Go Inside Dancing With The Stars Week One Rehearsals With Lisa Vanderpump and Gleb Savchenko
George Pennacchio (our favorite Dancing With The Stars interviewer) of ABC7 interviewed Lisa Vanderpump and Gleb Savchenko in rehearsals for Dancing With The Stars. They show them dancing a little. Lisa says she has two left feet and her fear level will rate at an “11” before showtime. Gleb comments on Lisa too praising her on her looks for what she will bring to the show. Though things haven’t always been calm in rehearsals as Lisa’s dog Jiggy didn’t like Gleb at first. lol More below with these two….
UPDATE: Also, be be sure to visit People.com today and read a new blog by Lisa. Here is a little take. For more, see the link. 😉
As you know Dancing with the Stars season 16 starts Monday and I am part of the new cast. I can safely say that the most enjoyable part of the rehearsal process so far – apart from being wrapped around my gorgeous partner Gleb Savchenko for 10 days – is the camaraderie that is shared between everyone on the new season.
Dorothy Hamill is a darling of a woman, whom I have bonded with; boxer Victor Ortiz is hilarious – and basically everybody has so much support for one another. I have seen tears of frustration, outbursts due to nervousness and squeals of laughter as we marvel at this incredible experience we signed up for.
I can’t keep up with all the great stuff you’re finding for us Vogue :). Thanks for all of it, and I hope to watch the interviews later. I did read Lisa’s blog. She’s quite articulate and positive. Hope we get to see her around for a while.
You are so welcome and thank you for reading us and for all of your comments!!! xxx
I love Lisa’s wry sense of humor, and I can’t get enough of Gleb’s looks or his soft Aussie-Russian accent. Hope these two can surprise and delight viewers tonight because I want them to stick around for a while, too!
So Giggy didn’t like some other guy being up close and personal with “his woman”. *giggle* Too funny. I hope Gleb likes dogs because he’s in a strange Trio Dance.
I thought Lisa did pretty well for her first dance, though I must admit I am getting a strong feeling that Gleb is being primed to definately replace Maks. The reference to possibly taking his shirt off, and the sexual undertones along with his tall, dark look all echoed Maks to me. I don’t miss the Maks from the last couple seasons, and I hope having time away from the show helps him find his spark again, but I just wonder if Gleb wins over the viewers if Maks will be asked back for next season.
IDK about Gleb replacing Maks. He seems a bit too tame. I think if he stays, it’ll be because he creates his own little niche. I do worry for him though, because the reason people like Maks so much is because Maks has a TON of personality. I didn’t get much from Gleb aside from the taking off of the shirt and the slightly uncomfortable (for me, at least) sexual undertones. Maybe it’s just me, but Gleb hasn’t really made an impact on me yet.
Can ANYONE really make a significant impact after only 1 show without making the show entirely about themself and risk alienating more viewers? To me it simply looks like TPTB are trying to appease everyone by finding another male pro with a similar look and sex appeal to Maks, without (at present) all the Maks drama/moodiness/unpredictablity that contributes to his persona.
No don’t get me wrong, I like Gleb. I really do. I think he’s sweet. But the thing is, you have to be more than just “sweet.” The thing about Maks is, when he isn’t being obnoxious, he’s hilarious. I’m not a big Maks fan, but even I can’t help but laugh at the stuff that comes out of Maks’s mouth. I’m just hoping Gleb goes more along the personality route rather than just the sex appeal, because look what happened with Dmitry.
You make a good point about Dmitry, but were there other things as well with him as to why he didn’t come back? I think Peta has very little personality and not much creative choreo. She reminds me of Anna Demodova, who they didn’t keep around. Why are they still keeping Peta, because she did win 1 MBT? Then if that’s a criteria for getting to remain with the show, why did Alec Mazo go?
Dmitry you mean? I think for the most part, he was just boring as a person. Lacked personality. I’m not sure why they’re keeping Peta around (maybe it is the 1 MBT), but as far as Alec goes, well, I don’t know the full story, but from what I understand he and Edyta had a pretty big rift with the producers and they haven’t been back since 😛
Wow. Ok. That smiley face came out wrong. It was supposed to be like
😛
Damn. Still can’t get it. *gives up*
Looking back over pros from earlier seasons, there have been a few, female and male pros who have only had 1 or 2 seasons and never were back. My guess would be that TPTB have their arsenal of proven pros who they know help attract viewers, and then they have a few others who seem to have to earn their right to be on the show. These are the pros that they appear to rotate in and out. I think when Maks started talking about not renewing his contract, TPTB decided to rotate him out to see if viewers will increase or decrease. I have to say, though I always looked forward to Maks and his passionate/volatile persona, his last two seasons were very odd. He came across to to me as having lost all his passion and looked like he did not wanting to be there at all.
