DWTS Mark Ballas Speaks At Variety’s Sports Entertainment Summit, Update On New Album
Awww, it’s good to see Mark Ballas again. The Dancing With The Stars pro has had a busy summer promoting his music. In fact, you can read a little update on him and his new album coming out at MarkBallas.com. Here is a small take from it.
In the studio, Ballas is working on recording what he hopes will introduce people to a new sound and a hearty body of work.
“It’s a pop record, but it’s definitely got essences of funk and Flamenco. … It’s very soulful in the lyrics and the melody, but it’s still a pop album,” he says of his debut release. “It sounds like my personality.”
Also, pictured above is Mark at speaking onstage during the ‘Branding the Athlete – Winning in a Jungle of Social, Entertainment and Endorsement Choice’ panel at Variety’s Sports Entertainment Summit in Beverly Hills, California last week. If you’d like to see more new pics of him, visit Zimbio Pictures.
For the sports summit, I read some quotes that he said during it. All he talked about was dwts and how producers try to promote the celebs through twitter. Good news he’s talking about dwts again?? For awhile I thought the producers might be giving him the season off. Still not getting my hopes up, you never know!!
With Mark, I either love him or hate him. But ever since he got the whole wizard thing off his chest, he really hasn’t bugged me too much. So I say, “Bring him on”, Let the season begin!
Sandy, it’s funny. I feel the exact same way!!
Have not been a fan for several seasons. I hope Mark takes a season off to “focus on his music.”
The wizard thing! Ha ha! So true…..
…..except last season I started missing obnoxious Mark. Anything rather than I’m-so-over-it Mark. A season off might be a good thing.
While I do agree a season off would be good for Mark, I’m never in favor of “obnoxious” anybody. Being obnoxious is just unacceptable in my book. I can (and do) ignore those who are quietly mailing it in.
I do think a season off is good for any and all of the pros… And when Mark shared his rude “hand gesture”… with all of the DWTS world, it was evident that it was time for his to take a “vacay”. But since then I think he has been tolerable…
My real concerns are Cheryl and Maks.. And with Kym out (and if things work out for her, she quite possibly could be permanent), then I think we still need some seasoned pros to stay on and possibly rotate each season to keep things comfortable but fresh. Just my two cents. 🙂
cidra – I’m joking and not really supporting obnoxiousness. Mark’s season with Chelsee was an absolute nadir. The pros do need to show some passion for me to care though.
I agree, Jaycee, as long as that passion doesn’t lead to being grossly unprofessional. It’s bad enough we have to put up with obnoxious behavior from the “illustrious” judging panel (who seem to have carte blanche to say whatever they want). Having the pros sink to their level of rudeness (even if they have cause) is just ugly.
That said, I’d love it if, just once, after a particularly cutting or stupid remark from the judges, one of the pros would calmly say something like, “I understand you’re here to give your opinion, but you don’t have to be rude while doing so” and then head up the stairs. 😈
