Mark Ballas Furthers the Derek Hough Myths in a New Interview with Inside Pulse

Gee, Mark, just when I start to actually LIKE you again, you attempt to give the Derek-Myths some actual substance. Careful, your jealousy is showing.  Then, look at your own partners – you’ve not exactly paid your dues either. The average age of your partners is 26, while the average age of Derek’s partners is 33. Being eliminated first doesn’t give you cred or “dues” – it just means your partner wasn’t popular (and that she wasn’t paired with Derek, since he’s had some unknown/unpopular people as well).  You get it right later in the interview AFTER throwing Derek under the bus – it is luck of the draw. Too bad you had to try to discredit Derek’s accomplishments as “luck” before you got to that TRUTH.

I'm a nerd and proud of it. Two degrees in geology also means I love BEER. :-) I'm also a Derek lover - proud of that too. So don't scream at those of us on this site and call us a bunch of "biased Derek-lovers" - it's just ME. :-) It may sound like I hate DWTS at times, but really, I'm just a snarky nitpicker from way back. And I'm cynical and jaded too. But I do love DWTS. :-)

DWTS Gleb Savchenko And Wife Elena Samodanova To Choreograph For So You Think You Can Dance

The Herald Sun is reporting that Dancing With The Stars Gleb Savchenko and his wife Elena Samodanova will be choreographing for the new reboot of “So You Think You Can Dance” in Australia. Below are a couple of takes from the link. Does this mean he won’t be back for the upcoming season of Dancing With The Stars (Oh man, if so, this is so making me cry as he is one of my very fave male pros along with Derek and Henry! 🙁 🙁 )? Stay tuned. We’re going to contact him and see if he can let us know something.

ELENA AND GLEB

Both appeared in the 2011 series of Dancing With The Stars Australia and regulars on the US version (last year he partnered with Real Housewives star Lisa Vanderpump). Married with daughter Olivia.

Dance means “seeing stories come to life from inside the body. With the two of us, it’s not just the power of one, it’s the power of two.”

Russian-born ballroom stars Gleb Savchenko and his wife Elena Samadanova leaped at the chance to return to Australia, after appearing in the 2011 season of Seven’s Dancing With The Stars.

Savchenko, who recently partnered Real Housewives favourite Lisa Vanderpump, hopes the popularity of Channel 10’s reboot of the show continues to grow “so people see the best of what these (local) dancers can do.”

“It’s such a great team…with Jason Gilkison…and of course Paula Abdul. this is the best you can ask for.”

ETA: We’ve heard back from Gleb!! Below is what he’s written back to us…

Me and Elena are both really excited to be Ballroom-Latin choreographers for SYTYCD here in Australia. It’s gonna be an amazing season!!!

We’ve been dancing together for more than 8 years and it’s such a pleasure for me to work and create something together with Elena again. It’s an amazing team works on SYTYCD Jason Gilkinson, Paula Abdul, Aaron Cash and Shannon Holtzapffel and we are so proud to be amongst them.

At the moment I’m focused on my work here, but if DWTS will ask me to be back for the coming season, for sure I’ll be back.

Let’s hope Dancing With The Stars will ask him back. They’d be crazy if they didn’t. In the meantime, I’m so happy he is able to work with beautiful Elena again and that they’ve landed such amazing roles on “So You Think You Can Dance” in Australia. ((((GLEB & ELENA))))xxx

Former DWTS Costume Maker Randall Christensen Designs For Meryl Davis And Charlie White

Just an FYI!! Did you know former Dancing With The Stars costume maker Randall Christensen designed Meryl Davis and Charlie White’s costumes for the Olympics? This is so cool. Read on….

“The Olympic stage is the biggest stage in the world. It doesn’t get any bigger than this.”

In a workshop full of sequins, sashes, and all things that sparkle, Christensen is creating works of art.

United States ice dancers Meryl Davis and her partner Charlie White are showing off Randall’s designs on the ice in Sochi. Randall says he was moved to tears by the pair in rehearsals.

“All of a sudden I felt something on my cheek, and realized it was tears. I was crying, I was so proud.”

He believes getting the outfits just right is crucial for the athletes.

“Everything is riding on their look when they take the ice. The hair, the makeup, your presentation, fingernails, everything, including the costume sets the tone before you have to back it up with your skating.”

Randall hopes he provides the tools needed to be the best.

“If I can help you feel that way when you take the floor or take the ice, my job is done, and I have you on your way to being successful, I think.”

He did such a good job. I’m loving their costumes. More at ABC15. Don’t forget, Meryl and Charlie skate this weekend. For more details, see this link at Pure Derek Hough. Pure Derek Hough is also featuring a new interview with Derek Hough where he talks of how he choreographed their short program. All eyes on this captivating pair! Let’s hope they take Gold!!
