PureDWTS Guest Blog Poem For Week 4: “A VIVACIOUS, VIBRANT, VARIETY REVUE”

Lois is back with another one of her fun tribute poems. This time… for Dancing With The Stars Season 17 Week 4! THANKS LOIS!

A VIVACIOUS, VIBRANT, VARIETY REVUE

Variety spiced up the ballroom, the dances were not done twice
Each couple had a different dance mixed up with dancing spice

A VIVACIOUS, VIBRANT, VARIETY REVUE was an awesome sight
A lively, spirited, swinging show captivated us under the spotlight

A guest judge appeared as a magician’s trick pulled out of a hat
Opening number climaxed with Julianne Hough, how about that

A Viennese Waltz showcased Valerie and Tristan with much grace
A Samba was peppy, Emma and Bill ended with tears on his face

A Paso Doble by Corbin and Karina was a powerhouse of a dance
An Argentine Tango by Elizabeth and Val and a violin of romance

A Jive full of cheer by Sasha and Nicole livened up the ballroom
A Quickstep by Jack and Cheryl with happy feet, va-va-va-voom

A Foxtrot by Mark and Chrjstina, they danced to a jailhouse rock
A Cha Cha Cha by Tony and Leah, precise as a wound up clock

A Salsa by Peta and Brant shaken up with vigor, vim, and vitality
A Tango by Derek and Amber full of seductive, sultry personality

A VIVACIOUS, VIBRANT, VARIETY REVUE came to a sad end
The dancing duos had to say goodbye to an inspirational friend

Valerie and Tristan were chosen to depart from the ballroom floor
She bowed out with dignity, she gave us beauty, and much more

Next week the theme of the stars is a song of a memorable year
We hurry back to the ballroom, we wouldn’t miss it, we’ll be here!

Val Chmerkovskiy Writes About His Apartment Building Fire, Plugs Maks Again To Guest Judge On DWTS

Val Chmerkovskiy blogs about the fire at his apartment building Sunday night at Today. He writes that there was an electrical malfunction downstairs and something exploded. It combusted and the back end of the building caught on fire. There was smoke damage, but all of his ownings in the apartment are ok. More below on the fire and his dancing with Elizabeth Berkley this week. He also plugs his brother Maks again as a guest judge for Dancing With The Stars (he sure wants this to happen in the worse way, doesn’t he?).

Honestly, I don’t think that there’s anything in my apartment in terms of material stuff that I would have cared about if it had been lost. I’m actually already back in the apartment. They investigated what happened. They cleaned up all day so I could go back home after the show on Monday night. The fire didn’t really affect my performance. I wouldn’t let it. Dancing is my escape from everything else. It’s why I do what I do. I love dancing. It takes me to a different place. Nothing bothers my performance.

I loved incorporating the violin into our Argentine tango. I’m very proud of Elizabeth. She did a great job considering how much stress I put her under this week. I hope it was worth it to her.

My bigger goal when I’m on the show is making sure my relationship with my dance partner is a positive one. Last season, it wasn’t about my eyebrow (after I was accidentally hit there), it was about Zendaya’s performance. This year, it’s not about my apartment building catching on fire. It’s about Elizabeth’s performance.

I thought Julianne Hough did a great job as a guest judge. As I said in my last blog, I think my brother (Maks Chmerkovskiy) would be a great judge too. He’s a professional through and through. He’s an incredible person and is very passionate about his craft. He’d never let any sort of outside relationships or history get in the way of his integrity. He has no agendas against anyone here. My brother’s one of the nicest dudes you’re ever going to meet.

You can read the full blog in full at Today. Below is some E News coverage of the fire at Val’s apartment building as well….

PureDWTS Season 17 Exclusive: New Sharna Burgess Interview!!

SharnaBurgessSummer2013

A few of our readers had some really good questions to ask Dancing With The Stars Pro Sharna Burgess. Sharna answers questions about the most important things she’s learned once she became a pro on Dancing With The Stars. Sharna also takes us through the process of how she assesses her partner’s dance potential. She also chats on her pre-show rituals, her guilty pleasures, her dance mentors, and how she learned to choreograph for television and the movies. Lots more below. Enjoy! Thanks Sharna for another awesome interview!!xx

From Sandy:
What was the one most important thing that you learned about yourself once you became a pro on the show?

hmmm, thats tough! I think i learned greater patience, though I’ve always been a patient person, this show requires SO much of it. Patience is an art and a gift, and in tough situations it helps me stay calm, not sweat the small stuff and keep moving forward. Im such a passionate person that if my partner is not into it 150% i can become very frustrated. Dancing only works when you surrender to it and go all in, messing up is fine, but not trying is unacceptable. In saying that i have to remember that what can see like disinterest and disregard, is actually fear, and that is something that needs patience and nurturing if its going to be beaten.

From Cidra:
Please tell Sharna I think she’s an excellent competing pro, and I love her innovative choreography.

When you begin rehearsing with your new celeb, how do you begin to assess their dance potential? Do you start without music and see how they handle some basic Latin or standard steps, or do you put some music on the CD player and see how they move to music?

Hi Cidra!!! thank you very much!

The very first thing I need to know is Read more..
