Meryl Davis And Maksim Chmerkovksiy Talk Of How They Are Staying Healthy Doing Dancing With The Stars

Meryl Davis and Maksim Chmerkovksiy talked with OK! Magazine after Dancing With The Stars Monday night. One of the questions they asked is how they were staying healthy at this point in the competition. Below is how they replied.

“One of the things Maks has been telling me is to be honest with each other,” Meryl told OK! backstage Monday night. “Coming into rehearsal one day saying I’m really tired today, this is kind of hurting, let’s take it easy doing this—I think that’s the primary thing.”

Maks may be an extremely hard worker, but he knows the value of taking it easy, too.

“I can alter things,” he explains. “I don’t get married to a routine. Val is different. Val goes and rehearses with a pro until four in the morning and the next day he comes and he shows the routine and then he teaches it to Danica. I’m different. I see her and I go, ‘Okay, let’s slowly start building.’ If she doesn’t tell me if something’s hurting, I’m not going to know it. I’m going to push something and it’s going to make it worse. We just need to stay honest and if I’m tired I tell her, if she’s tired we cut it short. It’s not worth the consequences.”

Carrie Ann Inaba Blogs On Dancing With The Stars 18 Week 7

Judge Carrie Ann Inaba reviews this week’s dances in her new blog at Parade. I agree with her on everything except I wish she’d switch what she wrote on Meryl and Charlie. Charlie is the one who is producing the most content and improving (imo). This last dance was his best yet. On a positive note, I love what she wrote about Amy!

Meryl Davis gave us yet another full-throttle performance. She has impressed and surprised me over and over again. What she does so well is push beyond what we expect of her, which is no easy task. She has earned herself some pretty high expectations because she has delivered some great performances. The first two steps of her salsa were a bit timid and then suddenly, she unleashed the beast and let her primal passion lead her in the movements. It blew me away! It’s so great to see someone go there. There’s a lot of trust in that partnership and Maks Chmerkovskiy and Meryl are the team to beat right now.

Charlie White , who is dying to get a 10, needs to take a moment and realize that a 10 is earned on this show. I think he has the potential to get a perfect score for sure! His artistry on the dance floor, the way he knows how to maneuver his partner , and use his weight and create warm soft shapes makes him a contender. However, he’s in the tough spot of being the performer who started the competition at the top. He started out great, so where does he go? What he needs to realize is that this show is about growth and great dancing. He’s great, but we haven’t seen much improvement anywhere. He’s got to bring out something we haven’t seen yet, show us that he’s also growing as a performer. I think he’s a bit too smooth and easygoing in his dances. I could watch him all day — so don’t take that the wrong way — he’s a beautiful dancer, but he’s a bit too lyrical. I’d like to see sharper edges in some of his movements. I want to see him be able to stop a movement once in a while instead of having all the movements continue as one movement. I want to see more light and shade, not all a beautiful shade of gray. I also hope his knee is going to be okay. When an athlete feels a strange tingle in the knee, it’s a scary thing. Let’s hope it was just a small moment of pain, we need our Charlie to be in his best shape. He’s got the Stars on Ice show as well as DWTS right now…so take care, Charlie!

More at Parade. Let us know what you think. Also, Carrie Ann has a new boyfriend. You can read about him at Life & Style.

DWTS Mark Ballas And Candace Cameron Bure’s Fox Trot Will Be Fun, Quirky, Sassy, And….

Mark Ballas has penned a new blog at She Knows explaining about how proud he is of his Dancing With The Stars partner Candace Cameron Bure this week. With an exception to a little mistake in their Tango, she overcame her fear, anxiety and blackouts. Below is more for what they are planning for next week with their Fox Trot. Mark also explains the Team Mini Dance a little.

Moving into next week, I want to keep Candace in the same positive mental zone so we can keep climbing. I keep telling Candace that this is a turtle race, not a rabbit race. She’s my turtle and she just put on rollerblades so she’s moving a little faster. So that’s been really fun and a great mentality for her to have.

Candace and I have the foxtrot next week. I think it’s really suited to her personality — fun, quirky, sassy, but still elegant and classy. I think she’s going to do really well. We also have this new challenge where we’re doing this side-by-side dual thing where we’re dancing with another couple. I can’t reveal who that couple is yet, but I think it’s going to turn out really great because we get along really well with them, so it’s going to be super cool!

All in all, I’m really proud of Candace. I think she’s on the incline right now and really hitting her stride in the competition. We’re just going to keep moving and pacing ourselves. We want to live in the now and keep moving forward.

You can read the full blog at She Knows.

And on another topic, don’t miss a tiny interview with Mark and his music with Ryan Seacrest at this link as his new single and video for “Get My Name” will premiere on Monday.

Afterbuzz TV And Cheslie Hightower Review DWTS Season 18 Week 7

Kristyn Burtt and the gang are back with another fun episode of Afterbuzz TV!! This time Chelsie Hightower joins them to break down the dances. Let us know if you or disagree with them. I especially loved what they said about judges and all of their inconsistencies. For example, Suri brings up how Len gave James and Charlie both 8’s and how something is wrong with that. SO TRUE!! And what about the “supersized” dances for what we are seeing now? They don’t like them either. Also, be sure to listen to what they say about Abby Miller judging next week at the end. They are outraged on her being picked as a guest judge like so many of us. Another super show!!

PureDWTS Season 18, Week 8 – What We Know About the “Duo Dance” So Far

Admittedly, this came out of left field for me – I was almost certain they were going to be doing the trio dances this coming week.  So imagine my surprise when, last night, Tom announced this elusive “duo dance” that will pair up two couples, have them dance on the floor at the same time (with their partners), and then just the celebs dance with each other (without their partners).  And in true DWTS style – it seemed like most of the pros had no idea what it all was about, and they probably still don’t.  Thanks, Conrad. 🙂 Gotta love these little parting gifts he’s leaving…

So what do we here at Pure know so far? Well we know for sure that these are the duos, per Deep Throat: Read more..

DWTS James Maslow Writes On The New Dances For Next Week And More

James Maslow has written a new blog at Parade. He explains what rehearsals were like this past week and performing he and Peta’s “sexy” Rumba. He also gives us some more details for the new dances next week. Read on….

Next week we’re doing the Viennese waltz, which I’m really looking forward to. I think that Peta and I do well with dances like that. We’ve proven that we can do the sexy dances when we need to, but I think it’s going to be nice to have a change and to have a classic dance and a classy approach to how we do it.

Amy and Derek are supposed to be our partners next week for our second team dance. We reached out to Derek last night and he said it looks like Amy’s going to be ok, but they still don’t know what’s wrong. I think he’s being optimistic. I believe he saw her, but I don’t think they know exactly what it is yet. I don’t want to speak out of turn, but I’m praying that it’s nothing major and she will be ok.

The team dance is broken up into groups of four, so two partners each. This is the first time they’ve ever done something like this: the four of us are going to dance about 20 seconds of a minute-long song, then the pros are going to split and the celebrities are going to dance for about 20 seconds, and then come back together.

Interesting! Here’s to next week. I can’t wait. More at Parade. You can also read more on the Mini Team dances for what’s coming out so far at this link as well.

PureDWTS Season 18, Week 7 – Power Rankings

Sooooo…anyone else have an unpleasant sense of deja vu from season 14 after last night’s show? Cause I sure am…it’s only the names that have changed: William Levy has been replaced with Meryl, and Donald Driver has been replaced with Charlie. William/Meryl can do no wrong in the eyes of the judges, is bathed in praise, and gets free passes for doing things that other couples get called out on in a heartbeat; while poor Donald/Charlie busts his ass and delivers not only some stellar dances, but manages to keep a smile on his face – yet week after week, he’s nitpicked to death by the judges and looks (along with his partner) beyond hurt as it’s happening. I hated the whole situation two years ago, and I hate it again now – the blatant pimping and obvious hosing of some couples vs. others is making me check out of this season just a little bit more with each passing week. There’s only one glimmer of hope on the horizon: William, despite all the pimping on his season, was only able to eke out 3rd place…while Donald, the weekly redheaded stepchild in the eyes of the judges, ended up winning the whole thing. Just some food for thought… Read more..

PureDWTS Season 18 Week 7 Media And Interviews After Dance Night

Wow, what a night!! I’m still upset about how the judges reacted to Sharna and Charlie. So unfair. Sharna tweeted that she isn’t sure what Charlie has to do, but, they will keep fighting. That’s the spirit.

I’m worried on Amy Purdy too. The last she tweeted on her condition, she said she was ok, but, she was still waiting for the doctor’s report. She also tweeted that she’s looking forward to next week’s dance and that she and Derek will dance an Argentine Tango (if she’s good to go).

In media things after the show, George Pennacchio of ABC7 has a recap and some previews of his interviews. Note how Sharna said she and Charlie have a Quickstep just like we previously posted last night. You can learn of more of our other dance spoilers here.

Also, On The Red Carpet has some awesome photos from the night. Pure Derek Hough has some screen caps of Amy and Derek and the Team dance too and more will be posted a little later.

And just to review the scores again in case you need them….

Amy Purdy and Derek Hough: 36
James Maslow and Peta Murgatroyd: 35
Danica McKellar and Val Chmerkovskiy: 33
NeNe Leakes and Tony Dovolani: 31 (Eliminated)
Charlie White and Sharna Burgess: 36
Candace Cameron Bure and Mark Ballas: 35
Meryl Davis and Maksim Chmerkovskiy: 39

One more thing, did you happen to see Gleb Savchenco and Elena Samodanova in the audience? She indeed wore a dress from her new line as promised. Below are some instagrams of them both. Beautiful!!

Ok, that is all for now. More later. Keep checking back!! 😉 xx
