Val Chmerkovskiy Writes About How He’s Not Perfect, The Anxiety On DWTS This Season, And More

Val Chmerkovskiy has written a new blog at Today. This time he talks more of Danica and their rehearsals saying he’s not perfect and how there is more anxiety this season (I can see why! There is so much for them all to deal with from a double elimination, the switch up dance, so called rivalries, pressure from the producers, and more). More below and at the link. Thanks to Lesley for the heads up!

Ultimately, this week gave us an opportunity to have a conversation and for me to show her that I’m not perfect. My teaching isn’t always perfect. I told Danica that I need her feedback and for her to able to tell me how she feels. We’re a team. When you spend five or six hours a day every day together — which we do — you can’t be flawless.

What happened was we’d had a great rehearsal for three hours and then, for the last hour, the producer told us we needed to get it all done. I felt this pressure and I put it on her. Her reaction that viewers saw in the video package was the result. It’s something I’m going to have to keep an eye out for and keep myself in check in the future. I told Danica, “If you see me getting in that zone where I get too demanding you can tell me and we’ll take five.”

This doesn’t mean we won’t try our hardest. Our relationship is give and take. This week, she gave me an opportunity to demand more and I did. I always will. This season is very challenging. The producers have made a lot of changes to the show. It’s tough. There are twists and turns and there’s the switch up coming up. That’s affecting us. There’s so much more anxiety this season.

People is also featuring a new article with Danica on how she keeps fit in interested in reading it too.

In other mentions….I was a bit shocked to see American Idol’s numbers falling as much as they have this season. I don’t think I’ve ever seen that show out of the Top 10, have you? I’m starting to get worried. A friend and I watch and review this show every week. He, like Heidi, predicted it’s downfall may be near and I’m starting to think they are right! *cries* 🙁

DWTS Peta Murgatroyd And James Maslow To Dance A Jive Next On DWTS

According to OK! Magazine, Peta Murgatroyd And James Maslow will be dancing a Jive on Dancing With The Stars Week 3. Below is more for how James is keeping in shape for his dances….

So can the gorgeous duo up the ante for next week’s show when they dance the jive?

“To be fair, I didn’t really fully go shirtless (for the salsa),” laughed James backstage after the show.

When asked if he did any extra sit-ups to get ab-ready for his performance, the Big Time Rush heartthrob said, “I wasn’t going quite for the hall of fame. But, yeah, you can be in good shape without trying if you work out every day and eat pretty well. But then to get into great shape, and I’m trying to do that for Wednesday actually because I’m doing the cover of Fitness Rx, you definitely have to diet and it sucks and I hate it. I love carbs, I love burritos, I love burgers but before a shoot and before something like this, yeah, you’ve got to cut that stuff out.”

More at OK! Magazine including news for how James and Peta will be presenting awards for Nickelodeon’s Kids Choice Awards this weekend.

Adding: You can also read James new blog at Parade. In the take below he writes of the switch up dance and the Jive coming up. More at the link.

With the big switch coming up, polls are open for people to start voting who they’d like us to be paired with. I haven’t looked at Twitter for the pairings too much, but I’ve got an idea. If you watch the show, they seem to be trying to playing two people against each other in multiple pairs. So maybe they’re trying to encourage that, but in all honesty I don’t really care because I hope to go back to Peta. I’ll have fun with whoever, but I really hope it’s temporary.

Next week, we’re dancing the jive. We want to show another side. To do the same thing we did for salsa wouldn’t be as exciting, so we’re going to make it fun. We’re talking about the most memorable year of my life, which turned out to be a very positive message and the reason I’m doing the show is to spread that positivity and encourage people to follow their dreams. I think we’re going to maybe even go back to my musical theater roots, so there might be more of a performance aspect, which will be fun. We haven’t started addressing our costumes yet, but it’ll probably start out a little more conservative than we did for the salsa– we’ll have some fun pieces, maybe some props or something to play with.

ETA1: And here they are with Access Hollywood in rehearsals….

PureDWTS Guest Poem: “Swinging On A Star”

And below is Lois with another one of her fabulous poems highlighting Dancing With The Stars Season 18 Week 2….

SWINGING ON A BALLROOM STAR!

The cast opened the show SWINGING ON A BALLROOM STAR!
The shimmied, they shook, swinging to the beat, raising the bar

A gasp was heard far and wide, a double elimination the surprise
The pendulum was swinging, time was short, they did surmise

The couples collected their dancing thoughts they were in shock
The time for two couples was rapidly tick-tick-ticking off the clock

Drew and Cheryl brought down the house with a Jive full of steam
Sharna and Charlie’s Tango emotional, powerful, a beautiful scene

Derek, Amy’s Swing gave the pendulum grand, spectacular ticks
Meryl and Max’s Swing explosive, high powered, full of shticks

Billy Dee, Emma Tangoed with two beautiful dancing girls, so sweet
Peta and James burst on to the floor, stepping heartily to the beat

Diana and Henry Cha-Chaed came out swinging with red-hot flair
Danica and Val danced a Salsa sleek and sultry in the ballroom air

Sean and Karina performed a Salsa with a flirty, flamboyant tone
Candace, Mark displayed a Rumba sensual as if they were alone

Cody, Witney Tangoed with beautiful lines and a walk to the moon
Tony, NeNe were Jiving to the beat, with each other they did swoon

As the night wore on the pendulum was ticking the final ticks for two
Swinging back and forth Diana, Henry and Karina and Sean were blue

The double elimination, shocking surprise, two should have gone far
Heads held high, were proudly SWINGING ON A BALLROOM STAR!
