PureDWTS Peta Murgatroyd Talks About Rehearsals and More With New Partner Sean Lowe

Peta Murgatroyd stopped by the offices of OK! Magazine today to talk about Dancing With The Stars and her new partner Sean Lowe. She says so far their rehearsals have been “great, but interesting”. He’s having some trouble shaking his hips since he’s so tall, but, he’s dedicated and driven. She has heaps of faith they will be in the finale. They have the Fox Trot for their first dance. Lots more below…

Dancing With The Stars Aly Raisman On The Hardest Part Of Dancing So Far And More

Aly Raisman says people are going to see a whole other side to her when they see her dance on Dancing With The Stars. It’s out of her comfort zone, but, she’s having fun and plans to work hard. Below is a take from TV Guide where she talks about the hardest part of dancing so far, what Shawn Johnson thinks, and more. Be sure to read the full interview at the link.

Has that been the hardest part of dancing so far?
Raisman: Actually no. I’m actually not shy at all in rehearsals, which is good. I’m very goofy and we have a lot of fun. I’m a lot more comfortable shaking my hips and doing all that stuff, but it’s the basic stuff that’s hard for me. [Laughs] Mark says he teaches 5-year-old kids the basic stuff that I can’t get, but literally when he asks me to shimmy or shake my hips, I can do it. He thought I’d have a harder time with that.

It’s usually the opposite.
Raisman: Yeah, I know. We’ve been sending videos to Shawn and she’s like, “Oh my God!” She was impressed so that makes me feel good. But I didn’t think I’d be so comfortable with shimmying. I can do it all day long! … At the Olympics, I was so serious and intense, so I’m glad people will be able to see my personality and see me have fun and go crazy here. The [cha-cha] is really fun and energetic, so I’m excited for people to see it. It’s a totally different side that people don’t know exists.

What’s the basic stuff that you don’t get? Counting steps?
Raisman: Yeah, they’re literally the easiest steps in the world. It’s so embarrassing. Sometimes I get really frustrated and Mark’s like, “You’re not at the Olympics. Stop getting frustrated.” I have to remember to relax and not be so hard on myself if I can’t get it right in 30 minutes. I feel bad because I don’t want to disappoint him, but he doesn’t get mad at me. I know I’m not going to get everything right away. … But I think the more I learn choreography, the easier it will be. The Kellogg’s Tour really helped me. You’re used to performing in front of crowds and audiences, but this is hard because I have absolutely no idea what the next dance is going to be. I have no idea the technique you need. I think the most important thing is to be positive and keep an open mind. Obviously there’ll be some things that will go easier and everyone has different strengths and weaknesses.

DWTS 16 POLL: Who’s Your Favorite Couple & Who Will Win???

Now that all the couples have (officially) been announced and we’ve got 6 days to go before the premiere, it’s time to see where our couples stack up in terms of popularity and skill with our readers.  You know the drill – the first poll is your FAVORITE couple (not necessarily which couple you think will win), and the second poll is the couple you think will win this season of DWTS (not necessarily your favorite).  Vote away!

DWTS Season 16 – FIRST Rehearsal Videos!!

Ya’ll (yes, just watched Kellie) are going to have to put up with me occasionally today as I believe Vogue might still be having computer issues. Or internet issue. The end result is the same. I apologize that I do not have time to watch and comment on all the videos, so I won’t add any commentary and I’ll leave that to you all in the comments. I did watch Kellie and am suitably impressed. 🙂 All the videos can be found at DWTS You Tube Channel.

I'm a nerd and proud of it. Two degrees in geology also means I love BEER. :-) I'm also a Derek lover - proud of that too. So don't scream at those of us on this site and call us a bunch of "biased Derek-lovers" - it's just ME. :-) It may sound like I hate DWTS at times, but really, I'm just a snarky nitpicker from way back. And I'm cynical and jaded too. But I do love DWTS. :-)

DWTS Season 16 – Sean Lowe’s Big Announcement

In what was a surprise to exactly NO ONE, Sean was on GMA this morning with his :::cough:::temporary:::cough::: fiance and announced that he and Peta will be the 12th couple on DWTS.

They even had Peta on the show. Peta said they’d been keeping it a secret for a long time – I take that to mean that they’ve been training although they kinda claim that they haven’t been doing any training thus far.

ETA: Yes, they are very ambiguous on his status – I think he’s been training elsewhere, but they may try to make it look like he just started – much the way GMA tried. But the way everything was phrased, I got the impression he had been training. It was a very short segment – I think because the segment with Valerie Harper went longer.

Sean’s in these two videos – thanks to @Taryn_Wilke!!

UPDATE: This is Vogue and here is a video from GMA today….
