I'm a nerd and proud of it. Two degrees in geology also means I love BEER. :-) I'm also a Derek lover - proud of that too. So don't scream at those of us on this site and call us a bunch of "biased Derek-lovers" - it's just ME. :-) It may sound like I hate DWTS at times, but really, I'm just a snarky nitpicker from way back. And I'm cynical and jaded too. But I do love DWTS. :-)

PureDWTS Chelsie Hightower And Sasha Farber Add “Taste Of Glamour” To Dallas Dance Show

Dancing With The Stars Sasha Farber and Chelsie Hightower also celebrated National Dance Day this weekend. The two pros travelled to Dallas, Texas to perform and teach dance for Bree Hafen’s Positive Space Company at the Eisemann Center for Performing Arts. You can see a fun picture of them at this link. Sasha has also tweeted some fun pics of them before the show. Below is a take from a fun review at Theatre Jones. Note: the program continues today at 2 p.m. at the Eisemann Center. Don’t miss it if you live in the Dallas area.

The belly-dancing: Habibi and Egyptic performed by Janelle Issis, was another matter altogether. Wearing a flowing white skirt and bra in Habibi and gold cape and blue skirt in Egyptic, Issis seems barely to move as a cascade of rippling abdominal muscles flow in tiny isolation. When she does skirt the floor, some part of her body—hips, arms, or torso—continues to undulate like uncoiled snakes.

And then for a taste of glamour, two cast members from Dancing with the Stars, Chelsie Hightower and Sasha Farber, heat up the stage with some saucy Latin dancing.

The second act features Positive Space performing three dramatic acts by Ms. Hafen: “Humanity,” “Home,” and “Healing.” The centerpiece involves a couple and their daughter, with the husband banned by his wife, who reconciles, and then loses her when she goes off to war. Three “fates” intervene from time to time, and at the end the dead wife returns as an angel, imploring her husband to seek a new wife.

If the story gets a bit too treacly at times, there is another clever dance episode to compensate, especially when the ensemble shots legs and arms out in all directions.

More at Theatre Jones.

DWTS Mark Ballas, Lindsay Arnold, Sharna Burgess, Peta Murgatroyd Celebrate National Dance Day At The Dizzy Feet Foundation Gala

You won’t want to miss viewing some fabulous new photos of Dancing With The Stars Mark Ballas and Lindsay Arnold attending the 3rd Annual Dizzy Feet Foundation’s Celebration Of Dance Gala at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion in Los Angeles, California last night at Getty Images.

As far as we know, Peta Murgatroyd also attended this event and was planning to dance with Mark Ballas according to her twitter, but, Getty doesn’t have any new photos of her.

The three were on tap as well as other dancers and celebs to celebrate National Dance Day! All proceeds from the event funds and supports dance and dance education for children in low-income areas. Dizzy Feet also provides scholarships to students and supports and increases quality of dance education in the United States.

To see a round up of pictures from the night for other stars who attended like Paula Abdul, Allison Holker, and more, see Wire Images.

ADDING: According to @DMITRYDREAMTEAM at twitter, former Dancing With The Stars pro Dmitry Chaplin was also at this event. He performed with Anya Garnis. Anya tweeted this picture.

ADDING 2: Sharna Burgess also attended this event. Wow, she looks gorgeous too. Check her out!! It’s good to see her return back to California!!

Derek Hough Returns to DWTS for Season 17??

Among many, MANY other things the man has going on, apparently. According to the LA Times, hosting a TV show, producing two other TV shows and possibly writing a book aren’t enough things to keep Derek busy…he’s apparently coming back to DWTS. When you see who’s backing some of his gigs, you can maybe see why it’s beneficial. Gorgeous and a smart business man too – who knew?? 🙂

Be sure to read the whole article – it’s chock full of interesting info. An excerpt from the LA Times:

Hough is in talks with a major publisher for a book next year that he hopes will inspire people to realize their full potential. “The book is just my sharing my experiences and anecdotes,” he said.

The TV series, a book and this week’s performances aren’t all that is on his plate. Hough has various production deals in the works, including a scripted series that he and his sister, “DWTS” alum Julianne Hough, are producing for Starz and BBC Worldwide set in the world of competitive ballroom dancing in Blackpool, England.

“We are in the early stages,” Derek Hough said. “We found a writer and we’re very excited.”

He also is executive producer of a GSN pilot for a series called “Dance Rivals,” which revolves around two respected dance studios in Orem, Utah. And Hough hosts an upcoming ABC special, “Family Dance Off,” which featured six families putting on their dancing shoes and competing for prize money. “It’s a really feel-good show,” he said.

Of course, he’ll be back for the new season of “Dancing With the Stars,” which begins Sept. 16. This year, the series has eliminated the often snoozy Tuesday results show and will just air Monday evenings.

Get READY!! With this news, it’s almost time for Pro Watch!!
