Maks Chmerkovskiy Interviewed About Judging Dancing With The Stars, Says Will Be On Best Behavior
Maks Chmerkovskiy was a guest on VH1’s Big Morning Buzz Live show With Carrie Keagan this morning to talk about guest judging the Dancing With The Stars Semi-Finals. First, he told Carrie he was relieved he wouldn’t have to judge his brother Val as he is “toughest on the people he loves the most”.
On what kind of judge he will make, Maks said he’s excited and he never thought he’d be a part of this foursome (judging with Carrie Anne Inaba, Len Goodman, and Bruno Tonioli). He said he’s been a hypocrite when he danced on the show. Maks can be critical, but, he hopes to be fair as a judge. He also hopes everything he says will come out right and he will try and be on his best behavior. He knows how tired the dancers are at this point in the competition.
On who Maks thinks is the front runner, he names Corbin Bleu and praises Karina Smirnoff as being one of the best choreographers. He also gives Derek Hough big props too. He said Derek is a champion and says he always knows what to do to win during a finale.
Be watching VH1 as they may post video footage a little later.
ETA: Below is some video coverage:
It’s nice to see Maks give props to Derek and Karina (best male and female choreographers on the show IMO). I’m kind of excited to see him judge on Monday.
I have a little more respect for him now. Nice to see him finally give praise to others for a change.
I am looking forward to this. I think he has the POTENTIAL to be a good judge since he knows the competition from inside out. I also believe that he will strive to be fair. He knows that everyone is watching to see how he does. I have never believed that he hated Derek. Sure, he feels competitive and probably jealous at times, but I don’t think there is a feud. Maks and Karina seem to have created a better relationship since they did Broadway, so I think he will be okay with her, too, as he judges. Maks’ main problem is that he doesn’t always think before he speaks, and things come out wrong. Hoping for the best of him on Monday!
I agree cheryl c. I actually think Tony is the one who dislikes Derek the most out of the ‘fam’
MAks is being phony! He and his manager obviously reads what fans here and somewhere else says. We all know Maks never had the respect for Derek, the other judges, and the show itself. He’s made that known many times! Doing everything he can just to please the fans and him be accepted in the judging chair. He need a job desperately right now, and suddenly trying to do what he can to make his second chance as positive as possible.
Don’t forget how he wanted all the 3 judges gone for good, calling the show the worst show ever, and attacked some of the pros that gets in his way.
He thought he was untouchable, until he lost his job! He is twisting everything around for people to accept him again. He is desperate!
Just to remind everyone that Maks is known to be a pathological liar and manipulative. He’s shown that many times every time he gets in trouble. Sorry for the rant, but I can’t stand the guy!
I don’t know if Maks and Derek are buddies or not, but Maks has always respected Derek. Mark is the one who Maks hasn’t always thought so highly of.
I don’t believe that Maks is a hopeless sinner or bad guy. He is flawed and has made some bad decisions, but I like to believe that there is good in everyone and that people can change. Perhaps that is just the Polyanna in me.
Given what Vogue reported and what I saw in the video, I’m fairly hopeful that we’re going to see the “good” Maks on Monday. Perhaps Maks has learned some wisdom – or at least the value of discretion. I guess we’ll see.
Are you freakin kidding me? Bringing him in to judge the semi-finals? Sorry but I think it’s too soon for him to be a guest judge!
Julianne was toughest on her old buddy, Mark. Maybe Tony’s the one who should be most on guard with Maks.
One thing is for certain: As always, Maks will say, do and calibrate himself to whatever persona is most beneficial to Maks at the given moment.
@Vogue I don’t know if it’s my computer or what, but I missed where he praised Derek. My video stopped after he talked about Karina being a fantastic choreographer. Was that on the video?
They cut the end of the end of the interview off. Not sure why?
Thanks Vogue – at least it wasn’t my computer. 🙂
Wynn, isn’t that true of every human being most of the time? I’d like to meet the human being who doesn’t do that (for argument’s sake, let’s exclude Jesus from that list, especially since he’s half-human and half-God).
Oh joy…look who’s crawled out from under her bridge in order to create mayhem here at Pure! It’s none other than Sandra, everyone’s favorite Maks troll!!!!
Except she knows the rules, and taking swipes at other posters is verboten – therefore Sandra’s comment to Elena has earned an all-expenses-paid trip to the garbage, and Sandra just got the privilege of being put on comment moderation! Everyone give Sandra a big round o’ applause 8-D Thanks for playing.
