Dancing With The Stars Season 16: Has “Dance Center” Been Killed Off?
First, it was Andy Dick’s elimination we had to protest and now what about this? According to this tweet by Kenny Mayne, producers have “killed” Dance Center this season. This is one of the best things about Dancing With The Stars. Are they crazy? Please TPTB, bring it BACK!!! 🙁 😕
“@J_Edwards0703: I can't wait to see @Kenny_Mayne on Dance Center!! #DWTS” (it got killed)

Thanks to @DWTSGossip for the heads up on this news! This makes me sad! 🙁
The producers are systematically removing everything the core audience used to love about the show and replacing it with GARBAGE. They basically eliminated ballroom routines from the Results Show and from many of the performance dances on Monday nights and they gave us gimmicks and made-up absurd dances like Surfer Flamenco and whatever. They eliminated Design A Dance which I enjoyed, and now they’ve canned Dance Center which was hilarious and one of my favorite segments each season. The producers could care less about the fans that made the show the monster hit it became. They are chasing a “younger demographic” for whatever reasons, and obviously the kids don’t “get” the humor of Dance Center, so it’s gone.
Couldn’t agree more! Well said!
They are systematically ruining the show. Ballroom—gone Crap in. they need to get back to basics. The ‘kids’ have other channels to get there music and dance, why impose it on adults.
What do I think? !$#|{\_]~~#!!!&$@(?;:$$$@@#{||_*^!£+!!!! Those Stupid, arrogant, dumb-ass, “sell-their-children-to-satan-for-a-half-point-in-the-right-demo”, sorry, no-good producers! NYCGirl called it- the hormonal little tweeners wouldn’t get the humor, and us older folks just don’t matter anymore. So, Dance Center dies to leave room for another f__king twitter pile of s__t.
EFF-off, TPTB! YOU SUCK!
… and that’s a reasonable summation of how I feel…
Sally I couldn’t have said it better.
Thanks Vogue. Sally ITA with every word you couldn’t say. lol
+1 Sally!
Sandra, I agree. I’d love to see them go back to the basics.
The younger demographic wouldn’t get what Kenny had to say .I am opting out of watching next season. This show has jumped that poor old shark
Sally – thank you for speaking so eloquently for so many of us!
Maybe we should all slam their twitter acct with protest tweets since they love using twitter for contests so much this season!
I am just to stand here with my arms crossed, holding my breath and stomping my feet like a petulant 5 yr old until yhey bring it back. (They seem to watch the kids to watch so I’ll act like one)
And the Oscar goes to Sally!!!! Priceless!
This show is sinking fast, if this keeps up it just may enter the point of no return. It does make me want to cry, DWTS was always my number 1 favorite show.
I am repelling this week. No Andy, no watchee. It’s the Voice tonight for me. I will vote for Kellie and Derek online then watch their performance.
Oops! Should read “I am rebelling this week.”
All – TY for supporting my tirade. 😉 Dyann – I’ll be sending a few “#DWTS” tweets tonight, but I doubt they’ll put ’em on air. 😛
Yep. This show is officially crap. Sandy, I, too, am boycotting the show this week. So sit back, PTB, and watch your numbers continue to sink while completely ignoring the fact that your best ratings were BEFORE all the gimmicks and sh!tter voting were incorporated. You wanna fix the show? Bring back Dance Center, stop with the wacko themes, and hey, while you’re at it, bring back Adam Carolla! And replace Brooke with Carson/Andy/combination of the two/someone who isn’t dimwitted.
THIS^^^
I would add Sara… stop the manipulation. Stop forcing people we want to see (Andy) off the show and shoving ppl we don’t have a connection with (Zendaya) down our throats..jmho
Thanks Vogue 🙂
@PJ Amen.
This is the second season I follow since the very beginning and I’m getting enough of it already… Still didn’t get over last season’s final result, the judges being assholes (#GoodByeGoodman) and three weeks without Andy Dick, he wasn’t my favorite to win, but my fav to stick around much longer, but now he’s gonne, I can’t vote for anyone else, even my favorite couple! =/
What’s the problem with the (reality) tv shows these days?! They should be pleasing most of the people, but I’m pretty sure they’re doing the opposite, and they know that because they read puredwts.com!!!!!!!
PTB,
Wanna put a younger star in to a attract tweens? Fair enough.. But don’t shove her down our throats.
Want to try to get rid of a weaker dancer? Fine. Just don’t straight up insult him.
Do a Twitter contest for whatever? Just ask who’s dance you thought was best, no extra points, no encore, NOTHING? Or maybe for a 20 second pro dance bumper on the results show.
Get rid of Design a Dance? Whatever. But replace it with something good.
Add a non-ballroom style? Only one, either contemporary or jazz, and do them in the same night later in the season with a guest judge qualified to judge it.
Add more twists? I thought instant dances, trios, and marathons were fine the way they were.
Crazy themes? Well themes are fine, when done right. Broadway, Acoustic, Classical, heck even Classic Disney week(only songs from Walt Disney movies) week, but no prom week or something else gimmicky like that.
Get rid of Dance Center? That’s stupid. But if it HAS to be done, put in Carson Kressley fashion commentary or something in its place.
Trying to do things tobappeal to a larger audience is okay, but don’t manipulate the show, as you can see, it ain’t prettym
DANCE CENTER was the BEST part. Bring it back and or get Kenny to take Brooke’s place and get some humor into things. Brooke seriously asks, “How did it feel to trip on your feet tonight?” and the answer is, “Oh it’s all good you know”. HELLO producers….THAT is boring us to death. Get a comedian in that spot to keep things lively, bring back Dance Center every night and stop with the stupid “prom night” themes. Everyone I work with has stopped watching and now that I have found out Dance Center is gone I am gone too. Thanks producers for ruining a good thing.
