview Dancing With The Stars Season 16. So ask away for anything you want. I’ll leave my questions in comments too.
Thanks Everyone!!! One more week and counting!

So it’s Louis’ turn…:-) OK, here are my questions.
Is there a competition between the newbie DWTS pros and the pros that have lots of seasons behind them?
How are you involved with the show when you are not one of the competing pros?
What are your professional plans outside DWTS?
Who is your favourite pro dance partner?
Tell us about LaBlast – what is the concept behind it?
My questions:
1. Louis, will you be reviewing the cast at a blog at Good Morning America as you have in the past? I hope so. I and many fans love those!
2. If you had to guess right now the winner of Season 16, who would it be?
3. Will you be dancing in any pro numbers or choreographing? If so, any hints of what you might like to do and to what music?
4. When did you start dancing and who is your greatest mentor? Who has influenced you the most?
5. If you were to name three of the greatest moments during your whole career of dancing, what would they be?
Good questions Kate! THANKS!!
Here’s one:
Why were you a petty ass during season 10??
I would like to ask Louis:
1.Which style of dancing is your favorite and why?
2. What are your plans for after DWTS?
Heidi…have I told you lately that I love you?
For me, Kelly was one of my all-time favorite contestants on the show ever.
Kelly said in an interview once, that she credited you for saving her life. That has to make you feel proud. Do you still maintain a relationship with her?
Which contestant do you think will benefit the most from doing the show this season?
My question for Louis:
Do you think “contemporary” makes sense as a dance style for DWTS and would you be happy to get it as a Week 1 dance?
What is one thing that you had to work to correct with each of your partners?
No, patty, but I always love hearing it.
For Louis 1. Do the pros at DWTS have a designated person on production staff they can go to express concerns about production decisions that they believe endanger their celebs (like too many dances for 1 week) or make it unnecessarily difficult for them (like needing to teach dances they haven’t trained in).
These are just examples. Am really wondering if there is some kind of ombudsman between pros and production that pros can input and complain to without fear of losing their jobs?
2. Is there some kind of organized way that pros can participate with production for vetting ideas that production has for gaining viewers and solving problems? Does production ever see the pros as resources and stakeholders who may have valuable ideas and advice for improving the show? (yes,I’m asking with a straight face)
3.Since DWTS is an outgrowth of SCD, is there anyone in production whose role it is to translate and “correct” assumptions and decisions about the show that come from a British heritage and modify them for American sensibilities?
I have ten questions:
1)My favorite dance that you ever chreographed was your rumba with Sabrina. Do you remember what it was like performing that dance and getting the first perfect score on all star season?
2)Out of all of your partners Lisa Rinna was my favorite. Would you ever consider doing the celebrity apprentice like she did?
3) What is your favorite vacation spot?
4) (This one is kinda random) Would you ever consider being a judge on the show if Bruno or Len left?
5)Which celebrity out of all of the celebrities on the show impressed you the most?
6) You always seem to be having a fun time when you are on the show. Is it like that for everyone?
7) Which pro dance was your favorite?
8) When you were eliminated first in season one why do you think that happened?
9)Would you ever choreograph a broadway show?
10) (This is an odd one too)favorite restaurant and why.
FYI, Edwina – if you weren’t a brand new person trolling this site and questioning what I say, you would know EXACTLY why I said what I said. Now, if you can figure out how to talk about something other than me – as fascinating as I clearly am – then your posts will go through. Otherwise they will continue to end up in the trash.
Hi Heidi I am not new I follow your site the time on season and off. I find the information in your website interesting and a good forum to understand what viewers think. I wasn’t talking about you I was asking what you find distasteful about Louis! I have noticed your comments before but you don’t say what’s so awful. Louis is a very close friend of mine as are several of the pro dancers and celebrities on the show. All of them are interested in what people have to say and off seasons are particularly stressful especially for the pros who are not accustomed to “off seasons”
:::sigh::: Okay, I’m going to assume you are serious, Edwina, and cut you some slack. My comment actually said exactly what I meant and Louis has been told this before by fans – he acted like a petty, jealous child about Nicole being on the show, as if a ringer was a new and never before seen concept on DWTS. That is just ignorant and he behaved in an unprofessional and childish manner to one of his co-pro dancers and another person on the show who was hired just like everyone else. It’s so funny that some fans whine that we aren’t “professional” and aren’t “objective” – but we don’t work for the show. We don’t have to be, and a blog, by definition, is an OPINION based site. But people who DO work for the show?? They need to grow up and remember how it works. And be professionals. So those whining about us need to start holding their favorites to the same standards they believe (wrongly) that we should be held to.
Thank you Heidi!
You have to remember that these dancers competed for years in the ruthless world of ballroom dancing and just because they stop competing does not mean that that competitive spirit immediately goes away! I u/s that this will be the subject of Derek and Julianne’s new blackpool show! The producers make the pairings not the pros so I doubt anything you describe as “pettiness” was between the pros they are always cordial and cross paths all the time in UTAH
It doesn’t matter what they did in the past. They are on TV now and they have to change their behavior. As for it not being directed at Derek or Nicole, he needs to learn that perception is reality and that people are watching. If he doesn’t care what people think, like Maks claims, then fine. But he doesn’t get to trash talk and act like a petty child and then claim ignorance or be upset that people see him that way or blame them for it. They can only go by what they SEE on TV. It doesn’t matter that he might not REALLY feel that way towards either Derek or Nicole, it’s how he “appears”. And there are a whole bunch of fans that don’t like him for these reasons. That’s his fault for not understanding how he is perceived and taking steps to correct it.
Saying “oh, he’s really nice, and they’re not petty with each other” only matters between him and Derek. If he doesn’t want fans to think the exact opposite then he needs to change how HE acts on TV.
I also think you’re giving yourself a much greater degree of knowledge of what they do in “UTAH” than what you actually have.
