Guest Poem: “Bubbles In The Ballroom” For Dancing With The Stars Season 18

Lois is back and just in time for the start of Dancing With The Stars Season 18 with some bubbling perspective…

BUBBLES IN THE BALLROOM

Uncork the champagne, the bubbles will rise
Season 18 opens March 17 before our eyes

Glasses will clink together, a toast we will share
New couples will celebrate their time on the air

Diverse in nature, new couples will take the floor
Excitement crescendoes, the audience will roar

Popping bubbles will be twelve dancing pairs
Introduced and descending the ballroom stairs

Danica and Val will be ready to shimmy, to shake
Meryl and Maxsim’s moves take the ballroom cake

Charlie and Sharna will dazzle the ballroom crowd
Drew and Cheryl will accept applause so very loud

Amy and Derek will charm the ballroom, will be sweet
Peta and James will dance to the beat with their feet

Candace and Mark will twirl, whirl with amazing grace
NeNe and Tony can’t help but put a smile on our face

Cody and Witney will bring enthusiasm with their faces
Billy Dee, Emma will shine in heels and dance shoelaces

Diana and Henry will dive right in with gusto and glee
Sean and Karina will be a spectacular sight we will see

BUBBLES IN THE BALLROOM will tickle and will delight
Our glasses raised anew each marvelous Monday night!

DWTS18: Introducing our new cast!

First, let’s WELCOME! the new cast of Dancing With The Stars, Season 18!  If anything, this season will have people talking!  I don’t know if that will be a good thing or a bad thing yet.  Time will tell.  Here’s a quick bio of our new cast, since it is unusual that everyone knows everyone.  None of them will be complete, so I’m sure there’s things that you think I should have added.  Put it into the comments section, please.

DANICA MCKELLER  is 39 years old and has lived in the Los Angeles area for most of her life.   Since it is stated  in her IMDB profile that her mom owned a dance studio, it is probably safe to assume that she has had dance training.  She was Winnie Cooper on “Wonder Years,” and I am old enough that I remember when that show was first on!  She’s very intelligent, she graduated Summa Cum Laude from UCLA as a Math major, and has written a few books to help youth with math (I think…)  In other words, she’s beauty AND brains!  Danica is paired with Val Chmerkovskiy.  I’m not sure yet about this couple.  They look good together, and they will get past the halfway part of the season, because they look good together.  That means they have TONS of chemistry to the judges, whether we can see it or not.

CODY SIMPSON is 17 years old and from Australia.  He DOES have a girlfriend, she’s the daughter of one of the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills so if TPTB were hoping for some romance between him and Witney, they’re out of luck! And he’s a singer.  And honestly, that’s about it!  And he seems to be extremely popular on Social Media.  Cody is paired with Witney Carson.  This is her 1st season as a teaching pro, she spent 2 seasons in the Troupe, immediately following a season on SYTYCD.  I will be honest, I was completely against pairing them up, and I still am against pairing them up.  Yes, they needed someone young, since they cast a teenaged boy, but I think she’s too untested.  I know Zendaya was the same age, but teenage boys do mature slower than girls.  I keep remembering the other Cody, who was 19 when he was on.  This Cody is even younger, so I do think that while he does need a younger female pro, he also needs someone quite mature, and I think Witney is too untested yet.  And, I don’t think I know her choreography skills.  I think she’s the latest in a long line of them trying to find Julianne 2.0 and I don’t think it will succeed.  Again, they’re young and cute and look good together, so to the judges, it will equal “tons of chemistry.” Read more..

DWTS Producer Conrad Green Comments On Switch Up Dance And More

According to Producer Conrad Green via Hollywood Reporter, the “Switch Up” dance will take place halfway through the season of Dancing With The Stars. He also says the casting is getting more difficult with each season. Below is more including his thoughts on why they decided to make the changes they did. Be sure to read more at the link!

“The practical reality is that we have to keep engaging with a younger audience as well as our substantial older one,” says executive producer Conrad Green. “Obviously life would be easier for us if we were only judged on the sheer scale of our audience.”

The play for younger viewers, which saw veteran co-host Brooke Burke-Charvet and longtime bandleader Harold Wheeler axed, hasn’t been without strife. The American Federation of Musicians president Ray Hair blasted the decision by ABC and producer BBC Worldwide to drop Wheeler and his 28-member orchestra, describing it as “artistic fraud.” The new, smaller band led by Ray Chew will be more focused on current hits — prerecording the more produced elements in lieu of using costly master tracks. “This was a creative decision to increase the amount of live music on the show,” says Green, who maintains Dancing still will emphasize the band. “The way the union responded on this, without ever talking to us, was pretty poor.”

Green admits each season becomes more difficult to cast (Winter Olympians Charlie White and Meryl Davis, reality star NeNe Leakes and NHL alum Sean Avery headline season 18). He says new interactive elements are the real draw. Voters will have final say in eliminations, and pairings briefly will be switched halfway. Also, fan favorite Maksim Chmerkovskiy will return after quitting in 2012. Says Green: “Our viewers want to see him competing again.”

ETA: According to some new cast interviews with E Online, the Switch Up dance will take place in week 3!! Thanks to Kaitlyn for letting us know. More HERE!!

EAT2: You can read more of what the pros think of the Switch up dance at Today. Below is a take…

“I don’t know how it’s going to be,” Maksim Chmerkovskiy, who’s returning to the show after a two-season break from the competition, told TODAY. “They’ve tried explaining it to us four times. There was a lot of confusion. It’ll be a little awkward if I get paired up with someone who loves me, but (my partner) Meryl (Davis, the Olympic ice skating champ) wants to stay with me, too.”

“Normally, I don’t mind change,” said Tony Dovolani, who’s paired with “Real Housewives of Atlanta” star NeNe Leakes. “But changing partners is raising my eyebrows. I don’t like sharing my women! I grow them into the partners that I want them to be, and … halfway through the season there will be a switcheroo? You can feel cheated.”

Changing partners can also potentially affect the progress that stars make under their assigned pro.

“You build a relationship with your partner,” offered Sharna Burgess, who’s paired with Davis’ Olympic partner, Charlie White. “You develop your own language, and you learn how to work with each other. The odds of someone moving to another person with (equal success) are unlikely.”

Gleb Savchenko And Tristan MacManus Thankful And Wish The New Cast Of DWTS Best Wishes

Gleb Savchenko and Tristan MacManus are such class acts! Even though they aren’t doing the new season of Dancing With Stars, they had nothing but kind things to say. Gleb wished everyone the best at his twitter saying, “I’m wishing all the cast and crew @DancingABC great success with Season18. Have fun! #DWTS18.” He also tweeted, “Thank you guys for your support, but make sure all watch @DancingABC and vote vote vote!!!” As for Tristan, he has no hard feelings and he’s looking forward to the “next chapter”. Here is a take from MacManiacs.Org. Thanks to Eileen for sending us Tristan’s message.

The reasons I don’t know and never will but either way it doesn’t change a thing. You are in or you are out and it’s as simple as that. I can’t complain as every season that I have been included somebody else has missed out, so I wish everyone involved all the best of luck in the world. I have enjoyed my time on DWTS but I do think that this is the best thing for me. I sometimes need the kick up the arse to get what I really want to do done, and as always that will come when it comes, and you will know about it then. For now it’s a case of just making it happen. I have had three years on DWTS now and I am looking forward to the next chapter. The show didn’t end the way I would have wanted it to for me, but I was very lucky to be a part of the show at all.

Again, thank you all for the concern but honest to God I am grand, everything is great, and there will be no looking back for me. The missus is great, the dog is great, I’m great, and I’m straight back to teaching now anyway, just not on your tv. It just means that I can savage through St. Paddy’s day without worrying about working that day. Haha.”

Oh, I am going to miss these two. 🙁 Let’s hope they are back for the next season of Dancing With The Stars. In the meantime, let’s hope they make special appearances and dance in Ballroom With A Twist. Also, Tristan, as of right now, is scheduled to do the Holland America Cruises this year. Gleb and his wife are also helping with So You Think You Can Dance In Australia. Gleb will also be helping LA Ballroom. Note, and as previously reported, he will be teaching a Master Class there on April, 11th.

Much love and luck, Gleb and Tristan!!!xx We are going to miss you!! Show them some support and love in comments, All!! Know too that we will keep you updated on them both as they are much loved and fan favorites.
