DWTS TV Ratings For for Oct. 21-27th, Hits #1 Monday Night Oct. 28th

This is cool! Last week, Dancing With The Stars was the 2nd Most Watched TV show Monday night next to The Voice. Well, this week, Dancing With The Stars beat The Voice on Monday night for the #1 spot!! Yay! Below are some more figures from ABCMedia Net.

“Dancing with the Stars” (8:00-10:00 p.m. – 12.972 million and 2.0/5 in AD18-49)

ABC’s “Dancing with the Stars” finished as Monday’s most-watched entertainment show, moving ahead of “The Voice” (12.972 million vs. 12.968 million). Also in its time period, “Dancing” outdrew CBS’ 2-hour comedy block by 5.6 million viewers (7.4 million). Nicole “Snookie” Polizzi was eliminated this week.

•“Dancing” was up 1-tenth from its week-ago Fast Affiliate Adult 18-49 rating and even with its National number. On average, “Dancing” is up year to year in both Total Viewers (+4%) and Adults 18-49 (+4%).

In overall TV ratings from Oct. 21 – 27th, Dancing With The Stars placed at 11th falling two places from 9th last week. Here is more from the Star Tribune.

1. “NCIS,” CBS, 18.99 million.

2. “The Big Bang Theory,” CBS, 16.99 million.

3. NFL Football: Green Bay at Minnesota, NBC, 16.89 million.

4. World Series Game 4: Boston at St. Louis, Fox, 15.98 million.

5. “World Series Game 4 Pregame,” Fox, 15.38 million.

6. “The OT,” Fox, 15.24 million.

7. “NCIS: Los Angeles,” CBS, 14.92 million.

8. World Series Game 1: St. Louis vs. Boston, Fox, 14.4 million.

9. “The Voice” (Monday), NBC, 13.69 million.

10. World Series Game 2: St. Louis vs. Boston, Fox, 13.43 million.

11. “Dancing With the Stars,” ABC, 13.35 million.

12. NFL Football: Minnesota vs. N.Y. Giants, ESPN, 13.24 million.

13. “Person of Interest,” CBS, 13.17 million.

14. “The Voice” (Tuesday), NBC, 13.14 million.

15. “The Walking Dead,” AMC, 12.92 million.

I have to say….with the World Series taking place currently, I’m not really surprised. I wouldn’t be panicked about it, but, let’s see what Heidi thinks….

Heidi: Nah, the news appears to be all good for DWTS. It’s up year to year in both the total viewers and the demo. The top 10 is just a rank of that week of all TV – DWTS is normally top 10, but all the sports always kicks everyone down a few notches – Even the Voice’s tuesday show fell out. Subtract out four World Series games and DWTS is back up to Number 7.  It still sucks in the demo, but it’s going up instead of down. Always good to go up. 🙂

Cheryl Burke And Jack Osbourne Start Working On The Tango For Dancing With The Stars

Cheryl Burke writes of how excited Jack Osbourne is to have made it this far on Dancing With Their Stars. I’s been an amazing journey and they bonded quickly. This week they have the Tango and she thinks it might be Jack’s best dance yet. More in detail below and at Life & Style Magazine.

Jack’s very honest with me when he needs to rest. He knows his limits better than I do and I know that I need to listen to him even when I want to push on.

He has a will to show people that a Multiple Sclerosis diagnosis isn’t the end of life. He has a daughter that he wants to be proud of him and his accomplishments. He’s facing a big fear every week dancing live in front of millions of people and there’s nothing more inspirational than that.

I’m really excited to start working on our dance for next week’s show. We’re going to start rehearsing today with a nice fix to six-hour session! We have the Tango and I think it might be Jack’s best dance yet.

Jack’s thrilled that we’ve made it this far. Our goal was week five. Jack is one of the few people on the show with no dance experience. What he’s accomplished these last 11 weeks of training and performing is amazing. Thank you so much for all of your support!

DWTS Season 17 Update On Valerie Harper’s Health Condition

“We are all terminal and it’s great to face that — and then discard it,” she insists. “Don’t live in fear of dying.”

Great news for Dancing With The Stars Season 17 contestant Valerie Harper. She tells Closer Weekly that her cancer has regressed again.

“[My doctor] said, ‘At the rate we are going, you don’t have to worry,’” she tells Closer in an exclusive sit-down interview. “‘You will see Christmas!’”

After two promising prior scans, Valerie knew the odds were against her: “I thought, could I be so lucky to have that happen again?”

It was just seven days after being eliminated from Dancing with the Stars that Valerie had to face “D-Day,” her term for the Oct. 14 brain scan that would reveal whether her cancer had progressed.

After so many months of saying her goodbyes, Valerie arrived for her interview with Closer exulting that she is “signing up for life!”

Sharing the unexpected good news that the test showed her cancer has continued to regress, Valerie tells Closer, “I do believe in miracles.” Still, she candidly admits that, yes, she knows her health situation remains precarious. “It can turn on a dime.”

More at Closer Weekly. Today is featuring an article on her too. In the article it mentions how she is considering doing Broadway and a new film next year. What an amazing woman and here’s to seeing her and Tristan again during the Finale!!

DWTS Karina Smirnoff Interviewed About Her Life, Dancing, And Future Dreams

This is such a cool interview with Karina Smirnoff. Not sure when she did this (this past summer sometime?), but, they ask her some really good questions about her life, dancing career, and what she’d like to do in the future. Be sure to read the full interview and see a sweet picture of Karina to go with it at Newsday. It’s a great one! Jim will love this!

In your career, what do you think you’re going to do next and why?

I’m loving where my career is right now. I think it’s incredible to have an opportunity to perform on Broadway, which is the biggest and the best stage in the world, but I would love to continue and pursue acting more. I just did a movie like I said and it’s a different emotional release than dancing because now you have a dialogue and you have to become the character you’re playing. So I would love to get into acting more, but continue dancing. I think dancing will always be a part of me. When I’m 99 years old and have a walker, I’ll probably still do the cha-cha cha.

While you’re not dancing what do you do for fun?

I love reading. I don’t get enough time to read, but I have my Nook and every time I’m on a plane I pull it out. I love going to movies and doing normal stuff. Going to eat frozen yogurt, that we’ve been doing almost like twice a week while we’re in New York. I love playing with my godson, he’s 41/2 and super smart and super sweet and always keeps me on my toes. And just love spending time with my family because that’s what matters the most.

What’s your favorite style of dance?

It’s like what’s your favorite flavor. I love tango. I love tango because it’s a whole story. You have the beginning, the middle, the end in the dance that when you finish the tango you feel like you completed the whole story. I love fun dances. I love the salsa, cha-cha. On “DWTS” we get to do a lot of styles in one season especially if we go all the way to the end. We have 11 weeks of competition and halfway through we start with two dances. So as long as I love the music, I love the style.

Was it easy to make a transition from “DWTS” to Broadway?

It’s different. To be able to dance on TV you know like you have to think of camera angles and how it’s going to be viewed from television what people are going to see at home. So you always keep that in mind. On Broadway it’s live and you’re only interacting with one side. Because you have, like in the theater you have three sides, we call them blind because there’s no audience. The audience is only in front of you and even though you want to dance for them, it’s always better if you dance for yourself and maybe become part of that experience. And they connect with you a lot better that way. Is it difficult, yes because every single day you’re doing the same routine and it becomes almost like something that you just like a robot you kind of repeat, but you have to push that aside and find every single day find something new in the routine to make it special. Otherwise, you just go through motions. It is difficult but it is also extremely fulfilling because then after the shows over you go outside and you meet you fans. You meet people who come to the show and you get to interact with them and they tell you what they liked, what they loved.

Where was your first recital?

That was back in the Ukraine. My first recital that was a funny story. For some reason I invited my whole school to come and watch me do my very first dance recital, which was a huge mistake because I was so nervous back to your question. When I get to the stage and I see everybody there that I know staring at us, I get freaked out and I take my partner and I turn us around so now he’s facing the front and I’m facing the back. And then he sees everyone and he gets nervous so he takes and puts me in front. So instead of dancing for the whole dance, we were just switching places. It was not very good and we didn’t win for sure.

ETA: And below is Corbin and Karina on Access Hollywood this morning….

DWTS Tony Dovolani Starting To Wonder About The Finals, Val Chmerkovskiy Talks Of Bill Engvall And More

Just a few blogs that we need to rant on a little and maybe you do too? First up, Tony Dovolani has written a new blog at In Touch. I have to laugh at how seriously he took that the other team was spying on his team as if they seriously needed help or hints from them? Also, after seeing he and Leah’s dance Monday night, did you see anyone who said, “gosh, I can’t believe she did that”? He’s also starting to wonder if they will make the finals. 😯

Every week is crucial now, especially as we have some momentum. It’s time to push it and poor Leah… that’s what I’ve been doing! I made her do things in last night’s salsa she never imagined and she does not hate me for it. I’ve been overzealous with the choreography and making sure we get out there and have people say, “gosh, I can’t believe she did that.”

Last night, we also had the team dance with Elizabeth/Val, Snooki/Sasha and Bill/Emma. Our team is pretty cool and we’re not caring much what the other team is doing but they spied on us! I’m like really, why? They have Corbin, Amber and Brant? Everyone on our team embraced the spirit of what the team dance is all about and we’ve been texting and face timing to help each other prepare for it. It’s going to be a lot of fun.

I hope we continue to do well, as now is the point I’m starting to get hopeful that we have the goods to make it to the finals. After being on the show for so long you know not to think too far ahead, but there is a glimmer of hope and I’m starting to wonder about the finals, so wish us luck.

Val Chmerkovskiy has also written a new blog at Today. Check out what he writes about Bill Engvall and how Bill wanted to switch places with Snooki Monday night. He didn’t think it was right that Snooki got voted off. What a class act he (Bill) is. Val also writes of why he chose Bill first for their team dance.

After Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi was voted off Monday night, Bill Engvall, who was part of our team Spooky Bow Bow, said he couldn’t let this happen. He felt it was wrong that Nicole was leaving and so he was going to go over to Tom Bergeron and volunteer to leave the competition in her place.

Imagine what Bill was feeling. The whole ballroom is maybe upset because he’s safe and Nicole has to go home. That’s a lonely feeling. I talked to Nicole briefly after the show, but I’m concerned about Bill, too. He’s a great guy who works really hard. I told Bill that it wasn’t his fault and it had nothing to do with him. I said to Bill, “You volunteering to leave is not going to change anything. This is your journey. People want to see you do your thing. You’re here to grow and inspire people. It’d be more wrong for you to leave than it is that Nicole is going.”

Derek Hough and Amber Riley picked Corbin Bleu first for their group dance. They clearly went for the best. In my head, I automatically wanted to pick Bill because he’s the underdog, the person nobody expects anything to come out of. I made it my agenda to make sure he did well. He gave our group dance its heart. I didn’t want him tucked away in the back. I wanted to challenge myself and him and leave him with an incredible memory.

More at In Touch and Today.

Heidi rants: These guys, I swear. Tony needs to get a sense of humor, STAT! Dude, lighten up, have a little fun. BTW, Derek has won an Emmy and has never lost a team dance – do you REALLY think he needs to spy on you?? And clearly, Bill was returning the favor since he was joking about seeing their costumes. So your team was about a sense of what the team dance is all about?? You’ve been spending way too much time with the C Bros as the “us versus THEM” mentality has clearly rubbed off. His comments sound very petulant and not in the least what team dance is supposed to be about. And I’m not even going to touch on his comments about his choreo other than to say – you’d think after this many seasons on the show, and many other arcs similar to Leah’s that he would have SOME sense of how the show works and what could happen to Leah once they’ve managed to get rid of Bill. Leah isn’t a crap dancer like Hope Solo was, but if her arc doesn’t follow a similar trajectory to Hope’s then Leah has an ABC show in the works and they’re keeping her around for that reason only. Jesus, is he going to throw a FIT when the judges start getting real in probably two weeks. If Bill continues to stick around, they will continue to overscore everyone except him in hopes he leaves. If Bill gets eliminated, Tony might be in for a rude awakening – because by my reckoning, Leah is the next lowest on the totem pole. Okay, I lied…Tony, your choreo ain’t all that.

As for Val…my god, the smug sense of self importance! Yes, Val, we know BILL’S heroic attempts were all about you, and you picking him first was really all about how YOU wanted to give him a good experience and not shuffle him to the background. LOL – and you wanted to “challenge” yourself; if that’s not a backhanded slam I don’t know what is. Oh, and how horrible of Derek and Amber to want the best possible team – how horrible of Derek to make sure that HIS PARTNER is well served by the experience. Good God, man, what if it had been LIZ who had been the shocking elimination because of the 3 point difference between the two teams?? Do you not think that 3 points helped Jack over Nicole?? (Psst…Nicole was also on your team, dude.) You may not care about the points – but guess what? They matter just as much as the audience vote.

Pure Dancing With The Stars Guest Poem For DWTS Season 17 Week 7

Lois is back and this time she writes a fun poem for Dancing With The Stars Season 17 Week 7! Thanks Lois!

MY POEM FOR WEEK SEVEN
LOOSELY BASED ON THE ADDAMS FAMILY THEME SONG

THE SPOOKY, FOXY, OOKY BALLROOM FAMILY

They were Spooky, they were Foxy, they were ooky
The Ballroom Family was crazy and they were kooky

Their ballroom was a scream from each genius team
SpookyBomBom a Halloween graveyard it would seem

The Foxes were unleashed, sneaking around the floor
Foxing Awesome, their tails brought laughter and more

A mysterious announcement filled the ballroom air
Glory be, a guest judge will be the incredible Cher

The Ballroom Family felt pressure to do their very best
With each dance performed, they passed the final test

From Las Vegas to Los Angeles, Elvis came to inspire
Viva! Bill and Emma Quickstepped, they were on fire

A television anchor with special news went on the air
Elizabeth and Val’s Quickstep was attacked with flair

Tony and Leah shook their hips to a furious Salsa beat
Shimmying across the floor their steps were really neat

Brant and Peta Jived to a Tutti Fruitty, delicious song
It was a high-stepping treat, our feet Jived right along

Derek, Amber’s Paso Doble rocked the spooky crowd
Flying across the floor to rousing applause really loud

Corbin and Karina danced a sharpened Cha Cha Cha
Cheers rang out, there was many an oh, many an ah

Jack and Cheryl warmed up their feet with the Jive
It was a sparkling, spectacle, they surely came alive

Sasha and NIcole electrified with a Samba so fine
It was shimmery, glimmery, meriting scores of nine

The time came for the elimination, who would go
Oh dear, Sasha, Nicole surprisingly left the show

THE SPOOKY, FOXY, OOKY BALLROOM FAMILY
Flew through the ballroom, so bewitching to see

Week Eight will come next week how can that be
We will pay a return call to see the Ballroom Family!

By Lois A Troutman, October 29, 2013

SPOOKY, FOXY, OOKY BALLROOM FAMILY WERE SCREAMS!
HALLOWEEN, BOO! IT’S THAT TIME OF YEAR IT SEEMS!
